We are taking our 16 yr old son through his first visit to Canada this upcoming summer. We live in Michigan so we were going to go north over the Mackinac Bridge and cross into Canada at Sault Ste Marie. Then drive to Montreal and do 3 days in Montreal, 3 days in Toronto, 1 day in Niagara Falls, and then home through Port Huron or Windsor.
My question is - it is an 11 hr drive from SSM to Montreal. It is a 9 hr drive from SSM to Ottawa. Would it be worth stopping in Ottawa and doing a day in Ottawa before moving onto Montreal? I know it's only 2 hours, but a 9 hr drive sounds much better than an 11 hr drive unless stopping in Ottawa and cutting our Montreal trip down to 2 days would not be the best use of our short time in the area.
For what it's worth - our family loves to experience cities through its food and history, we don't have much interest in exciting nightlife so much as amazing restaurants and historical buildings/museums.

I want to get a new job, but I'm worried about drug tests. My current job drug tested me when i first started, how common is this among jobs in MI. I'm talkin about like entry level low paying jobs (Walmart, fast food, etc.).

Me [22m] and my gf [21f] have been dating for a little over a year and a half. We will call her D. In the very beginning things were kinda rocky but things quickly blossomed into a great and beautiful relationship. D is in school for teaching and since January she has been at a elementary school all day everyday for her student teaching. Before she started being at the school full time we would see each other during the week and would hang out in the mornings. When I was working fast food and could call out whenever we would see each other multiple times a week. Most recently since me getting a better job and D being at the school full time we see each other on the weekends. Since mid January I've felt that we have gotten distant. And we stopped talking on the phone as much. But when I would call things were one sided with me doing most of the talking I get one and two word responses. Then we would sit in silence for a while before I tell her that I gotta go back to work. Then when we would see each other in person it would be the same thing one-sided conversations. Even when we play video games im trying to start conversations but things don't go any where and we just talk about what's happening in the game and nothing else. Fast forward to 4 weeks ago she has gotten her own apartment and gets a teaching job. I want to take her out to celebrate. We go to a restaurant and its the same story. I try to have conversation and it leads nowhere I inly get one and two word responses. After a while we just eat in silence. After we eat I ask to hangout at her apartment and its no different then at the restaurant. After I get home we talk on the phone about our communication and we both agree that everything is good except our communication is really holding us back. We agree to work on communication. The next week was spring break and she had the entire week off. Not once did she ever invite over to hang out. we didn't even hang out that weekend. I Spoke to my mom about what's happening, and she thought it was really weird how she has her own apartment and didn't invite me over with her week off. My mom things that she is emotionally done with our relationship. My dad agrees and thinks that she is seeing someone else on the side. My friend Angel agrees with my parents that the relationship is probably over. My other friends don't think so and say that I need to talk to D. With all of this happening When we talk on the phone D still early talks. Phone calls feel like im just talking to myself. Last week and yesterday it was the same thing. an hour long phone call that feel like im talking to myself. Ive been trying to fix our Communication problem but she has put zero effort into it. Now I just found out that she is having a house warming party for her apartment that her cousin organized. That's nice except its on my birthday. She had known about the party coming up sent invitations and gift registries and the whole time she didn't realize that her family party is on my birthday. So she obviously forgot about my birthday and now im supposed to give her a gift on MY birthday. She apologized and everything and I suggested we just celebrate my birthday the day after but I feel a little hurt because of how she forgot about my birthday about everything else going on. At this point idk what to do or what D's issue is. I feel like im looking at the end of our relationship and it makes me feel sad and scared. Any advice at all is welcomed and appreciated.
TLDR: one-sided conversations and lack of communication is really stressing me out and putting a strain on my relationship.

Boyfriend (28M) broke up with me (25F) for not seeing his “worldview”.
He is 28M and I'm 25 F. We were together for six years. I always felt like there were issues from the beginning we tried to work through them. In 2019, he broke up with me due to my jealousy issues, which was understandable at the time because I wasn’t quite mature back then. When we got back together in 2020, he said that he missed the relationship and really wanted to work things out for the better. I believed him of course, and took him back. Everything was great. I felt like this time around we were going to be stronger than ever.
Fast forward to Christmas 2022, he revealed to me that the relationship was stagnant. Although he had worked on all the previous flaws in the relationship, there was one itch he couldn't scratch. He said I was not "intellectually stimulating" enough for him. By that I mean, he felt like I couldn't understand his worldviews or things that really interested him. He enjoys the outdoors and travelling, reading, podcasts and gaming etc. I was willing to try these things, but I have my own hobbies too. I told him I could try to understand his interests more, but because I'm my own person, I should be allowed to have my own interests too. I tried my hand at cooking and hated it. I tried gaming and I have to admit it was pretty fun but he got upset when I couldn’t finish the entire game. I tried hiking but when I sat down for a break, he would get annoyed and ask me why I had given up so easily.
After all that, I noticed he started to look elsewhere for that engagement and made every excuse not to talk to or see me. Eventually, in January 2023, he gave me an ultimatum and said, "I need you to be more engaging and more invested in my interests otherwise I'm going to leave". So I did, I tried to show more interest in everything that interested him, I tried to ask more questions, bring up interesting topics to talk about, and book holidays, and getaways to expand our horizons. I felt pressured to enjoy all the things that interested him, but then I began to neglect the person I really was.
Then he became fixated on how I looked. He said that I had let myself go, and I didn't try to impress him anymore. He asked me why I couldn't put on anything nice. It’s not that I looked homeless or refused to brush my teeth or anything. I still cared about hygiene. I just wanted to wear whatever I want without being judged. I thought we were comfortable in this relationship and I didn't feel the need to dress up all the time except for special occasions. We went to a local restaurant which served Mexican food, he told me he was really upset that I rocked up in a t-shirt and jeans. I asked him why is that a big deal. He said “you don't stop impressing the other person just because you are comfortable”. Meanwhile, his hair was a mess and he wasn’t really wearing anything different to what I was wearing.
Then he had issues with where I was at in life. He's graduated from university and is working for a pretty well-known company, earning a very good salary. Meanwhile, I'm still in college trying to get my degree. He felt as though he was progressing and I wasn't. He gave me another ultimatum and said “I need you put on some nice clothes, is that so hard?” And starting looking down on me because I was still completing my degree.
Then in February 2023, he couldn't take it anymore and broke up with me. The main reason was there are other people that just "get him" and I don't. He said after all these years, he feels I don't know him at all. I feel like I do know him, or at least I wanted to get to know him, but whenever I would ask or pry, he would get annoyed with me. He'd say things like "you just don't get it" or "never mind". It's not that I didn't care about his interests, I just felt pressured all the time. I am deeply heartbroken because all I wanted was to try and understand him but he was convinced that I couldn't do it.
I called him three days ago because I felt like I needed to know how it all came to this. He said that he started feeling off in May 2022 and told me how he was feeling on Christmas day because it seemed like an appropriate amount of time for him to think. I asked him, what took him so long and why didn't he say anything earlier. He said that he needed to get his "bearings" around his feelings, which meant he needed to work out, eat healthily, speak to friends and family about it and then talk to me. I feel like this is such a huge cop-out because hello, the problem is the relationship, why are you not talking to me about it? He said that is who he is and I should have known that by now. Finally, he said that there are women out there who understand him and he doesn't have to explain himself. So he is going to pursue them.
I'm someone who is empathic and takes pride in wanting to know more about people. I don't feel like I'm the person to ignore one's feelings or dismiss the things that interest people. So the break-up made me question who I was as a person. He made me think, do I really not understand people? Am I really not intellectually stimulating enough? Am I boring?
I have never encountered anyone with this kind of behaviour before. I don’t even recognise him anymore and I’m having trouble understanding his beliefs and worldview. Is there really something wrong with me or was there anything I could've done? Or does this seem like something to do with him? Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m curious about food systems in Norway. I live in the US and it is a lot of work to try to avoid foods that are very unhealthy. I don’t mean fast food and processed foods, just my base ingredients I have to search out to source acceptable quality. We have so many practices on the food systems here that are terrible for the health of the citizens, but corporate greed and government corruption just fuel the fire. Here are some specifics I’m wondering about if these practices are allowed in Norway.
-The use of antibiotics on ALL meat animals, not just ones that are sick.
-chorine bath cooling rather than air chilling chicken. It gets colder faster but also absorbs the chlorinated water which keeps the meat from spoiling but results in VERY old meat that won’t make you sick. (At least not from food poisoning)
-poor public water quality, we have a LOT of contamination, heavy metals and even medication/hormones that contaminate our drinking water.
-cloud seeding… Where I live they send airplanes up and inject silver iodide into clouds to try to make them produce more rainfall/snowfall.
-when wheat is ready to harvest they use airplanes to distribute glyphosate over the whole crop to kill it in one go so that it harvests evenly. I know it is not likely that glyphosate is used, but is a similar practice with different chemicals used?

Although he was eventually defeated and brought to the gallows for execution, he decided that living by any means possible would be better than an ignominious death at the enemy's hands. He drank the blood of the execution grounds, and was resurrected as a vampire.
In the 19th century, Count Dracula was defeated yet again, this time by the vampire hunter Abraham Van Hellsing. Rather than killing the vampire completely (if such a thing was even possible), Van Hellsing sealed and buried the creature deep in the Hellsing mansion, binding him to be under the control of the Hellsing vampire hunters.
Now, in the modern era, Sir Integra Hellsing is the current head of the Hellsing Orgainzation, the British Crown's vampire-hunting agency. When she became the head of the family as a child, and a jealous splinter faction of the Hellsings sought to have her assassinated, Integra went to the one place she had been told to run to when all hope was lost--the tomb of Dracula. When her blood touched his skin, he was revived once more, now a loyal servant of Hellsing. He goes under the name "Alucard", and works for the government, dispatching other vampires to protect the humans he once terrorized. Although, perhaps, given the opportunity to break free of his restraints, the true monstrous power of the legendary vampire would be far more dangerous than the threats he fights against...

i started dating my boyfriend when i was 17 and pretty deep into my ED. i was never ridiculously skinny but definitely underweight - the kind that looks good to guys though i guess. but to maintain it i basically had to eat next to nothing. i’m now 21, he’s 24, and we’ve been going through a really rough patch because he’s addicted to porn lmao. long fucking story, definitely hasn’t done wonders for my self esteem, but i’ve felt until now like my self worth and confidence was only tied to him in healthy ways.
since recovering, i gained about 35lbs. i was 100 when we met, bmi 18.3, and now my bmi is about 23 at 5’2. it’s definitely a significant change, i have some extra fat on my arms and stomach and face that i had to get used to, but i also filled out and became more “shapely” so it was an ok trade off imo. he was always supportive, i thought.
a couple nights ago we were having a really tough conversation. we’ve been on the edge of breaking up a few times recently due to his dishonesty and the way it’s affected our relationship. in the spirit of trying to be more “honest”, he told me that my weight gain has played a role in his porn addiction, because it took a lot of adjusting and he’s never been with someone “like that”. he even apparently talked to his therapist about it and how it made him feel like a bad person. i immediately started crying because that’s like, legitimately my worst fear. the fact that we’ve had sex hundreds of times since i gained weight and i always thought it was safe to assume he was attracted to me, and he wasn’t…… like just kill me atp lol. i have been literally making an effort in the past year to hide my tummy during sex less because i always thought he liked it, like i literally just look like a normal not-rail-thin adult woman and i thought that was fine. so fucking embarrassing my god. as soon as i started crying he started backtracking and saying it was more about how he could tell i lost confidence, which i didn’t- after recovery i was more confident. so that’s clearly bullshit. he fully knows i had an ed too, and i was already starting a diet to shed maybe 5lbs when he said this. it was honestly so unnecessary and hurtful, but honesty ig.
and now, my ed is back in full swing. i’ve lost 9lbs in 5 days. all the normal food in my pantry has been replaced with low-cal 0 sugar lean options. which sucks because in recovery, i got really into cooking and making beautiful food of all kinds, but there’s no way that wouldn’t feel like bingeing to me now. i’m starting at 1500 cal a day, and once i stop losing weight i’m gonna do 1200, etc. but i’m already restricting as low as i feel possible. literally had some lean granola and 0 sugar yogurt + a 100cal granola bar yesterday. i felt dizzy all day and loved it. i’m weighing everything i eat and aiming way below my calorie goal. i feel like a flip has switched in my brain. it’s like all the things your ED brain tells you about recovery have come true, “people do think you look more beautiful when you’re sick, they’re just being nice to get you healthy, your body will never be healthy and beautiful that’s just not for you, everyone’s lying to you”
i’m already getting re-addicted to all my old behaviours. it’s happening so fast and i’m completely committed to undoing all of my recovery. i can’t believe this is happening to me but i know it’s out of my control at this point. i’m also feeling myself getting more attached to my bf, because even though i was pretty sure we were gonna break up soon, now i want him to see me get skinny again so that his most recent memories of me aren’t ugly fat monster me. fuck my life man, i was doing so well, for so long

TLDR; I feel more “mature” while it feels like she hasn’t grown at all.
Hi all, I (20M) entered a long-distance relationship with my current girlfriend (19F) over a year ago. When things started, it was excellent. I flew out monthly to see her (probably 6mo straight) and we had a great time together. Fast forward a year or so - she still hasn’t come to see me. I didn’t think it would be as much of an issue as it is. But it’s really starting to weigh on me. I took time off work, declined promotions, etc, to go see her.
For reference, I went to a pretty rigorous high school and finished my BA in one year of college. Currently salaried at $100k+/year. She is constantly broke; TO BE CLEAR, I don’t resent her for being broke, it’s the way she spends her money when she has any that gets to me. She lives at home and goes to college for free. I regularly have to send her money for food, etc and am almost never paid back.
It feels like we can’t connect on anything - my issues and problems generally go over her head, and I can’t relate to her issues most of the time. We have completely different goals, and rarely talk anymore. I’m not sure if I even have the energy to fix things anymore, but still deeply care about her as a person and don’t want to hurt her. Advice?

I'm 17 and started doing intermittent fasting (12:00-8:00) probably almost 2 years ago because I was obese (230lb) and wanted to lose weight, over the last year or so this turned into an OMAD diet before I even knew what OMAD was, my current plan is for school I wake up at 6am, skip breakfast and lunch, go to the gym when school gets out and leave at 4:30, get home and eat around 1200-1500 calories (high protein and clean) in a sitting then a double scoop protein shake to get my calories a little bit higher (I know my calories are very low, I'm still maintaining around 145-150lb at 5'7 with these calories while still trying to lose some fat). All was fine with this diet until a few weeks ago I started getting extremely cold to the point where I was visibly shivering for around an hour at a time in the late morning about once a week even if it was like 80 degrees, and I started getting extremely lightheaded sometimes towards the end of my fast after the gym to the point where one day I had to pay my little brother to make me food because I was too lethargic to get off the couch (my workouts are still fine and I'm still making visible progress and lifting more every week). I think it also has negatively affected my metabolism a lot, I ate normal calories and quit OMAD over spring break to see what would happen, and on 2500 calories a day, which should be around my maintenance, and I gained 6lb in 9 days, I want to stop this diet if it is what's causing my problems, but I've been doing it for so long that if I try to eat before noon I'll get nauseous and I can't keep anything down because my body isn't used to it. I think the issues could also be low blood sugar as a result of the fasting, if it is that does anyone have any recommendations or any way to raise my blood sugar to normal during my fast without eating because before I started having these infrequent but annoying issues I felt much better physically and mentally than on any diet I've ever tried.

I love Mexican food (or whatever Mexican food is in the US). And there are plenty of restaurants in my city. But I’m so tired of every time I go to one it’s a complete crapshoot of whether or not every single thing will have onions in it and make it a terrible dining experience. Last year I went out with a work group to this one place and the menu had zero details about what was in each dish… I asked the server a million questions to make sure I was safe (she was very nice and patient). Then the food comes and mine have gigantic thick pieces of slimy onion in it and I had no choice but to choke it down because it was a work function. What the hell??? After that I wished I had just ordered the Caesar salad! So I’m at the point where I fear Mexican rather than being excited about it.
