2023.03.30 16:06 GTADashcam First time SSN application for a Canadian on TN VISA, taking longer than anticipated

Hi all,
I entered the U.S. on March 8th and was approved for TN Visa at Newark. Upon approval, I was provided an I-94 and a stamp, I then drove over to a SSA office closest to Newark airport. The SSA officer tried to submit my application for a SSN, however he was unable to. He stated that there is a discrepancy of some sort with my END date of the TN VISA. He stated the system said it’s a mismatch and it shows as “indefinitely” however it should match with the valid expiry date that’s on the Stamp and I-94. FWIW, the TN VISA is valid for 3 years in my case.
Anyhow, he suggested to come back the next day and reapply as their may have just been a back end system update that’s not taken place yet.
We tried on March 9th, same result. We tried on Friday, March 10th, same result.
Finally come the follow Monday, he was able to submit my application on March 13th. However this was rejected and returned back to the SSA office as their was.. a mismatch/discrepancy.
I was advised to contract CBP at Newark and see if the my I-94 is incorrect. They reviewed it same day and noticed my middle name which is on my Passport, was not included in the I-94, so they amended it.
I went back for the SSA office same day, March 14, and we reapplied.
And then guess what? You guessed it… rejected and returned back to the SSA office.. citing. Mismatch/discrepancy.
Finally on March 15th the same SSA staff member spoke to higher up at the office and with their assistance they resubmitted my SSN application on Friday, March 16th.
And since March 16th, guess what? No response… I’ve been in daily contact with the SSA office and they just simply haven’t gotten a returned response.. so they do not know if it’s approved or denied… there simply isn’t a decision made as it’s still under review.
Now they suggested to come back in today and re-apply a SSN application.
I don’t know, should I? Shouldn’t we just wait for the application from 16th to be given a result?
Isn’t there a way for the SSA office to call their back office and ask if something is even looked at? To ask if the file isn’t placed in the wrong backlog? Or something… how can they just sit there blindly lol is that even a thing ?
I want to note: the Staff has VERY PATIENT AND KIND. I just wish I could have an answer as my employer is literally on my behind about the SSN , as they cannot provide me with access to the systems unless I have a SSN, fingerprints and background completed. I was supposed to start work on March 10. I may be out of a job… as the project is kicking off and I’m not a part of it. They can bring in someone else…
Please help. What do I do? Where do I go? Anyone else in similar shoes?

2023.03.30 16:05 brandi_theratgirl Elderly man without housing almost loses all of his belongings because of the "HART" team who wouldn't let others hold it for him

Kevin was gone to the doctor and left his belongings with others when the HART team came through. People there tried to save his stuff and it was stored. Most often, the HART team just throws out belongings. I took him to pick it up, but if he didn't have assistance, he wouldn't have had a way to get his belongings back, since he didn't know where to go and can't walk far without his walker. If he didn't have medications in the bag that was stored, he would've had to try to manage scheduling an appointment and waiting at least a day without his blankets and walker, even though it was cold and raining. This is actually one of the few success stories, as in the same sweep, the officers refused to let a woman take her blankets and clothing from a cart they then threw away.

2023.03.30 16:04 LocationOk1668 OneDrive Pricing: How Much Does OneDrive Cost and What Are Your Options?

OneDrive is a popular cloud storage service offered by Microsoft that allows you to store and access your files from anywhere. OneDrive offers a variety of plans with different storage capacities and features. If you're considering using OneDrive for your personal or business needs, it's essential to understand the different pricing options available.
OneDrive Pricing Plans
OneDrive offers two main pricing plans: Microsoft 365 and OneDrive standalone. Microsoft 365 includes a suite of applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, in addition to OneDrive storage. Here are the pricing options for each plan:
Microsoft 365 Personal: This plan costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year and includes 1 TB of OneDrive storage, access to Microsoft Office applications, and advanced security features.
Microsoft 365 Family: This plan costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year and includes 6 TB of OneDrive storage (1 TB per user), access to Microsoft Office applications for up to six users, and advanced security features.
OneDrive standalone: If you don't need Microsoft Office applications, you can choose a standalone OneDrive plan. Here are the pricing options:
OneDrive Basic: This plan is free and includes 5 GB of storage.
OneDrive 100 GB: This plan costs $1.99 per month and includes 100 GB of storage.
OneDrive 1 TB: This plan costs $5.99 per month and includes 1 TB of storage.

OneDrive for Business: OneDrive also offers plans for businesses of all sizes. OneDrive for Business plans start at $5 per user per month and offer additional features such as SharePoint integration, advanced security and compliance features, and unlimited storage.
Comparing OneDrive Pricing Plans
When comparing OneDrive pricing plans, it's important to consider your storage needs and whether you need access to Microsoft Office applications. If you only need basic storage, the free Basic plan or the 100 GB plan may be sufficient. If you need more storage, the 1 TB or 6 TB plans may be more appropriate.
If you need access to Microsoft Office applications, it may be more cost-effective to choose a Microsoft 365 plan, which includes OneDrive storage and access to Office applications. The Microsoft 365 Family plan is especially useful for families who need multiple users to have access to Microsoft Office applications.

2023.03.30 16:03 doitromah Is it still worth it to get a Social Work degree?

Hello. I’m in my mid 20s and currently work in social work. Most of my life I have been lost and have not had a clue of what I have wanted to do for the rest of my life. I’ve gave it a lot of thought and I really really want to go to school and eventually get a Masters in social work. I am just wondering, is it worth it these days? To those of you that have been in this field for a long time, if you were in my shoes would you go to school now? Am I too old? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you.

2023.03.30 16:03 Adam_RJ Insurance ecosystems: “Co-opetition” is the key to success

Pravina Ladva, Group Chief Digital & Technology Officer of Swiss Re writes about the importance of 'co-opetition' within the growing digital ecosystem
Historically, the insurance sector has not been known for its innovation power, being relatively slow to adapt and embrace new technologies. And to the eye, this has left it far less disrupted than many other sectors.
However, that is not to say that technology will not transform the market in profound ways. Nor that it is not seeing accelerated competition from purely digital market players.
Incumbents must choose to disrupt their own offerings or face disruption from outside sources. A first step will be leveraging new partnerships and ecosystems to boost their digital transformation.
In nature, an ecosystem consists of different organisms which interact in and with a common environment, all depending on each other to survive and thrive. Ecosystems are constantly evolving and subject to periodic disruptions by internal and external factors. As the general concept of insurance itself is also forced to evolve or even disrupt given the increasing availability of real-time data, incumbents are starting to adapt – moving from being data-enabled to data-led. Taking a bold approach towards digital transformation is necessary to shape the future of the industry. While data used to be static, in a world of artificial intelligence, the competitive advantage will belong to those with the best innovative capacities.
The rise of computational power, networked devices, changing consumer behaviours and the explosion in the amount of available data have led to new digital marketplaces that are changing the way insurance policies are bought and understood. This has led to the creation and growth of purely digital market players as new competitors to the established industry leaders.
Rather than posing a threat, this evolution offers huge potential to leverage collaboration with ecosystem partners which in many cases do not have an obvious link to the insurance sector.

Ecosystems need healthy “co-opetition”

To be successful, ecosystem partnerships must enable seamless digital customer journeys. This requires an end-to-end view. With ecosystems becoming more and more prominent in our industry, they increasingly provide the bedrock for embedded insurance, one of the most exciting ideas of recent times. And it is easy to see why. By using digital technology and data to create better underwriting models, we can improve customer experiences, marketing effectiveness, risk selection, pricing and unit economics.
Such seamless collaboration is a prerequisite to ensure the level of agility the insurance industry needs to adapt to rapidly changing environments and dynamic customer behaviour. In short, now is the time for “co-opetition,” where partners compete and collaborate simultaneously – of course, all in line with competition law considerations.
This also requires rethinking how we view customers. In an ecosystem, customers never “belong” to a single organisation, but rather to the entire network. By leveraging such ecosystems, insurers can compensate for a lack of direct customer touchpoints and gain data to understand and address needs more efficiently and effectively. Non-insurance partners can enhance their offerings by incorporating insurance coverage in a way that boosts loyalty and deepens their relationship with their customers.

From protection to prevention

If we think even bolder, digitalisation and collaborative business models are also enabling the current paradigm shift in insurance offerings with a stronger focus on risk prevention and mitigation services, instead of traditional pay-outs after an event has occurred. How? First, such models are far better able to capture, analyse and understand the risks customers face, helping mitigate them. Second, with real-time insights and end-to-end visibility, insurers can advise and guide customers, while also incentivising more risk-averse behaviour.
However, it is important that such data-driven and AI-enabled insurance solutions are covered by agreed industry best practices to guide the responsible and ethical use of data for the benefit of end customers and society. Such technology will only reach its true potential if we gain the trust of customers, regulators and other stakeholders.
For all the excitement about what’s possible with digitalisation, let’s not forget that progress depends on talented people who dare to leave well-trodden paths, challenge traditional approaches and who try again after failure. It will take very connected minds to realise the full potential of digital technologies – with their inherent cyber risks, and ethical implications – for the benefit of society at large.
Not all disruption happens on the surface. While there is far more road to run, technology is transforming the insurance industry and the opportunity to harness this still exists for both new and incumbent players. As such, all parts of a successful insurance ecosystem play a vital role in not only keeping it alive, but making it thrive.

2023.03.30 16:02 Dynasty__93 Need help with what is covered in my situation for Dept. of Workforce Development aid for school expenses?

I have a 4 year degree but graduated what seems like forever ago (2016). Back between 2012-2016 my financial aid counselor informed me of many things that can be included to be covered via financial aid. I remember sitting in their office and saying how I was not sure how I would get back and forth on weekends because I had to do respite for a differently abled family member and they quickly let me know if I needed vehicle repairs to make my at the time beater vehicle more reliable I could get an appeal and get those expenses covered by some financial aid. In my sophomore year my laptop crashed and soon after I contacted that same financial aid counselor and she informed me things like computers are also covered and sent me an appeal document, I filled it out, and my allowed finical aid amount that semester got upped by $900...
Fast forward to today I have been working full time for the government for 7 years and want to go into a similar field but in a promotion position that requires me to take 5 courses online (expect each 5 courses requires 1 in person day about 60 miles away). This is a different school and it should be noted these 5 courses to lock me into the promotion position are NOT financial aid eligible. However I do have a disability and the DWD (Department of Workforce Development) is willing to pay for my entire 5 courses. There are a few things I want to discuss with the person working in DWD, but they have a very limited amount of time available to respond to emails and phone calls so here I am basically asking a fire round of questions on if anyone would know if DWD would be able to cover these things?
- Car expenses
- Laptop (this one I am almost sure they would because it is a direct expense)
- Smartphone (current one is not working well and I would be using it along with my laptop to do coursework and listen to the coursework via headphones instead of reading it because I have migraines that flare up if I stare at a screen too long. The app I would be using is only available via Samsung or iPhone smartphone.

I have a pair of black Q150s that I'm looking to part with. They're great speakers, but they're currently set up in an extremely small home office (like 7' x 10') in which they're kind of overkill and I get more use out of a 2.1 desktop setup with smaller monitors. The outsides have seen some knocks (I have cats), but they're in perfect working order. I've also got like 50' of 16 gauge speaker wire and some acrylic anglers to include.
The timestamp photo of the speakers is a truly heinous photo but harsh light and excessive dust / cat hair will do that. They sound great.
Local pickup preferred since I don't think the cost of shipping would make sense vs. buying a set on Amazon. Based in Brooklyn, NY.
I'm also considering selling a NAD 316BEE, also pictured. Probably looking for $250 or best offer — these don't pop up secondhand all that often, so I'm not sure where to set the price.

2023.03.30 16:01 firstimsour Is this PTO mandate legal?

Hi - not sure if I’m posting in the correct sub here so please redirect me if not.
I started at my job right after Thanksgiving. I am a buyer for a production site so I am an office employee. We are changing ERP systems over the week of 4th of July. This is traditionally when the shop floor will shut down for one week. Office employees do not work on the floor, so we are not affected. This year, since the ERP system is changing, they are mandating that everyone takes a week off (40 hours of PTO).
Is this legal?
I hardly have any PTO since I just started and only accrue 8 hours every 2 weeks. I feel like I can’t use my time off how I want and I’ll just be sitting at home since I have nothing planned that week… I already had to take off 6 days during the Christmas time since no one was here to train me. I started the year off in the negative, and I have only been able to take off a half day because I am trying to save my PTO for my vacation I ACTUALLY have planned and booked later in the year.

2023.03.30 16:00 ismylandlordweird WIBTA for thinking it’s a weird thing for my landlord to ask me to take care of his kids?

I (25F) live in a large city and stay in a family’s basement for over $1300 a month. They have been nice but we don’t really talk at all which is fine with me. I moved in around Feb and I mostly keep to myself and just go to work.
My landlord (50s M) told me they would be leaving to go out of the country because his parent was in critical condition. He took his entire family with him which is his wife and kids. They asked me to look out for packages and stuff while they’re gone which is not a big deal so I said okay and to have a safe flight etc.
A week later (today) he texts me and says his kids would be coming back but not him about a week from now. He asked me to take his kids to school until he gets back. I don’t know when exactly that is.
The reason I think I might be the asshole is because I think it’s an insane request to ask a tenant that just lives here and I don’t know if they have any other family here. But I also know we live in a high cost of living area and this house is probably worth more than I could ever afford so I don’t see why it’s my responsibility to take care of my landlords children, he could probably pay for a ride share service or something else. For reference the kids are at least 17 I believe. My mom says I’m an asshole for not being helpful and that it’s selfish.
I have a job that I can work from home and maybe have time to take them (I start about an hour after I would take them to school). I haven’t called him about it yet because I feel bad but like I said I have a full time job and live in a big city. If I want to go into the office or am required to for anything (I had already made plans to go into the office next week for something I have to do for example) I don’t have time to take them because it takes over an hour to get there.
I genuinely think it’s an insane thing to ask a random tenant to do without consideration of my job or my life, he just said “I won’t be coming back and I need you to take my kids to school for an undisclosed amount of time.” Granted I have not called him yet to hear more and the circumstances are out of his control so I don’t know if I am the asshole and should take his kids to school.

2023.03.30 16:00 baka-tari Not only am I NOT going to fire him

This is Willie's story, I was lucky enough to be along for the ride. TLDR at the end.
Have you ever worked with someone who you know immediately is really something special? I've had a few opportunities to work with people like this and my first thought is "I want to help this person get wherever it is they're going."
I worked for a non-profit for a while after retiring from the Army. First day on the job, one of my peers on the leadership team pulled me aside and warned me about one of the guys on my team.
Jane: You'll have to keep a close eye on Willie. He's low-effort, takes a lot of hand-holding, rubs people the wrong way, and honestly we're considering firing him.
Me: Thanks for the heads up! You never know what you're getting into at a new position, so I appreciate having the info.
But then I started working closely with Willie and made some discoveries. Sure, Willie was an introvert - kept to himself and could be a touch socially awkward - but he knew his job inside and out. He managed my department's logistics requirements precisely - we always had what we needed, but never too much excess static stock on hand. He found innovative ways to work with our community partners. He built new initiatives that capitalized on existing resources without incurring additional costs - a very important skill to have in a non-profit. He impressed donors so much that he actually convinced them to contribute significant sums in support of his additional duty department - and he wasn't even part of the fund-raising team. Willie was a quiet rock star, and I quickly realized how lucky I was to have him.
Despite all this, the rest of the regional leadership team seemed to have it in for him. I found out later what it was that set them off. Willie had made an off-hand comment to Jane about a year before I joined. Nothing sexist or bad, just a casual observation about a physical aspect of the office space that Jane interpreted poorly. She shared it with other leaders in the org, they decided that the comment made their teeth itch, and it became a snowball that quickly rolled over Willie's reputation.
The comment was relayed to me by a third party a few months after my arrival. I went and talked to Willie about it directly - I wanted to get his take. Our discussion revealed that it was totally innocuous, but misinterpretation had caused a misunderstanding and the damage was done. Rather than asking questions of Willie to clarify, they assumed a bunch of shit and ran with it.
The stage was set, and Willie had realized that he didn't have a future at our location. Leadership had made up their minds about him and were actively blocking his options when they learned about any moves he was trying to make. I knew of at least 3 instances where they torpedoed his chances for interviews at other nearby locations in the organization, tripping him before he even got out of the gate.
Willie knew if he was going to advance, it was going to be somewhere else. He started looking for new work and he eventually found something at another branch of our organization in a different state. He kept it very quiet, got the interview, and the other region was assessing the different candidates. The only other person in our region who knew about it was me, and that was only because I'd spent months gaining Willie's trust - he knew he could confide in me and I wouldn't shit on him.
Around that time, Jane hit me up again about Willie :
Jane: I'm amazed by the changes in Willie since you came on board - you've really done a lot to mentor him and get him up to his full potential!
Me: I have done a lot of work where Willie is concerned. Some of it was helping him with professional development . . . but most of it has been focused on shifting the leadership team's perspective. He's really not that different from when I arrived, but as you just indicated, your perception of him has definitely changed. I've put a lot of effort into just letting him shine, giving him credit for the good things he does, and staying out of his way. He didn't need micromanagement, he needed room to run. Every time he achieved something I made a point of highlighting his success and the benefit it brought to our organization. The work I did wasn't on him, it was on you.
Jane: " . . . "
Back to Willie: I asked if he wanted me to go to bat for him in the hiring process with the other region. He said he'd appreciate the help so I called the manager at the other location and told her "I don't want to lose Willie, but all the reasons why I want him to stay here are the same reasons why you need him there. The problem is, if Willie stays here the organization is going to lose him because they won't promote him. I'd rather have him stay with the organization in a different place than lose his commitment and skills entirely."
She hired him. Of course, it was all him - skills, experience, interview - she knew she was getting someone amazing. My recommendation was just icing on the cake - made it easier for her to decide what she already knew.
Willie's taste of sweet, sweet revenge came when the leadership team had to eat crow as they congratulated him on his move. Willie knew this team of "leaders" had put a lot of effort into making sure he'd never advance. Some of their "congratulations" were less than genuine, including Jane's.
The cherry on top was that the pay and position at the new job was half a step above mine and the rest of the leadership team. That's right - he moved on, he moved up, and he outranked us all.
A most excellent "eff you" to the folks who had stood in his way.
TLDR: Local leadership tries to sink promotion opportunities for one of my team, he ends up out-ranking all of them.

2023.03.30 16:00 unactivereddit Co-Worker neglecting her baby?

I had previously posted this in AmITheAsshole :
I have a coworker who is also a first time mom like myself. Her baby is 6 months old, dark hair, dark complexion, and has two bright strawberry birthmarks (cupids bow / center of forehead. (This matters for later)
I’ve noticed that she leaves her baby in pooped diapers for 2+ hours everyday at work, doesn’t wipe her properly(I have changed her peed diaper several times and she had poop in the crevices of her vagina) doesn’t try and feed her any purées because “It takes too much time”, the baby will poop all over her clothes and she won’t put her in new ones, rarely bathes this baby(I accidentally left a pen mark on the baby and it was there for 5 days) and she will SMELL awful.
The worst of it all this baby always has diarrhea (causing blowouts) because she gives her oil drops in her mouth to “lighten her birthmarks” and slathers her in cream that smells awful…I’ve been suspecting it’s bleach(?) it smells very chemically and the child seems to be very bothered by it, I mainly think it’s bleach because the child’s skin has become extremely patchy with random white patches all over her forehead specially. She hides the tube of cream and says she wasn’t putting anything on her baby when I’ve confronted her about it. She dumps the baby on everyone in the office and she will disappear for 2+ hours straight without checking up or asking if anyone can watch her. She does a bunch of other things I find really weird… both her and her husband make good money but she won’t get a daycare or a nanny, she would rather bring her to work..She will keep her baby in clothes that do not fit and are very dirty despite us buying this little girl clothing but we never see her in them. In my culture it’s frowned upon to contact the authorities about “private” matters. Sorry if I don’t make much sense English is my second language!

Respect Superboy-Prime

I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you to death!!!
♫Arcade
Clark Kent was seemingly an ordinary teen on an Earth exactly like ours, with one key difference. Unknown to him, just like the character he was named for and read about in comics, Clark was the last survivor of Krypton. During the first multiversal crisis, Clark's powers finally manifested, with him choosing the name Superboy. Unfortunately Clark's Earth was destroyed not long after, though he was able to help defeat the villain behind its destruction, the Anti-Monitor. After the final battle of the crisis, he and the Golden Age Superman and Lois Lane awaited death, only to be transported to a supposed paradise by Alexander Luthor. However, their new heaven eventually turned into its own kind of hell, as Alex and Clark endlessly rewatched their past and the growing turmoil of the new DC universe. Eventually escaping their dimension, Clark and Alex began a plan to remake the multiverse, which would result in failure and countless deaths. While Alex would be killed however, Prime would return time and time again to threaten the multiverse, until he was eventually able to break his cycle by sacrificing himself to help defeat the Batman Who Laughs.

I’m trying. Laurie was right. I have to try. Even if I don’t have powers. Even if I’m not...
Oh.
Well. Maybe the story isn’t over. I guess they never are. But maybe you should go outside for a walk, too.

10 Hidden Details About Talos I - Prey (2017)

Talos I is filled to the brim with all sorts of secrets and details that often go unnoticed when playing through the game for the very first time. However, these secrets really give more character to the game and introduce powerful gameplay alternatives. These are some of the best-kept secrets of Talos I.

The Red Alarm Bells Are Secret Safe Spots

Early into the game, you might not pay much attention to small details all around you, but everything can actually be interacted with to a degree. Yes, even those big red alarm bells that you find as early as in Talos I Lobby when you first exit the Neuromod Division.
These alarm bells, when hit a few times with a wrench, will actually open up and reveal secret stashes. There’s one to be found near the bathrooms of the Talos I lobby and one inside the museum exhibition room. Later on, they’ll be tied to a Talos I Smuggling Ring side quest.

The Derelict Shuttle

Talos I is huge on the inside, but it’s also massive from the outside. There’s so much to discover just by floating around in space, including additional Typhons, hull breaches with dead bodies and valuable loot, as well as an entire derelict shuttle located not too far off from the main station.
The shuttle can be accessed early on, though it’s a difficult feat. It’s also tied to a quest which begins when you first entire the lounge for pilots in the shuttle bay inside Talos I. But, since Prey is somewhat of an open-world environment, you can get there much earlier if you so please.

Calvino’s Secret Neuromods

Following the main quest, you’ll very soon find yourself in the Hardware Labs and more specifically in Doctor Calvino’s offices, where you need to repair the Looking Glass servers. There’s much more than that in his office, however, so make sure to look around and find his coffee tumbler. It’s usually next to the the stairs leading to his office.
Place the tumbler on a small scale on the other side of the room and a secret stash will open up, rewarding you with additional Neuromods. Little puzzles and secrets like this one are in abundance in Talos I, so keep your eyes peeled.

Morgan’s Code In The Looking Glass Video

As soon as you exit the simulation, you’ll come across a safe. A code was once scribbled on the whiteboard located in the same room, but is now missing. Luckily, once you get to Morgan’s offices in Talos I Lobby, you can watch a video recorded by Morgan in the Looking Glass.
Look carefully, as on the left side the very same whiteboard will be located. Only this time, the code hasn’t been smudged away. Now is a good time to return back to that safe and grab the goodies inside.

A Poltergeist Will Flush Morgan

If you choose to enhance Morgan with Psionic aptitudes, you can actually learn how to morph into objects just like a Mimic. You can have as much fun with this as you want, and there’s even a small easter egg that was added into the game code discovered by a dedicated Redditor, with a fun little interaction.
While entering Psychotronics, if you turn yourself into a toilet paper roll with your Mimic abilities and conveniently plop yourself down into one of the toilet bowls, a Poltergeist will appear and actually flush the toilet you’re in. An odd yet hilarious little detail that Arkane gifted players with.

The Huntress Boltcaster Can Be Used To Open Doors

When you first discover the Huntress Boltcaster, you might wonder what in the world this toy gun can be used for. Well, for a variety of things. The best way is actually to grant you access to locations that would otherwise be near impossible to reach.
One great example is accessing the Morgue in Psychotronics. While the door to the Morgue apparently does open once an hour when an operator flies through, you could also just shoot at the door button with the Boltcaster through the broken window. This works for countless other similar puzzles as well.

Recycler Charges Can Be Used To Get Rid Of Obstacles

Speaking of puzzles and obstacles, if you choose to not put all your eggs (Neuromods) in the Leverage basket, Morgan will sometimes be faced with blocked-off entrances with heavy obstacles they might struggle lifting.
Luckily, there’s always an alternative route in Prey, and every puzzle has multiple solutions. Using Recycler Charges to clear out heavy obstacles is one fantastic option if you’ve chosen to neglect your Leverage skill.

A Greater Mimic Can Turn Into Morgan Yu

In Psychotronics, there’s a room on the upper floor labs where a Greater Mimic is imprisoned with various objects it can mimic. The default objects include Morgan’s family photo and a microscope, but there’s also a way to make it mimic Morgan themself.
If you click the button to release the mimic fast enough and then run around and crawl into the back of one of the boxes where the items the Mimic will react to are located, the Mimic will actually transform into a super creepy T-posing human doll and just stand there. The Conformist Owl on YouTube illustrates this the best in their clip.

You Can Escape Morgan’s Apartment In Several Ways

Morgan’s apartment is easily one of the most iconic areas in the game. This fake apartment is where the player begins the game, believing they’re simply going about their normal daily life. However, as it turns out, things are not quite as they seem and Morgan needs to break out of the lie, a mission that might be hard to figure out at first.
Many players eventually break the glass to Morgan’s balcony to get out, but there are actually other paths. In the hallway outside of Morgan’s apartment, you can also break the glass and escape through the aquarium. The ceiling of the apartment can also be broken to reveal it’s all just a fake room.

The Helicopter Blades Can Kill You

More on the beginning of the game, that helicopter ride with the reassuring and catchy music will put you at ease initially, but death can come at you as early as this part in the game if you’re not careful enough. There’s also a secret achievement for this.
If you get close enough to the helicopter blades, they will kill you instantly. It’s definitely not recommended, but if you’re looking to get all the cool achievements in the game, it’s still worth it.

2023.03.30 15:59 -bootysweat Noobie Question About Building A Choose Your Own Adventure Game

Hello Community!
I have a super noobie question but I am super new to Twine and coding in general, and am having trouble figuring out how to go about what I want to do. I am using Twine 2, and Sugarcube 2.36.1
I am trying to make a small little choose your own adventure game based on a short story/D&D campaign I made. Similar to those classic little 80's catalogs. Best way I can describe my problem is to give an example:
The player has an option to talk to an innkeeper, or wait until their contact arrives. If they wait for the contact, they get given a quest, and go on it. If they wind up speaking to the innkeeper, that innkeeper will let them know about a missing item, and then the contact narrative will play out as it would have normally. When that player is on their quest, IF they spoke to the innkeeper, they will know what to do with a found item, and will have an option to bring it back to the innkeeper. There that will reveal some other clue, and may in fact change something later on in the game.
So how could I code that? Would speaking to the innkeeper be an array? A variable? Can my game remember the choices of players and in turn, offer different objectives (or links I guess?)?
I cannot figure out the wording of my question or the definitions of these for the life of me and would love some assistance, as I am having trouble explaining myself. I hope this made some sense, and thank you so much to any and all responses.
