2023.05.28 08:18 Mira_Arts_V Barnaby and Diana

Barnaby and Diana
Hellooooo, made some art of my Welcome Home bab Diana! This isn’t my first post of them here but I wanna share some info on them.
Diana is based off a luna moth, they use they/them pronouns and are nonbinary! They’re very timid and shy so they tend to keep to themselves. But they still love spending time with the other neighbors! Though they’d rather spend time with some rather than…others, others like Barnaby. Diana doesn’t hate Barnaby, but they find themself growing anxious whenever they’re around him.
Barnaby loves to tell jokes, and unfortunately for Diana…most of those are about their tired looking appearance, something that Diana is very self conscious about. So they tend not to hang out whenever the big blue dog is out and about.
Art and Diana belong to me Barnaby from Welcome Home

2023.05.28 08:14 Windermed i’m giving up. might’ve found out that they apparently like someone else

i’m sure that some of you saw my other posts and even tho i was positive that it was (based on the “signs” i thought were there) that unfortunately doesn’t seem to be the case.
i was scrolling through reels and there was a reel they commented on which mentioned that they apparently like someone else and with that being said, i guess this is my time to move on.
i’ll probably take this as a lesson to not let myself be deluded so easily again as i should’ve known that it was probably just me trying to cling onto an idea/possibility that someone felt something about me in order to give myself a reason to come to school everyday and not skip as much (even if my reasons to skip was related to my mental health or because i felt like nobody would care if i was gone)
this next week will probably be my toughest week yet considering that i no longer have any factors to motivate myself with right now but i’ll try to push through regardless (especially since its finals week) but hey at least my last day of school is next week so that should be plenty of time to allow myself to process my feelings.
of course anything’s possible so maybe i’m just being an idiot again (considering that their crush doesn’t like them back according to that comment) but i don’t think i’m going to delude myself any further with this tbh.
either way i really do appreciate these past few months/weeks as it was thanks to my crush on them that i was able to push myself to do things outside of my comfort zone as well as letting me experience that feeling that i haven’t felt towards anyone since middle school.

who knows? maybe they were talking using past tense and i misinterpreted what they said (and in that case.. a clear hint either irl or on insta would be really nice)

(i’m still being delusional myself aren’t i?)
TL;DR saw a comment from my crush on an insta reel saying about how their crush didn’t like them back so i’m officially giving up and im going to try to move on as it was pretty clear that i was just being delusional this entire time

New balustrade and gate. Macrocarpa and powder coated black aluminium spindles
The original balustrade that came with the house was very illegal (height and horizontal slats). The metal posts were pretty flimsy and would lean if you put weight on them.
Been putting off this job for a while but baby no longer wanted to be couped up in the lounge anymore so good kick in the ass to get it done.
100x100 macrocarpa posts, bolted into the floor joists. Rimu used for floor trim as I couldn't find matai long enough.
In retrospect the macrocarpa was too soft of a wood. Oil polyurethane may have helped over water based.
Was short exactly 1 spindle and ullrich have decided not to stock this 20mm powder coated black pipe anymore, so had to go buy a length of mile steel pipe and paint it black. Pretty frustrating.

2023.05.28 08:09 UnshakenBastard Body dysmorphia as a mixed-race filipino and racism from other ethnicities preventing me from getting more involved with Asian culture.

Before you read this, I want to apologize if this comes across as scatter-brained. These thoughts have been building for years and only recently did I suddenly have the urge to rant about this.
I have struggled with my identity my entire life. My father is white, and my mother is Filipino. However, my dad is very ignorant of culture outside the US (in a bigoted way) and my mother only recently started to push me to learn Filipino culture (about two years ago, but I am 22).
I have tried to make Asian friends from similar ethnic backgrounds, but they either ignore me or are enamored with American culture so its hard to really absorb authentic Filipino/Asian experiences.
I attribute this to a few factors; my physical appearance and where I specifically grew up.
I have probably struggled with my physical appearance my entire life, from both family and strangers. My father is full white, and my mother is Filipino; my appearance resembles more of a Hispanic person rather than Asian. I used to joke that I can’t fit in among white people, Asians, or Hispanic people, but unfortunately this feels closer to reality every day. Being raised in Texas (and among my white grandparents) I have always felt looked down upon based upon my skin complexion. When I worked in fast food, I once had an elderly white man order me to stop taking his order and have my white coworker complete it instead. Hispanic people often walk up to me speaking to me in Spanish and being shocked I am Asian (though I find this more funny rather than offensive).
What isn’t funny is the amount of disdain I see from Asian people. When I tell Asian people I am Asian, they often deny me or tell me I’m Mexican/Cuban and I don’t know it. I was bullied by a Chinese kid in middle school because my skin was so dark, and he would often call me “cholo” and other derogatory names. However, the worst case came from an ex-girlfriend that I once loved unconditionally and had plans to marry. She told me one night that she wanted “full-blooded Korean children” in her future, and it destroyed me to be judged by someone I cared for so deeply for something I literally could not control. Additionally, her mom once told me that Filipinos have lots of genetic diseases when I had dinner at her parents place. These two traumatic experiences are some of the biggest reasons I have struggled with my identity.
I’m not stupid, I see how both Asian and western culture fetishize fair and pale skin. It is so frustrating that people ignore racism among Asian subgroups. I know Indians and (for lack of a better word) middle eastern people suffer from being called “not really Asian.”
I have tried trendy Asian haircuts/outfits, but there is only so much I can do. And the other day (this is the reason for my post) one of my work acquaintances told me I should stop “trying to look like an Asian” and it really got under my skin.
It sucks when people deny the race that you actually are, it feels like screaming at a brick wall to move and nothing happens. I think because I don’t look Asian I am excluded from Asian events at my college. Asian people are usually dry in conversation whereas I honestly have no issues with college kids of other races. Because of this, I feel locked out from experiencing a huge part of my identity simply because I do not “fit the look.”
Another factor included in this is my geographic location, Texas. Aside from having very few Filipino people in my exact region of Texas, I live in a house obsessed with American culture. I have nothing against it honestly, but when we eat hamburgers three days in a row for dinner, I can’t help but desire some sort of variety with my food. I do my best to eat more Filipino cuisine, but a lot of the filipino food in America is really greasy and it upsets my diet/stomach. Food aside, the Asian community in Texas is obsessed with American culture with a splash of eastern Asian influence. For example, they are obsessed with KPOP and anime to an extent that they are mimicking their fashion style and looks. Everyone is wearing Uniqlo, streetwear, and a pearl necklace/chain. Everyone is drinking Boba or going to raves and it is honestly so tiring.
Additionally, my father is pretty racist when it comes to Hispanics and black people, but most of his insults are based on the color of their skin. These insults honestly feel like they could apply to me and any racist person could direct these slurs to me any day.
Because of this, I have almost zero connection to my heritage or cultural identity. And it is so frustrating to see people connect with others just because they are Asian because whenever I try it I am shot down.
Has anyone else struggled with this? I feel trapped that I will never truly experience my culture due to my dysmorphia and where I live and it makes me very depressed.

2023.05.28 08:01 Ashleybaby87 Worth a try. Anything helps.

Asking for help after a long fall from grace.
I’m not the type to ask for help. I’ve never actually needed help until now. But after a long fall from grace, it’s time to put my pride aside and ask for help.
When I was 17, I joined the US Army. I didn’t join to serve my country or any other patriotic reason, I joined because I came from a super poor family, and I knew that I wanted better for myself. And boy did I get it! I traveled the world, and on my 2nd tour in Iraq, ended up severely injured, and ended up getting out on a medical discharge. I was last stationed at Fort Knox in Kentucky, and I liked the area so much I decided to stay. With no idea what to do with the rest of my life, I started looking into joining the medical field. I became a CNA. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I was working too hard for too little money, especially since I already had a bad back injury. So I used my GI Bill and went to college. Eventually, I ended up with a Masters in Nursing. Took 5 years, but was definitely worth it. I ended up moving to New York and stayed up there for about 12 years. I made amazing money, and had a great life. If there was something I wanted, I bought it. I went on vacations, cruises, had several vehicles I paid cash for, and owned a beautiful home that was paid for. I shared my wealth when able. If someone needed help, I’ve always done what I could. I worked as a Director of Nursing in a hospital up there. When Covid hit, I was one of the first to volunteer to go to NYC to help on the front lines. I loved my job and helping other people. One day at work, I hit my head on a metal box that was mounted to the wall. I was sent for a MRI. The doctors found a lesion on my brain, unrelated to me hitting my head. A few months passed, and I started experiencing some intermittent confusion, and extreme fatigue. Then the pain started. It would hurt my feet and legs so bad to walk, that I could barely stand. I started seeing a neurologist. After tons of testing, a spinal tap, MRIs, you name it, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I was supposed to go to the neurologist to get started on something for it the following Monday morning, but tragedy struck that Saturday night when my entire house burned to the ground while I was at the grocery store. The entire house was a total loss. Not being from New York, I had no family to stay with, and ended up having to move back to North Carolina with family. After getting here, my MS progression sped up. I started seeing a neurologist here, and was told that my MS is the Primary Progressive type, which is bad news. Unable to work, I filed for Social Security Disability. A year passed, during which I used up all my savings, and ended up moving in with my mom. They denied my claim without ever obtaining my medical records from New York. I submitted an appeal, and they denied that as well, without ever getting all my medical records. So I collected all my medical records myself, and contacted a lawyer. I have a hearing coming up, and I will be approved once I see a judge solely based on my rapid decline since applying. I can’t walk without crutches anymore. I can’t control my bladder, the fatigue has gotten so bad that I can sleep 16 hours without a problem. Now, I’m always in severe pain because I’ve got neuropathy throughout both feet, legs, hands, and arms. I’m going blind. My feet are contracted and I wear special shoes and see a specialist just for that. My pancreas decided to stop functioning right, and I have a insulin pump now, with a implant that monitors my sugar every minute and makes sure I don’t drop or spike. I see a specialist for that as well. On top of that, I’ve got rheumatoid arthritis, so my joints and bones are affected, while the MS screws with my muscles. I have severe muscle cramps and spasms all the time. And they hurt. Bad. The muscles in my legs are atrophied to the point where I have no reflexes anymore. As I said, it’s been a long fall from grace for me to end up here. I went from having everything, including great health, to having nothing and being completely crippled in 3 years. All while waiting for disability to approve me and pay out. They now owe me 2 full years of backpay. I qualify for full benefits from the Army, and I have more than enough work credits for fill retirement. But I still haven’t worked or had any income since I’m unable to. I’ve been basically living off my mom, who is also disabled and can barely take care of herself. Food stamps helps with food a little, but it never lasts all month. I have medications that I have to have and even with Medicaid, I still have a copay. I’ve borrowed from everyone I can, which isn’t much because as I said above, I came from a very poor family, and even though that had changed for me, it didn’t change for them. I’m right back where I started.
I typed all this to show that I am a actual person, with a legitimate reason for being in this situation. There’s nothing I can do about it at this moment, except ask for help. If there’s anything you can do to help, please message me. If you can donate anything, anything at all to help, I’d appreciate it more than you know. Transportation to appointments, medication copays, food, things needed to survive, are all too expensive for someone with nothing.
My Cashapp Cashtag is: @DimebagDesigns
Feel free to message me if you want to talk or have any questions.
And thank for reading my long post.

2023.05.28 08:01 dizzyhanna Happy Sunday Everyone! Some info on pricing + trends.

Based on the poll, it seems we want most some assistance with pricing and with current trends.
Some things to keep in mind when pricing:
  1. Is it fast fashion?
  2. Is it rare?
  3. Quality of fabric?
  4. Any faults?
  5. Is it trending?
If you have any items that you're unsure of how to price, feel free to post on this sub and we'll throw in some advice.
In relation to Aus trends, i'll jot down some things I've noticed:
  1. Black classics doing well now that Winter's upon us: black silk tops, sexy black dresses, black knitwear.
  2. feminine turtlenecks - delicate woollen sleeveless specifically,
  3. Early 2000's prom dresses - satin look or polyester overlayed dresses with structured busts + spaghetti straps
  4. low rise/mid rise skirts - hyper feminine, floral, lace
  5. low/mid rise straight/wide leg pants - pinstripe, beige, flare
  6. corset + lingerie tops and blouses
Definitely haven't covered everything so please add anything else you've noticed!

2023.05.28 07:57 amateur_stacker_9999 DoD Civilian PCS Question

Can a DoD Civilian bring their significant other (boyfriend/girlfriend) with them when they PCS? Thinking about moving from Hawaii to Japan. Correct me if I’m wrong, but as I understand it, a significant other is not considered a dependent and would not receive any benefits available for dependents. If I am able to bring my SO along, would they be able to apply for jobs and work at my new location (within military base)?

2023.05.28 07:56 Nati_Suller Reaper of the undead calling card

Hi guys, so my combat record says i have 1 million 3 thousand kills, but the calling card has not unlocked, i have searched the internet/reddit about this but the majority of what i found is old posts from like 2 years ago & they really didn't help, tbh they have made it more confusing, some people are saying only round-based kills count, some people say both round-based & outbreak kills count, some people say kills from all 4 game modes count, so i honestly dont know what kills from what game modes actually count towards the calling card, Does anyone know what kills actually count ?

2023.05.28 07:55 pinksora1719 34[F4M] from PHP/anywhere preferably usa or EST time - looking for a friendly genuine connection with someone

Well I am trying my luck here probably looking for a genuine connection with someone who can relate to my hobbies and interests. My name is Chris, from the philippines. I'm a smart, ambivert girl who likes anime, gaming , food and arts.
I have been gaming a lot on my switch to entertain myself so I am kinda looking into meeting possible playmates
I do also some mmorpg games on my spare time but mostly i do rpg games on my laptop like old playstation games since i missed them a lot. I also just started gaming in pc mostly just mmorpg like Lost Ark or Mir4. I am no good at FPS games cause they trigger my vertigo and it usually makes me sick after gaming for 30 mins. At times catch up on my JRPGS while being idle at work currently finishing Tales of Vesperia.
I also know mobile legends, LOL and other games like genshin ( though i stopped early).
Looking for friends who can play with or someone to bond with to maybe lesser the time i overthink. Feel burned about life as I have been doing intensive parental caregiving the past months.
I am also an anime fan and a former cosplayer and a roleplayer. Also I am into movies a lot and watch almost everything on netflix. Maybe we can movie marathon or what or watch anime ( I am a 90's kid who really watched a lot of animes). I love horror movies but I am a coward so if I movie with you expect shrills and screaming from me .
I am also into fan fiction writing in archive of our own which i have a few works with thousands of reads. Maybe we can discuss about relevant topics about writing or so I don't know but i am no expert.
I just really hope to speak to someone of different culture or learn about their lives or talk to someone casually. I feel so overwhelmed by worldly probs and I do want a friend that keeps me sane and in check while i face everyday to live and breathe one more day.
Right now i am not looking for any relationship as I want to build myself up and be okay again. Well normally people think I got my shit together at my age now but right now i'm burned out. I have quit several of my hobbies due to my past relationships. Currently bombarded on caregiving. Even though I have struggles I do just want a good company and I don't need of saving on my problems. The savior complex of some does stress me and i dont like being dictated on what i should do and what.
Being cooped up at home tremendously gets mundane and I am hoping to meet people to share interest in or at least exchange relevant topics about life.
Also I draw digitally and try to do fan arts for Bts the korean group since I am a fan of it.
I am into photography, doll photography and food photography and love to dress up and make up. Also I am into culinary and love cooking. I binged a lot on baking shows and cooking competition shows like top chef or master chef. I love taking food pics of what I cook so pls feel free we can be chef mates and share recipes and such and also i am into baking I love to eat and taste different cuisines so a food buddy is preferred.
Anyways a friend who is into my interest I would love to speak and bond with.
People say I am a good listener maybe i can help too and give advices though I am not in the proper mental state to help with people under going immense stuff but I'll do my best to listen and advice as much as I can. They say I have great empathy and mindfulness of others and I am quite apologetic when I reply late.
I am normally awake in EST time american since my work is based in New Jersey. Americans or people in western countries works better for me since I sleep opposite of asians.
I am just a cute filipina who is a closet otaku looking for friends. i have a good sense humor and talk ample a lot and just chat literally almost about everything. But please do make efforts to converse and not let me do the talking it's really hard sometimes if communication is forced. If I offended you and you don't wanna be friends anymore that's fine just tell and I'll back off rather than being ignored intentionally. No drama promise .
Please do not come into my dms with the intent to sexualize me ...i have enough trauma from a sexual assault years ago...so pls if you have ill intentions.. do not dm me. I am not applying for any girlfriend position or be your future waifu. So please do not ask me sexual questions or any sexual preferences. At any point I am sexualized without consent I would block immediately. Again i am not looking for boyfriends or spouse for now nor I am looking for hook ups so stay away from me.
If you wanna see how i look check I can send pics. I am not a catfish yes I look 20's and i don't know why. Dont bother asking my snap i wont migrate there for you to validate my identity. I am not hooking up.
I am 5'3 1/2 yes I am small, my body type i am more on a curvy side for now and I am working out and dieting. I gained weight due to depression and anxiety from my sick ex . I am tan as you expect from filipinas and short hair, doe eyes and cute.
To be honest im scared partially with my post but either way. I just wanna feel a bit myself and meet pepple and I do want genuine friendly connection with someone. If you also do not like the fact I am living in asia and makes a big fuss i live far away...sorry I am not the girl for you.
So if you have reached this point I have a pending question
What is your favorite anime/game/ movie ? and why?. Send that to me when you mssg me here and I will entertain your pm. If someone doesnt follow this sorry i wont entertain. Since I believe good reading and following directions means a good intent towards someone.
This is a test someone reads my post and with the intent you really wanted to get to know me. Yeah I might sound demanding a bit but i really get a lot of mssgs and some are just after sex and such and really I am not for that at this point. Thank you for reading.

2023.05.28 07:50 No-Toe6842 My first real project since getting the X1C

My first real project since getting the X1C
Not done yet but I will make a follow up post in a few days. Hopefully it looks like it does in the show when finished. So far my plans are to rub the black base coat with graphite powder, then clear coat over that. The helmet is quite large though. And I still need to attach the visor. Any tips from someone who makes masks/helmets?

2023.05.28 07:48 WanttoUnderstandPlz Is there a good/bad time to try and address my wife's possible quiet/usually functional BPD?

Follow up to this post, thanks to the members of this sub who have talked through some things with me.
https://www.reddit.com/BPDlovedones/comments/13s68kf/wife_cheated_on_me_recently_and_has_recently_been/
I'll say that these last three intense months, she hasn't been mean but has definitely needed space, and there have been a couple of long periods where she seemed to have a hold on things. This week in particular seemed especially hard, but we had a good day today and she's in better spirits for the time being. I really want to talk with her and address this head on; she knows already that she needs therapy, that basically she has something that BPD addresses based on past trauma, childhood neglect, all sorts of stuff. And I know I can stick it out with her. I just don't know if now, especially as she's still very much in the midst of this, is the best time. And then in a little over a week she heads out on a work trip for a few days. Is it best that I wait? Should I ask her about therapy? Should I talk to a therapist and run everything by them first? I'm not worried about our relationship, I know we love each other, we both know she did a super fucked thing, but I'm willing to give it this one hard shot at getting through the fire, facing this crucible, etc. etc. I do feel better knowing there's something to address and that she does too.

2023.05.28 07:45 decofairykun Breast forms based on pre-op chest?

Do you have any recommendations on where I could get forms based on my pre-op chest, or where I could get them custom made? The only thing I have succeeded in was making a mold. I don't know what would be important to think of when trying to DIY this either, as I've never had forms and would be glad for any advice! I'm not planning on wearing an underwire bra ever, even with the forms, if that is even possible, so I guess I would have to glue them on?
I doubt that I'd actually want to wear them post topsurgery, but I can't look into the future and would like to have them, just in case. What I know for sure is that I would never want to wear breast forms bigger than what I have now (less than an A-cup).

2023.05.28 07:43 ExtentImpossible4416 What are your recommendations for our financial plan? We are starting out

Long post. My wife and I both grew up poor and have next to zero financial knowledge. I’ll give a little background about where we’re at, what we have planned for the next few years, and I would really appreciate advice and suggestions about where we should go from here.
Background of where we are at now: My wife and I are both 26 and have no kids yet but plan to within the next few years. I’m military (E-4, ~3k with my special pays after tax) and my wife is about to start a GS-6 with a locality pay that brings her a little below 50k/annually. We have 25k student debt in the government loans for my Bachelor’s and my wife’s nursing program, however, it would all go away if student loan forgiveness is upheld this Summer. Not really counting on that, though. We are about to start a $140-160k mortgage (still deciding down payment) on a property and home of about $250k in value. We got a big family discount and intend to hold on to this home as our family home once we get back full-time in 6-10ish years.
Both of our cars were paid in full with cash and are good for the foreseeable future.
We presently live in base housing so our housing and utilities are a set amount each month and removed from my check. The home that we are in the process of inheriting/buying will have a house payment around $1,300-$1,500 for 15 years depending on the home insurance we’re able to find and if we’re able to get the property tax discount. It will have a mid 5% APR. We would like to pay this down quickly and we estimate we could probably do so in 7-10 years. In addition to my wife living in the home while I’m on deployments and such(she will take a leave of absence from her main job, will likely do short term contracting for a higher wage during this period) a sibling of mine will be staying in the house full-time as a caretaker until we return in a few year and they will be paying around half of total payment plus utilities. Raising the rent any higher for them is not something we will consider.
I’ve recently started receiving TSP match for my military retirement account and only recently began contributing meaningful amounts for my portion. I’ve got it going with 5% Roth and the government matches 5% (which goes into traditional I believe) so I have 10% (~$300) of my pay going into TSP each month. To date it’s about $2.5k. My wife is beginning her federal job soon and will also have access to starting a TSP.
We will have around 15k left in a MMSA account that has 1.1% APY after our down payment for the home.
After taxes, my Roth contributions(wife hasn’t started her TSP yet), and all of our bills are paid we’ll have between $6,000-$6,500 extra each month. That doesn’t include home owning costs which will start in late Summer. After including my sibling’s rent ours will be ~$750 per month at the highest.
Where we see the next few years: I have a little less than 3 years on my current contract but I’m considering a 3 year re-enlistment if the proper conditions are met. I’ll be promoted to E-5 in less than 2 years and then E-6 if re-enlist. I then intend to switch over to the reserves as an E-5/very close to E-6 or commission if the timing allows. It would depend upon unit location, school start, and healthcare costs. It will be hard to give up Tricare with a family, plus I’m content staying in the military until reserve retirement or until I get my professional career up and running.
Once I get out I intend to go to medical school (I’ve been accepted to one in a low COL area, will immediately commission into the reserves in a program specific to medicine with this option) or law school (will only consider the top few schools and they are mostly in high COL, will most likely stay reserves until around graduation). We intend to buy a home in whatever city I do one of these programs in. The GI bill has a good housing allowance(E-5 BAH at school zip code) and the entirety of tuition for all of the schools that I’m considering. I plan for us to have a significant amount of savings by this point and my wife plans to work at least part-time (if we have kids by then) while I’m in school and she might be around a GS 7 or 8 by this point, or she might switch back to contracting. She wants to take off a few years after I finish professional school to stay home with the kids when they are young. I absolutely support this and it’s possible that she never returns to work. I’d like to switch down to part time work in my late 40’s/50’s. We plan to see a financial advisor on base within the month for a short term plan but I’m interested in a variety of recommendations and outlooks for our long term plan.
Where to we go from here?
What are some benchmarks for savings that you recommend for our situation?
What do you recommend for our TSP contributions?
What timeframe do you recommend for paying off the house?
What extra investments do you recommend?
What are your recommended financial literacy resources?
Basically, where do we go from here?

2023.05.28 07:40 Sp4c3m4n-39 Timeline for TS after complicated Secret

So my Secret took me a solid year and nine months to get sorted. Turns out the investigation was stalled shortly after I shipped off to BMT and no one knew what was going on the entire time I was at tech school for 8 months. Once at my base they restarted the investigation and a few months later I find out due to some posts my dumb self made on Facebook back in 2017-2018 they wanted clarification as to what the resulting consequences were of the "incident." I submitted two separate MFRs to DoD CaF and finally in late 2021 my clearance was approved. Now my career field is being merged with several others and I need a TS. My application was submitted in November if I'm recalling correctly and I had a few meetings with my assigned investigator between February and last month. Nothing crazy though and I've been keeping my nose clean as far as my postings online so that shouldn't be a further issue going forward. I'm pretty sure everything they could have found has been found by now. So guys how do you think my timeliness for getting this wrapped up will look like? I'm assuming more complicated than someone else with a few less red flags but it shouldn't be as bad as my secret (fingers crossed)
