Since I last posted I have received more interest as a candidate for entry level jobs now that it is getting closer to graduation time. Among others, I keep getting messages from Revature. I know they are supposed to be one of those companies that hire entry level developers and will train them, but is it worth doing? I have this weird bias against them because I feel like it is scammy sort of. I get that they are a real business and all but something doesn’t sit right with me about them. I have received actual offers from two other employers that I am not allowed to name, but their processing is going to take quite a while due to the fact that I will have to wait to get a security clearance. I would like to at least look into other options that may get me started earlier, and Revature is sort of tempting. Does anyone have experience with them? Was it worth working for them?

I am a Bharatanatyam dancer, a classical Indian dance form that emphasizes emotional expression. And the “navarasa”, or the nine essential human emotions, are a cornerstone of this dance form.
And there is a quote in Bharatanatyam about the connection between the navarasa and physical expression of emotion: “Yatho Hasta thatho Drishti, Yatho Drishti thatho Manah, Yatho Manah thatho Bhaava, Yatho Bhaava thatho Rasa”.
What this means is: Where the Hands go, the Eyes should follow, Where the Eyes go, the Mind should follow, Where the Mind goes, the Emotions are generated.
And this quote is essentially saying that our actions/habits determine our state of mind. Not vice versa.
However, often when we want to change some aspect of our lives, we try to do it through sheer willpower. We try to start by changing our mindset, by convincing ourself that we can improve our diet or quit an addictive or unhealthy behavior through sheer willpower. We try to change our actions/habits by changing our mindset.
Except this doesn’t work. Relying on brute force and sheer willpower doesn’t work. In fact, most people who try to use sheer willpower to change their diet will fail. And the reason why so many diets fail is because people try to fix their mindset before fixing their habits.
Instead, we need to start with small habits and surround ourselves with people who will force us to follow a regiment or habit, regardless of whether we are initially in a good headspace. And after consistently following that good action/habit, our mindset will improve.

Back in the day, I was a commuter that lived at home with crazy religious fanatic parents until I got my own place so I’d spend most of my time studying at the library / different buildings or in friends’ apartments, so basically I would spend entire days here on campus or in the Richardson area just doing anything I could to stay away from home (which is probably why I made lots of friends here being all involved and all).
I’m currently making six figures working at a big tech company in the west coast. UTD gave me a lot and I mean a lot. I wouldn’t be where I am in life today without UTD. I wouldn’t have met my wife or started a family if it weren’t for this school.
Education: The education here is amazing (now, third best in Texas Amazing) I loved my profs and was really close with them. Back then class sizes were significantly smaller so I truly bonded with the professors and saw them as “wise” friends.
Student body: The people here are amazing and smart and I hear that UTD continues to recruit the smart achievers from high school. I was friends with so many bright minded people that are working big tech jobs today or have gone on to become doctors and lawyers graduating from the best med /law schools.
College experience: For me personally I loved the nerdy culture here. Sure UTD was/is not a party haven or have any sort of party environment here, but the fact of the matter is college is about academics and studying. College was never meant to be about partying or jumping of roofs or whatever we see on TikTok. 2023.03.31 07:22 Swikkedvenom Can’t figure out stringing issue
So I had been printing stuff for a few weeks. No problems at all. I had an issue and had to change the nozzle and tube. Now every print is stringing. I have spent all day playing with retraction settings. I even did the 2 pole model and did every distance from 0-7 in 0.5 increments. All of them had stringing. I thought I got it lessened down with one and tried to print and the print has a lot of stringing. The same prints that had no issues before. I’m not sure what happened or why. I’ve read so much online and tried like everything including changing the temperature. It’s an Ender 3v2 and I’m using Cura to splice. I’ve tried retraction speed, distance, and have combining on to not skin. Getting really frustrating because it’s seeming like I just can’t fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated

Something happened today that has never happened to me and my son before and I cannot stop thinking about it.
I first want to say that my son is for the most part very well behaved, especially in a public place. He is 9 and we have never had issues with misbehavior in school or anything. Today my son and I were in a local store (it’s a chain pharmacy) and I was looking at the Easter stuff and he was behind me bouncing a small bouncy ball on the carpeted floor and was standing in place in the middle of the aisle next to the basket where the balls were. No one else was on the aisle with us. He had maybe been bouncing it at the max 30 seconds when a woman’s voice came overhead over the speaker and said “Do not bounce balls in the store.” There was no worker in sight so that means it was someone watching us on the cameras. He immediately put the ball back in the crate beside him before I ever had time to turn around and look at him. He was so embarrassed and at the time I laughed and said “bet you won’t do that again”. But the more I have thought about it the more upset I am getting about it. I’m probably over reacting because this woman doesn’t know my kid and I’m sure working in customer service she’s seen her share of destruction from children/adults but on the other hand I wish she would have just come up to us and say something instead of saying it across the entire store.
I guess I just wanted to get opinions on if I should just let it go or if I should have said something?

Pay attention to your routes. Zoom in. Instacart is shorting you miles. If the road curves slightly instacart will just go straight on it’s route. They just go with the cheapest option for them. Usually leaving you miles away from all the stores taking tons of time to get back accepting an order only to drive 30 minutes to the store had they routed orders in our favor where we head back to the store with the last order. it’s then they have to pay the whole distance to the furthest and then the mileage back. This way they only pay one way and the cheapest way… it’s not even legit either. Pay attention to your miles. Why do you think they don’t let you look at mileage. You can not track mileage anyway at all on the app. Hmm wonder why. If you short your 600,000+ daily employees 0.01 of a mile on every trip that’s millions saved each and every week by being shady. I may have just stumbled on this massive labor law.
