2023.03.31 18:44 slugtrooper Force apps to show dual pane landscape mode even in portrait on inner screen?
Certain apps, like Gmail or YouTube music will show two columns of info when open and in landscape mode, like gmail will show an email on the right and a list of your mailbox messages of the peft. When they are in portrait it's just a bigger version of the app, not always a good use of real estate.
Can I force an app to use it's landscape big screen mode even in portrait? There's no reason the same info couldn't fit into that orientation

2023.03.31 18:22 Additional_Brain_205 Enterprise Value of Real Estate Wholesaling: ???
I own a house wholesaling business, we currently have 9 employees members (3 domestic, 6 International) and I'm looking to put a COO in place to oversee the day-to-day operations so that I can step into the owner role.
Our marketing consists of direct mail, cold calling, email, SMS, and email drip campaigns for acquisition. Our deposition side consists of our in-house team doing due diligence and creating marketing material which we then partner with local real estate agents to sell the deals. Our average deal is $7,688 with a net profit of $6,312 per deal. Net margins of 82%. Average monthly revenue ranges between 150-180k at the moment with a monthly growth rate of averages about 3-5% per month this is a high growth rate since we are still relatively small this will most likely be too slow as we increase in size and operational drag. We have no debt and about mid 6 figure in cash reserves. The company is 2.5 years old at the moment.
I feel confident with the systems and structure that with a solid COO to oversee the company we can continue to scale without me there.
I'm wondering about positioning the company for a sale in the future once I can prove a track record that it is no longer a founder-driven company and that it can also be self-sustaining.
What could I sell this business for if sold to private equity, would they even be interested, how should I best position the company for a sale?
Thanks for your help!

2023.03.31 18:15 Ok_Compote_5136 Alberta/Canada recommendations for brokerages
Hey everyone,
I'm currently nearing the end of my residential real estate course and I'm looking for some advice on which brokerage to join as a newbie. I know the field is saturated, but I'm willing to put in the work and be patient.
Additionally, I'm curious to know if there are any tips or tricks that would help me stand out from other real estate agents. I want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to be successful in this competitive industry.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice you can offer!

2023.03.31 18:13 Mr_rodger_man California Nurses?
Hi everyone. For all of those nurses who live/work in California, I have a few questions for you.
Iive in a small rural town in Connecticut and I am looking to move to a city. I've always enjoyed the city life and being in a rural area, it's hard to meet new people, date and make new friends. I guess I just feel kind of stuck and need a change.
California cities stand out in particular to me. The climate is great (no cold snowy winters and summers with oppressive humidity for days on end). The mindset and vibe of the people in the cities there seemed to match my personality and just visiting there I saw a difference at the relative ease of meeting diverse groups of people.
I possibly have a chance to go work out there in San Diego but I hear a lot of things about California (both positive and negative) so there's some questions/concerns I have first.
1) How happy are nurses that live/work in California and how is their quality of life there? Yes, it's pretty well known that nurses in California have great unions, good patient reatios and the highest pay of anywhere; not saying it's perfect because nowhere is perfect but is it really as good as it's made out to be? I'm always skeptical when I hear people talking about how great something is, like what's the catch? Lol.
2) I know people always say how great the pay is and that it's so much higher in California than other states (except for maybe the Pacific Northwest) but when you adjust for the ridiculously high cost of living on the West Coast, is it really all that great? Does your pay get you any further than it does in other states? Or after taking into account the cost of living, are most nurses (those that are single and don't have a spouse's income) broke and living paycheck to paycheck despite the high pay?
3) Aside from the cost of everything else, I do know that in regards to housing (buying not renting) that real estate is out of reach for most single nurses (or most single people period) in the majority of the state; even a small 2 bedroom condo in a not so good area is over $750k. The idea of living in a place where I'll have to indefinitely rent and never have the possibility of the American dream of homeownership makes me a little anxious/ uncomfortable.
So I guess my biggest concern is pay/cost of living. Are most nurses out in California trying to flee and move to other states so that way they can finally have the chance to buy land/purchase a house? Or are nurses there ok with renting for the foreseeable future? I keep hearing how so many people in general are trying to leave the state due to corrupted politics and are fleeing to lower cost places like Arizona and Texas.
Is it frowned upon to still be renting/ need roommates by a certain age over there? (Where I am it is). And do you think in the future that homeownership will ever be within reach for nurses out there?

2023.03.31 18:10 ost_sage Quick (relatively) guide how to set up Steam Deck as a tablet manga reader.
Hello y'all!
Recently, one Twitter user made me aware that Steam Deck could be used for reading mangas (Not the brightest discovery, but I was shocked since I never thought about that xD)! If you do own any big touchscreen device, you could 100% skip it, because as we know it, SD don't have biggest and greatest screens on this planet. But in my case, it is the only big enough unit that I own. So here is my method and workarounds to create the simplest environment to just sit and read.
We will be working only on Desktop mode, if you opened it at least once you're qualified enough for every of those steps. If you didn't, you will be once you try it!
Steam Button > Power > Switch to Desktop In the Discover "app store" on the task bar, you need to search for Komikku. It's beautiful and smooth GTK app, it supports multiple sources from the web and local ones. From my limited research, it comes as the current best Linux comic/manga client available. But it comes with one big handicap. It cannot rotate the image. On the default screen rotation, you can only read in vertical mode, so it's far from comfortable experience. The developer doesn't feel like having this option is necessary, so here we are, forced to go into system options and rotate the screen manually, so we can use the whole screen real estate and resolution.
UNLESS!
Now we will set up custom shortcuts (KDE Plasma doesn't come with keyboard shortcuts to rotate the screen like Windows has) and assign them to SD back buttons.
!!! Remember that SD screen is rotated by default! Its “normal” mode is being a horizontal display appearing to be rotated to the right. When we type in Terminal >normal< we mean rotated irl, then >right< would mean “normal” to us, the users. Try to not get confused! !!!
Open System Settings. Click Shortcuts (they are almost at the top, but you can search for them), and then Custom Shortcuts.
In the second box from the left (under the list of some build in actions [not sure, don't care]) click Edit and then New > Global Shortcut > Command/URL
Then we're in the third box. We can skip Comment section, it's just for us if we want to type something to remember, better just name shortcut appropriately. In the Trigger section, we need to type our shortcut. In my configuration, I decided to stick with the Windows convention, but it could be hard to hold 3 keys simultaneously without a physical keyboard connected, so you do you. So, for example, you could use Ctrl+Alt+Down(arrow)
As an Action type xrandr --output eDP --rotate right
This ^ will rotate the display to the normal vertical position
Then add a second shortcut the same way but use a different keys combination, for example, Ctrl+Alt+Right(arrow), and as an Action set xrandr --output eDP --rotate normal
This ^ will rotate the display to the right (horizontal)
And for the final piece, we will use totally not broken Steam Controller Desktop Configuration!
Open Steam still in Desktop mode, then open Settings, Controller tab and click into DESKTOP CONFIGURATION button. As at the time of writing this post, this will open the old school Big Picture tab. Using this Reddit post as a reference, all you need to do is assign those new made shortcuts to the back buttons, clicking the appropriate boxes. BUT remember to click TOGGLE MULTI-BUTTON ON under virtual keyboard representation. FUN FACT, this will only show up while using a real mouse, or taping the screen with your fingers. Touchpads won't work in this window xD
In my case Ctrl+Alt+Down(arrow) went into L4 button - this is resetting screen to the vertical position.
Ctrl+Alt+Right(arrow) went into L5 button - this is rotating the screen to the horizontal, comic/manga reading position.
That is all, happy reading!
I will update this post when one of those happen:
- Komikku dev will add view rotation to the reading options, we wouldn't be here because of that, for better and for worse. Nonetheless, I want to say thank you, for creating and maintain this awesome app!
- KDE will add their own shortcuts to rotate the screen.
- Valve will fix/replace this broken mess of a Desktop mode configuration.
Sorry for a weird grammar here and there, I'm not a native English speaker and wanted to feed this text to GPT-3, so it would retouch some bugs, but got lazy so... ya know!
