So perhaps you saw my in-depth test drive of a Sebo E3/K3 yesterday and wondered if I'd do a Miele C3 test drive. Turns out YES, yes I would/did/am. Now when reading these comments please remember my use case - 80% hard flooring (but moving in a couple years and who knows what the flooring might be at the new house). 3000 total square feet. Three levels. And two rag doll cats that shed their undercoats of fine, fluffy fur EVERYWHERE. Here's yesterday's thread:

So I went to the OTHER vacuum shop in town, which again sells both but primarily Miele. And as expected, they recommended the HomeCare+. First the pricing: $1200 with a bunch of extras (and of course the 5 year bumper to bumper). They also would include: multi-floor, SEB228 power brush, the oversized horsehair dusting brush (with multi-way articulation), the two-foot-long flexible crevice tool, and the parquet twister.
First Impression - build. It's also pretty light - a touch bigger than the E3 but they weigh almost the same, by my measurement. The canister itself feels roughly as well built as the Sebo from the outside. The hose is longer, and the wand is MUCH beefier. I know that in practice the Sebo's wand is probably easier to fix/maintain but the Miele's aluminium telescoping rod just feels beefier. Also no exposed wires. Don't know if that matters. The Miele felt nicer to hold - the handle grip was slightly larger which worked better for my XL hands. The onboard tools are not any better than the Sebo, TBH. Just pretty basic.
Second impression - it is also quiet. Maybe a touch louder than the Sebo, or the store could have been quieter than the other store. Definitely still REALLY quiet. But, to be fair there's no air belt AND it's fully HEPA - which the Sebo is not. The SEB228 head is in fact louder than the ET-1, but nowhere near as loud as some videos might suggest. Maybe they're having QC issues? One thread suggested that their old one was quieter than the new one, and that they tried one at the store that was also loud. Well, this one wasn't.
Third impression - suction. The low is lower than Sebo's low, but the high is much higher than Sebo's high. So that's a thing. Bigger motor, I suspect. Low is specifically for drapes though, so they might actually have purposely geared it SUPER low for a reason. I'd say it works kind of like:
Dyson v8 low < Miele low < Dyson high < Sebo low < Sebo high < Miele high.
Fourth impression - attachments. The parquet twister is just as awesome as everyone says. Edge suction is STELLAR on it. The SEB228 is far better than you'd think - even on bare floor. It also does include the auto-shutoff in the newest iteration (he sucked up a towel to demonstrate). It was, however, HEAVY. Like "glad it's self propelled" heavy. Twice as heavy as the ET-1. That's a thing. The turbo pet tool ($50 extra for the non-Miele-branded Wessel Werk) was great.
He didn't have an SEB336 head out to test, so I can't give my impressions of that. The multi-floor tool is... super unexciting and unlikely to ever be used. The fancy dusting brush is significantly nicer than Sebo's. The crevice tool is ... long and flexible.
Fifth impression - service and warranty. If I buy the Homecare+, it's pretty much the same as the Sebo. Tune-ups included, 5 year bumper to bumper. And while I was there a lady came in with a 15 year old Miele that had lost some suction. They quoted her $99 to tear it down, overhaul it, and repair the suction issue. She was worried it would be more, and he jokingly said "well if you're really worried a new one is $350, I won't overcharge for labor!" and quoted the lower rate.
Sixth impression - filtration. Well, here's the thing. This guy DID know HEPA from S-Class. And it IS better. A little noisier? Yeah, so is a HEPA air purifier compared to non-HEPA. The real question is "do you need HEPA", not "is this a good filter". Those of us that want to see PerformanceReviews magic zero emissions... may want a Miele:

(Bear in mind that the ambient is 150k, and Sebo brings it to around 7k or even lower, and that's all particles down to 0.2micron... also bear in mind that dust mites and their droppings are much larger than that, and 100% blocked by both units. So is pollen, and pet dander.)
I will, however, say that the auto-closing bag flap is nice. Not that you open the bag compartment much, but when you do Miele auto-ejects the bag slightly and closes the flap so you don't have to fumble around for it, discover it broke off and fish it out of the body cavity all while compressing the bag and pushing dust out. So that's a win for the Miele.
Seventh impression - fit and finish. I'll say that it's close. The Sebo is probably a LITTLE more snugly built, if I'm being honest. When I opened up the Miele, it was easy to take the cover hinge off its tracks and remove it entirely. But it went right back in, so maybe this is a design feature rather than a flaw. The HEPA filter is sealed really well. The bag seals really well. The pre-motor filter is more substantial than I was expecting. And the bag is a SERIOUS THING. Sebo's bags are good, but the bag on the Miele is REALLY GOOD. This unit was smooth like the Sebo, but in a more "aluminium and strong materials" way than in a "industrial plastic and lightweight" way. The hose and wand together are probably heavier than the Sebo, so if I did the ceiling fans a lot it'd likely be a consideration.
Verdict: I need to talk it over with the wife. If the filtration was equal, I'd be buying the Sebo no question - my gut reaction is that the Sebo's build quality is just higher. But since the Sebo would cost nearly $1400 to kit out, let's do the math on the Miele - $1200 plus the turbo pet tool ($50) plus the Soniclean-branded Wessel Werk RD285 for $40. So I'm at around $1300 in Miele land. So roughly the same, or even slightly cheaper, than the Sebo.

Hi, my garage has crappy particle-board siding that takes a ton of maintenance and looks awful. I'd like to replace it and a contractor quoted me a pretty nice price using Home Depot's vinyl siding.
I don't care about insulation (it's a detached garage) and don't mind if it looks a little cheap (I'll have trellises along most of the visible parts). I'm mostly interested in low maintenance. I live in NE Ohio so aside from seasonal temperature fluctuations, we don't really get any extreme weather here.
Is there anything I should be aware of with regards to this brand? Are there any better recommendations in a similar price range?

I created it to address some of the issues I had when working with current providers (e.g. coinmarketcap / coingecko). Main things being:

• Low resolution (can only get hourly or daily price data but I need 1min or even second data)
• Limited historical data (no historical data or less than 1 year)
• Data is super delayed - coinmarketcap update frequency of OHLC data is something like 5-10minutes

With the risk of being the local weirdo, I did a post a while ago about an old crush. I sent her some messages on Instagram, she never read them. I tagged her at some point in a common discussion, and she ignored me. All these after she replied/made some contact with me for a while on a FB group. Again, I don't want to bother her, my thoughts don't really make sense since she's a crush that reappeared in my life after 10 years. The sun had finally set on the town stained red with the putrid, stagnant blood of the hours before, an atmosphere that should have lead to an painfully uncomfortable tension and sense of dread hanging over the town. The small town located fae from any major city, located all the way out in the boonies, the people of the town had enjoyed an almost perfect existence away from the bustle and the politics of the kingdoms powerhouse cities, with the closest the town ever getting to weighing in on global events was the ever frequent platoon of troops appearing to scout and draft new recruits for the kings army, yet the town knew that if this was the price to pay for their simple way of life, it'd be one they'd gladly take. This was not to say the town was free of problems, with it's own sub culture and a plethora of races calling the town home, it wasn't a perfect society but it was theirs nonetheless.
However, peace in times like these never trully lasted long, as ambushes on traders and muggings became a part of their everyday life, it was only long before the culprits became dissatisfied with the scraps they could manage to snatch from the various merchants, and set their sights on sieging the town itself. Even though a bandit with a conscience made it into the town square to give the people warning, their was only so much a town with not enough true soldiers and barely enough men to put every weapon they had to use. Even though this thought would be clear to any outsider or even any onlooker with any sense of logic, the town bowed their heads and banded together for the oncoming slaughter. Barricades were set up in the town square and every person who either couldn't hold a weapon or couldn't afford to be lost in battle held up in the middle of the town offering whatever aid they could as the bandits finally descended on the town.
The young women dressed in white and adorned with intricate and almost hypnotic golden lining was to no surprise to anyone, not from the small town. Ophelia herself had been raised by the church, with not a single memory left of anything that came before her time as part of the doctrine, with the church and the faith being all she had ever known since such a young age. The girl had been raised as a part of a programme, belonging to a very specific sect of the church to raise a new generation of exemplary figures to lead and carry out the will of their lord throughout the land, being not only well versed in every religious text and passage their was, but also being trained in a passable level of combat along with the church's own ever elusive branch of holy magic.

She barely got a minute to enjoy herself, between bites groups of people at a time would come up to thank her and offer her tokens and praise, as she gladly accepted their kind words, giving her work that feeling of purpose that she had always strived for.
The only thing that bothered the girl was a new face in the tavern, someone that she couldn't place from her walks of the town, congregation or even the battle that happened prior, which confused the girl greatly as she felt the eyes on her every now and then. The face dissapeared eventually as she shook her head, returning to her food as her bodyguard gets up to speak to a few of the men that he had met earlier, as the girl is now left alone to her devices as she continues with her food, her mind still trying to place the face she had just seen.

Humans Gonna Human: Why Brittany Deserved to be Blocked
Recently Destiny reviewed a Brittany Simon stream in which she made a number of claims about Destiny in contrast to herself and Sneako. What ensued was about an hour of discussion including Chaeiry, Dan, NotSoErudite, Melina, and Pisco. As the conversation continued Destiny took the step to block Brittany on everything. I believe that most of this discussion missed the core of Destiny's problem with Brittany and I am going to be laying out what that problem is, and why I think Destiny is right.
Mask Off Destiny's review starts and becomes inflamed by a number1 of2 claims3 Brittany makes about Steven. While these are what kicked this entire thing off its important to note that Destiny clarifies that this is not his problem. That becomes clear when Dan enters the call and Destiny says the following:

Here's the issue Dan, ok. Lets say hypothetically you gave a take that I thought sounded like a little bit strange and like... [Dan]: Would you completely throw me under the bus and be done with me? [Destiny]: No no no no its not about that, but lets say lets say we're talking and you say something about "oh yeah like uh it was crazy when uh you know like that conservative you were arguing with like he brought up the crime stats some of them are true right?" Lets say we have like a convo you bring that up, lets say later on I'm talking to my stream and I'm like its kinda weird that like Dan I think is a like a race realist. I think he thinks that black people are like inferior to other people. If you heard me say that in your mind would you think "oh I need to have a conversation with Steven and just kind of like right the ship because he misunderstood me" or in your mind would you be thinking like how the fuck can Steven think this about me after one random quip I said. It just it feels like such a ridiculous thing to correct on. Would you want to have a conversation with me convincing me your not racist?

These takes Brittany provides about Destiny not being open or anti sex work are just the straw that broke the camels back, the real problem as we can see is that Steven does not want to be close or friends with someone who thinks so poorly of his character. When two friends are confronted with a deep disagreement it can often result in fights, and if these fights become vicious enough the friendship itself can be destroyed. Why is it that at the start and end of a conversation the disagreement remains the same, but only at the end do friends sometimes feel the need to part ways? The answer is that the friendship is not breaking because of the disagreement but because the friends no longer perceive the character of the other the same.

This is because Brittany is short cutting to the real reason for friendships to break, she believes that Destiny's character is significantly poor. Interestingly, typically you would expect Brittany to then be the one to confront Destiny, though from what limited information we have about an off stream conversation that did happen, it seems this was not the case. This leaves Destiny in a very strange position, as Brittany seemingly has no problem maintaining the relationship while simultaneously holding that Steven is, in a round about way, a bad person. Imagine your close friend Bob informs you that he thinks you are a bad person who only uses Bob for your own happiness. You are shocked, but despite this Bob insists he has no problem continuing your friendship. How would you react? Could you honestly say that this would change nothing and you can simply go on being friends. While some might say yes, I suspect most would feel uncomfortable being so close with someone who views them so badly even if the relationship was perfectly amicable on its surface. Once this belief about Destiny was settled in Brittany's mind there is very little that could be done to avoid this problem. Beliefs while conscious are not something we choose, if you asked someone who didn't to believe in Islam they might try, but wouldn't be able to. Even in a world where you can perfectly deceive others, you are doing just that, deceiving them. Brittany can no more choose to change her belief about Destiny than we could choose to believe that 1+1=3 with the limits of the human mind, in other words humans gonna human. Changing her mind would require a conversation, which we already know Steven is not interested in, and probably more than a conversation it would require time.
Change my Mind Even if all of this is true (it is), blocking without even talking is a severe step, why then is it justified? As we have seen, Destiny does not want to even entertain a talk about this, but why? Character assessments are very difficult to make, unlike other descriptive claims they rely heavily on a "vibe" built up from every interaction you have had with a person. Those of you who have had the pleasure to debate family or friends on the character of Trump will know that even when you nail down a specific example of something a person can, even reasonably, say that this single example is not enough to change their mind. It is extremely difficult to talk about, especially when the character in question is one of the people in the conversation. Most key, the simple belief itself is the thing that is most distressing. Going back to the example of Bob, even if none of the behavior in the friendship changed it would still be deeply uncomfortable/upsetting to know he felt that way about you. This means the conversation must lead to a change in the belief upon its conclusion, a very difficult thing to do in any context, and even more difficult in a personal one. It makes sense then given the low chance of success and high cost associated with having the conversation that Destiny would rather burn the bridge now.
Brittany So then why would Brittany do this? It seems rather odd to come to such a negative conclusion about Destiny and not follow up with any kind of conversation or confrontation. I think that if most people came to a troubling conclusion about their friend they would reach out to try and clarify. Setting aside the fact that there could be conversations we are not privy to I am going to make the case that while unusual for others this is actually very consistent with Brittany's behavior. Brittany often wields descriptors at people that most people would take as condemnations of character but she does not. From the levels system, to "humans gonna human" Brittany often deals with subject matter that everyone else views as extremely damning with ambivalence. It then makes quite a bit of sense that Brittany would feel perfectly fine simultaneously believing Destiny to be all the horrible things she stated, and still be friends/friendly with him. After all, humans gonna human.
Steel Woman Lastly I would like to address the arguments put forward by NotSoErudite and Melina. While they bring valuable insights, I believe their conclusions and prescriptions are wrong. In this part of the conversation there is a repeated point about boundaries and a lack of Destiny asserting them. If only Destiny had told Brittany to not do this it would have been averted. I think this is incorrect, Destiny clarifies that the problem exists at the point of her belief which means this boundary would either have to be Steven telling Brittany that she can't think about him in this way something that Brittany can't consciously stop herself from doing and a huge overstep in boundaries, or Brittany simply keeping her opinion about Steven to herself which sets up a friendship based on deception and lies. A boundary about public shit talking could have mitigated this problem, but In my view given what we have established already in this post it would have only delayed the inevitable. We can further explore this conclusion by contrasting the burning of the Brittany bridge with how Destiny is able to handle public shit talk over other issues. Many a time Destiny has argued quite vigorously with Pisco, but as they both mentioned they are able to enjoy their fights and move on, Destiny has mentioned the same about Richard Lewis and his family growing up. Destiny even mentions Lav and how this Brittany video felt like all of Lav's previous arguments, but it was only in the final Lav arguments where the subject became the character of Steven himself that the bridge broke. The difference is that these arguments do not have to deal with the character of the participants, the reason they can be "chill after" as Destiny puts it is because nothing about the argument effected the relationship itself. It is perfectly possible to agree to disagree about Trump being smart or NATO being ok, but it is much less possible to agree to disagree about one of the conversation participants being a bad person. We can also use this analysis to see why certain arguments are more prone to destroy friendships because the descriptive disagreement is highly adjacent to moral questions. Think about how much easier it is to amicably disagree over which video game is better than it is to over immigration, especially if one of the people is themselves an immigrant. The pro immigration participant will start to wonder if the anti immigration participant is hateful or bigoted, in other words, a bad person. This holds true for general political discourse where things become much more heated over the perception that Republicans are racist than it does over the perception that Republicans are wrong about low taxes helping the economy.
Conclusions While I think valid points were brought up about boundaries and the expectations of orbiters in their relationship with Destiny this problem fundamentally comes down to a perception that is not compatible with friendship. There is probably something to be said for how the abrasive nature of Steven can lead to those conclusions, but as he has said many times he is ok with his combative nature making it so that some people will never like him. I doubt that he would feel any differently about his combative nature making it so some people come to negative character conclusions of him which in turn make friendships impossible.

Hello! I was hoping I could get an opinion on which car is better.
1.) 2008 Honda Civic LX, 75k miles, $9.4K price.
Vs
2.) 2012 Honda Accord LX (manual transmission), 105k miles, $9.2K price.
I test drove the Civic and it’s drive clean. Only down side is I heard Gen 8 Civics has cracked engine block defect, but it’s impossible to tell if it’s gonna happen. Old owner didn’t get it warranty since they didn’t know it was problem.
I’m test driving the Accord after work. I honestly like the styling of Accord and manual transmission is a huge plus for me. Only thing is it’s 105K miles.
Love other people thoughts. Mainly gonna be used as a commuter.
PPI will be done before I finalize anything.

Need a 2-in-1 for note taking with a screen size of 13 - 14” and at least 16GB of ram, definitely nothing 15” or over. From there I would prioritise:

1. Battery Life (ideally would last all day, at least multiple note-taking lectures and a lab per day)
2. Performance (want something snappy that can handle VSCode, MATLAB, Office Suite, multiple Chrome tabs with ease, light gaming would be a plus but not a deal breaker without)
3. Size/Weight/Fan Noise/Ports (want USB-C charging and decent port selection i.e. HDMI 2.0, USB-A and C, low fan noise and small form factor but these aren’t deal breakers)
4. Display (better display tech like higher resolution and OLED would be nice but not at the expense of battery life)

Important but at 13-14”, I don’t imagine any modern (non-gaming) laptop would be that bulky.

Looking for a laptop for note taking and coding during CS lectures and labs. Lots of maths lectures so need pen input which is why I’ve specified a 2-in-1. I have other more powerful devices for gaming and other resource intensive tasks and better screens for media consumption so don’t need that here but would be willing to pay a premium for a dGPU if battery life weren’t compromised.
Currently looking at 2 decent candidates under £800, both supposed to have good battery life and decent performance but I’m unsure how to pick between them. My options are the Lenovo Yoga 6 13 with a Ryzen 5 7530U/len101y0027) for £720 and a HP Envy x360 13 with an i7-1250U for £765. They both have 16GB of ram and 512GB SSDs. I think the AMD processor is noticeably better but the iGPU is considerably worse. Both supposedly have great battery life for Windows machines but the Envy has a bigger battery and I’m unsure which would last longer in a real world scenario. The Lenovo is cheaper, but not by much so that’s not much of a factor to me and the Envy comes with an extended 3 year warranty. If anyone can help me compare these 2 or suggest an alternative, that would be much appreciated. I don’t need a laptop right away, so if there’s anything worth waiting for, I’m open to that too.

Last season was my first year of track(sophomore year) and went from 1:06 to 54 in the 400 and did cross-country and distance training that season, now as a junior I am SIGNIFICANTLY faster and can run a 100 almost 1.5 seconds faster(13.5 end of last season to low 12 on first day of practice) but I'm struggling to catch up to where I was due to stamina in the last 100.
Today I did a rough time trial in the morning and got a low 57 despite some drawbacks but at the 200 and even 300 mark I was on time for a low 50 but significantly slowed down in the last 100.
My problem with training is that the sprint coaches rarely do any lactic work so I don't know when to train that without compromising time in training or overtraining.
Here is our rough training block so far:
Monday: Sprints & lifting (hard day but I have some time after lifting to work on stuff) the sprints are rather random, sometimes 40's, sometimes 200's
Tuesday: drill/form work and starts, also have time on this day and it's fairly medium/easy intensity but sometimes it's a hard day.
Wednesday: usually day before meet so very easy.
Thursday: Meet
Friday: usually same as tuesday but a little easier since people are sore.
Again kind of want to adjust this because it's kind of unstructured and whenever I bring it up to the coaches they tell me to trust the process but I haven't made any 400 improvements since starting this season of track and all of my speed improvements came from my off season practice.

I'm looking for a good option for low waste butter packaging. Most of the ones I see are in plastic tubs and I can only use so many of them. Unfortunately homemade butter is not an option for us.
Is there a specific brand that has compostable inner packaging? The recyclable cardboard outer portion is great, but I usually end up having to just throw away the inner piece that the blocks are wrapped in.

Was trying to backtest an options strategy which was performing way below expectations. When I digged into the numbers saw the root cause:iv. I was under the assumption that at a vix of 12, option prices would be half of what it is now. But it turned out way way worse. Just for instance a 2% otm spx call(7 days out, strike price 3155) on 2019 was 0.2$, just for comparison, the same thing is 15$ today, a whopping 100x difference!!! Will any theta strategy work during those phases?
P.S. I understand that there might be other stocks which might have earnings, but given this low volatility, even the rates during earnings would be fraction of what it is today

I bought Yakuza 0 as it's on sale on Xbox. I'm playing on normal difficulty, everything was going fine until the area leading upto him but I figured out the best strategy of Rush mode to build up heat and the switch to brawler to finish the mooks off. Had some issues, still not sure the timing of some attacks like the big dude who had the sofa. It was either he attacked with no clear signal he was about to (and I mean he would raise the sofa and immediately swung it) or he just stood there, letting me wail on him. But then I fought the boss.
It took me around ten tries to finally beat him and I had to drop to easy difficulty. I tried what I did on the mooks to some success but whenever I did get him near half health on his second bar, he proceeds to just ignore everything I do and whoops my ass in about no time flat. My best attempt had him that low, I had three quarters of health and he performs an all out offensive blocking or ignoring all my attacks, and I'm dead like a minute later.
I must be missing something with the combat but it feels like enemies can block a hell of alot better than in other games. Also they attack like enemies in Batmam: Arkham Origins which is not a good sign, basically attack frequently enough you can't get a good flow going.
