2023.03.30 17:31 MelasD Amelia: The Level Zero Hero Chapter 88

Synopsis:

Ten years ago, Amelia woke up alone and lost in a broken world where she had to fight for her survival.
Now, after reaching the pinnacle of power, defeating the Void itself, and escaping the abyss, she has finally found her way back into the real world. But instead of finding herself on Earth, she is in the land of Vacuos. A fantasy world with magic, monsters, Classes, and Levels. A world that is governed by a System like it were a video game.
And when rewarded with a Class befitting her accomplishments— to become a powerful [Hero] that will forever dedicate her life to protecting this world that is not her own— she only has one response.
“Absolutely not. I’m going to live a normal life now, thank you very much.”
After all, who needs a Class when you're already the strongest anyways?
Read Chapter 1 Here
Garron sprinted out of the farm as soon as he heard the news. Wolfwater was under attack, and Noele was in danger. A kretus boar had appeared, tearing its way straight to the village. But it wasn’t just any ordinary kretus boar. Supposedly, it was a Void-touched kretus boar.
A [Druid] had warned him about this mutated monster— one that was apparently a friend of Noele’s family. He had been at Wolfwater with the blonde girl when the monster appeared. But he wasn’t strong enough to help her out, so he quickly returned to Nolan and Nicole to warn them and protect them.
But Garron was the Steel Tank. He was a B-ranked adventurer on the cusp of Level 50. While he wasn’t nearly as strong as Noele, he believed he would be able to help her out. So despite Dorien’s protests, he rushed to join her in battle. He carried his large shield, unsheathing his short sword as he whispered to himself.
“Wait for me,” he said as the ground shook from the explosions in the distance.
He saw the purple blasts. Garron had only seen the power of the Void twice before, and both times, it had been over the course of the last month. First in Whiteridge, then in Wolfwater. And now, it was in Wolfwater again.
The Steel Tank understood quite clearly that something was amiss, but he was too concerned for Noele to speculate on what could be the reason for their sudden appearances. Seeing Noele in combat against the Cloying Witch, he knew she could handle herself. But in the off chance that she couldn’t deal with the kretus boar alone—
And a powerful shockwave rippled out from Wolfwater. The nearby trees bent with the wind, half of the leaves flying off from the sheer force of the impact. Garron was knocked back, nearly stumbling off balance as a golden light flashed in the distance.
His eyes widened, and he looked up. A golden cross cut across the sky far from the village. It shone brightly, engulfing even the sun and dispersing the gathered white clouds overhead. Garron gaped for a moment at this explosion.
He recognized this magic. He saw the gold light. And he tried to work his jaw.
“That’s… Noele?”
—--
Noele watched as the golden cross dissipated from the sky. [Dance with Death] remained active, even as the battle came to an end. A charred chunk of flesh dropped from the sky, and her eyes narrowed. [Flash Step] carried her a hundred feet forward. She appeared right before a crater, eyeing the blackened remains of the kretus boar.
She frowned. The Noble Spellsword remembered the last two times she had fought a Void-blessed being. And each time, simply killing them once wasn’t enough to win. They always came back. So she waited warily as she raised her two blades.
The charred flesh of the kretus boar shifted. Her eyes narrowed, and her twin blades were coated with a golden aura once more. She readied a Glorious Noble Slash to finish the job, when the remains of the monster jerked.
Noele backed up as black appendages shot out with a crunch. But it didn’t get anywhere close to her. She blinked, watching as tiny little nubs poked out of the burnt remains of the kretus boar.
“What is going on?” She frowned, watching as the monster tried and failed to regenerate.
Its face began to reform, before distorting and melting away. For a split second, the Noble Spellsword feared that the charred kretus boar was going to twist into a rift just like when she had defeated Odell. But it only let out a weak groan.
She blinked. The dying monster’s began to shrivel up as it stared at her with a pair of flickering violet eyes. The light in its pupils dimmed into a weak crimson glow as it raised a weak limb, before flopping over to the side. Even still, it glared up at her as its body began to fade into ashes.
And she saw the anger in its eyes. The hatred it bore towards her. Noele bowed her head low. It had sought vengeance against her only because she had killed one of its kin. Noele thought of her sister for the briefest of moments.
But it wasn’t the same. The kretus boars were threatening passing travelers because their homes had been destroyed. And that was only because of the actions of the Miststorm Riders.
“I am sorry,” she whispered as the monster continued glaring up at her. “For what Odell has done to you, I can only apologize.”
The kretus boar beat its thin hooves against the ground one last time. And with a weak roar, the rest of its body turned to dust, fading away before her very eyes. Noele could only watch as the ash was scattered with the wind.
[You have defeated a kretus boar!]
The first notification flashed before her, but she didn’t react because she had anticipated it. However, the second one appeared, and she blinked.
[You have defeated a Void-blessed being!]
[You have leveled up! You are now Level 56!]
Noele stared at the hovering blue screens in shock. Firstly, she didn’t expect to level up from killing the kretus boar. Considering that she had leveled up very recently, and she hadn’t done much other than killing a few low-leveled monsters and defeating the Cloying Witch since then, she would have thought that her next level up would be a while from now. But she was already Level 56. And she even gained a brand new Skill.
[Skill Gained: Passive - Keen Battle Intuition!]
But the Noble Spellsword found herself more puzzled by the other blue screen. An individual notification from the World System announced she had defeated a Void-blessed being. When she had defeated a Cloying Witch, Noele hadn’t received such a message. Not only that, she had been under the impression that the kretus boar had been Void-touched.
“What is… Void-blessed?” she asked, her brows furrowed.
She didn’t get an answer. Instead, a panting voice called out to her as she raised her head.
“Noele!” a burly man yelled, dashing her way. “Are you alright? What happened? What… that’s…”
Noele watched as Garron the Steel Tank slowly came to a halt before her. He had his sword drawn and his shield raised, prepared for battle. But the battle was already over. And it seemed he could tell as much. He glanced down at the crater, before looking back at the blonde girl with a chuckle.
“A [Druid] told me that you were in trouble,” Garron said. “But it appears that my help is not needed at all.”
“Oh, that’s Dorien.” Noele blinked. She shook her head and waved a hand off dismissively. “He’s an old family friend— but how’s my parents? Are they safe?”
The Steel Tank nodded reassuringly. “They’re fine. They’re more worried about you… even if they have no reason to.”
Noele just smiled as Garron smirked at her. He sheathed his sword and folded his arms across his chest, looking back down at the ashen remains of the kretus boar. She lightly punched his side, taking a step back.
“Don’t pretend you weren’t just worrying over me a minute ago as well,” the Noble Spellsword said.
He harrumphed with a grin. “I was concerned. But now I realize I am just a fool. This is the third Void-touched creature you’ve killed, is it not?”
She didn’t give an immediate answer. Instead, she paused, remembering what the World System had called the kretus boar. It had been Void-blessed, not Void-touched. She wondered what was the difference between the two. Noele finally shrugged.
“I don’t know. I’m just glad to see that you actually do care about me.” She glanced away from the burly man, smiling, before looking back towards Wolfwater. “But we have quite a mess to clean up.”
Garron pursed his lips. He nodded grimly as he swept his gaze over his surroundings, taking in the full scene for the first time since he got here.
“Were there any casualties?” he asked.
“There were none. But the damage the boar caused is…” the blonde girl trailed off as she eyed the various craters dotting the landscape.
The nearby vegetation and flora had been uprooted, and the localized tremor caused by the kretus boar ripped open a few small crevices throughout the farmland. The damage was rather significant for the size of the village.
“And so soon after the Cloying Witch’s attack?” Noele sighed as she strode back towards Wolfwater. “This can’t keep happening.”
“It can’t,” Garron said, following after her. “We need to figure out a way to stop these attacks.”
She nodded as she eyed the crowd gathered in the distance. “Right… but for now, let’s check up on the restaurant…”
—--
“Amelia seemed pretty excited for her restaurant’s grand opening. I hope this attack does not ruin her plans for today.”
“I hope not. She might quit cooking altogether if that happens.”
“I do not know her as well as you do, but I think you should give your mentor a little more credit than that.”
“I am saying this because I know her—”
Guardian Angel Z357 watched the two humans slowly make their way back towards the ramshackle building at the edge of the village. A crowd of other humans waited there, and there was even an otherworlder amongst them. But his gaze was fixed only on a single figure.
Noele. That was her name, according to the human man. She had been the one to defeat the Void-blessed kretus boar— which was already an extraordinary feat for this era.
But that normally wasn’t enough to pique Guardian Angel Z357’s interest. It was the method in which she employed to win the battle which drew his attention towards her. She had been able to draw from a power beyond the World System. The magic which she used… it had reminded him of one of his own Techniques.
There was a slight difference to it which he couldn’t quite discern. There was no uniformity in her abilities. That puzzled him. And the fact that she had apparently defeated three Void-influenced beings so far drew him to her even more.
He needed to know more.
Guardian Angel Z357 knew that it was against his current objective, but he acted under his own prerogative, believing that there was more he could learn here by interrogating the blonde human instead of speaking to those useless cult members he’d encountered so far.
He deactivated Without a Trace as he descended upon the two humans. His sudden appearance out of thin air instantly attracted the attention of a handful of the nearby humans. They pointed and gasped at the angel as he approached his target.
Noele blinked, noticing the susurration, before turning around. Her eyes went round when she saw the twelve eyes staring back at her. At first, she tensed, reaching for her two blades. But then her gaze drifted to the feathery wings as her breath was caught in her throat.
“Is that… an angel…?” she asked softly.
Be not afraid, he transmitted his thoughts to the crowd of humans.
And the burly man froze. The onlookers dropped to their knees as Noele just looked on in both awe and wonder. Guardian Angel Z357 continued to slowly float down, before extending an unassuming hand.
Come with me, Noble Spellsword, he said telepathically. I am in need of an audience with you.
“An audience with me?” She blinked a few times. Her companion just gaped as those who watched buzzed in shock and excitement.
“An audience with an angel?”
“Is this real life?”
“Angel’s breath… I never thought I’d ever see one until I died…”
Guardian Angel Z357 landed right before the blonde human, taking a step forward as he kept his hand proffered. His twelve eyes blinked simultaneously, and she raised her own hand in a daze.
“I—” Noele started.
But she hesitated. For whatever reason, she shifted back uncomfortably, shrinking away from the angel. He tilted his head, puzzled by her odd behavior. Most of the denizens of Planet 16B would be beyond ecstatic to communicate with him. And yet, here she was, taken by apprehension from his presence alone.
Let us speak, Noble Spellsword, Guardian Angel Z357 pressed her as he called her by her Title. It is a matter of great importance.
She just chewed her lower lip hesitantly. His twelve eyes narrowed. No matter. It didn’t matter if she didn’t want to speak. He would make her talk by force if necessary. He reached for the blonde human as she blinked.
And a hand caught his outstretched palm.
Guardian Angel Z357’s twelve eyes flickered in surprise. His gaze snapped to the side, staring at a brown-haired human. He hadn’t even seen her coming, and she was somehow tightly clutching his arm in place
Who are you? he asked, taken aback by this sudden intruder.
He hadn’t even noticed her presence. And she didn’t seem to care that he was an angel either. She just stepped in front of the blonde human, blocking Guardian Angel Z357 from reaching his target.
“I’m Amelia,” she said simply. “Now tell me— what do you want with my apprentice?”

Circuit breakers be tripping...help :-(
Greetings. This week I have been having quite a bit of circuit breaker issues. Nothing major has changed since last week but 2 breakers have been tripping constantly..
https://preview.redd.it/0zepamooawqa1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa3f093ea28474c3dfbdb21609409d78eab08ce3
Backstory. I live in Arizona and am in a new build from 2020. All the breakers are 'combination afci'. See picture. The first breaker that has tripped quite often is the one in the kitchen. It is a 20AMP breaker that has a coffee maker plugged in, an extension cable that powers a phone charger and two small speakers. It is not heavy load by any chance. the circuit will trip often when I try to make a 10oz coffee. This is a new coffee maker and the old one I also remember tripping. I've had this coffee maker (keurig) over a month and the trips have been happening since last week. The outlets are labeled 'GFCI protected'. Can any one tell me what is going on? Reading online tells me the initial on of a coffee maker takes about a 12amp. Which is below what the circuit is capable of. Do I have a bad breaker? My neighbor also had the same issue and she hired an electrician who told her that these breakers are very sensitive. Something like arc breakers of something. Other neighbors also posted on the neighborhood groups page that they replaced the breakers with regular breakers and are no longer having issues but won't say which breakers they replaced them with. What's a regular breaker? I did some more reading on this and on homedepot site, there are numerous kinds and I am curious to know what you make of it. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Square-D-Homeline-20-Amp-Single-Pole-Combination-Arc-Fault-Circuit-Breaker-HOM120CAFIC-HOM120CAFIC/202353306 - this looks like the breakers that I have. Do you guys think they just replaced them with afci breakers? What would you recommend? Is there some sort of tool that I can use to see if there is actually something wrong with the circuit? Note: the breaker is labeled on the panel as 'kitchen gfi'
The second breaker that is tripping alot is the 15amp that is in the off position in the picture. Same cafci breaker and started happening this week. This breaker has the flex/den room lights (all leds and outlets, entry lights (leds) and outlets and laundry lights (leds). Outlets in the laundry are on different circuits. Now there are two low power light frames connected . One outsides, one inside and we've had them for 2 years no issues. There is one security camera connected at all times. An iron that is used not that often. In the den/flex room, is my entertainment and office equipment. I have an Lg oled tv (max 184 watts), a ps5 (gaming 200 watts), a yamaha 5.1 receiver (max 500 watts but I have never used it more than half way in terms of volume so I will say I use 250 watts), a 200 watt subwoofer again never used it above 50% so for my calculations - 100 watts, I have two work monitors both at less than half brightness (one is rated at max 21 watts and the other 40watts), my work laptop hooked into a dock is rated at 180 watts together, I have another monitor for gaming that is rated at 40 watts max, gaming laptop at 180 watts max, a 2.1 channel speaker system rated at 200 watts max (again I never listen to full volume so I will used 100 watts), my brother work station - 240 watts (laptop and dock, 2 monitors at 32 watts together and occasionally he'll plug in his personal at 180 watts, two cell chargers at 20 watts together. This circuit should be rated to handle 1800 watts, and all the above heavy hitters amounts to = 1787 watts. I have not included the led lights and frames outsides, as I don't think they draw hardly anything. It is also to be noted that never is everything above is in use all at once. Prior to the trips, my wife's laptop and a monitor were also on the same circuit but I have changed all her equipment to a different 20A circuit to reduce loads (about 240 watts including the monitor. For over a year, we had all this on the same circuit and all was good but this week? Everything is plugged in via good surge protectors. The iron is used at times when there is nothing happening. So any thoughts here? Can bad lights also cause trips. The lights flicker from time to time. These are builder grade lights and the warranty guy said replace them. I'm like tf. Do you think the breakers are bad and I should replace them with afci breakers?
Sorry for the long post. I can't even find an electrician for two weeks since they are booked out. I also tightened all the wires in the outlets to no avail. Let me know if I missed any crucial info. Thanks for reading.

2023.03.30 17:30 zero_hale I ruined the best relationship of my life with alcohol and being toxic

I’m in my mid forties. I met him at school going back for a second degree in 2013. He moved in a few months after separating from his wife in 2016. We went through his significant debt, divorce, selling his home after his friends that were renting trashed it, getting him started in travel nursing, having to put down both our senior dogs, getting a new puppy, a cancer diagnosis for me during first wave Covid.
I had a lot of resentment that were were not moving along fast enough ( engagement, moving to bigger apartment) in life as I wanted and that is his focus was on travel nursing which he loved doing. We are both drinkers and I would blow up and say awful things to him that I would not recall the next day. That behavior went on for years. I hated myself for drinking and him for thinking I could do it normally with him. He proposed when I was at my sixth round of chemo. I was pissed that he waited when I should have seen it as a beautiful sign of commitment. I said no because I was upset we didn’t talk about extensively first what marriage would look like. I was resentful that his career always came first although he was extremely generous and supportive.
I kept pushing him away, breaking up with him, and last summer asked him to separate and get a rental near his job. He met someone 15 years younger than me and in the guise of finally reaching his limit left.
I am absolutely devastated. He was a truly wonderful person that I took for granted and treated terribly way too many times. I don’t think I will ever recover from this loss that I orchestrated. I’ve lost my job, my savings is running out and now it looks like my apartment building is being sold and I will be struggling for housing. I’m considering rehoming my beloved dog because I can’t give her the quality of life she deserve.
I barely make it through every day. This level of self-sabotage and self-destruction is impressive to even me. I’m afraid all the time and the future looks pretty bleak.

Halil's top 10 offensive tackles of the 2023 NFL Draft:

https://preview.redd.it/h7yadmh65wqa1.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=71a68dc9f771977f95c872af0a8310a93c2f0d94

We’ve arrived at the big-boy portion of our positional draft rankings! After already breaking down the best running backs, linebackers, wide receivers and cornerbacks of this class, we will spend these next two weeks talking about the guys inside the trenches both inside and out for offense and defense – and we are starting with the offensive tackle position!
I believe there are four small-dunk first-round players among this group, who can all be week-one starters, with varying degrees of technical advancement compared to physical upside. After that, there are five names, who I’d have no problem with all going inside the top-75, including a couple of athletic specimen, who aren’t close to the potential of players they can become one day. At number ten, there’s one more highly talented prospect, who may actually go earlier than a few names I have listed above him, based on the ceiling he presents. After that, you’re looking at more so serviceable players, who will largely be backups, along with a couple of underdeveloped kids you may want to take a flyer on day three, if you have the edges of your O-line secured for now.
Just to clarify – North Dakota State’s Cody Mauch will see his name listed among the interior offensive line.
Here’s how I have this group stacked up:

1. Paris Johnson, Ohio State

6’6”, 315-pounds; RS SO

The top-rated offensive tackle in the 2020 class, Johnson saw the field for just 22 snaps as a true freshman, before taking over as the full-time starter at right guard in ’21 and earning second-team All-Big Ten honors (13 games). Last year he improved to consensus first-team and second-team All-American this past year, when he moved out to left tackle. His steady presence on C.J. Stroud’s blindside enabled the Buckeyes to finish first (45.7) and second (44.2) respectively in points per game in FBS these past two seasons.

+ The grip strength, demeanor and leg-drive are all there in the run game and he really works up through contact to create that momentum
+ Out at tackle, he can really widen that edge and cover up guys responsible for contain, routinely allowing backs to stretch out and get out to the corner or cut underneath, At guard, you saw him come in from the side on nose-tackles to push them over into the opposite A-gap, so that guy can’t two-gap
+ Shows the hip mobility to reach-block three-techniques, as well as come off combos late and get a piece of the linebacker, while having some extra room for error if his angles up to the second level aren’t perfect
+ With the way he covers ground on zone concepts, Johnson can execute fold-blocks and make the job easier for the guard inside of him, to just seal the down-lineman
+ Swiftly establishes the inside foot and gets his base turned, in order to force edge defenders to have to go through him on the backside of gap schemes
+ Gets after second-level defenders with tremendous urgency and you actually see him seal off true MIKEs straight over the center at times
+ His dexterity to twist defenders and get his lower body turned simultaneously to open up lanes is highly impressive, You saw that when LBs try to blitz the play-side gap and he pins them away from it, to present a wide hole (B-gap at guard)
+ Displays good awareness for defenses walking down a linebacker late outside him and how that changes responsibilities on run schemes
+ Clearly has that mobility to play in space, with impressive success getting his hands on corners and safeties in the screen game

+ Johnson features a well-coordinated, patient kick-slide and uses his wingspan well to not present a free B-gap
+ Arms for days at just over 36 inches and edge rushers have to take wider angles consistently, while being able to stab with the inside arm at the near-shoulder to actively elongate those
+ With those long branches and strong upper body to control rushers even if his elbows are outside his frame
+ Smooth lateral mover, to stay in front of inside counters and help out on the interior in a hurry, if his man drops out
+ It also enables him to slide in front of interior linemen in the play-action game and full-line slides before they can even get that first step down regularly
+ When defenders sell out for the bull-rush and create movement, Johnson can increase his step frequency and knee bend to re-anchor effectively
+ No problem at all flipping and riding aggressive upfield rushers towards his own end-zone
+ Shows the ability to recover and still ride loopers off track, as he has to transition on delayed T-E twists
+ Playing at guard, you saw Johnson actively looking for work if he doesn’t have a direct assignment, delivering some significant chips from the side, And that transitioned along with moving out to tackle, where week one against Notre Dame, the next-closest rusher ended up being in the A-gap and he still made sure that guy hit the ground
+ Did allow two sacks last year, but only one other QB hit across 910 pass-blocking snaps since the start of 2021 (26 non-sack pressures)

– His base can get a little narrow as he churns his legs in the run game and it may lead to him landing on the turf more regularly against pros
– Tends to stop his feet when he throws his hands and heavily relies on the two-handed punch – he will need to adapt more independent hand usage
– His hands overall are pretty high and wide, particularly picking up loopers and blitzers
– There’s room to still get stronger, when it comes to swallowing initial power and snatch guys late, not allowing them to escape as plays are being extended
– Can overstride at times selling play-action and allow his D-end to slip inside of him

Based on his height and general skill-set, Johnson was a miscast at right guard as a redshirt freshman in 2021, but did show he can excel in the run game right away. Once he moved to his designated position at left tackle this past season, the pass-blocking skills were able to shine as well. He’s one of the smoothest athletes you will find for the position, yet has the strength in his hands to take control in both facets of the game. Where I do believe he needs to improve is not using two-handed punches regularly and his base to anchor against power leaves things to be desired at this point. Considering what an easy mover he is and the length he possesses to counter-act that, those should be fixable areas though. I do believe he’s best suited for a zone-based rushing attack, where his mobility and leg-drive can really shine, rather than just blowing defenders off the ball vertically, but there’s upside to utilize him even more as a puller across the formation or out towards the perimeter. I don’t see Johnson making it out of the top-15.

2. Broderick Jones, Georgia

6’5″, 315 pounds; JR

Right outside the top-10 overall recruits in 2020, Jones only started four games over his first two seasons (all at left tackle in 2021). He ook over on the blindside this past season and was absolutely dominant, paving the way for a Georgia offense that averaged 500 yards and 41.1 points per game (fifth nationally), which made it all the way to an undefeated championship season (their second straight title). Jones himself was named first-team All-SEC.

+ Jones has good girth in all the right areas, without any excess weight in the mid-section
+ Imposing road-grader in the run game, Gets after people whether the score is 0-0 or his team is up by 50
+ This guy regularly tosses the edge defender on the front-side of zone runs out of the way and forces linebackers to fill the B-gap in a hurry
+ Can absolutely blow D-tackles off their landmarks when coming in on an angle on double-teams, particularly in short-yardage and goal-line situations
+ If he gets underneath the arm-pit of linemen, he can wash them down and create significant cutback opportunities, And he has the grip strength to twist defenders out of running lanes, even if he can’t block down on an angle
+ Understands when he has to add a gather-step against wider alignments, to not presents easy opportunities for edge defenders to jump inside of his blocks
+ On combo-blocks his eyes are usually up and he doesn’t struggle to work up to the backer with space, with the force in his hands to shove them to the ground
+ Regularly was utilized as a puller on GT power, where he’s light on his feet as he skips out of his stance but heavy at contact, and has the reactionary agility to adjust on the fly
+ This dude is scary to be in front of on screens and pulling out to the corner, where most defenders try to go low on him, to avoid getting thrown around

+ Even if his technique isn’t perfect yet, Jones presents the athletic lower half and strong upper body to ride edge rushers off track
+ If defenders go into the chest of him, they quickly realize there’s not much they can do anymore
+ You rarely see guys turn the corner when engaged with Jones, where they try to dip-and-rip, but he still guides them enough off track to not affect the QB
+ He packs a lot of strength in those hands, to widen their arc significantly or push them into the pile, if they try to quickly crash inside
+ Linebackers trying to get around Jones on delayed blitzes seem to have no clue how to actually approach this and are content with just standing there with his arms extended
+ When Jones’ guy slants away from him and he’s unoccupied, he delivers some devastating rib-shots on somebody tangled up with one of his teammates
+ Watching the 2022 season-opener 49-3 destruction of Oregon, the pass-pro reps for Jones was so clean throughout the day and he completely shut guys out trying to work against him
+ Wasn’t responsible for a single sack and just nine other pressures across 470 pass-blocking snaps this past season
+ Ran the best 40 time among all O-linemen in Indy this year at 4.97 and his movement during the on-field drills was well-coordinated

– His feet can get a little heavy late and defenders are able to work off his blocks, where you’d want more flexion in the lower rather than upper half, and that’s in part due to imperfect hand-placement
– Too often in 2022, you’d see Jones drop his eyes when initiating contact in both facets of the game, and defenders being able to pull him off
– Makes himself vulnerable to inside counters on a regularly basis, when he should keep his shoulders and hips squared, but instead opens up to the edge rusher, who doesn’t even have the angle to beat him around the corner
– When he did face a legit speed-rusher in LSU’s B.J. Ojulari, you saw him punch with the outside hand and had that left foot in the air as well, creating a soft shoulder to get past
– Has to do a better job of coming to balance at times when working up the field in the screen game, as guys have the ability to side-step him

This is still clearly an ascending tackle prospect, who won’t turn 22 years old until after the draft and only logged 19 career starts at the Bulldogs. However, his natural talent stood out right away and he was already one of the premiere players at his position in his first season as a full-time starters, despite facing a loaded slate of SEC edge defenders. Now, some of those guys were actually the ones who gave him trouble, because they could threaten the edges of his frame off the snap and were more technically advanced, but there’s no reason to believe he won’t be able to get to that level sooner rather than later, with the natural power he possesses and the awareness he showed as a young player already. I want to see him eliminate this nasty little habit of not keeping his chin up, but in terms of brute force in the run game and ability to snatch up pass-rushers, he has a chance to turn into the most complete guy of the bunch.

3. Peter Skoronski, Northwestern

6’4”, 300 pounds; JR

Slightly outside the top-100 overall recruits in 2020, Skoronski stepped in at left tackle as a true freshman and was named to the All-Freshman team, when Rashawn Slater decided to sit out the season due to COVID concerns. Then he improved to a first-team All-Big Ten performer in 2021, which he repeated this past season, along with being a unanimous first-team All-American. His grandfather Bob Skoronski was a starter and team captain for all five of Vince Lombardi’s championship teams.

+ The best compliment I can give Skoronski is that his tape can be almost boring at times, because every rep is clean and there’s not much to note
+ His aiming points and angles are excellent for such a young player
+ Operates from a wide base and with good leg-drive, while lifting up through contact with his elbows in tight
+ Does well to establish positioning with the inside foot sealing edge defenders on the backside of run concepts
+ Gets underneath the arm pit of D-tackles on angular blocks and rides them down the line
+ Brings plus grip strength and ability to twist bodies to expand running lanes, along with the dexterity to keep his hands latched as defenders try to slip or turn away from contact
+ Consistently works with square shoulders and stays tight to his teammate on vertical combos, to maximize force and not allow defenders to split those
+ Patient and under control working up to the second level, being able to get under the chest with great consistency
+ Also getting out to the corner on fly sweeps or those completely horizontal handoffs, he rarely overruns targets, just blindly hustling out there
+ Somehow people are inferring that Skoronski isn’t a great athlete, when he tested in the 70th percentile or better among all combine events other than the three-cone and his jumps were 96th and 97th percentile respectively

+ Already a very sound and comfortable pass-protector, who consistently is first off the ball, gets to his landmarks and doesn’t throw his technique out of the window
+ Shows an understanding for the depth of the pocket and how to manipulate rush angles, along with the easy lateral movement to mirror guys across multiple moves
+ Adjusts the length of his initial dependent on where combat will occur and is able beat wide-nine alignments to the spot
+ His hands are so consistent with landing inside the frame of rushers and controlling reps, because they typically stay attached throughout
+ Varies his approach and excels at using his arms in independent fashion, whether he’s trying to widen guys with the inside hand or wants to take charge off them on power rushes
+ Rarely does his weight shift too far to the outside foot and he’s ready to negate angles as guys are trying to slice through the inside shoulder
+ Extends his inside arm when deciphering through the pressure and is ready to redirect towards guys slanting to the B-gap if there’s no threat off the edge
+ His feel for shuffling along and how to pick up loopers with the two-handed strike, to guide their path is impressive for a young player
+ Allowed just two sacks on nearly 700 snaps as a true freshman and did the same in ’21 on over 800, along with 18 additional pressures, However he quietly just had his best season in that regard (one sack, two QB hits and three hurries)

– The big hold-up with Skoronski of course is only having 32 and ¼-inch arms, while I also believe he played below 310-pound mark
– You see edge rushers really create problems for him with long-arm maneuvers, where he can’t place his hands or has the kind of super-strong base to just swallow those
– It can also show up in the run ground where guys can just out-reach him and therefore pull him off when leaning into contact
– Doesn’t create a whole lot of knock-back at first contact with his strike generally and you rarely see him take linebackers for a ride, the way you’d like to
– While I love with how much control he plays, at times I’d appreciate a little more urgency to just negate space in the first instance rather than trying to establish position

At the risk of sounding like a cop-out, it’s pretty easy to find a comparison in terms of player profile for Skoronski, if we just go to the guy he replaced at Northwestern, in Rashawn Slater. I do believe the now-Pro Bowler was a greater athlete, particularly with some of the insane stuff he did in the weightroom, to balance out length concern. However, Skoronski is clearly the most technically advanced tackle in the 2023 class. The way he fits his hands and is able to transfer force from the ground up in the run game, along with reading rushers and using different combat-maneuvers to counter them, are tremendous. There’s not much to criticize on tape, but you just wonder how high his ceiling may be, due to always having a disadvantage in that one area. Ultimately, I believe a team will start him out at tackle and he will play it at a pretty high level, but he transitions inside a couple of years into his pro career. Having him down at number three almost feels wrong, but it only speaks to the strength of the top of this class, as Skoronski will be a top-15 overall prospect for me.

4. Darnell Wright, Tennessee

6’6”, 335 pounds; SR

The number two offensive tackle recruit in 2019 behind only Alabama standout and now-Giant Evan Neal, Wright started seven of eleven games as a true freshman (five at right tackle, two at right guard) and then nine of ten available for in year two (all at RT). In 2021 he started all 13 games at left tackle and helped the Tennessee offense score a team-record 511 points, before moving back to the right side this past season, when the Vols immediately broke that record (599) and Dwight was recognized individually as a first-team All-SEC performer.

+ When you look at this guy, everything you see screams “power” at you
+ Shows a natural ability to sink his hips and work up through contact, to create movement on angular blocks
+ You’re just not going to rock this guy’s pads backwards or squeeze him down on backside seal-blocks
+ Has the explosiveness out of his stance to work cross-/fold-blocks and skip pulls in the run game
+ For a man his size, the agility in short areas and flexibility in his lower half to reach-block edge defenders on fly sweeps is pretty impressive
+ Just engulfs smaller bodies stepping down or replacing edge defenders, when he comes across the line on kick-outs
+ Really strong with that inside arm, to extend and create that little bit of extra movement, while riding bodies on the interior into the trash when given the opportunity
+ Can create some significant momentum on B-gap defenders as the angular element to combo blocks by accelerating his feet through the target
+ Showcases the dexterity to keep his hands in place with the hips of the man he’s responsible for, as they’re trying to slice past, and he rides them off their landmarks
+ Doesn’t look uncomfortable getting out in space and has the natural power to put defenders on the ground by just getting a hand on them

+ His feet are quick enough to match legit speed off the edge and then sit down to not allow himself to be ridden into the quarterback’s space at the top of the arc
+ Shows good awareness for that platform of the guy padding the ball back there and when to flip with the rusher, to ride him past that point
+ His base is so strong, that even when rushers seem to set up speed-to-power well, Wright can stymie their charge and force them to look for different strategies
+ Can work in some independent hand usage to keep rushers in line with his frame, along with really snatching cloth and dropping his hips, in order to take control of reps
+ Displays impressive body-control, to quickly puts his outside foot back down and mirror inside moves, even by twitchy guys at nearly 100 pounds less
+ Once rushers get off balance, he can quickly put them on the ground and exploits of the opportunity to jump on top of them
+ Extremely battle-tested against a collection of impressive SEC edge rushers and more than held his own – Allowed just one hurry all day against Alabama in 2022, largely going up against a lock for the top-five in Will Anderson, who simply couldn’t work his typical speed-to-power against him
+ Didn’t give up a single sack and just eight total pressures across 507 pass-blocking snaps this past season

– Carries a little excess weight in the mid-section I’d say and he’s not quite up to par with the top-three guys in terms of foot quickness
– Doesn’t consistently play up to his size and brings the aggression to create displacement in the run game, while other times he gets his weight shifted too far out in front as he really goes for it (partially due to the type of offense the Volunteers ran)
– Gets too far over his skis at times and ends up stumbling forward when he can’t connect with his hands as D-linemen reduce their surface area
– While you like the mobility to get to the second level, he doesn’t break down and secure blocks consistently enough to take care of his assignments
– Regularly late off the snap and has a certain up-kick to his pass-sets, which didn’t become as much of a problems with less than a quarter of his work being labelled as “true pass-sets” by PFF (tons of RPOs, screens, etc.)

I’ve been a fan of Wright for a while now and he’s been ascending his draft stock throughout this process. He came in at a massive 342 pounds for Senior Bowl week, yet he showcased impressive movement skills, effortlessly mirroring a couple of spin moves, along with taking the fight to more power-based string, showcasing his strong upper half. Then he moved around extremely well during the on-field drills at the combine and you heard those bags pop when he landed his punches in pass-pro. This guy has 2746 career snaps with full years starting at both left and right tackle, put together an incredible track record against a murderous row of SEC edge defenders. So I have no doubt that he should and will go in the first round. I’d like to see him enforce his power on a more consistent basis and there’s a little bit of a tweak that he has to work on his kick-slide, but I don’t think there’s much of a gap between him and what is generally accepted as the “big three” at offensive tackle.

5. Dawand Jones, Ohio State

6’6”, 350 pounds; SR

Just outside the top-1000 overall recruits in 2019, Jones appeared in nine games as a true freshman and then in six of eight contests in the COVID-shortened following campaign, including his first start, In 2021, he started all 13 games and was a second-team All-Big Ten selection for the Buckeyes, which he repeated this past season, Then last year he was a second-team All-American, as a mainstay on that right edge

+ Massive upper half and can knock defenders off balance when he just lands those hands in the run game, And with the long arms he can deliver that last push to get the man further off track to create room late
+ I thought overall Jones’ urgency off the snap and willingness to impose himself physically was a lot better in 2022
+ You see him dish out some literal two-handed shoves to blow the front-side wide open
+ When he grabs the shoulder-plate and extends though, you see put guys flat on their backs at times, especially linebackers mugged up in the gap
+ If D-ends try to crash across him face on the backside of zone runs, he will wash them way down the line and optically show the ball-carrier to cut back behind him
+ Because of how massive he is, when he tries to reach-block guys on the edge, they often try to peak around and get off balance, to where he can ride them along and allow the back to stay behind his block
+ Yet, if he’s tasked with simply sealing the back-side, extending that outside arm in the chest of edge guys and bringing the opposite hip-around is very effective
+ When he arrives at the party, with no direct assignment, he can help move the significantly and allow the ball-carrier to hide behind that wall or push through it
+ Some of his tape is just hilarious to watch, when he puts guys on the ground seemingly without breaking a sweat

+ Offers a quick jump out of his stance to cut off the angle for edge rushers, has his hands ready at his mid-section and is patient with his punch
+ The way he snatches and traps guys when they do get closer to his body makes him basically negate guys completely
+ His insane 7’6” wingspan allows him to constantly put a hand on defenders before those guys could even get to his frame, and it gives him a ton of room for error in his technique
+ If guys try to loop wide around him and don’t actively try to find an angle, he’s fine sitting back and waiting there, but if he does go for it, those long arms can really stymie rushers in their approach
+ Even if the outside hand is swatted away, he can push guys further off track by still reaching them with the other arm
+ When he does overset and rushers create that lane to the quarterback seemingly going underneath, Jones is typically able to ride those guys across the QB’s face, to leave him unaffected
+ Buries guys underneath himself with regularity, if they shift their momentum too far out in front
+ After surrendering three sacks and eight other pressures in 2021, Jones didn’t even allow his quarterback to be hit once due to him last year and only hurried five times
+ PFF awarded him with their highest pass-blocking efficiency of any draft-eligible tackle at 99.4 last season

– You see Jones just throw his hands and not move his lower body at times, when he can’t get his body positioned accordingly throughout run plays
– Appears disoriented when his initial assignment is changed post-snap and he has to come up solutions on the fly in that regard
– The way he puts his hands on the face-mask of defenders and some of the pull-downs will be flagged more regularly at the pro level
– Short-setting guys and forcing them to go way around him, because of his size and length, was an effective strategy at the college level, but that won’t fly in the NFL
– At this point, Jones does get by with his massive frame and length along with natural strength, which won’t be as prevalent going against pro players, who will force him to get on their level technically

Jones only took part in the first practice at the Senior Bowl, but he just stood out from the moment he stepped on the field with his giganteous size and unheard of wingspan. Edge defenders quickly realized that they weren’t going to get through his chest, but the one rep that really stood out to me came during individual run-blocking, where he was supposed to reach-block his man but didn’t gain enough ground laterally with that first step, yet he was able to create so much torque on the far-shoulder of his man, that he ended up turning and pinning that guy inside anyway. That’s what you’re dealing with here – an absolute mountain of a man, whose strength and length give him a lot of room for error and when he puts it altogether, he can dominate people. Now, while he has definitely shown technical development, he does heavily rely on his natural gifts and will have to overhaul his pass-sets in order to actually cut off angles for more talented and crafty NFL rushers than he’s faced so far. However, he has things you can’t teach and the potential(!) to become a more athletic version of Orlando Brown down the road.

6. Anton Harrison, Oklahoma

6’4″, 310 pounds; JR

A four-star recruit in 2020, Harrison already logged over 1000 snaps at left tackle through his first two seasons with the Sooners. As a junior, he started all but on one of 12 regular season game on the blindside yet again (one at right tackle and opted out of the Cheez-It Bowl) and received more recognition on a national scale, when he was named a first-team All-Big 12 performer.

+ Presents an athletic frame with minimal excess weight and long arms (34 and ¼)
+ Can create some knock-back as he lands his hands inside the frame of defenders, shoving linebackers off track regularly
+ Last season I thought he was more assertive near the point of attack, to drive-block edge defenders or block down on three-techniques and get guys off their landmarks
+ You see him lift stand up D-tackles in order for fellow linemen wrap around behind him regularly
+ On the backside of wide zone runs, if linebackers try to shoot the B-gaps Harrison hits and rides them way down the line, to open up massive cutback lanes behind him
+ When guys try to dip underneath him or get around blocks, Harrison typically rides them towards his own end-zone to blow the front-side open
+ Has the quick burst to help secure the down-linemen on combo blocks and then deliver some force to open up a lane inside of them as somebody from the second level behind it steps down
+ Bends off the inside foot and uncoils force through defenders in the hole wrapping around on powecounter schemes
+ Frequently is able to face-plant defenders as he catches them off balance, with one foot off the ground, with the triceps strength to extend and push them down
+ Makes the job of his teammates a lot easier, when he’s passing off down-linemen on front-side combos by extending with the inside arm and allowing the guy next to him to bring his base and secure the block
+ Rarely overruns his targets in space and forces guys to work around him consistently, being able to put his hands on third-level defenders in the screen game
+ His 4.98 in the 40 was tied for the second-best mark among all offensive linemen at the combine

+ There’s good rhythm and a certain calmness in his kick-slide, with the light feet to guide edge defenders around the loop
+ Times up his strike as rushers try to throw their hands, frequently hitting them as they’re off balance and taking them to the ground every once in a while
+ His initial hand-placement may not be great always and he gets caught with his elbow out wide, but he does work to re-fit them and finds way to gain control
+ And he finds ways to maximize his length to out-reach his man
+ Can really snatch rushers as he grabs cloth of guys trying to work through him, without giving them a lane to escape
+ Plays under good control generally and doesn’t overreact to defensive movement, picking up games and mirroring guys with space to work
+ Smoothly transitions from the slanting linemen to the looper on E-T twists
+ Has some impressive recovery moments on tape, where rushers have him on skates and he’s somehow able to drop his anchor due to his high-level balance
+ Allowed just one sack and eight hurries (no QB hits) across 447 pass-blocking snaps in '22

– Can’t reduce his height very well and you can see them roll his weight over his shoulders at times trying to establish contact with smaller linebackers
– Doesn’t set the tone in the run game like you’d want to see for that size, having to become more effective with his hand-placement and re-work the way he transitions force from the ground up
– You see some of that as well in the pass game, when his chest folds forward instead of working with sink in his hips and then he kind of tries to chase after guys up the arc, where if timed correctly can leave the inside lane to the QB completely free
– Carries his hands fairly low and comes in wide with the punch, to where guys who sell out on attacking his chest can take him for a ride a few times, as he doesn’t seem ready to land his hands – You see that at times when he’s not ready for somebody coming his way on twists
– There’s a few reps, where he tries to ride edge rushers up the field, but he doesn’t maintain contact and that guy is able to slip underneath him

It’s never easy projecting tackles in particular going from offensive systems that relied heavily on a few run concepts, off which they build their RPO game and offer limited reps for pass-protectors to prove themselves. The areas of weakness in Harrison’s game right now are pretty clear – he struggles to bend at the knees and maximizing his power in the run game, while his hands and feet aren’t married regularly enough in pass-pro. On the Brightside, he does bring plenty of shock in his hands and well-coordinated movement to work to the second level, while being light on his feet to deal with speed off the edge and being able to clamp down on guys once he takes control of reps. There is a fairly steep learning curve in front of him, but he has all the physical tools and the mindset to become a plus starter on the blindside, which is why he regularly finds his name late in first-round mock drafts.

7. Matthew Bergeron, Syracuse

6’5”, 320 pounds; RS JR

Just inside the top-1000 overall recruits in 2019, Bergeron played in 12 and started five game as a true freshman. Other than missing two games this past season, he started all of the other 34 games, with all but three of those at left tackle. He earned honorable mention and then second-team All-ACC accolades most recently, whilst being a team captain in 2022.

+ Nice girth throughout his frame and effectively rolls his hips through contact to create movement in the run game
+ Even with sub-optimal hand-placement, he can widen the edge pretty consistently on the front-side of zone concepts
+ Shows a strong grip with the inside hand, which doesn’t allow edge defenders to back-door or slip his blocks typically
+ When having to block down on three-techniques who aggressively try to get through his gap, Bergerson does well to get his hand on the defenders’ hip and use that momentum against that guy
+ Does well to on hinge-blocks and just get the job done when tasked with sealing guys on the backside of concepts
+ In formations with a tight-end next to him, where the C-gap was uncovered, Bergeron effectively was able to able to pick up and ride smaller bodies at the edge of the box out of the picture
+ You really like what he presents blocking on the move, sweeping around the edge and taking linebackers for a ride or blowing DBs trying to set the edge out of the picture
+ Was utilized on some skip-pulls, where he would wrap around on GT power plays and looked pretty light on his feet to get to his landmarks

+ Shows a real plan in his approach as a pass-protector, changing up between quick sets, jumping out of his stance aggressively versus speed-based rushers, etc.
+ Covers a ton of ground in his kick-sets in order to counter true speed-balls off the edge
+ Carries his hands at his hips and is ready to punch and counter the movement of rushers
+ Will land some surprise stabs quickly at the chest of rushers, to throw off the timing of the moves they want to set up
+ Displays the body-control to re-anchor even when it looks like power rushers are under control of reps
+ Transitions well on twists by the D-line, whether it’s the strong base to absorb force by the initial slanter or the lateral agility to slide in front of the secondary looper
+ Quickly redirects from the initial kick to a lateral shuffle in order to help out or take over stunting interior defenders, if his man on the edge peels off
+ Generally can use the momentum of defender to guide them away from the quarterback
+ Takes advantages of chances to pull off-balance rushers to the ground and pins them down there
+ While he was officially charged for five sacks by PFF last season, in terms of total pressures he was at 12 compared to 11 the year prior, with 770 combined pass-blocking snaps

– His hands regularly start off high and wide already and he minimizes the force he can apply in the run game, as well as make him vulnerable to get flagged, because the refs can see everything
– Pro Football Focus only credited his with 33 positively graded run plays last season, which I wouldn’t judge as such (in terms of a net plus), but in terms of having his hands latched onto the aiming points, that number is probably about right
– Tends to pick up his inside foot too much, as he’s trying to gain ground vertically in his pass-sets and becomes vulnerable against guys with a great long-arm – Clemson’s Myles Murphy was in control of that matchup for most of the day, even if Myles didn’t get to finish many plays
– Edge rushers frequently are the ones to get their arms inside and Bergeron ends up with his elbows out wide, which limits his ability to slow down power

Bergeron has nearly put together the exact same resume during his pre-draft process as Tennessee’s Darnell Wright. Throughout Senior Bowl week, I thought his movement skills in pass-protection were highly impressive, not allowing guys to gain an angle on the quarterback, as well as being able to mirror and shut down some challenging counter moves. And while he didn’t test at the combine, he had a tremendous on-field workout. He looked so light-footed, changed directions and reacted to the coaches’ indications without any issues. His hand-placement in both facets of the game drove me wild at times on tape, but that area already looked improved down in Mobile and I also understand that he will receive the type of coaching to see major benefits. How well he carries 320 pounds, being able to cover ground vertically and horizontal in protection, is rare – and he doesn’t even yet take great advantage of his play-strength all the time. I would not be shocked if he ends up being one of the last few picks of the first round and he’s probably a top-50 lock.

2023.03.30 17:28 mokee92 Circuit breakers be tripping...help :-(

Greetings. This week I have been having quite a bit of circuit breaker issues. Nothing major has changed since last week but 2 breakers have been tripping constantly..

2023.03.30 17:28 mokee92 Circuit breakers be tripping...help :-(

Greetings. This week I have been having quite a bit of circuit breaker issues. Nothing major has changed since last week but 2 breakers have been tripping constantly..

2023.03.30 17:20 seege21 Make it make sense

I think most fans know that reffing across the NBA Is abysmal. What I don’t understand is how fans can sit here and say the refs don’t have a huge impact on games when they want to.
I don’t get how we have fans saying that we just played poorly and that’s why we didn’t win last night when there was a 27-12 ft disparity. While it’s true the wolves played poorly during stretches of the game, in a game that’s so close, have 15 less fts is hard for any team to come back from that! The free throw disparity is everything in a game like this. Had we lost by 30 nobody would be talking about the refs.
It’s such a simple concept to understand, the wolves play fast paced ball and like to play with momentum. The wolves like the be physical on defense and often can’t and still get called.
When the refs are dictating the way a game goes, by showing their presence, you have to know it will affect the wolves or any team for that matter.. right?
When the refs are calling ticky tacky fouls on the wolves, it slows down their momentum, and it gives the other team a chance to punch back and it slows things down exponentially. Look at the first half vs the second half as a perfect example. The wolves go up by 10 when the refs were swallowing their whistles and then the suns were allowed to come back and keep a lead with terrible calls. The wolves simply didn’t get that same whistle.
Refs can completely change the complexion of a game. We literally witnessed it last night and many other nights. I don’t understand why there are fans fighting against this idea. It changes how the wolves HAVE to play the game, they don’t get to play how they WANT to. While the other team gets to play how they WANT to when they realize they’re getting a favorable whistle. Nobody on our team had over 1 foul before the 2nd half. By the end of the game we had multiple guys close to fouling out AND you could clearly see they weren’t playing as physical once the whistle changed.
My point is- an unbalanced whistle changes games, it changes the flow of the game, it changes how coaches call the game, it changes how players play their game, making it so that a lot of our guys CANT play their game. I don’t get how there’s people that can sit here and justify a lopsided whistle, especially against one of the lowest ft shooting teams in the league and a team that sends opponents to the line at a higher rate than almost every other team in the nba. How does that make sense?

2023.03.30 17:19 LeyaJCrimson Still single and feeling like something is wrong with me...

Hello, I hope this is the right subreddit for this... I'm female, turning 26 this year in May and I've never had a relationship before, am still a virgin and never even kissed anyone before. Every time I've started to like a guy or have feelings for them, they got together with one of my female friends (Disclaimer: My friends didn't actively take them away from me. Those guys became part of our large friend group and things just happened naturally between them. I never was mad about it and even got invited to some of their weddings!)
All of my female friends are in relationships, married oand pregnant. And I'm here, sitting alone in my apartment and wondering what is wrong with me.
I'm not skinny, I hate wearing make up, I like to dress comfortably and sometimes a bit crazy (like really colourful clothes).
And now, people tell me different things... some friends of mine tell me that I don't have to look like a model and that my personality is what will make others like me. According to them I'm a helpful, kind, sweet, someone who loves it to take care of others and so on. Others tell me that my personality is great but if I don't look the part and don't take care of myself, I will never get a man. Like.. I do take care of myself, I don't look unclean or dirty or smell bad, I just don't like wearing make up... it feels weird, my skin and eyes get irritated when I'm wearing it for too long and I just don't feel like music then...
And then I see girls or friends that are in a way like me and they have partners and I just...
I just don't know anymore... so I'm wondering if something is genuinely wrong with me...
(Sorry for the long text and if some things are phrased weirdly, English is just my second language. ).

2023.03.30 17:18 ZenubisSpyke Apartment Neighbor may not realize he's being evicted

I have a neighbor who lives on the same floor as me, my wife and I have always referred to him as Bro, and so I will do so for the rest of this post. The last time I saw him was roughly a week ago when I walked downstairs to him getting a roadside DUI test in the parking lot. I have not seen him since, and I feel like there is a good chance that he is in county jail right now. Our apartments put all of our documents on a clip right by the front door. Last night as I was walking by I noticed a bunch on papers on his clip. I'm admittedly a tad nosey and I walked close on the way and saw that the papers are an eviction notice. He is also active duty, so there is a chance that he was deployed as well. Should I do something? I really don't know Bro, we've only said hi in the halls in passing.

2023.03.30 17:15 purplegoblet CVS testing for T13 in U.K.

I am in the U.K. so our care options are different to other countries, especially the US, and I’m particularly interested to hear from others who have successfully navigated the NHS in regards to a high risk result. I have been through many posts, but didn’t see my exact question(s) answered so I hope it’s ok to post. Sorry for the length, I am just confused and this is moving quickly.
I am currently 13+2. At my 12 week NT scan, my scan came back normal but my blood tests came back as low PAPP-A, indicating a higher chance of T13 and T18 (1 in 147). From there, I opted for Harmony NIPT, which came back today as high risk for T13 (I didn’t get more clarity on how high - not sure if that’s normal or not).
I asked to be referred for diagnostic testing, and I am booked in for a CVS tomorrow. Since then, reading here and looking at my pamphlet from the NHS, I have read about CPM and that there is a risk of a false positive with CVS due to this, especially when there is a normal scan.
The pamphlet says if the first CVS result (FISH I think?), confirms NIPT and is accompanied by an abnormal scan, it’s pretty conclusive. This seems to align with the information I’ve read here. It then says if there was no abnormality on the scan, you should wait for the second result (array?) as this result “reflects the DNA of the baby rather than the mother and will not be affected by CPM”. This seems to be in contradiction to what I’ve read here. Have I misunderstood something?
When the midwife called to book me in for the CVS I asked about this. She said the initial CVS result was conclusive for T13, T18 and T21 and that they wouldn’t even do an array for those conditions. She then acknowledged CPM when I brought it up and said my scan was normal. She then quoted the 2% figures and said it was rare, and then said that if it was a problem it would be indicated by the initial result and they would refer for an amino, which again, doesn’t seem to align with the other information I’ve read (that CVS will identify CPM).
I’m perfectly willing to advocate for myself, but I don’t know what to ask for. Should I do the CVS and if positive push for amino? Just wait for amino? If it’s a negative CVS can I just relax? At what point are T13 abnormalities present on ultrasound?
The stakes are incredibly high as this is a devastating condition and I would terminate if given a clear diagnosis. I’m just not sure the best way to get that. Luckily I am protected by law in the U.K. to do this but obviously knowing sooner would be better for both me and the baby, so I fear waiting much longer. Thank you for your help.

2023.03.30 17:14 lvjyism LVJY getting gifts at gigs?

This is solely out of interest and maybe a bit of wishful thinking, but does anyone know the likelihood that the band would receive gifts for them handed over to staff? At Lovejoy B’ham I wanted to try and give the band some art prints of them I had made, and seen as I was not at all close to the stage to try and leave it there (I was actually on balconies) my second best shot was to try and give it to a staff member after the gig. It was my mum who went off and gave it to a member of staff, someone at the merch table I believe, who assured they’d get it to the band/someone who could give it to them. But how high are the chances of them actually getting the prints? I don’t know how these things work really, so is there a decent chance they might have ended up abandoned in the venue before even making it to Lovejoy?

2023.03.30 17:12 PennyworthInvesting Copper vs Oil: The Great Disconnect

Copper vs Oil: The Great Disconnect
Copper is an important industrial metal and remains the key transitional metal in our view for the ongoing renewable revolution.
Historically, copper also has an almost unbeaten record for sniffing out economic strength and weakness before many other commodities. Fondly called Dr. Copper for this very reason, the copper industry is an essential part of the global economy and demand is closely tied to overall economic growth.
According to the Copper Alliance (a leading advocate for the copper industry), one tonne of copper is enough to build 40 cars, power 100,000 mobile phones, drive operations in 400 computers and bring electricity to 30 homes.
Historically, there has been a strong correlation between copper and oil, as both are affected by the same economic factors and market conditions. Energy costs make up a significant portion of the costs of copper extraction, smelting and refining, so there is a material basis for copper and oil prices to fluctuate in unison.
Oil is also a critical power source for economic activity, and quickly reflects falling or rising economic output. Oil accounts for about 3% of GDP and is one of the world’s most important commodities. Petroleum is essential to the manufacture of innumerable products from plastics and chemicals to clothing, and constitutes billions of dollars of transactions, even before considering its use as a fuel for transportation.
For a short video summary of this report, look here: https://youtu.be/6zX6yTk6jYU
A decline or expansion of the world economy almost always results in an increase or decline of oil and copper prices. Forecasts of the respective prices and consumption of these two commodities, are generally set and revised with projections of global economic growth. Case in point, economists will often perceive a rise in oil prices as news of inflationary or recessionary tailwinds.
https://preview.redd.it/f0gh2sse4wqa1.png?width=867&format=png&auto=webp&s=2f7a34688b06f6224c6679c8cf477f6910dfc9e7
However, we’ve noticed something strange happening lately. We are seeing a decoupling of copper and oil prices, with copper prices rising dramatically year to date while oil prices are struggling amid global inflationary concerns and a worldwide banking crisis.
Oil vs. Copper Price (Year to Date %)
So why is copper holding up so much better than oil, when forecasters expect slowing economic growth, tightening lending standards and a potential recession within the next 12 months?
We think the answer all comes down to inventories…

Oil: A Story of Geopolitics & Supply
The International Energy Agency (IEA) states that in Q4 2022, supply outpaced demand by over 1 mb/d, despite a cut in OPEC+ production targets and disruptions to US supplies (due to winter storms).
Also, gains in energy efficiencies and soaring sales of electrical vehicles, will curb global 2023 demand growth by close to 900 kb/d in 2023. The market participation of Russia and China remains unpredictable, as sanctions have prompted Russia to seek new customers (at arguably reduced prices) for their oil, and the nature and speed of China’s reopening is still uncertain.
US Central bank policy has overshadowed China’s reopening, with the two week old banking crisis taking crude oil futures down by about $11/bbl, or 13% since March 3rd.
The US oil benchmark, Western Texas Intermediate (WTI) continues to slump as well as US crude stockpiles build. Overall, optimism is fading from the market.

Copper: The Uncrowned King of Commodities
Like Rodin’s the Thinker, copper sits above the rest in contemplation of the current tepid macroeconomic backdrop.
Copper is the best performer this year out of the industrial metals, rising more than 7% year-to-date, while other comparable metals have fallen in an environment of slowing economic growth expectations.
There is evidence that current prices aren’t reflecting expected supply deficits, which we’ll discuss below.

Very Low Inventory Driving Current Price Strength
We think the most likely explanation for Copper’s strength vs oil comes down to copper’s very low global inventory levels. As we’ve covered in previous articles, global inventories for copper and other industrial metals held at exchange monitored warehouses (i.e. LME & SHFE) are at record lows.
The situation looks like its gotten worse amidst all the economic worries not better, with investment Bank Goldman Sachs forecasting that the world could run out of visible copper inventories by Q3 this year, if current demand trends continue.
The re-opening of China, a major consumer of copper is a major contributor to rising copper demand expectations this year. Chinese demand rose strongly in February, the latest month of data. Currently, copper inventories are at the lowest seasonal level since 2008.
According to GS, Chinese copper demand rose 13% in February year-over-year; and they believe that the price could hit $10,500 a tonne as the Asian nation increases their post lunar new year industrial activity.
Copper Global Visible Inventories
One of the major factors affecting the strong copper price is the increasing demand for green technologies, more specifically batteries. McKinsey & Co. has identified that electrification is projected to increase annual copper demand to 36.6 million metric tons by 2031, and only rapid new mine development and the adoption of copper mitigating technologies, could potentially fill the looming copper supply gap.

Shortfalls, Slowdowns & Supply Gaps driving an Uncertain Future
A 2022 S&P Global study found that significant copper shortfalls will begin in 2025, as a result of increased demand from the energy transition and limited new copper supply. Their rocky road scenario assumes that if current conditions continue, there will be a 10 million metric ton shortfall by 2035. Even in their high ambition scenario, which assumes significant strides in technologies for extraction and recycling techniques, a shortfall will continue until 2035.
Forecast Copper Supply & Demand Balance
Unfortunately, the mining industry will not be able to meet this supply gap from new production without a frankly unrealistic increase in drilling capital expenditures.
Many of the world’s largest copper mines are facing dwindling reserves, depleted ore-grades and are slowing production due to capital-intensive major projects being moved underground in a bid to increase access to more ore.
Looking for new deposits (called greenfield exploration), is very costly and imposes inherit risks and difficulties. Not to mention, finding copper and putting it on production takes a long time.
The past decade has seen greenfield exploration slow dramatically, as the excess supply from 2006-2012 was worked down.
S&P Global estimates that new discoveries averaged 50Mt annually from 1990 to 2010. Moving to the present, discoveries have fallen by 80% to only 8Mt / year.
Current estimates expect a cumulative supply gap of 50Mt or over two years of global demand, between 2022 and 2030.
Mining project approval rates have stalled. During the first half of 2022, the volume of committed projects totaled just 260,000 tonnes of production per year.
Mining Project Approvals by Year (kt copper)
Three Ways to Invest in a Copper Shortage
Given the significant inventory shortages we have identified above, copper prices are poised to hold up better than other commodities if we are going into a period of economic weakness.
A resumption of quantitative easing by Central Banks or falling interest rates, could easily push copper prices to new highs under the current supply shortages.
We prefer three different ways to invest in these trends, bucketed by diversification and risk.
On the lower risk end of the spectrum is the Global X Copper Miners ETF (Ticker: COPX). The ETF is well diversified with 51 positions, and the top 10 stocks taking up a little over half of portfolio.
The diversification of COPX helps you avoid taking on company risk, the risk that one company does something stupid. COPX provides exposure to the price of copper with the potential for better returns than physical copper given the operating leverage copper miners have to the underlying commodity.
Top 25 Holdings of the COPX Copper ETF
Year-to-date copper prices are outperforming the copper miners 3.4%, though in early February the copper miners were up 18%, 10% more than physical copper.
YTD Performance of Copper vs COPX ETF
Our second preferred way to invest in copper upside is to own a high-quality large miner like Southern Copper (Ticker: SCCO). Southern Copper has a market value of $55bn and generates almost 80% of revenue from copper.
Southern Copper Footprint
Yes, Southern Copper is more expensive than large mining peers like BHP or Freeport-McMoRan, but it has outperformed them significantly this year due to its heavy copper weighting. Exactly the exposure and outcome an investor would want.
Forecast EV/EBITDA in 2023
YTD Performance
Our final investment pick to take advantage of the positive copper outlook is a small cap miner, with a unique value proposition. Investing in small caps does come with higher operational risks, but this is balanced by far higher return potential as smaller miners are often mispriced, especially at the beginning of a sustained period of stable to rising commodity prices, like we may be in today.
The company we’ve chosen has a truly unique operational footprint as it produces copper but does not need a mine to do so. The company Amerigo Resources (Ticker: ARG, ARREF), which we’ve written about before on Capital10x, provides significant leverage to copper prices without exposing investors to uncertainties that come from operating a complex copper mine.
Amerigo receives waste fluid (tailings) from El Teniente, one of the largest copper mines in the world. The company extracts the remaining Copper and Molybdenum from the waste stream, selling it back to the mine at the current global copper price.
https://preview.redd.it/km165rqb6wqa1.png?width=705&format=png&auto=webp&s=5ed4b9bd1ffdf944ad1e0be228ab6f31de71f960
Another risk mitigator with Amerigo is the company’s very low leverage. Cash exceeds debt which gives the company flexibility should copper prices decline for a period, if the world does go into a shallow recession.
Amerigo is trading on a trailing EV/EBITDA of 5.3x with Copper at $4.11/lb. The last time the stock traded at 5.3x EV/EBITDA copper was at $3.00/lb.
Amerigo EV/EBITDA multiple vs Copper Price
This tells us there is significant upside at current copper prices, especially seeing as EBITDA is expected to be $36 million at $3.60/lb copper which is in line with EBITDA in 2018, when the stock was at a similar multiple.
Bottom Line: Amerigo is pricing in $3.60/lb copper when prices are trading at $4.00/lb or 10% higher.

Commodity Prices Rarely Lie
Whenever we notice two economically sensitive commodities like oil and copper diverging in price, we take notice.
After looking at the fundamentals of each, it became clear there are huge differences that likely explain the divergence.
Oil investment may be low historically, but we can see demand weakening in real time through rising inventory levels in the US and elsewhere.
Copper in contrast has an acute supply shortage. The supply situation is so critical that even as global growth and demand are weakening, prices have been rising, telling us supply just isn’t there.
Copper has the superior short term and long term demand trends and continues to be our preferred commodity investment this decade, regardless of the chances we see of a global recession in the near future.

Do sites like eSalon count as box dye ??
I haven’t put box dye on my hair for years but do occasionally chair jump. I gave birth to my second baby this past September, and this that was the last chance I’d been able to get my hair done. Looking for a quick refresh/pick me up without having to be out of my house for hours and leave my breastfed baby without me, I placed an order on eSalon after reading overwhelmingly positive reviews. I did not have an overwhelmingly positive experience. They changed my color without notice prior to shipping and, while I did get a fairly even color result (not patchy or weird tones), it’s significantly darker than what I had requested or generally want.
Now - It’s been about 7 weeks since I colored it at home using eSalon products. If I schedule an appointment with a stylist to have this fixed (lightened, a couple highlights thrown back in), should I say “yes” when asked about box dye? I don’t know if this counts as box or not.
Additionally - any thoughts on a way I could rectify this myself?? I’ve been using clarifying shampoo like crazy and just feel blah.

2023.03.30 16:56 Motor_Somewhere7565 A Twokinds AU (Prologue)

Prologue
It was hazy when he came to. In a daze, he could feel his feet being dragged across the floor. Looking to his left, he saw someone carrying him by the arm; to his right, someone else had his other arm. The last thing he remembered was being enticed into the woods early that morning while the rest of his clan slept.
*****
Usually, he wouldn’t wander off on his own. At least, he wouldn’t have gone off without three, four, or ten of his brothers and sisters, maybe even dozens of his cousins once and twice removed. Yet, the delicious smell of cooked meat drew him away alone. It was far enough away that for any normal keidran; he wouldn’t be heard if he got into trouble and called for help. However, hearing wouldn’t be a problem for his clan. Unfortunately, their smell was even better than their hearing, and his smell led him astray to what turned out to be a camp with a roast dripping over a smoldering fire. He should have known better than to venture further, but the smell was overpowering. He did wait to see if anyone stirred from the tents set up, but it didn’t appear anyone was home. Whoever they were, they were out somewhere, giving him all the opportunity he needed.
Closing in on the fire, his mouth watered as he eyed the smoked meat. He could already taste it in his mouth. The thought was too distracting to heed any dangers he might have sensed if he had been more careful. Only when he licked the roast, his tongue barely touching its sizzling surface, did he get burned, but it was enough to snap him out of his trance. Too late did he realize his error when he heard a click.
It was a trap.
The ground gave way underneath him. He was pulled up high into the air, ensnared by a net. Trying to fight his way out, he howled for his clan, hoping to alert them to his distress. He noticed two figures coming out of hiding, laughing at his misfortune. They were human, whom he had never encountered before, and only heard about through stories told by his grandfather. Unlike other clans that belonged to their species, they were an isolated group living on an island far away from the mainland of Mekkan, where interactions with other species, including humans, were far more common. Whomever these humans were, they smelled foul.
“That’s a dog keidran all right,” the first human remarked. “Lucky for us, the rumors of a hidden clan on this island were true.”
“It’s strange,” the second human said, taking his hat off to scratch his head. “I didn’t think trapping even one of these fleabags would be so easy.”
“What did you expect? This tribe has never been in contact with anyone else. If that weren’t proof enough of how stupid they would be, this trap would.”
“I’ll say,” the second human remarked before putting his hat back on. “When in doubt, just let these dumb dogs follow their noses.”
They shared another laugh. As he continued to struggle, they lowered the net. He howled in desperation, but before his cries for help could rally the clan to his rescue, he was hit over the head with a blunt object and knocked out.
*****
After waking up, he remained out of it enough that he couldn’t fight his captors. Once they stopped, a door creaked open, and he was tossed into a cage. Finally coming to, he made a break for freedom but had the door slammed in his face. He collapsed onto the floor while holding his nose. The humans laughed as they stared down at him.
The first human asked, “Fancy this young one will fetch for a nice price on the market?”
“Dog keidran aren’t as strong as their wolf cousins,” the second human said while removing his hat, revealing a balding head. “But they’re loyal and likely never to run away from their masters.”
“That’s only if they’re born into slavery. We caught this one wild.”
“Nothing a templar collar can’t take care of,” the second human sneered before they shared a chuckle and walked away.
Once they were gone, he checked his nose and found he was bleeding. After licking the blood away, he got up and clung to the door. After shaking it, he tried to pry the bars apart, but it was no use. He was considered strong amongst his clan but wasn’t strong enough to escape. Confused and frightened, he didn’t know where he was or why they had brought him there.
“Let me out of here,” he yelled. “Why did you bring me here? I want to go home!”
“It’s no use,” a voice told him. “It’s not like they can understand you anyway. Even if they did, they’re not going to release you.”
He looked into the cage next to his and found a fox keidran looking up at him from the corner where he sat. The fox was right too. Keidrans didn’t speak human as far as he knew. Besides, they had languages exclusive to their species. He was surprised the fox could understand him.
“You speak my language?”
“Amongst others,” the fox answered with a shrug. “You’re not from the mainland, are you?”
“How did you know?”
“You act as if you’ve never been around humans before. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be so surprised by your predicament.”
He looked the fox over, having never seen one before either. He also remembered them from the stories; his grandfather recalled how their kind never did much like the foxes and was always in conflict with them. He didn’t feel any revulsion towards the fox, however. Since their clan lived in isolation, they never learned to dislike others.
He asked the fox, “So, what will happen to me?”
“You’re going to be sold to the highest bidder. Considering how humans are, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s either the lowest or the only bid. No offense, but it’s just that most of them want us dead with everything happening right now.”
“I don’t want either,” he responded. “I just want to go home.”
The fox shook his head. “There is no going home now.”
“No. No, I can’t accept that. I refuse!”
He shook on the door desperately now as the horror of his situation finally settled in. He had been taken from his home, separated from his family and clan, and was now being treated as some lowly commodity. He had never heard stories like this or how cruel humans were. He needed to escape somehow. Desperation turned to fury as he slammed his fist against the cage. He kept punching until his hand grew sore.
The fox yelled, “Hey, hey! Stop that! You’ll hurt yourself. Besides, if they deem you a damaged product, they’ll cut their losses and dump you into the sea.”
He was living a nightmare. Clutching his fist, he couldn’t bear it any longer. Backing away from his inescapable prison, he sank to the floor and cried. He wished he hadn’t wandered away from his clan. He should have ignored his nose, or he wouldn’t be here now.
“I miss my family,” he sobbed.
There was a pause before the fox asked him gently, “Hey?”
Looking up, he found the fox clinging to the bars of his cage, looking at him. The fox regarded him sympathetically. He had only just met him, but something about the fox comforted him in his despair.
“If it makes you feel any better, I’ve never had a family.”
“That’s horrible,” he responded.
“It sounds it,” the fox conceded with a shrug. “It isn’t as bad as being separated from your family. See, I never knew my family. I was born into this and have seen my fair share of cages and auctions. This is all I know, but it doesn’t have to be all that bad.”
“How?”
The fox smiled as he reached in and answered, “We can be friends.”
He needed to hear that. Wiping his tears away, he managed to smile back. Reaching up, he took the fox’s hand. “Friends.”
“I’m Mike,” the fox introduced himself. “What’s your name?”
“Evals,” he answered.

2023.03.30 16:53 GivingItMyBest Swing Trader Prop Firm Review

Hi there.

Disclaimer
I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY OF THESE FIRMS.
ONLY BUY AN ACCOUNT IF YOU'RE WILLING TO LOSE THE MONEY YOU USE TO BUY IT SHOULD YOU FAIL.

I'm a swing trader who has got funded with multipul firms now and figured I'd share my opinion (emphasis on OPINION) on each one I've gotten funded with. I am not going to tell you my stratagy to get funded. As a swing trader how I view these prop firms will differ from a scalper or day trader. For exampel spreads are less of an issue for me as I can be holding a trade for days, weeks, months.

I am not listing these in any order of preferance.

5%ers - Instant Funded Account and New High Stakes Account

Customer Support: 10/10
Spreads: 10/10
Offers: 0/10
Training material: 8/10
Challenge Pricing: 8/10
Profit Split: 10/10
Scaling Plan: 10/10
Dashboard: 9/10

I have had no issues with either of my 5%ers accounts. Customer service has always been great. There's a cheaper Bootcamp program if you don't have a lot of exspendable cash. The dashboard has recently bene updated and is much better thna the old one. It's easy to read and shows what you'd need to know. It also shows how close % wise you are to your profit target to pass/scale up which I like. The only issue I have is the accounts overview shows ALL your accounts by default. There's no option to hide any failed ones or such. It also orders this from oldest to newest by default which is also annoying if you don't want to see accounts that are inactive. However if you don't fail any challenges then this is not any issue. The scaling plan is just a "hit x profit target in any amount of time" which is much nicer than "make x amount every month for x months". It gives you more leeway should you have a bad month to still scale up if you're system works. You can scale up to a 90, or even 100% profit split depending on the account. How they make thier money on the 100% profit split I don't know. I guess not many people make it there anyway. If it wasn't a trusted prop firm I wuld be cautious. There is some training material, but I haven't looked too much into it as I already have a working system. I've never seen any discount fofers for challenges with 5%ers which is a shame, however not a deal breaker at all.

If you have a proven stratagy then 5%ers is a good firm to use.

The Funded Trader - Knights Challenge

Customer Support: 10/10
Spreads: 6/10
Offers: 10/10
Training material: 8/10
Challenge Pricing: 8/10
Profit Split: 10/10
Scaling Plan: 8/10
Dashboard: 10/10

TFT is a good prop firm, but not nesacarily one I would go to first. The spreads can be bigger than other firms which I know is an issue for some traders. As mentioend as a swing trader it's not much of an issue for me. Customer support is great. There's training materials, but once again I haven't really looked at it. With TFT I would honestly not buy ana ccount until they have an offer on that you like. They occsionally have offers on that give you a 90% lifetime profit split from day one of being funded. Thier scaling plan is a typical "make x amount profit over x months" so if you have a bad month it can stop you from scaling up. This can be an issue for people with terrible psychology who end up risking more than they should to make up that loss of profit to scale up. As a swign trader this kind of scaling plan can be a real issue for me as I don't nesacarily close trades often. That being said, you need to have 6% profit over 3 months with atleast two of those months being profitable, so it's not the worst scaling plan I've seen. It's still very doable, and if you don't have the psycology to not over risk to try and scale, you shouldn't be trading real money!

Personally I'd wait for one of those 90% lifetime profit split offers and then go for it. There's no point if buying an account with them before then as they are putting out offers every month.

FTMO - Normal Swing Account

Customer Support: N/A - Not had to use at all.
Spreads: 10/10
Offers: 0/10
Training material: 5/10
Challenge Pricing: 8/10
Profit Split: 10/10
Scaling Plan: 9/10
Dashboard: 10/10

FTMO is a well know prop firm. They have one of the harder passing evaluations from what I've seen people say, but it's not something I had any issue with as a swing trader. As a non-swing trader maybe this is something to keep in mind. They do however have a demo account which you can practice on beforehand which is AWESOME. Do that. The training material offered by FTMO seems rather basic and lackluster compared to other firms, but the fact it has a demo account is a big plus. The scaling plan is nice. 10% profit (20% if agressive account) over 4 months means 2.5% profit a month which is very doable as a swing trader. You can scale up to a 90% profit split. It once again however means if you have a bad month, you might have to wait for the next 4 month cycle to scale. The dashboard is nice and shows what you need to know. They also have a section that shows possible entry points but honestly, I'd ignore it. Follow your system and the information is delayed anyway. By the time you see it the entry will be gone wioth data being 30+minuites late in some cases. The 10 min trading days to pass sucks for me as a swing. I already hit the target with low risk over 2 days as a swing. Yes you can just open and close small 0.01 lots but still, it's just an annoyance for me as I don't need to open a trade every day, but compleatly justifiable for the company. I wont hate them for that.

I 100% advise you doing the FTMO demo account, even more than once. Make sure your stratagy passes across multipul months as the market changes. If you can pass the demo multipul times with FTMo you should be able to pass any prop firm. If you aren't a swing trader though, do keep in mind spreads if you try other prop firms based off of your FTMO demo.

My Forex Funds - Conventional Accelerated Account

Customer Support: 6/10
Spreads: 8/10
Offers: 0/10
Training material: 5/10
Challenge Pricing: 9/10
Profit Split: 6/10
Scaling Plan: 7/10
Dashboard: 9/10

So I tried the Acecelerated account with MFF just to test out something different. Realisicly it's TERRIBLE for a swing trader as you can't hold over the weekend. One thing to note is that this account doesn't have a daily drawdown rule, just an overall one (5% for convensional, 10% for emphatic). The profit split can't be increased by scaling which is a shame. The scaling plan however doesn't have a timelimit. You jsut have to hit your profit target and then you can scale up. You can scale up ever 5 days if your system allows you to make that much each week. MFF does not have a consistancy rule in place on this account type, but it does on others. Something to keep in mind should you wish to join this prop firm. There is an option to pay to reset your account which is cheaper than buyign a new account which is a nice option should you need it. Some aaccounts will be closed if inactive for 30days, so should something happen to you IRL keep this in mind. You can let them know if you are going to be away for a long period of time so they wont close it. Their customersupport took me the longest to get into contact with. When I did eventually get through to somebody everything was sorted fine.

I know some people love MFF. Honestly it would not be my go-to as a swing trader. I do NOT reccomend the Accelerated account unless you can 100% pass, afford the top account size and do not need to hold trades over weekends. It is advertised for professional traders so dont' elt the isntant funding lul you in. Once again I only took it myself as an experiment because I can and I'm confident in my risk mangement and system. MFF has some of the stricter rules I've seen in terms of being active. I feel like MFF suits day traders and scalpers more than swing traders, but that can depend on your system. I can go days/weeks without opening/closing trades if the market is in a longer trend. Make sure you udnerstand the consistancy rule etc. before you buy an account.

FTUK - Low Risk Instant Funding Account

Customer Support: 6/10
Spreads: 6/10
Offers: 4/10
Training material: 5/10
Challenge Pricing: 7/10
Profit Split: 7/10
Scaling Plan: 7/10
Dashboard: 7/10

Not a huge fan of FTUK. Not issue passing but you can't hit the maximum account size with all account levels. The low risk accounts have a maximum stoploss of 1.5% which is something to keep in mind. Wasn't an issue for me but might be for you. Trades need to be open for a certain amount of time so scalpers, be aware. You can't open and isntantly close a trade if that's your stratagy. To reach the maximum account size you need to buy an addon with your account that let's you unlock that level (level 8). Not something I'm a fan of at all. You can get an 80% profit split at level 7 of the scaling plan. I used an offer that got me level 8 for free that they had on thier front page for a limited time.

I would not reccomend FTUK unless you can afford the biggest account size AND either are willing to buy the level 8 addon or wait for an offer that gives it to you for free or at a discount. I also would not advise it unless you are proven in your stratagy for this reason. Sure they have the abilt to give you the one of the biggest account sizes I've seen but you can get 1mil less with 5%ers no matter your account size, and without the extra purcase.

OFP - 40% Instant Supercharged Account

Customer Support: 8/10
Spreads: 10/10
Offers: 0/10
Training material: 0/10
Challenge Pricing: 8/10
Profit Split: 7/10
Scaling Plan: 6/10
Dashboard: 7/10

OFP I only tried to see if it's legit. I wouldn't have if it wasn't a UK company (I'm a UK citizen myself), so i know I have a legal leg to stand on. It was another experiment for me. The customer service took time to get in touch but the person I spoke to was perfectly helpful. OFP offer accounts with no evaluations and instant funding. This account is a "slow and steady wins the race" situation. You are not going to "get rich quick" which is ok in my opinion. You can scale up to an account end balance of £5mil however it would take 5 years IF you hit the targets every 4 month cycle on a 100k account start. You need to make 15% profit over each 4 month cycle. For yy account that's 2.5% profit every month which is doable for me. Like similar scaling setups, if you have a bad month then it can screw up your scaling. There's no training material that I've seen. The pricng isn't bad but the profit split is only 40%, so at lower account sizes you wont be making much until you scale up more. There is another accoutn type which caps at 26% profit split. The profit pay out for the accounts are monthly, apart from the supercharged account I did. The supercharged account you can withdraw weekly however, week 1 you can withdraw 10%, week 2 20%, week 3 30% and week 4 40% max. If you withdraw, the profit split resets to 10%. So if you get to week 2 and withdraw 20%, you will go back to week 1 in terms of withdrawing your profits. Ideally you'd wait till week 4 but this account atleast gives you the option to withdraw early if you need to. There's a 3 trades per week rule which as a swing trader is not ideal, but workable. They also have a rule where if you drastically change your lot size between trades then they consider it gambling and will close your account. There's also a 2 minute rule for closing trades.

I actually like OFP as a swing trader however it will be a big turn off for some people given the slow and steady aspect of it. The prices of the challenges aren't bad so it's not a terrible option for somebody who trades along side thier main job and are willing to wait a long time to trade full time. If you just want some extra spending money or rent (after scaling up a bit) then it's also not a terrible option. As there's no evalutation it's an option to build up some cash to buy accounts from other firms with bigger profit splits. Not being able to close trades within 2 minutes of opening will be an issue for scalpers so keep it in mind.

Conclusion

Ok so there's my opinions of the prop firms I traded with as a swing trader. You may have other opinions with different trade styles and systems and that's ok. At the end of the day pick a prop firm you trust, can pass and like. I think my favourite is 5%ers, with FTMO second and TFT third. Main reasons being they suit my trading style, I've had no real issues with them, and when I have the customer support has been grand. I also trust all 3 companies the most. TFT having constant codes for things like 90% split from the get go also gives it a big+, so keep an eye out for them when you are confident you will pass.

OFP is the one I'm most curious about. I plan to stick with it and see where it goes. I only bought the smallest account as it was just a test. My main aim for it right now is to use my next withdrawal to buy Resident Evil 4 Remake! Achiveable goals are the best goals.

I am not planning on trialing any more firms right now as it did cost a nice little chunk of cash and I'm trying to buy a house. I will consider it in the future though if anyone has any suggestions.

Happy trading!
