2023.03.31 18:15 Mr_Sinist3r Need feedback on a potential light gaming + productivity build

Building my first PC in over a decade. Have mostly been using a i7 7700HQ laptop for general and photo editing use. Also have an old xbox one that I've used for casual gaming in the past but don't really consider myself a gamer.
In short, don't have that laptop anymore and would like to use the opportunity to build a new machine. Have a starting point but I feel I am definitely getting carried selecting higher end components than are needed for my use. I will use it for general productivity (office work), photo and video editing, and occasional gaming (very satisfied with 1440p, don't care much for 4k at the moment).
Note, I will probably keep this as is for the next 5 years unless a use case comes up that warrants a full upgrade.
Also, I am based out of Sweden and components prices are skewed so decision making will be based not just on performance differentiation but also $$$
Here is the list -
Couldn't find MSI MAG Z790-P Wifi DDR5 in the list so went with the Tomahawk but will be buying the former! Will also consider adding some cheaper storage (2-4tb) at some point.
I doubt my use case will see much difference in DDR4 vs DDR5 and I am very unlikely to OC but would like to invest sensibly. I see I could save about 160USD if I go for a z690 and DDR4 build instead.
The equivalent price that I see for the above build in Sweden (sourced from Amazon) is about 1750 USD. Ideally, I would like to fit the PC and a good monitor (200-300usd) within approximately 1800 USD.

2023.03.31 18:14 HappyObject8328 Price checks please

Random price check. What's everyone paying for the bouncing ball or the whole game? Midwest here, 100-200 a B. My mind has me curious as I've lived in other places and I'd imagine the same B ball is like 40 bucks down south in ABQ.

2023.03.31 18:10 Exotic_Nectarine_448 Advice and help (dentist)

Hi ! I recently got a tooth pain so i decided its time to visit a dentist ( iam a ukrainian refugee) and i dont have an insurance sadly. But! I was willing to pay well what i thought would be enough 200-300€ as i googled it was a standard price. So i have visited SK Dental Bratislava They were good they helped in a urgent hours coz i had pulpitis. Then they injected me with anesthesia and, as the doctor explained, they injected it seems like acid and closed it with a temporary filling. All this cost me 100 euros, I gladly paid them. But then ... I had to go to the reception and they said that they only have an appointment for May 2 to close the channels, I'm worried that this is already in a month, because from what I read about pulpitis, it must be treated quickly, but I agreed because this is the only date. And she told me that the price for closing the channels will be from 460-700 euros ... i was filling a bit unwell after anesthesia so I just get upset and got home. I have downloaded they price info and i researched that there were no such prices for clothing a canal. I'm very sad and i tried to call them to maybe ask why there is such a price but lady on reception said that she is not speaking English and i need to call on Monday. how much does closing channels usually cost for you? Can you recommend another dental clinic where to go without insurance? Is it normal to wait a month for pulpitis treatment? Will be glad to hear any advice or help, thank u for attention

2023.03.31 17:31 Hoodies_On_the_Coast Semi-budget build with the i9-13900

Country: United States
Budget: Around $1400 (with some flex)
So I have a chance at getting an i9-13900 for about 50% off and I've been thinking about building a PC to save money over a pre-built. The issue I'm having is when I use the i9 I feel like I need to upgrade kind of everything to match the quality and my builds keep going $2,000+.
I've been using this build here as a base for my build but it currently sits at $1668, minus about $300 for the i9 puts as at $1368 but that doesn't include the power supply and storage and the 3060 is pretty underwhelming. Is there anything in here I can go a bit cheaper on to drive down the price so I can potentially splurge on a video card?
Video Card: This particular build uses an MSI RTX 3060 Ventus 3X 12G OC GeForce RTX 3060 12GB 12 GB Video Card but I think at minimum I would want to use a 3060ti if I can get my hands on it. But that adds $100 immediately.
CPU Cooler: Kind of out of my depth on this one, whatever the minimum required cooler is, is what I'm most likely going to go with. This is what my build has currently: Corsair iCUE H150i RGB ELITE 65.57 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Memory: I think 32 GB of RAM is enough. This is the one in the build G.Skill Ripjaws S5 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-5600 CL36 Memory but I think I can get away with the 32gb version G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory
Storage: 2 TB would be nice but a 1TB SSD would probably be more than adequate. This is the one on the build HP FX900 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive seems like these sell for around $150 so a little trimming here could be nice. Would I regret having less than 2 TB? 1TB alone seems like a lot.
Motherboard: Another area where I'm kind of out of my depth. I don't really need one with Wifi as I will be hardwired into my router. The build motherboard MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI ATX LGA1700. It didn't really seem like there was a price drop for the non-wifi version.
Case: I'm not too picky, this one came up in a few builds on PCPartspicker: the Lian Li case, also comes in white which I like.
Power Supply: Last time I'll mention being out of my depth. Whatever the near-minimum requirement is I'll take it. This is the build choice Rosewill Quark 1000 1000 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply. This one runs around $200.
So with a google search for prices and even with a discount this build is still sitting around (and probably well over if there are shipping costs) $1700. Where can I most effectively trim the fat on this without sacrificing too much in terms of performance? And ideally if I could get the price down quite a bit I'd love to upgrade at video card if I can. Any explanation on how to pick a motherboard, and such is also highly appreciated.

2023.03.31 17:24 blank69 Vacuum suggestion, 50/50 carpet/hardwood, ~$200 budget

Looking for a new vacuum, as mentioned in the title I'd like to keep it around, or ideally under, $200.
I'm moving to a new 1br apartment (~700sqft), which is about 50/50 carpet/hardwood. I do own a dog, so there will be pet hair, but it's not too bad (she's short hair, and doesn't shed all that much).
Each of the vacuums I've looked at in the recommended list seem to have either mixed reviews, or very strong reviews AGAINST them on this sub. I'm hoping for some advice, and maybe some suggestions.
I still can't quite figure out if I'd be better off with a canister or upright vacuum, given that the bedroom is carpeted, the living room/kitchen are hardwood (though I will throw a rug down in the living room for the dog to play on). There won't be any heavy shag carpets or anything, though.
Given the price point... I was looking at possibly the Kenmore 200 Series Canister, which is $200 on Amazon. Though I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews about quality, and that I shouldn't expect it to last long. Also looking at alternatives... like the Hoover Windtunnel, but the same situation - reviews don't seem incredible.
Would very much appreciate any suggestions! If there's a reason to go for canister vs upright, or a good deal in my price range, I'd love to hear any thoughts!

2023.03.31 17:19 raredontstare Bridezilla tries to scam bridesmaids.

I am NOT OP. Original post by u/ShamedShamingShamer in bridezillas

ORIGINAL POST - 24th June 2019 (Story shared by Bridesmaid's friend on Reddit.)
Several years ago, a friend of mine asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. There were six of us plus the MOH so seven total. The bride had picked out her dress already, one for the MOH, and one for the bridesmaids. The dress itself was lovely but a bit expensive at $400 each since two of us were still in college and the rest had recently graduated. I was one of the two still in college so money was super tight. Anyhow, the bride asked the MOH to coordinate with all of us for fittings/ alterations and such as one of her duties. The MOH decided she would pay for all of the dresses on her credit card because she wanted the air miles and we would pay her back directly. None of us minded, especially since she was going to let us pay her back in installments if we needed. I definitely needed.
I wasn't able to go with everyone to pick up the dresses because finals week and planned to go by myself the following weekend. No big deal. The MOH said she would pay for mine on the group trip but to call her if there were any issues with the dress itself and she would handle it. I get there and the dress fits perfectly. The shop owner scoots off while I'm changing back into my street clothes since she has another client coming in but confirms we're all set. As I'm walking out the door, another person working there yells out hey, that will be $200! I was stunned and totally mortified. I apologized and explained how I thought the MOH had paid for it the weekend before. The shop owner comes running over to diffuse the situation and confirmed the dress was paid for already. I turned to walk out and suddenly realized she said $200 and not $400.
Long story short, the dress was only $200. When I confronted the MOH about it, she spilled the beans. Apparently, the bride and MOH plotted together to charge us double to to help pay for the bride's dress. I let the rest of the bridesmaids know and four of us dropped out of the wedding immediately.

UPDATE - 13th July 2019
(These are Chat transcripts. Friend who posted the story to Reddit gets update from Bridesmaid and shares it on Reddit.)
I guess I half expected it to leak to the other shaming groups but I was unprepared for it to be blasted everywhere and come full circle. Lol. I don't even know where to begin. If I write it all out, will you share anonymously like the last time?

I think that's everything she shared with me. I'll reach out if I remember anything else. Please, make sure my name is covered.

Reminder - I am not the original poster.

2023.03.31 17:06 Adnyandy WTS 08/2011 Camo Microtech Ultratech T/e Full Serration

I have a used, older model here up for grabs today. My Father no longer carries it due to his arthritis, the infidel is easier to fire for him. It was very difficult for me to find comps online to price this guy. The best match I could find was a tan camo with tan hardware that was previously owned and sold on Arizona Custom Knives website in 2014. I think that 200$ shipped with PPFF is reasonable based on wear and age. This thing is solid and still fires with authority! I have a newer model to compare it to, and this is a beefier version with a switch button that is not so rough on the thumbs thanks to smoothing from use. Blade play is standard with the model in my experience. Switch rattles a bit when not engaged i imagine some oil/grease could help fix this. If you have any questions about it or want more pics let me know. I also called Microtech to see if we could identify the steel used but they said there was no way to do so from that far back. We did decide it was most likely to be s35vn or Elmax from date of manufacture and model. If anyone has more information on the knife that would lead to a more accurate price, let me know. Otherwise SV is 200$ PPFF no trades atm, OBRO.
