I don’t know if that’s a right sub to post about it but i regret building a new gaming PC with RTX 4080 and 13700k. I once was addicted to Destiny 2, i’m clean for about 4 months. After that, i sold my old PC and bought a new one to occasionally play singleplayer games but… i don’t even play most of the time. I just watch some YouTube or literally stare at the wallpaper. This is my first time posting and I tend to type whatever comes to mind so I apologise if my post is too lengthy and/or hard to understand!

I have a few questions:
  1. What's the difference between obsession and infatuation?
  2. How do I get rid of it?
  3. Is falling for a movie character falling for the actor, the character or both?

So some context on why I'm posting this:
I think of myself as the kind of person who "loves fully"(?). If I really truly do find myself attracted to you, whether or not I accept this attraction, I will kinda devote my entire myself to you(?).
For example, I'm not a morning person and my morning thoughts are really just random stuff but if I'm attracted to someone, they'll be my one of my first few thoughts/fake scenarios. And I have trouble falling asleep and to pass the time/get myself to fall asleep, I would make up fake scenarios in my head and usually they're romantic ones (because I'm happen to be a hopeless romantic too) and the main difference is whether or not I'm the one experiencing the scenario (clarification: i make up ship scenarios too). And yup, if I'm attracted to you, I would visualise us together in a way.
A few years ago, the only people I would fall for would be anime characters and classmates. However, somewhere around mid 2022, I found myself getting attracted to actors and book characters. And at around the start of 2023 (this year), I found myself getting attracted to almost everyone. Thankfully the attraction is short lived and I think it's really just interest but I'm really worried that some of this interests will develop into serious attraction.
tl;dr: I need help with dealing with my infatuations/obsessions

Ok so more into my problem:
I'm currently infatuated/obsessed with this movie/book character.
I have not watch or read any of the movies and books but I have read lots of fanfictions and I think I'll fall in love with their world soon but I'm also adamant on not getting into that fandom because I'm well aware of the angst that comes with it and I kinda have a fragile heart and character deaths and story endings affect greatly.
The current look of the actor does not appeal to me but his looks when he was acting appeals to my greatly. However, I wouldn't say the way he looked is my type.
I have been wondering for a while on why I'm even attracted to this random character I would have absolutely no interest in a couple months ago. And I've kinda come to a conclusion is that the more I got to know the character, the more I realised he wasn't exactly "evil" as other characters in the fandom portrayed him as. And I also realised I'm the kind of person who is attracted to people with issues (but this is another problem for another time) and finding out about this character's story and everything just makes me sympathise, empathise and want to help him so much. (I think of myself as someone who feels the constant need to want to help others "heal" in a way.)
(In case any of you were wondering on how I got to know this character: A classmate told me about this website where people could create characters for you to chat with. And she chatted with that character as she was into him then and wanted to show me their hilarious conversation.)
tl;dr: I'm infatuated/obsessed with a character because of his backstory.

So currently, the only things I've done to "feed this attraction"(?) is:
  1. Chat with him via that character AI website (for those who are interested, the website is: https://beta.character.ai/ and it also has other AIs for you interact with besides fictional characters!)
  2. Read & watch lots of fanfictions about him
  3. Create a wallpaper full of his pictures and set it as my laptop wallpaper
  4. Think about him almost every hour

Could someone please help me?
The question I need answered the most is: How do I get rid of this thing of mine?
I hate how I love(?) so obsessively(?).

Looking at the product page for Galaxy Kart (US Region).
NOTICE: Game now has 4 Tracks, but we will be releasing more tracks in free updates in the next months, as well as physical steering wheel support.
Looking at the game trailer, players would be using motion controls to use weapons, so how would you use a physical steering wheel at the same time as motion controls?
Would you be steering with one hand and other hand using one of the VR2 Sense controller? Would the game support physical racing pedals as well or just the wheel?
Even if they get something like that working, wouldn't you be likely to hit the steering wheel when trying to use weapons? Unless they can detect and show your steering wheel in-game along with your VR2 sense controller to help you avoid hitting and harming yourself or your controller.
I am up for new gameplay experiences, but I don't believe they will have support for physical steering wheel. At least not while keeping motion controls for weapon uses.
However, if they can make it work, that could be really novel gameplay experience.

Ones I have beaten:
.hack//infection - meh, maybe it was great when it came out but hasn't aged well IMO and I have close to zero interest in any other .hack game
Ar Tonelico - liked it a lot, not so much the sequal, which I quit a few hours in.
Atelier Iris 1 - cute, above average stuff here
Atelier Iris 2 - cute, not bad, not great.
Dawn of Mana - Awful, top 10 worst game I've played. Pity as the other mana games, of which I have played about 4 others were fun.
Dirge of Cerberus - barely compotent shooter RPG
Dragon Quest 8 - loved it.
Final Fantasy 10 - loved it
Final Fantasy X-2 - ....not so much
Final Fantasy 12 - liked it a lot
Grandia 2 - meh, it was ok. Didn't like it as much as others.
Grandia 3 - a huge step down from the original Grandia, didn't like it much
Legaia 2 - big step down from the original which I liked a lot. It kind of grew on me a little though.
Radiata Stories - Liked this one a lot, under rated as far as I can tell, cute little game.
Rogue Galaxy - Another under rated one. Liked it a lot, though it gets a little tedious towards the end.
Star Ocean: Till the end of time - A step down from Star Ocean 2 for the PS but still pretty good.
Tales of Legendia - I've played about 10 other Tales games, most of which I liked a lot, and this was by far my least favorite.
Tales of the Abyss - I liked other Tales games from the PS3 and 4 era a lot more and symphonia was also more enjoyable for me. This one was okay though, happy I played it.
Wild Arms 3 - I really liked this game a lot. While not reachng the heights of the original, it was still enjoyable
Wild Arms 4 - Not sure what happened here. Nice battle system but that's about it.
Wild Arms 5 - Better than 4 but well below 3, for me. Glad I played it but it was not super enjoyable.
Xenosaga 1 - it is ok, kind of tedious
Xenosaga 2 - actually liked this one a little better than 1.
Xenosaga 3 - the series was starting to get good, why'd they have to end it. Fun battle system.

Atelier Iris 3 - first two were good enough to have me interested in the 3rd
Valkyrie Profile 2 - loved the first that I played ages ago. I rmemeber there were sme punishing bosses int that one.
Steamboat Chronicles - seems interesting
Grandia Xtreme - Loved 1, meh feelings for 2, disliked 3 but stil want to see how the series ended.

Suikoden 3 - the boat..ugh, no thanks. Otherwise seemed to have potential until I got on said boat.
Dark Cloud - I know this is beloved but could not get into it, I don't like rogue like types of games except for a select few (shiren the wanderer for snes being one)
Odin Sphere - beautiful but couldn't get into this, especially odd since I loved Muramasa Demon Blade for the wii which I think were the same developers.
Ar Tonelico 2 - Pity but I did not like the changes made to 2, especially the battle system.

Not really interested in SMT games (1, 2 and if for the SNES really put me off that series)
I liked Persona Revalations for the PS1 enough, but I have to be in the right mood for these types of games, which I usually am not. PS5 royal (ps4) is also on my backlog.

2023.03.30 15:42 Greasol A few suggestions on how to make the Ranked better (and the game overall)

Doubt this will get read by anyone at IW/Treyarch/SHG/Activision but it's worth a shot.
  1. Allow players to only match +/-3 of their rank. So a Silver III can only player Bronze III to Gold III. Depending on the distribution of players in each Division, may need to be adjusted to +/-2. u/TreyarchCM please share distribution of players in each rank at end of each Season. Or, allow it to be based a total MMR of a party, with boosts/deductions based on the opponents. Give us our HPR value so we see how it changes overtime & from title to title.
  2. Solo/Duo Queue and a Full Party Queue. During long matchmaking times (low server population), these can play each other. However, some notification/UI change to show solo/duo players are playing against a Full Party. Solo players receive 2x SR. Duo players recieve 1.5X SR. Full Party will be at a 0.50x if against solo players, and 0.75x SR against 2x Duos. Solo/Duo players can disable this option for matchmaking (Discuss?). Matchmaking also needs to be determined based upon role.
  3. Just give us a new Treyarch game already. Better maps, movement, mechanics, dead silence as a perk, red dots, visibility, skins, challenges, "classic COD Feel", less bugs/crashing, pick 10, and so much more.
  4. Re-iterating point #3 because that is how important this is.
  5. Release a COD every 2 years. However a new map NEEDS to be added every month. With up to 6 maps released on the "1 Year Anniversary" This will allow the CDL to test more maps & change throughout the season. Keep your $20 skins if you do this though. Maybe even lower to $15 and sell more? Ask your Accounting nerds to do the math. The 1 Year Cycle just isn't worth it anymore and we're seeing it collapse just over the state of release over the last 5 titles. Also would need new weapons as well. Also helps the pubs players with content. Perhaps 1 new map, 1 remaster, 1 from previous game. Or just keep fan favorites in the game every release (Like Raid & Terminal) but adjust what maps are in pubs queue. Or 1 developer each can make their own map and it be put on a rotation. Not sure, you have people to figure this out. Lots of pros/cons with this one that it could be a post on its own.
  6. History of ranked progress from previous games and seasons. I want to see if I have improved over the years or have gotten worse. You'll have to keep a similar ranking system moving forward, so no 4 Divisions like Cold War had.
  7. Detailed Stats separate from Pubs/DMZ/Warzone stats. These stats are viewable by anyone.
  8. Theatre mode & sharing of games. Important for pubs too. Watch your gameplay to learn from your mistakes, watch other players, and record possible cheaters. Needs to be a good theater mode though and works properly (how did BO1, MW3, and BO2 all have a better theater mode than Cold War? We've had 10 years to IMPROVE on this?). The bug in Cold War where you couldn't even spectate 75% of the players was annoying and the fact that it included your own POV as even more annoying at times.
  9. Listen to the community and provide communication besides some awful Trello board. The fact I see Treyarch responses here & on Twitter more often than IW regarding MW2022 is shameful. It's honestly just disrespectful to long time fans when we have some major competitors in the FPS/Shooter industry doing some fantastic things to move the genre forward- such as Fortnite Creative 2.0, CS2, and so many more. But Activision is over here removing playlists, modes, content, and more.
  10. Paid skins be transferred over to the next release. So any skins on MW2022 would work on COD2024, but not COD2026.
  11. Allow teammates to see what equipment their team has in ranked in the first 10 seconds (or match countdown). I'm sick of solo queueing and seeing that all 4 of my teammates are running Dead Silence, despite 2 of them being ARs. Or seeing 4 subs on a map like El Asilo. I know you can see their character model with the weapons but still.
  12. There are so many more suggestions but I haven't seen most of these posted before (besides the 2 year release, better communication, and the stats page).

I personally have refused to give Activision any additional money besides the original $60-70 for the release. However following even some of the suggestions listed above, in particular the 2 year release & skins being carried over may interest me in buying them. Right now, it's really only for WZ2 & DMZ. Because in 7 months anyhow, your skins won't be available for the next title. And how often do people actually see your skin compared to a 6v6 match?

To make the most of this remarkable new technology, we’ll need to both guard against the risks and spread the benefits to as many people as possible. (The Age of AI has begun — Bill Gates)
There is also an open letter Pause Giant AI Experiments signed by lot of great names as Elon Musk for example, proposing to stop deploying more powerful AI than GPT-4 till there will be institutional and legislative framework defined.
Advanced AI could represent a profound change in the history of life on Earth, and should be planned for and managed with commensurate care and resources. (Pause Giant AI Experiments — Open letter)
There are lot of discussion running around these topics but if such a big names feel a need to comment on something, we can be sure they believe it is important to focus on this topic.
Based on my opinion AI now reached level of complexity that we should start thinking about it as about child.
Saying this there are few points we should take into consideration:
Each AI has parents, company and team that create this AI, and as always there will be good and bad examples of created AIs, this we cannot avoid. But do we have experts, institution and law, that will be help in this situation in sufficient time? The problem is in in current level of AI, this problems can come within days. For social networks we were waiting for clear legislative framework for years.
I fully agree with initiators of this open letter that we need to take some time to ensure, that AI creators (parents) will take full responsibility for its AI, that we have institution (school) that will ensure that general AI is following behavior standards, we have a independent experts (psychologist) that can analyze and help to solve wrong behavioral patters and that we have law that will ensure that all this mentioned will be applied.
You will never let your 4 years child to drink alcohol, watch porn, explain him why people are killing people or manage your business. Or will you?

Anyone else sick of the wasted resources on this nonsensical argument? Last meeting our tax paying dollars paid for 4 police cruisers to be at the OCDSB meeting. 4!!!! This is what, the third meeting we had to pay for police?! The cost is ridiculous.
I'm not even entertaining the ideological argument. Opinions don't matter. The law does and the school is obligated to follow the law. You can argue til your blue in the face but the law says they can pee wherever they want. Get over it. Write to your MPP if you want it changed (not that they care). The school board hands are tied as are the politicians.
I'm tired of watching this stupid argument waste the time of the police and school board. Tax dollars being wasted. It's an issue nobody can change. Even if the school wanted to, they couldn't do ANYTHING other than what the courts have ruled. There isn't any logic to this harassment. People yelling: don't let them..blah, blah, blah. The school saying: it's the law!
Can we please stop ruining the meetings? If you hate trans people write to your politicians to change things.... although they also can't unless we disband the entire Human Rights legislation. Sorry but they argued in court that "gender" should include gender identity, etc. And they won! The court defined the word gender in HR to include them. Personally I have a life and don't care to waste so much energy hating other people. Even if I did want to waste my energy hating and yelling, it doesn't even matter. The law is the law. Hopefully we don't have to continue paying for police at the board meetings. Complete waste of policing resources.

Back when Goats dominated I was 3 SR points away from diamond. My group of friends and I were winning over and over going from gold to high plat in one day. Thr group and I never had a day like that again and I haven't played with them in years.
Over the past few years I've played mostly solo. Going on stints of watching top players, grinding away, and even streaming for a bit with some success. But I never got to diamond. Well that changed last night! I jumped from plat 1 to diamond 4.

I am curently a 24 year old male from bulgaria.
When I was 14 I became a drug addict. I am going to rehab in less than a month finally. (Thanks to fellow redditors advice)
I spent my entire life up to the point of 15 years old playing computer games for 8 hours daily. At school i was smart enough to memorise stuff the previous night and pass exams easily. I never built any habit to study regularly or at all.
When i was 15 till 18 I basivally spent my time going to school, coming back, going to pharmacies to get drugs, then taking them and playing pc games while high.
When I graduated school I spent 4 years not going to university, (i signed up but failed twice and dropped out) I was drugging myself 4 to 8 times every single day, to numb my emotions and i lied in bed and or played games. I didnt even work.
So i was 22 and i spent my entire life till now playing games, watching tv, being alone in my room inside, drugging myself daily and going out walking for hours to get drugs.
Since 22 i started trying to fix my life
I started working, though its very hard for me and exhausting and I always underpeeform and get fired. I work for like 4 months at one place, I always make tons of mistakes and underperform, and eventually I get released. I then spend 2 months waiting for a new job and then i work for 4 months again and i repeat that. For the last 2 years that was my work schedule. Work for a few months, stay alone at home drugged for a few months
I had 2 girlfriends in the last 4 years
But what I am trying to say is, im 24 now, still addicted, spending 80% of my money i earn for drugs, every day I sleep for 14 hours, work 7 hours, spend 2 hours roaming the city for drugs and the rest is lying in bed doing nothing
I feel drained, exhausted and lifeless, no energy at all even to make toast or take a shower. Even to play games i used to play.
I have severe anxiety about what a failure I am in life conpared to normal people, and ptsd like flashbacks many times a day about drugs, as well as many panic atacks every day
Every second of my day, even at work and at my dreams goes to me wandering off and daydreaming about how i wasted so many years and that I am probably never going to break free from this addiction and that building a career is too difficult and im not able to suceed.
I have no emotional support from my family. The only support i get is redditors and people at NA meetings.
What I am trying to say, is that I feel like im a manchild, with absolutely no skills and if I were to be thrown out of my house, id die within a month, cus I cant even provide for myself.
I want to hear some advice, or anything from you guys, give me some hope, or anything
Because 24 7 i am spacing off in my mind with thoughts of how miserable and big a failure I am.

My new smart watch detects moments of sleep where my blood oxygenation is less than 90% but never below 80%.
These periods are around 4-6 min total a night but concentrated - i.e. happen within a 30min stretch time period during what the watch classifies as light sleep usually - they go on for a few min at a time. The watch does not register more than 10 awakenings total a night.
My grandfather had severe sleep apnea - never diagnosed but I remember him waking up gasping for breath his whole life. This was before sleep apnea was taken as seriously.
I am also being investigated for arrythmia but unsure if this has anything to do with it either as a cause or a consequence. I will request to be officially investigated for sleep apnea so not asking for a diagnosis but can't find any articles on this pattern (scientific or lay) and would like to know more. People talk about low blood oxygen when waking up multiple times for a short amount of time.
Anyone have this pattern of low blood oxygen while sleeping?

So lately I have noticed the following issue. When I get a videocall (eg Facebook messenger, Whatsapp) the sound occasionally doesn't go through the speaker but from the earpiece. Yesterday i got a Galaxy Watch 5 and the sound went through i- shouldn't the default output always be through the speakers. Also the same happens with voice messages.
I have to close the app 2-3 times to correct this.
Does anyone have noticed/solved anything similar?

On November 28, ShiftCarbon declared that its oversubscribed private placement had been closed. It initially had a total value of $190k after selling 1,9M shares for a price of $0.10 each. The sale of up to 6.5 million shares allowed the final placement to exceed $656,000. Each share is entitled to one warrant with an expiration date of 24 months and an exercise price of $0.25 per share.
