2023.03.30 17:26 Kim_Jong-seo Korean existential anxiety:

https://preview.redd.it/iks6nd3gxypa1.gif?format=mp4&v=enabled&s=8dbf730118fe2ebc0a295b3834e5178741f34ecf
Please don't ask me to justify why I play exclusively Korean, but it's becoming a very tepid existence. +1 range to Turtle Ships is welcome and all but... really? Nothing at all for the worst open map civ in the game? Spirit of the Law's standout worst civ of 2023 and you've got 1 buff for WATER!? I legit got super excited when I initially seen the update chatter because Koreans feel really lost and unimportant for most of DE, the "revamp" was less than successful and here we are revising every mid civ in the game, balancing the meta etc but absolutely no love for the oldest goat of them all. Disappointed to say the least.
As to *how* to fix us... that's a bit more tricky. The Wagon is almost a burden as this stage as it still manages to be a kinda OP unit hiding in a very underpowered civ. Buffing it won't solve the problem (not that it really needed nerfed last time considering how meh the wood discount is). I don't really feel qualified to say what the civ lacks without changing it up entirely, but personally I feel extremely immobile at all times. Straight off we're the worst Cav civ in the game, the only reason we even have or need a stable is to justify the existence of the wagons I guess?? No Bloodlines, no Plate Barding, no Partheon for CA even. The Wagons are really quite slow, the animation is even slower, they don't spread out well to divide up they're massive power potential. It's just a tanky CA lacking all the flair and upside of an actual CA... I know people love to just say "Play archers into arbs ++" but why would I play a bog standard mediocre archer civ with no actual edge other than a power boost at the start of an age, when I could just play a decent archer civ?
Over to the rax and it's not great, no amount of Halbs or Champs can avoid the lack of Blast Furnace. Gambesons surely isn't gonna fix it, it's staggering when you think about how impotent we are melee wise. Pure infantry with no bite and no edge, we lack Siege ram as a pushing mechanism, Heavy Scorpion as well. The SO's are nice but a *huge* investment to make them special, needing the UT, Siege Engineers and the 2 SW upgrades. With the low elo meta being fairly treb/BBC focussed, they don't work nearly as well as in higher elo either.
Water we're certainly on no ones "Best of" list even being labelled a "Naval" civ. No demo's make for a huge easy counter spamming them back, and the Turtle Ships and really quite over rated on open water. The +1 range feels like a fix not a buff. I don't get how we qualify as a naval civ beyond lore wise and directly due to the Turtle Ship. We have everything else in the dock but no *actual* advantage over anyone else.
Monastery is bang average as well. No Illumination, Redemption, Atonement or Heresy, basically just Block Printing.
The civ bonuses in general are just weird. I don't know what the identity is any more. We're the worst of the elected "tower" civs, we're mediocre on water while being labelled as "Naval", and the only real "Defensive" aspect I see is that lack of mobility making me sit around and defend more often!!
- Villager LOS +3: Situationally useful, but ultimately useless.
-Stone miners +20%, again nice but, so?? Oh wow I can have nominal extra amount of stone with the same vills, or take 1 vill off and actually take longer to get a castle worth. Pointless.
-Tower upgrades free inc Bombard. Situationally nice again, but Towering isn't a meta the dev's and most people were happy with and they made sure it changed, they just didn't bother changing us too.
-Archer armor upgrades free. Zzzz again maybe you'll find it useful briefly here and there but it's not winning or losing any games.
-Military units (exc Siege) -20% wood. Sounds great, ultimately isn't. Early game vast majority of wood is for buildings, in practice it might allow you to squeeze out an extra 1-2 units every several minutes, making once again, no appreciable difference. Beyond this and a couple of free upgrades that aren't priorities anyway, this is it for our eco. We lack the final farm upgrade making late game eco a real drag. Nothing pops, nothing makes me excited, there's never an upside.
Team: Mangonel-line -1 minimum range. Helps me kill my own units more often.
I'm just lost as a committed Korean, loyal to a fault and really, really disappointed at the devs oversight. Any tips for how to play this strange, underwhelming civ with a bit of flair and identity are most welcome. It feels like I'm going out in ranked relying purely on my own wits, cunning and determination to get every win. Rant over.

2023.03.30 17:25 Worried-Wishbone-724 Beginner, seeking advice on all areas

Full disclosure: I’m non-binary and have been on testosterone for over 2 years now. Before T I was interested in singing but had a lot of vocal dysphoria. Now that my voice matches how I sound in my head, I’d like to practice and refine my skills. I know HRT can make singing tricky until my voice settles but I have way less cracks than I used to. I would appreciate an insight or tips on what to practice or improve. Thanks!

2023.03.30 17:24 lu_kak Using ARV for multiple choice tests is surprisingly easy

Recently, I used associative remote viewing (ARV) to help me with my maths test. It was a last ditch effort in order to save my grades since I hadn't studied at all. It was also an experiment for myself to see ARV's potential for practical applications.
Here's how it worked:
[I used this very useful website](https://zvarik.cz/en/arv-remote-viewing-online-tool-randomizer) .It has a built in ARV generator and that's great because it means you don't need 2 people.
In the prompt section, I asked:
"What will be the correct answer to question 1 in my maths test which takes place on the 23rd of march, 2023?" I didn't bother trying to get too specific with the prompt, as I believe it's more about the intention.
Then, I listed my potential answers in the answer section.
A
B
C
D
E
The generator then corresponds each answer to an image and generates me a target ID. I view the target using the ID. Whichever of the 5 images I end up viewing is the answer to my question (I can click the image and it shows me the corresponding letter).
I repeated the process with question 2, then 3 and so on.
The results:
I got my mark back today, it was 8/10. Now that's pretty incredible considering I had like no clue about any of the maths on that paper. It was literally all gibberish to me.
Well, so what? I could've just guessed them all correctly. Not really.
There's a 1 in 5 chance that I guess the answer right for each question. There are 10 questions. Using some maths that I actually know this time, that gives me roughly a 1 in 13,000 chance of guessing 8/10 of them right.
It was quite a short test and I don't think I'd be too keen on viewing like 30 different targets for a bigger one. Obviously, this method only works for multiple choice.
And of course, don't take my word for it, try it yourself!

2023.03.30 17:24 Timekeepsonslippin Wondering what the consensus is about how valuable crosshairs are in games like this. Could pros play just as well without one when using weapons with travel time?

I can't really find any substantial information regarding this question but I had a multi-hour debate with some people who seem to think that professional-level players of many FPS games don't need crosshairs at all. That not having one would not impact on their ability to compete against other professionals who are using a crosshair. Basically the results of a tournament of the highest tier of players would not be impacted by the lack of crosshairs being used by the players of any team, against teams that are using crosshairs.
They admitted that in the case of games with hitscan weapons it would matter for those specific weapons, but for projectile weapons that have travel time and arc (such as some weapons in Quake) it doesn't matter pretty much at all in their opinion, and it just takes practice to get to that point where you're used to not playing with a crosshair well enough. I think Tribes: Ascend was one of the games they were showing me clips of as an example to try to explain their opinion to me. The other was some of Team Fortress 2's weapons.
Personally I feel like having that visual frame of reference a crosshair provides, even if it's only in your peripheral vision will always help with trying to predict the trajectory of whatever you're firing off with greater accuracy. And the impact of not having a crosshair is enough that you'd likely miss even if barely, in situations that involve difficult shots, significantly more often than you would with a crosshair.
There might be exceptions with certain weapons in certain games that give you some kind of indication of where the exact center of the screen is, instead of relying on a general sense of that center, that you can obtain with just your eyes. And of course some weapons don't need as much accuracy within a certain range.
In the end it felt to me like there's no way to really know the truth on this matter without doing some actual scientific testing to gather statistical data, preferably with pro players, to determine if their accuracy is affected in various circumstances significantly by the lack of a crosshair. My instinct is that it will always make a significant difference in most games using most weapons that aren't hitscan (so Counter-Strike guns wouldn't count for example, because you're quite reliant on the crosshair in such cases).
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think there's probably a wide variety of situations where people make clutch shots that they would miss if they didn't have a crosshair to aid them. Not a big deal, just something I'm curious about the truth of now.

2023.03.30 17:23 fogsucker mortgage offer but want to apply for another one at the same time?

We are FTBs and have a mortgage offer (for a 5% deposit) at an interest rate of around 5% (fixed for 5 years). This was secured through the broker L&C. We're waiting for the conveyancing process, and probably still have another 2 - 3 months to go until completion.
Since getting that offer I've seen increasingly more mortgage products available for 95%LTV with a marginally smaller interest rate (about 0.1% less, bringing interest rate just below 5%).
At the time of applying for the mortage with the L&C broker, they said that some mortgage providers can be picky about the fact that our flat is above a retail unit, so it was "safer" to apply for the one that we have a current offer for, since they are "less picky".
I want to test that theory by applying directly to one of those lower rate mortgage providers, to see if it gets accepted. In which case I will ditch the L&C. Are there any problems with doing that? I assume it's fine to apply for another mortgage direct whilst you have an offer from an existing one?

2023.03.30 17:23 ddtt27 Positive pregnancy test but curious symptoms and timing.

For context, I stopped taking low dose HBC the end of Nov '22 after being on it for almost a decade. I wanted to give my body some time to adjust and see what my cycles were like before actively trying to conceive. I had my first period off HBC end of Dec (brown spotting from Dec 29th-Dec 31st, red blood Jan 1st-4th). I had cramps that were a little more painful than when on HBC, but nothing too severe. Prior to being on HBC I had very long, painful periods, so moderate cramping and a shorter period were welcome. Come Jan 29th I had brown spotting again, red blood Jan 30th-Feb 3rd. Same moderate cramps. My period was never this consistent pre-HBC so I wasn't sure if the first few months were a fluke.
After Feb 3rd my husband and I started to try to get pregnant. The end of Feburary came and went, no period. Still no period so I tested March 9th, negative. the next day I had brown spotting, similar to the start of my last two periods, so I assumed it would come soon. From March 10th-14th I had brown spotting, nothing too heavy, but the dark blood never came. I had a consistent headache for a few days around that time, but just chalked all of it up to my hormones trying to balance out finally. Not long after I started getting random cramping, which has been fairly consistent now for about 2 weeks, fatigue, and mood swings. I just assumed it was more of my body finding a balance of hormones, but took a test this morning out of curiosity. Sure enough it came back positive!
My biggest thing is I cannot figure out if the brown spotting March 10th-14th was my period or something else? Having a hard time using a due date calculator as a result (although I'm sure those probably aren't really accurate). I'm also concerned about the cramping. Most of the time it's a dull, consistent pain, but there have been a few times they were as bad as my worst period cramps. I haven't had any spotting, but wanted to know if it was normal?

2023.03.30 17:22 thegoalie Best actions to set up a future job search?

Hi all! I'm a VP of Marketing and my career has been heavily performance marketing (e.g. running Google/FB/Display ads, designing landing pages, SEO, a/b testing, running MMM regressions, etc.).
My industries have been primarily huge, well-known entertainment brands.
I'm currently at a PE-backed company executing a "turn around". Once the company is sold I'll look to move on, and that time frame is about another 2 years.
What can I do to put myself in a great position to find another VP or SVP role in two years? Create posts/engage on LinkedIn? Periodically touch base with people in my network?
My thoughts are that I should concentrate on networking, but I'm not sure how to intentionally network. It's always been a weakness of mine but I want to turn my network into a strength over the next two years.
Any other activities I should focus on?

2023.03.30 17:21 Square_Bookkeeper_24 In order to be truly vegan, you'll need to move to outer space

Now humor me, this will sound ridiculous at first but I'm gonna get to my point. Many vegans have this innate idea that they're not harming animals in the process of what they do. Or they follow the standard vegan morals of "Veganism is a moral position that opposes exploiting and otherwise harming nonhuman animals. This includes what we do directly, such as hunting or fishing. It also includes what we support as consumers, which affects many more animals."
They actually often indirectly kill animals, they just 1. Refuse to accept that because they feel a need to be right due to underlying control issues and insecurity and 2. Deny it because it doesn't fit in with their cult-like identity.
Many vegans knowingly contribute to killing animals daily. Oftentimes they just feel a need to be right, and can't be open to the idea that maybe they're wrong sometimes. A healthy vegan approaches things with curiosity and would hear this and actually ask about it
Like to be vegan, is to do everything we can not harm nonhuman animals right? Do you use electricity? Does that electricity come from power lines or large wind turbines in rural areas? If so, the electric shock or the sweeping turbine easily takes out multiple birds on a regular basis. So by this logic, in order to be truly vegan, you need to switch to a source of electricity that isn't even coming from power lines. If you use an energy company on power lines, you're supporting a company that can cause animal suffering.
Also, in the US alone, over 1 million animals are killed by cars daily. So to be ethically vegan, you need to stop driving. Also using gas, gas comes from oil rigs in the gulf which occasionally have huge spills killing millions or marine animals. To be vegan, you need to stop using gas from gas stations. If you drive a car and get gas, you support companies that may cause animal suffering.
Do you live in a house or a high rise? Well surely birds can fly right into that and break their necks. So in order to stop the unnecessary pain and suffering of those animals...looks like you're gonna be living underground. If you live in a building, you support a company that can cause animal suffering.
And that underground bunker? Well in order to dig underground you have to risk potentially killing burrowing species such as moles, and various insects and taking a piece of their habitat. If you build a bunker, you probably will be supporting a company that causes indirect animal suffering.
So what about just living in the wilderness? Well, the fire you create will surely attract insects due to the glow and probably cause them to get burned up, so that's out. Also simply walking on the ground will put pressure on the soil squishing many insects. So that's also out.
So the moral of the story...if you wanna be truly vegan and completely avoid unnecessary animal suffering, move to the moon, or learn to levitate.
Oh wait, that rocket ship? Probably comes from a company that indirectly supports animal suffering.
The main lesson here is that if you go back to veganism, you're making your world so much smaller and often not even doing the good that you think you're doing. You have to prioritize your own mental and physical health, and if you want to make choices to support or not support certain practices, that's totally fine and you can do that, but also understand that in order to live on earth, it is virtually impossible to live by that vegan moral 100%.

2023.03.30 17:20 OrvilleSpencer34 Reduced ApoB from 129 to 110 by going from 38 to 12 grams of daily SFA. Need Advice.

Reduced ApoB from 129 to 110 by going from 38 to 12 grams of daily SFA. Need Advice.
I am a 27-year old male.
Attached is my Cardio IQ test from 7 months ago. I was on the following diet, about 38 grams of saturated fat per day according to the nutrition labels:
Breakfast: one whole avocado. Three eggs fried in butter. 1 cup of whole fat Greek yogurt, mixed with a serving of grounded flax seeds and berries. 1 serving/1 oz/1 handful each of pistachios, peanuts, walnuts and pumpkin seeds. So about 4 servings of nuts in total.
Lunch: Either a 3-4 oz salmon or two chicken legs, alternating every day. Steamed vegetables with 2-3 spoons of olive oil. 1 serving of pistachios.
https://preview.redd.it/lyehxdnr2wqa1.png?width=1446&format=png&auto=webp&s=a6c935b6441a5e5625395368d4248f211c9ce8a9
After I got these results, I cut from 38 to 12 grams of saturated fat per day (cutting out all dairy fat, nuts and olive oil), represented by the following diet:
Breakfast: one whole avocado. 1 cup of non-fat Greek yogurt, mixed with a serving of grounded flax seeds and berries. Three hard boiled eggs.
Lunch: either chicken breast or 3-4 oz salmon, alternating every day. Steamed vegetables.
For both the 38- and 12-gram diets, I still allowed myself to dine out once a week, usually Greek or Lebanese food. However, I abstained from even this indulgence for three weeks leading up to my follow-up lipid panel, so my diet was quite clean, yet my results were not as great as I expected:
ApoB 110 mg/dL
LDL Cholesterol Calculated 145 mg/dL
VLDL Calculated 9 mg/dL
Triglycerides 56 mg/dL
HDL 90 mg/dL
Total Cholesterol 244 mg/dL
Chol/HDL Ratio 2.7
So, what am I supposed to do now? By Attia's standards my ApoB is still far too high. Am I supposed to cut out the rest of the fat in my diet, the avocado, eggs and salmon? At the end of his interview with Lewis Howes, Peter named those three among his top four foods for longevity. How am I supposed to lower ApoB while maintaining good nutrition? I enjoy eating those foods and would rather not replace them with stuff like oatmeal. I also hesitate to replace avocado/eggs/salmon with legumes and plant protein based on Peter's interview with Don Laymon, as well as because I've had a kidney stone before and need to minimize oxalate.
Is it time to consider statins? My cardiologist recommended a statin after my first Cardio IQ panel, but I insisted on first trying to resolve the issue through dietary measures.
The thing that bugs me: For my follow-up test I was eating 1/3 the amount of saturated fat as I was for my first test – wouldn't we have expected a much greater drop in ApoB? Also, four days before the follow-up panel, I did heavy lifting and some running, and I've read that one shouldn't exercise too vigorously before a lipid panel. Is it possible that my lifting session (5x5 heavy squats and deadlifts) four days before my test inflated my lipid numbers?
edit: some family history: no family history of heart disease. Maternal grandmother is on statins, maternal grandpa died of smoking/lung cancer. Paternal grandfather died from Alzheimers, paternal aunt has dementia, paternal uncle died from type 2 diabetes. However maternal grandma and other extended family made it to their mid-nineties.

2023.03.30 17:20 Mandalore_15 Advice on choosing first Audio Interface - NI Komplete Audio 6 vs UAD Volt 4/476

Hi everyone, I know questions like this probably get repetitive around here but after doing significant research I'm really stuck choosing between these models for my first audio interface and would appreciate any advice from those with more experience.
Use-case
My use-cases for the interface will likely be as follows:
  1. Primarily, playing guitar through my tube amp using headphones to keep it quiet (I have kids and, frankly, some anxiety about being heard practicing by my family and neighbours).
  2. Recording guitar, both DI and mic'd, hopefully.
  3. Recording a drum machine and using a midi keyboard for synth plugins etc.
  4. Recording vocals, perhaps using effects in a loop on the interface (direct ins-and-outs?).
Use case 1 is definitely primary but I want to buy an interface that can grow with me as I start going down the list, rather than buying a cheaper, less-well-featured interface now and having to upgrade later. As such I've definitely settled on the 4 in/4 out with MIDI form factor.
After loads of research I narrowed it down to the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 and the Universal Audio Volt 4 or 476. Available prices of these are:
Preamps
A lot of reviews say the Komplete Audio 6's preamps on the mic/instrument ins are a bit weak and need to be turned most of the way up. Has anyone experienced this? Can anyone speak for the Volt's gain range? Does it even matter?
Also, any comments on the sound quality of each? Is the Volt's "vintage mode" worth the price of admission?
Headphone amp
How good are the amps on these models, sound-wise and volume-wise (max impedance headphones I would use are probably 62 ohms).
Input/Output metering
The Komplete Audio 6 and Volt 476 have segmented LED meters for inputs and outputs, whereas the Volt 4 only has 2 LEDs (green and red if you overshoot). How useful do you find more granular metering?
Control Layout
The Komplete Audio 6 and Volt 476 have some controls on the top of the chassis rather than the front. Does anyone find this much easier to use?
SPDIF in/out and triggering synths
The Komplete Audio 6 has SPDIFs - are these worth having? Also the sales copy says that its analogue ins/outs can be used to trigger synths, but some people say the voltage isn't high enough for this, so wondering if anyone can vouch for this at all? I'm pretty sure neither of the Volts can do this, but perhaps someone could confirm!
76 Compressor
A lot of people seem to think the analogue compressor on the Volt 476 is noisy and unusable. Also it seems like a lot of people think just using a plugin to compress after recording achieves a better result, but I'm wondering if anyone here would defend the 76?
Bundled Software
Everything comes with Ableton Lite now, but the software offerings of each are otherwise very different. Has anyone got any experience with them, or can say what you think would be more useful for the use cases I listed? The Native Instruments' stuff looks more expansive, but also more overwhelming!

Well, that is a lot to get into... but if you have thoughts on just one of these categories I'd love to hear your input. Hopefully it might clear up some points of decision-making for others as well. Many thanks for your help everyone!

2023.03.30 17:20 code_hunter_cc net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET when large file takes longer than a minute

Apache
I have a multipart file upload in a form with a php backend. I've set max_execution_time and max_input_time in php.ini to 180 and confirmed on the file upload that these values are set and set TimeOut 180 in Apache. I've also set
RewriteRule .* - [E=noabort:1]RewriteRule .* - [E=noconntimeout:1] When I upload a 250MB file on a fast connection it works fine. When I'm on a slower connection or a network link conditioner to artificially slow it down, the same file times out and on Chrome gives me net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET after 1 minute (and 5 seconds) reliably. I've also tried other browsers with the same outcome, just different error messages.
There is no indication to an error in any log and I've tried both on http and https.
What would cause the upload connection to be reset after 1 minute?
EDIT
I've now also tried to have a simple upload form that bypasses any framework I'm using, still timeouts at 1 minute.
I've also just made a sleep script that timeouts after 2 and a half minutes, and that works, page takes around 2.5 minutes to load so I can't see how it's browser or header related.
I've also used a server with more RAM to ensure it's not related to that. I've tested on 3 different servers with different specs but all from the same CentOS 7 base.
I've now also upgraded to PHP 7.2 and updated the relevant fields again with no change in the problem.
EDIT 2The tech stack for this isolated instance is
Everything else in my tech stack has been removed from this test area to try and isolate the problem. EFS is on the system but in my most isolated test it's just using EBS.
EDIT 3Here some logs from the chrome network debugger:

2023.03.30 17:19 5ICK03 Rad140 vs S23

Hey folks, what’s going on? I just got off a really great Ostarine cycle that help me cut from 22.5% bf at 217lbs to 207 at 13 1/2%. During that time I added an inch to my arms and chest and lost 4-5 inches off my waist.
The ostarine suppressed my test from 670s to 170s. So I qualify for TRT and have hopped on in lieu of a PCT. 200mg a week of test cyp, 250mcg of gonadarelin twice weekly and 1mg of anastrazol.
Right now I’m in the middle of a maintenance phase before doing another cut to get around 10% bf. Unfortunately I am recuperating from gyno surgery that resulted from crazy prolactin levels after a superdrol cycle 10 years ago.
Once I’ve recuperated and finished my cut to get down to 10% I’m going to do a bulking cycle.
I’d like to hear from anyone who has used S23 and/or Rad140. How they compare? What your preference was? What sort of results did you see (considering you’re not an idiot and had your diet/training locked in.)
Appreciate your thoughts and help fellas.

2023.03.30 17:19 cesmode84 Bar Top - Water based finish and fixing it

To make a long story short: Against my better judgement, the wife wanted to use a water based finish on top of our stain for our new par top (no smell, quicker drying, does not amber over time). After 6 coats and letting it cure, test spots of jack daniels on the finish for 5-10 minutes left white spots (presumably moisture under the finish). I called the manufacturer, Minwax, and he said try their outdoor spar urethane all weather water finish. I did, 4x coats. First test of JD wiped the finish right up.
Again, against my better judgement. I wanted oil based or epoxy, but here we are. Some woodworking folks said sanding it down at this point to bare wood would be a massive undertaking considering how many coats I have on it. And the wife, again, is against that.
My contractor that built the bar said try shellac. I did on a test strip with better results but it still left a white mark.
The options Im considering.
  1. Glass/Tempered Glass/Laminate glass on top of our current bar top. We like the look the stain has and the finish we applied, its just not durable at the moment. This might cost as much as the bar but it is what it is.
  2. Have someone, my contractor maybe, come in and remove the bar top and replace with formica/quartz/granite. Im nervous about this because of potential damage to the shiplap (the outside face we used to cover the frame), or damage to the frame)
So what are your thoughts? Understanding the mistakes that have been made, what would you recommend?

2023.03.30 17:18 Friedrich_der_Klein Market Manipulation Guide

Market Manipulation Guide
Have you ever wondered, what's the use of your stockpile, or the trade menu overall? Sure, you can buy some goods and get some info, but what if i told you it's actually way more powerful than that?

Price Changing

But first, we have to understand how prices work. Standing on the shoulders of giants, and by giants i mean this post, we know that prices equilibrate to base price * (1/sqrt(supply/demand)), i.e. if for example glass (base price 2.9) has supply of 200 and demand of 800, the price will rise by 0.01 every day until it reaches 5.8.
Also, when governments are buying goods by automating stockpile, it won't count into demand, and thus won't affect the price. But if automation is turned off and you buy goods manually, it will count.
Now, we can very easily abuse these 2 facts for:

Market Manipulation

That's right, it is indeed possible in this game. Let's look at how.
General requirements:
- huge amounts of tax revenue or cash in national bank
- 2000 of a certain good is enough to impact its price
First, produce a lot of the good, the more you do the more it will boost your economy. Before you do any market manipulation, wait until the price of said goods stops growing, otherwise you'll just be wasting money. Now, there are 2 ways to do it:
  1. Manual trading. Buy 2000 (the max possible) of your desired good, wait until you get your stockpile full, sell it all and repeat. However, it's quite tedious repeating this multiple times a month. But there's a better way.
  2. Navy building. If a type of ship needs the good(s) you want to raise price of, this is way better. Manual buy 2000 of the good, spam shift+click in the ship building menu, wait until price stops growing, cancel ship building, sell off goods in your stockpile (these 2 steps are important, of course you could just add more ships to queue, but that's a higher risk of game crashing) and repeat. For example, let's say you want to boost steamer and telephone price. Manual buy them, then spam dreadnoughts in all your ports, when price starts to drop cancel them and sell off steamers and telephones. Note: it might also be possible with army too, but since you can't build as much brigades as ships, it won't be as efficient

Impact

First off, depending on how much you produce and how much % of your economy are said goods, it will boost your economy, translating into more tax revenue and national bank reserves, so you can manipulate even more goods' prices. If you have a lot of factory unemployment, this will give capitalists more money to invest, and thus to lower unemployment. And if you really min-max it, you can even make some money when carefully selling your stockpile.

Example

Now let’s see how it does in practice – USA, 1923 (old save of mine, in vanilla), manipulating fuel and telephones, both of them I produce a lot of.
According to save game economy analyzer, in 1923, fuel and telephone make up around 8.8% of my GDP. About 5 years later, in early 1928, they make up 14.5% of GDP. The price of fuel and telephones has risen from 22.3 and 31.45 to 35.27 and 40.51, 158% and 181% increases respectively.
Though compared to if i wouldn't have manipulated the market (picture below), small scale market manipulation didn't have as big of an impact on the economy, but a larger, systemic one could possibly have, especially if done for a longer time period.

Conclusion

Even though it's quite expensive and tedious to make it worth it, it surely is fun af to have a level 5 factory with 3.11k profits.

2023.03.30 17:18 Piccolls Duality still bugged as hell

Basically title.
I'm trying to solo flawless every dungeon, and in these last few days I tried the abovementioned one just to test and try different builds before the real attempts, and oh boy.....
Phalanx almost one-shotting you because they still launch you at Mach-3 speed towards the walls, bells not functioning properly as they ring with a delay 2 out of 3 times, and now that I finally killed the Nightmare of Caiatl I still can't get the triumph of the solo-run because reasons, the screen started flashing with hive's green effects but nothing changed and I stayed the full 300 seconds in the Nightmare/final arena.
How are we supposed to try and have "fun" with a so poorly made content where your efforts aren't valued at all? To be clear, this isn't the end of the world, but if even a "simple" triumph as getting the dungeon done alone isn't recognised, how are we supposed to try to get to the next level with a flawless run?

2023.03.30 17:17 Dangerous-Reward2492 A tale of the whale. I could really use advice.

I met my first whale (54m, married) on SA a couple of weeks ago. I’m talking five star hotels (5k a night), room service, whatever it is that I wanted, I got. I got 1k within the first five minutes of meeting him. He is well known and overwhelmingly successful (legitimately, pictures with US presidents, hosted galas / internet and photos prove it). Now, I was on cloud 9 because it took me a WHILE to find a whale (I’m 28f and have been on and off SA for roughly 9 years). Allowance would be about 9k a month plus shopping and bills which is a lot more than I’m used to.
I saw him two nights ago and we had a fantastic, luxurious evening. He keeps referring to himself as the luckiest man on earth, that I’m proof “there is god” (and all that crap that’ll make you gag, lmao).
I wake up to something very interesting on SA today. It’s a photo of him in his hotel (he’s on a business trip, legit he took a helicopter to come see me, I saw the videos etc) with todays date on it, and his bio says “READ TO MEET TODAY” I was incredibly shocked as he seems so eager to meet with another women so quickly after just seeing med
When it comes to monogamy- I don’t care on an emotional level. It’s just the cleanliness (I only practice safely and get tested about every 3 months and have been okay thus far). Heck, I’ve been cheated on by the dustiest of men, I never do expect monogamy from anyone anymore.
For some reason my cranky self decides to make him feel bad for it to see if I can milk out money- maybe I was wrong for this. I text him saying “Wow!!! In such a rush to meet another girl, huh?” Essentially I tell him that “this is not a jealousy issue, that this is a cleanliness issue” and that I’m not sure I’ll ever see him again. He cash app me 1k (it’s giving “i only except apologies in cash”) and essentially tells me how “awful he feels and that he can explain himself (major eyeroll), begging for me to give him another chance and to allow him to make it up to me.” I tell him that “it’s fine, he doesn’t need to be monogamous, but I’ll require more money” - which he happily agreed to.
Something about that picture situation is still so unsettling. I don’t even know how he would explain that, and whatever explanation he comes up with will be total bullshit, I’m sure. But the other part of me knows I can milk the shit out of this. What would you do?
