TLDR: I would like to port the MCDM's minion's mechanics to SW. Minions are like extras but the attack and damage rolls are grouped in single roll and scales with the number of minions.
Hi all, some systems have the concept of "minions" in SW an extra is more or less that but it still takes a whole turn in combat where minions are grouped, and up to 5 minions attack with a single roll.
My favorite mechanic for minions is the one in MCDM Flee Mortals for 5e, which is very simple and scales very well. An excerpt from the book:
GROUP ATTACKS: Each minion has a group attack action that speeds up play. In a group attack, two to five minions of the same stat block that share a turn can all use their action to take the same action and attack one target, provided the target is within the attack’s reach or range for each minion. • Make a single attack roll for the group attack. It counts as one attack. • A group attack roll gains a +1 bonus to the attack roll for every minion in the attack. (For example, if four goblin minions make a group attack together, the attack roll gains a +4 bonus.) • If the group attack hits, multiply the damage by the number of minions that made the group attack. (For example, if four goblin minions hit with a group attack that deals 1 damage, their group attack deals 4 damage.)
OVERKILL ATTACKS Powerful weapon attacks can kill more than one minion in a single maneuver called an overkill attack. As already discussed, a weapon attack requires only 1 point of damage to reduce a minion to 0 hit points, regardless of their hit point maximum. However, when a weapon attack’s damage does exceed the target minion’s hit point maximum, the attack becomes an overkill attack and the damage dealt beyond the minion’s hit point maximum becomes overkill damage.
Overkill damage can be applied to a second minion that has the same stat block as the target and is in overkill range (see below). I'm looking at how to "port" these mechanics to SW, extras have group rolls but I don't think that that scales well for combat. I would like to make a single attack that represents a group of extras and that attack should have a bonus for each extra in it, I think that the bonus to damage is easier to simulate probably a +something for each extra is ok, but I'm also opened to ideas.

I just recently started my phD in my thesis lab and will be continuing the work of a former graduate student. The student worked on a project no one else has ever done, but I wasn't too worried since I am taking this as a challenge. However, it has been a month now and I feel completely discouraged. Firstly, no one has been really helping me in terms of getting set up in the lab. I have been figuring it out myself. Also, when I ask people for help, they don't seem interested in helping, which is what is bothering me. I am also not the type of person to keep asking questions to people since I feel like I will be a burden. I am trying to learn a protocol that apparently has been standardized before, BUT no one is showing me how to do it and I honestly just feel lost. Even when I ask questions, no one seems to answer and kind of scuff me off. I know a lot of the students will be graduating and are focused on their own stuff and I can sympathize, BUT I am asking basic questions that shouldn't seem like a burden. On top of that, the lab doesn't have any organization whatsoever. For example, they don't have inventory lists of anything, samples, or just about anything else. I have yet to get any sort of previous data, protocols, sample inventory, or anything from the last person. Apparently, this was handed to another person and so forth, but no one seems to know. I haven't had a chance to do any reading or anything since I'm trying to find samples as they seem to be previous human and larger mammal samples that are hard to come by. In addition, we get human and large mammal samples from another lab, which I am suppose to be processing starting next week. I have been trying to follow the protocol I was given, but it is so poorly written and I can't decipher anything. I tried asking for help, but no one else does it and they don't seem willing to help. I am just so tired and over it at this point.
Now adding fuel to the fire, my PI wants me to hit the ground running with experiments. I plan on talking with my PI because I just started and I am still taking classes on top of starting this project in addition to all the other foolishness. However, a part of me doesn't want to complain and sound like I can't handle it. My PI is approachable, but I just started and I don't want to make a bad impression.
In all honesty, I just feel so down and lost. I am trying my best to catch up, but with not much assistance, this is tiresome. I know you are suppose to be independent and learn on your own, BUT it is getting more and more discouraging. No one seems to talk to me or want to help or anything. I get it. I am the new person so I am the outsider of the group. Though, when I was in my masters, I never dealt with something like this. Everyone was super helpful AND approachable so I thoroughly felt comfortable. This lab is completely different from what I have done previously so I again took this as a challenge. In addition, I rotated in this lab last year and I don't remember it being like this at all. However, I didn't really talk with anyone else aside from the former student who guided me. I didn't think to much about it since I am not a talker anyway.
With that, I wanted to ask others if this is normal. I have talked to my friends and their responses vary. Typically, when a phd student finally joins a lab, what do they do in terms of getting ready? I know you are suppose to read papers, but in terms of experiments and getting to learn techniques used in the lab? How did you learn? Was it on your own or did you watch others to learn? Any advice or recommendations would help!

And thank you for taking the time to read this.
I have started getting routine shut downs where the power light remains on after and will not power back up unless I power off the back of the PSU and remove the cable.
I had thought it was related to the GPU and Valheim but it occured today as I was streaming a TV show online.
The issue started last week and has happened every time I have used the computer after extensive use (average 4 hrs).
I am getting reasonable temps and CPU usage is at a minumim, Ram seems to be ok although I am only monitoring everything from within HWiNFO.
I have used both Windows 10 and now Windows 11 following a compelte restart, along with all driver updates (Bios, GPU, etc.)
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

So I'm probably in the minority here, mainly because I'm a 3-star only user, but the past year of balance notes have just been so lack luster for 3-star units.
This is a summary of all the 3* changes in the past year, since April 2022.
It's somewhat disappointing when the some people have been asking for adjustments or balances to specialty changes like Muse Rima, where she is outclassed by Taranor Guard (because of how limiting her Tree is), or Chaos Inquisitor, who is meant to scale with Attack and stay low max health because of his passive but is given Health% on his Skill Tree and no Attack.
Honestly - it's probably also partly my fault for playing with this handicap on myself, but it's fun - just disappointing some days (not to forget that we were dry a year and 1 week for a 3-star batch).
Sorry for the small rant.

It's somewhat disappointing when the some people have been asking for adjustments or balances to specialty changes like Muse Rima, where she is outclassed by Taranor Guard (because of how limiting her Tree is), or Chaos Inquisitor, who is meant to scale with Attack and stay low max health because of his passive but is given Health% on his Skill Tree and no Attack.
Honestly - it's probably also partly my fault for playing with this handicap on myself, but it's fun - just disappointing some days (not to forget that we were dry a year and 1 week for a 3-star batch).

She requires constant attention whenever she wants it. She wants to see me everyday and gets offended if I want to stay home for the night or just hit the sack early.
Just now while I was working on something important and she called me and asked me what I was doing, "working" I said and then I continued to listen and make casual conversation so that she felt heard but continued my work, she got annoyed and told me that I didn't "sound excited" to talk to her, and that she expects me to stop what I was doing to listen to her. "I'm doing something important" I say, and she gets offended that I would even say something like that.
She makes constant remarks that she doesn't like the responses I give her. I tell her I love her but she tells me I don't say it with enough passion and tells me that I need to "work on it" almost like she's forcing me to say I love her, which I don't know just seems wrong to be forced to say something that should come out naturally.
She has multiple friends that are men that she talks about occasionally, but anytime I invite a classmate or coworker thats a woman to any sort of casual get together (which we have often) she causes a big scene locks herself in her room or a bathroom and practically forces me to take care of her for the rest of the night, keeping me from the party. She has on multiple occasions accused me of having interest in another woman at with absolutely no grounds creating an absolutely unnecessary argument where I am the bad guy.
She constantly (almost on a daily basis) has some sort of personal issue or a "bad day" and says it would make her feel better if I made some time for her to the point where it feels like a chore to hang out with her. She very often calls me crying in the middle of the day looking for consolation, if she thinks I didn't do a good job of that she gets mad. If she didn't have something go wrong she will find something about our relationship to make a problem and after a few hours of "talking" and then her having a panic attack she will finally feel better about it and then the cycle continues the next day.
Whenever she is too busy or has responsibilities to take care of and can't hang out I almost feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. After I finish work it feels like I have more work to do just to please her at the end of the day.
Heres my issue. My friend group is so tied together that if we broke up it would ruin our whole dynamic basically breaking up the group, and making me responsible. We have a "summer friend group trip" in the planning about 2 months from now. The issue is I don't really want to stay with her for that long, but I feel like I do not have a choice or else I will ruin the trip and the group.
I am planning on graduate school in the fall and I told her I don't want long distance. She wanted me to put off grad school for a year to stay with her, which I absolutely told her no to. Now she thinks it will be romantic and will be the most passionate part of our relationship so we should stay together until I leave. I told her this doesn't seem like sound logic but I will think about it.

I was in a startup for few years where I focused on deployment of pre-trained models in scalable way, creating infrastructure using IaC, implementing CI/CD etc. I really enjoyed this, but I wanted to change to be exposed to the whole lifecycle of MLOps (from data ingestion to model monitoring and automatic retraining and deployment) as I only worked on the deployment part of it.
Recently (in January), I joined a startup to supposedly work on this. However, once I started working there, I discovered that the environment was terrible, and there was little to no knowledge of software engineering, let alone AI. Additionally, the work they had initially promised me had completely changed, and I don't see any opportunities for growth in this company. I feel like I need to leave as soon as possible because I don't have a team, and I'm completely left alone with terrible coding practices. Despite this, the work I'm doing at the moment somehow makes sense, but once it's finished in 1 or 2 months, it will become nonsense, and that's when I would love to fly the company.

- It would mean stop working with neural networks and go back to classical ML where I have no working experience and that honestly doesn't excites me much. I always loved neural networks and my ideal job would be exactly this, but with DL instead of ML
- The models they have are used only internally at the moment so probably I wouldn't see much stress load there

But I wanted to ask a few things from people who have some experience modding:
1.Is that a good choice? I don't need some options, mostly just making money(from missions, not by adding artificially) crash protections, teleport and other quality of life changes, i wouldn't be needing any griefing tools or anything that interferes with other players.
2.I understand it's an internal menu, running as part of the game. How can it avoid detection by Rockstar Launcher checking the game files? Won't it get me banned for just being there?
3.Is the site I'm looking at, stand.gg, legit?
4.Is there a way to see when a Rockstar employee is spectating me? As far as I know you can get banned by auto detection of cheated money/cars, by getting reported for cheating in a public session, or by an admin who decides to take a look at what you're doing and witnesses you cheating. Can the menu prevent or warn me about the last one?
5.Are menus like Stand fun to use for someone not amused by griefing and aimbotting? As in, are there some fun things to do not designed to ruin the fun of others?

Where there's smoke, there's usually fire. Usually. This is a short story of where smoke didn't come from fire, but from friction and burnout. In the background is the famed RotaScript engine. In the foreground is the suffering of the people who made it.
You must imagine the clones happy. Not from their heads, not from their drugs, but from their own lives. In this case, there were five: Jalal 29, Miracle 3281, Berbanz 198, and Caspar and Shikhs, who chose their own names. They were engineers of various stripes, two Happies, two Specials, a Biggie who ascended from fabrication duties. They were part of a station 'problem solving pod' who solved medium to long term problems that involved complex thinking and challenging issues. Sometimes, these pods were tapped to develop new technologies.
Sometimes, they would do this on their own. Specials were smart, when cultivated and allowed to be. Happies could be creative. Biggies continually surprised; their prank wars took on characteristics of military operations. One day, watching the space air ripple around a new radiator after some unknown quirk of the cluster played with one's expectations, Jalal 29 asked Miracle 3281 why the space air didn't burn. Miracle didn't have an answer, other than 'it doesn't', and they really didn't like that. They resolved to get an answer.
After a week, they didn’t have an answer, but they did have some experiments run, some more planned, and a realization that the G.U.S.S knew very, very little about the space air. By accident, they had become an astrochemist, and were prescribed antidepressants. They continued their work, and took a second week to draw some very nice looking charts. These charts showed when things caught on fire, comparing a number of factors. It also showed that space air normally didn’t catch on fire, ever. This was a good explanation for Jalal, but then Shikhs floated in, as one does in zero gravity, and asked why they didn’t change those circumstances to light it on fire.
Both of them cursed him bitterly for being an engineer, and then did some back of the envelope calculations on how to do that. It would take magic to right, magic that they couldn’t really do themselves–but Berbanz was a handimage with two decades of experience, and Caspar had a vague idea how runes worked. It took them little convincing to make them want nothing to do with the project, but some trades of contraband and an assembly of a special fireproofing chamber brought them around. After the stationmaster signed off, the group began to design the space for the reaction and the rune activation sequences.
This turned out to be fiendishly hard. Clone runes are a young alphabet. Not all parts are known, nor do all parts work well with each other–some even cancel out or cause cross-script interference known as ‘ringing’ that often gave mages painful audito-like effects. They can only be energized as part of a working magitech component at certain points, making miniaturization a pain. This made the clones decide to go big.
The first time that they achieved fire, they used a strip of runes that had been welded into a muffler. This caused an explosion, which is very dangerous on a space station, and despite their cluster-beating results, the stationmaster chewed them out in front of half the crew. In addition to sporting personal injuries, the master’s harsh words took a toll on the team’s morale, as did the punishment cleanup and repair assignments. Still, they talked about the next form that their work should take. They knew that the principle worked. They had made fire! Now they needed a flame, and ideally one that didn’t explode. The problem, it seemed to be, was running all of the runes in a normal spell; they didn’t play nice.
Caspar’s idea was to run the runes one at a time, just very very quickly. This was to prevent their ‘areas of effect’ from running into each other, which was something that they only knew a little about. Miracle suggested turning them off and on very quickly, and Berbanz got on him about that rather viciously; suggesting that it would be a miracle if he shut up. Berbanz then went for a float, kicking things, and whacked his shin on an internal combustion engine that hadn’t been scrapped yet.

The idea flowed very quickly after that. Each rune would be mounted on a ‘piston’, and moved in and out of the ignition chamber quickly enough to not interfere with the other. Switching times could be disregarded as long as the rune’s area of manifest didn’t run into each other. Shihks ended up taking on most of the optimization duties, smacking his thumbs and fiddling with gearboxes, and Miracle designed and implemented the fuel and air injectors. A night’s electric refusal to sleep gave them some pipe type optimization ideas, which were translated into concrete advances in making an engine block that would stand up to combustion’s strains much better.
In four weeks, they had a working engine. Combusting a variety of fuels, it was tested in a safety pod outdoors and generated viable thrust for vehicles like shuttles, crewships, and multipurpose utility vehicles. The reaction was electric: a new technology! One with a breakthrough in physics, no less! Clones had done it–clones could do it! They were advanced now! The sky was the limit! An internal combustion engine was only the start–now they were going to go for a turbine, synching runes with blades!
This was a bad idea. Anyone looking at the original team could see that–they were exhausted, pushed past their limits, and unable to explain much of what happened in the device. Too many questions still went unanswered, and the newly assembled research team rushed into experimentation. In a wide workshop converted from a vehicle factory, they employed hydraulic presses to fabricate runes and mated them to a working device. The external firing chamber was even stronger than the previous designs, made of cast steel and lined with a smooth protective layer of refractory brick–it wasn’t optimal, but it was effective. Rune power strength was monitored with implanted e-meter elements. On the surface, things were looking up.
Of course, this didn’t end well. When the turbine was activated, there was a bright white flash, and an explosion that emptied the room and killed everyone into it. The device itself was launched three kilometers in a ballistic trajectory, and struck a peasant’s cattlepen. On impact, the methane in the bovine’s digestive tracts somehow detonated. The final casualty count was 42 dead, and 139 wounded. This was a significant setback; core self trained engineers and experts were dead or wounded, and nearly all progress on making the device had been lost.
Reports would indicate that a lack of computational and core mathematics understanding lead to an inability to understand the dynamics of the runes. (1) But they did not describe Miracle’s wailing as more and more names came back from the hospital, nor Berbanz’ idle wish that he’d been bolted at day 4 instead of spared and nursed to health. It was clear to everyone that they had been playing with forces beyond their control, and they had no idea how to comprehend them. Even while engines that burnt space air were made to purr, it became obvious that they were yet another black box, another mystery that they didn’t comprehend.
The more things that changed, the more things stayed the same.
If the clones had access to FTL computing, especially a mechanical device that could have interfaced directly with the turbine, this wouldn’t have happened.

In this case, there were five: Jalal 29, Miracle 3281, Berbanz 198, and Caspar and Shikhs, who chose their own names. They were engineers of various stripes, two Happies, two Specials, a Biggie who ascended from fabrication duties. They were part of a station 'problem solving pod' who solved medium to long term problems that involved complex thinking and challenging issues. Sometimes, these pods were tapped to develop new technologies.
Sometimes, they would do this on their own. Specials were smart, when cultivated and allowed to be. Happies could be creative. Biggies continually surprised; their prank wars took on characteristics of military operations. One day, watching the space air ripple around a new radiator after some unknown quirk of the cluster played with one's expectations, Jalal 29 asked Miracle 3281 why the space air didn't burn. Miracle didn't have an answer, other than 'it doesn't', and they really didn't like that. They resolved to get an answer.
After a week, they didn’t have an answer, but they did have some experiments run, some more planned, and a realization that the G.U.S.S knew very, very little about the space air. By accident, they had become an astrochemist, and were prescribed antidepressants. They continued their work, and took a second week to draw some very nice looking charts. These charts showed when things caught on fire, comparing a number of factors. It also showed that space air normally didn’t catch on fire, ever. This was a good explanation for Jalal, but then Shikhs floated in, as one does in zero gravity, and asked why they didn’t change those circumstances to light it on fire.
Both of them cursed him bitterly for being an engineer, and then did some back of the envelope calculations on how to do that. It would take magic to right, magic that they couldn’t really do themselves–but Berbanz was a handimage with two decades of experience, and Caspar had a vague idea how runes worked. It took them little convincing to make them want nothing to do with the project, but some trades of contraband and an assembly of a special fireproofing chamber brought them around. After the stationmaster signed off, the group began to design the space for the reaction and the rune activation sequences.
This turned out to be fiendishly hard. Clone runes are a young alphabet. Not all parts are known, nor do all parts work well with each other–some even cancel out or cause cross-script interference known as ‘ringing’ that often gave mages painful audito-like effects. They can only be energized as part of a working magitech component at certain points, making miniaturization a pain. This made the clones decide to go big.
The first time that they achieved fire, they used a strip of runes that had been welded into a muffler. This caused an explosion, which is very dangerous on a space station, and despite their cluster-beating results, the stationmaster chewed them out in front of half the crew. In addition to sporting personal injuries, the master’s harsh words took a toll on the team’s morale, as did the punishment cleanup and repair assignments. Still, they talked about the next form that their work should take. They knew that the principle worked. They had made fire! Now they needed a flame, and ideally one that didn’t explode. The problem, it seemed to be, was running all of the runes in a normal spell; they didn’t play nice.
Caspar’s idea was to run the runes one at a time, just very very quickly. This was to prevent their ‘areas of effect’ from running into each other, which was something that they only knew a little about. Miracle suggested turning them off and on very quickly, and Berbanz got on him about that rather viciously; suggesting that it would be a miracle if he shut up. Berbanz then went for a float, kicking things, and whacked his shin on an internal combustion engine that hadn’t been scrapped yet.

The idea flowed very quickly after that. Each rune would be mounted on a ‘piston’, and moved in and out of the ignition chamber quickly enough to not interfere with the other. Switching times could be disregarded as long as the rune’s area of manifest didn’t run into each other. Shihks ended up taking on most of the optimization duties, smacking his thumbs and fiddling with gearboxes, and Miracle designed and implemented the fuel and air injectors. A night’s electric refusal to sleep gave them some pipe type optimization ideas, which were translated into concrete advances in making an engine block that would stand up to combustion’s strains much better.
In four weeks, they had a working engine. Combusting a variety of fuels, it was tested in a safety pod outdoors and generated viable thrust for vehicles like shuttles, crewships, and multipurpose utility vehicles. The reaction was electric: a new technology! One with a breakthrough in physics, no less! Clones had done it–clones could do it! They were advanced now! The sky was the limit! An internal combustion engine was only the start–now they were going to go for a turbine, synching runes with blades!
This was a bad idea. Anyone looking at the original team could see that–they were exhausted, pushed past their limits, and unable to explain much of what happened in the device. Too many questions still went unanswered, and the newly assembled research team rushed into experimentation. In a wide workshop converted from a vehicle factory, they employed hydraulic presses to fabricate runes and mated them to a working device. The external firing chamber was even stronger than the previous designs, made of cast steel and lined with a smooth protective layer of refractory brick–it wasn’t optimal, but it was effective. Rune power strength was monitored with implanted e-meter elements. On the surface, things were looking up.
Of course, this didn’t end well. When the turbine was activated, there was a bright white flash, and an explosion that emptied the room and killed everyone into it. The device itself was launched three kilometers in a ballistic trajectory, and struck a peasant’s cattlepen. On impact, the methane in the bovine’s digestive tracts somehow detonated. The final casualty count was 42 dead, and 139 wounded. This was a significant setback; core self trained engineers and experts were dead or wounded, and nearly all progress on making the device had been lost.
Reports would indicate that a lack of computational and core mathematics understanding lead to an inability to understand the dynamics of the runes. (1) But they did not describe Miracle’s wailing as more and more names came back from the hospital, nor Berbanz’ idle wish that he’d been bolted at day 4 instead of spared and nursed to health. It was clear to everyone that they had been playing with forces beyond their control, and they had no idea how to comprehend them. Even while engines that burnt space air were made to purr, it became obvious that they were yet another black box, another mystery that they didn’t comprehend.
The more things that changed, the more things stayed the same.
If the clones had access to FTL computing, especially a mechanical device that could have interfaced directly with the turbine, this wouldn’t have happened.

I found a Ribbsan Starline (Nissan Skyline) at the junkyard when I first started the game and I really wanted to buy it but I couldn't afford it that time. Fast forward 30 hours later, I'm well over a 100k credits and I found another one at the junkyard. I was gonna rebuild it because the Nissan Skyline is like known as a highly modifiable car that outputs extreme horsepower historically, unless I'm mistaken.
I rebuilt it with the turbocharged engine, with all performance parts (no 3 star) and full stage 3 ECU tuning and it only outputs about 500 horsepower. I really thought it would be more but still, it's a very iconic car.
Nowhere near my favourite though. My favourite is the Bolt Cape MK7. That was my FIRST project car in this game and I started it when I had no credits. It was total chance that I ended up working on that particular car that happened coincidentally to be able to take one of the best and most powerful engines in the entire game as far as junkyard finds go. I worked on it for days (I ran short of cash often and had to pause it until I got more) rebuilding it from the ground up with all performance parts but the main thing is the beautiful V8 supercharged engine. A few times I found myself having no cash at all and I couldn't do jobs because I didn't have enough to buy parts it was like a really scary cycle I thought the game was broken and I was in a state of perpetual brokeness but you can take jobs where you change fluids until you have enough to get back to normal jobs. Restoring cars is a good way too and at that point I didn't have the drag DLC and I also didn't have a drag car, so I couldn't make money that way either. The V8 engine literally looks like a heart. Without any 3 star but with full stage 3 ECU tuning, that car outputted easily over 1000 horsepower and with some 3 stars it now outputs over 1500. I know it's just a game but I have some semblance of what it feels like to actually rebuild a car that you are so proud of and that has sentimental value to you. I have no technical experience but I really hope I can have that experience in real life some day. I came very close to selling it once because I really needed the credits but thankfully I didn't and it made more for me on the drag strip than I would have gotten by selling it after restoration.
I don't think I'll ever find another car that I will like more than this Bolt Cape. It's VERY good at 1 mile drag races. It exits the race with a speed of 326 km/h. It can beat just about any car on the 1 mile strip but quarter mile and 8th mile I can be beaten. I'm not sure why but this car has a tremendous top speed but not as good acceleration as some of the other cars I race against like the Pagani and Jaguar F type if I'm not mistaken.
As far as junkyard finds go, what car has potentially the most power? It has to be one that takes this engine right? I don't think there is another car that can make more power if it doesn't have this beautiful supercharged V8 engine.

I have had crippling OCD my whole life. I'm about 40 years old now. I'm reading many posts here from younger people and I see so many of you in crisis or having a difficult time. I will share some coping mechanisms which have helped me.
Please note: I write "coping" and "helped" deliberately. This is not something that ever goes away. I remember early on trying to "fight it". It works for a time, but often it comes back with a vengeance, leading to a sort of "rebound effect" where we end up floating from crisis to crisis.
One of the best things I've learned about it, is to cope. Just try and do your best. In my younger days I used to think "I'm just going to do this one more thing, then I'm going to be finished this forever, and I'll never do anything OCD related, and everything will be great". It never happened. It never will happen. The OCD is a part of you. I believe it represents a sort of Wounded Inner Child, which is a part of you. Attacking it, punishing it, berating it, getting angry at it, is not going to help. It needs compassion, love, understanding. Why does it feel the need to act this way? What is it trying to express? What does it need?
Talk to you OCD as though it were your friend, not your enemy. Your friend is maybe in pain right now, how can you help them?
Here are some of my coping mechanisms:
Remember, try not to fight yourself. I believe your OCD is a form of your Wounded Inner Child. If you had a child, and you knew your child was in pain, you would want to help it, wouldn't you? You would have compassion, and you would be patient and understanding with it. Try to take this approach with yourself.
Finally, last point. Try to find some humour in it. Instead of saying "I can't believe I'm still touching lines argh!!" say, "this is hilarious I'm touching these lines hahaha."

Here are some of my coping mechanisms:
- Exercise. I think this one is key. I know we've all heard it before, but it is really true. My problematic OCD symptoms seem less after a workout. I usually do jogging or another form of cardio (or team sports). Sweating seems to be the key.
- B Vitamins. I don't have any data on this, but I remember the first time I took a B vitamin complex. I felt much more lucid and more in control of my thoughts. All vitamin supplements seem to have helped, C, D and Magnesium for example. But the B vitamin complex really was the one which helped. You can buy them for cheap in a pharmacy. Much healthier for you than antidepressants or other pharmaceutical medication.
- Vegetables. I'm eating tons of vegetables these days. Leafy greens, broccoli, peppers, green beans. I'm not a crazy nutrition freak about it, but like for example if I get a combo at a fast food restaurant I'll get salad instead of fries. Lots of simple carbs seems to trigger unwanted symptoms. I have experimented personally a great deal with this. Simple carbs increase unwanted symptoms, while complex carbs and fiber (vegetables) have helped to alleviate symptoms.
- Meditation. Now I don't really know anything about meditation. But one technique I've learned is to sit in a dark room, close your eyes and start deep breathing. Then invite that little voice inside of you, the one compelling you to do rituals, and invite it to sit with you. In front of you, beside you, doesn't matter. What does it look like? Is it a green monster? Or is it a scared child? Whatever it is, invite it outside of you to sit with you, and talk with it. Ask it: What do you want? And What do you need? I have had extremely surprising results with this. The voice suddenly answers back, and it's not what you might expect. It can be quite revealing.
- Tai Chi. Again, I know almost nothing about this. I've just put on YouTube channels and followed that, paying close attention to breathing. It helps.
- Journaling. I journal like an addict at this point. Pen and paper, not your computer. It is incredible what comes out. Write down how you are feeling at the moment. Just try and express it. Write down the ritual you are supposed to do, or what it is that is bothering you. Write it down in detail. Don't be afraid. Writing it down is like a talisman. Then read what you wrote. Go back a week later and read what you wrote (this is very therapeutic). You'll be surprised at the changes in your mood. You'll be surprised at what you reveal.
- Playing a musical instrument. Not everyone can do this, but you can learn. Music has been extremely soothing for me. Writing my own music has been extremely soothing. Playing songs I love, like the Beatles, has been extremely soothing. For whatever reason, playing an instrument alleviates the symptoms.
- Speaking another language. Again not everyone can do this, but again you can learn. Again for whatever reason, when I speak Spanish for example, I don't have as many symptoms. This could be because I grew up in an English speaking household, and somehow associate English with unwanted memories and hence OCD. Maybe? I don't know. But learning another language really helped me. I speak five languages now.
- Learning something new. Similar to the musical instrument and learning languages. Creating new pathways in the brain helps. Instead of doing the same routine, learning something new.
- Baths. Take a long hot bath. Put in bath salts or bubble bath. Close your eyes and soak in the darkness or candle light.
Remember, try not to fight yourself. I believe your OCD is a form of your Wounded Inner Child. If you had a child, and you knew your child was in pain, you would want to help it, wouldn't you? You would have compassion, and you would be patient and understanding with it. Try to take this approach with yourself.
