Someone asked for some fun platinum games so i decided to write a 500 word essay for his poor soul to read, but I want to hear from you guys what makes a platinum fun?
Anyways my response:
TL,DR: Fun platinums are fun games that have trophies that stick to the core concept of said game. List of my favs below (although I haven't platinumed them all)
Whenever I hear the question "what are some fun plats" Ratchet and Clank INSTANTLY comes to mind.
For a platinum to be fun, I believe each and every trophy (and really the games content as a whole) from the easiest stuff, to the hardest has to be enjoyable, and few games can do that. A lot of collectibles, speed runs, and hard mode trophies aren't fun for me, simply because few games are good enough that I want to stick around after I beat the story, let alone be provided a challenge like beating it on "git gud mode" or having to watch a guide because I have to find 200 notes laying on the ground in obscure places.
Ratchet and clank was good from the story, to upgrading the weapons, all the way to traversing through cool platform-y parts of the game to get gold bolts. Other games I had fun with were tell tale games (and other games of that genre). All you do is beat the game, and I respect that, I respect a game for realizing it's quality and not adding a bunch of half-baked filler 90% of the players will have no interest in doing in order to get the 100%.
Anyways, other amazing games with a good trophy experience will be added below (my opinion ofc)

In her video essay about the consumerist aspect of Harry Potter, Verily Bitchie notes how from the very beginning Harry Potter was praised for “getting kids into reading” Indeed there was a lot of encouragement and acknowledgment from parents and teachers who are overwhelmingly female. Women are over represented as caretakers from parents and babysitters to teachers not to mention librarians and I think in no small part because Harry Potters strong word of mouth came from the many women who embody these roles and who I have a suspicion were overjoyed to see a woman author doing so well, not to mention the fact that boys were reading her novels despite sexist and patriarchal attitudes that so result go unchallenged. (At this rate it’s standard for girls to be encouraged or generally interested in traditionally masculine interests or media content, but we don’t really challenge boys to do the same with anything considered un-masculine)
Additionally, Rowling herself was frequently upheld as a role model for millennials to reach for the stars. How many times as kids did we hear, “JK Rowling had to go through 12 different publishers.” or more often “JK Rowling was writing on napkins unable to afford to heat her apartment!” Which Rowling herself actually dispelled in an interview. Never mind the fact that Rowling received a grant to finish the books from the Scottish Arts Council or the fact that the cafe she wrote in was co-owned by her ex-brother in law at the time.
Barack Obama was not above perpetuating the myth of JK Rowling’s rags to riches. When I was 15, Obama addressed high school students in a nationally broadcast address where he treaded the tired old story about JK Rowling going through publishers and the importance of persistence. This sentiment, lobbed one year into the global recession just reads as incredibly tone deaf and outdated. Was it too much to provide us a healthier and less ambitious as mythologized role model?
I find two problems with this narrative. No 1, this can-do-attitude style undermines the relevance of massive institutions and systems. Publishing is incredibly competitive and 12 rejections is the lesson that should have been taken from that story. Then of course there’s poverty and the freedom to create that financial security and independence brings with leisure time. No 2, this is the kind of astronomical success and cultural cache that only one person can enjoy in a generation. Aside from being more privileged than we were told by the media and misinformed parents and teachers, I can’t help but feel that some of the success of Harry Potter is in some ways accidental. This is not to say the books didn’t have something to them or that Rowling is a crap writer (she’s not) but rather that it wasn’t that alone that got them to where they are. It’s like telling kids if they practice their instruments hard enough they can become The Beatles or The Rolling Stones.
The UK publisher only read the first 60 pages until his daughter convinced him to publish the book. Sometimes these kinds of chances are that arbitrary. How many other authors out there went to 12 different publishing houses with work just as good as JK’s and didn’t have an executive’s child on their side?
It really makes you think about the quality of writing that publishers expect and the biases they inhabit and the whims they can be persuaded on.
Another interesting thing to take note of, Verily Bitchie also mentions how 3 days after the UK publication of the first book, Scholastic won the bidding war for the US publishing rights of the first novel and purchased it for $105,000 which was “practically unheard of a the time for a children’s novel” remarking on the marketing speculation and merchandise tie-ins they saw latent in the text.
So much has been made of Rowling as a writer and who she is as a person, but I think not everyone talks about her as a role model.
The danger of holding her up as a role model of hard work, talent and persistence Is this her success is more a matter of winning the lottery. Not because her books eventually sold and enjoyed popularity but because no other living author has enjoyed this amount of success or even had this kind of a book to franchise business model. Who failed to model more attainable and less outer space aspirational examples of success in our lives on the eve of a global recession and the decline of homeownership and the ability to afford basic living expenses.

I can't remember the name of the show but it's about a group of kids living in a town where strange things happen. At one point the kids get stuck on a farm, they see the farmer purposely sabotage the bus so they have to stay overnight. They discover that the farmer made t-Rex sheep hybrids. Another episode features the mooch of the school getting a pair of x-ray glasses that actually work. He makes money off of this and even manages to catch the attention of a kid he owes money to, his greed catches up to him when he orders a greedy fingers magic money box. This entire time he has been using the buy now pay later plan. He is paying with more than money though, as he desperately shakes the box it is empty and he's left to meet his fate. does anyone else remember this?

Has anyone created patches that apply the elemental combo system found in Phenderix's magic mods to vanilla spells and spell packs like Odin, Mysticism, Elemental Destruction Magic Redux, and Spell Siphon? It's a pretty old mod but it appears to have an internal synergy that would make sense to expand to the other elemental spells in a load order to avoid confusion when an effect you're expecting doesn't go off because the elemental spell you're using isn't from Phenderix's pack.

I'm not sure I have all the rules right but I think it's close. I also think this first mission is difficult for a solo investigator. My primary use for this is a large screen/dual screen for work because I am hotdesk for work very often and its very cumbersome to lug large screens around every few hours. I ordered and received the nReal Air yesterday and have some issues I ran into. Any thoughts/solutions/tricks would be appreciated.
I have it currently hooked up to my windows 10 laptop. It works but only shows one screen. Is it possible to make it dual screen on the Nreal Air? I bought a dummy USB C but I haven't figured out how to make it work yet. Is there a way to configure or does it require a Nebula for windows app?
Sound on Nreal Air. Yesterday when I tried it, I got sound to come out of the glasses. But today, sound would not come out of glasses. It kept coming from the computer.
I can't see the top of the "screen" very well. I realized if I push the glasses up higher, I can see the whole screen well. I haven't tried the other nose pieces yet, but is that the only solution? Is there a way to move the "screen" around?
I was a little disappointed with screen size- I use a 24" monitor IRL and it felt smaller than that. Certainly not 210". Is there a way of making this bigger? Some of the data I read for work are in Excel spreadsheets and its easier when I can see more at once.
I haven't tried yet on my Macbook m2. I assume it should work better since it has Nebula support. Since I like the Windows OS better, I tend to use Parallels or RDP into a Windows desktop on my Macbook. Anyone have any experience with how well this setup works?
Bought a second hand xperia phone. Not sure what it would do as I haven't received it yet to test. But it seems that Samsung phones are recommended because of their software.
The QR code on the welcome paper does not work. Maybe it has to do with the new name change, but changing URL to xreal.com leads to nowhere.
I manually tried to firmware update, but it failed at 4%. Is there any added value to a firmware update?

This is probably going to be a long post sorry. Anyways.
While yes, the game is kind of centered around Shimura and Jin and the relationship between them, which is close to that of parent and child. I'm not only referring to that part.
Throughout the story Shimura berates you on how bad your actions are and gives zero leeway to other tactics and methods to defeat the Mongols. Speaking as if he was %100 in the right, and that the shoguns law is the only way and any other way is at best wrong and at worst blasphemous. Even though his methods are failing he still insists on them because that's just the way it has to be.
The shogun (being the grandparent) is never fully proud of their child and their tolerance for mistakes is damn near none, even though they are responsible for the failures of their child. Shimura rallies the five clans and goes to battle the way he is taught (and forced tbh) and predictably fails. The shogun is mad because his child failed, even though that is the way they themselves would've done it. The children (being Jin and people of Tsushima) try to find another way to solve the problem but the father is mad that his child didn't follow their teachings and that of their grandfather. The same teachings that failed them and harmed them.
So the grandfather is not happy with the father, the father is not happy with his children, and the problem remains unsolved. No matter what you do someone will be majorly upset. So you're presented with a few option.
A: The father rebels (as in not following the code, not straight up rebellion) against the grandfather, saving himself and his children but drawing the anger of the grandfather.
B: The children rebel against the father, drawing the anger of both the father and the grandparent.
C: Sticking to the grandfathers teaching.
Option A is impossible, because the grandparent has such a tight grip on their child mentally that the child won't even think of going against them. So you only have B and C, and only one of them solves the problem at hand.
The only option that might end with someone of the three being happy is option C, where the child rebels and saves themselves before they end up like their parent.
That's why through two playthroughs of the game I always chose to spare Shimura. Not because I hate him or wish harm on him, but because I refuse to be in the crossfire of the toxic relationship between him and the shogun (Grandparent and parent). And in killing him I'm just putting myself in that crossfire.
TL:DR: Shogun is old angry grandfather and Shimura is pushover child, harming their own child in the process..etc.
I don't even know why I wrote this but I couldn't get it out of my head just how similar that dynamic was to a toxic 3 generation relationship. Please comment your thoughts in this if it interested you.

But it cost too much when you salary is around 1000€ and car cost ir around 4000€. What do you think?
So I have never ordered that service, but my car I believe was never fully cleaned. So I can spend my time on removing everything behind the seats., etc., but I'm curious, is it worth to buy some chemicals by myself? I found that "Turtle Wax" cleaning chemicals are pretty popular, but are they good? Is it worth to buy some kind of that and use? For example how to handle dust in the card? If I use simple methods like water + napkin so after few days car saloon is full of dusts again. So if I buy some chemicals like Turtle Wax, it will be better? Or only the way is to buy chemical cleaning?
