2023.03.31 17:56 i_tyrant F For the Early Death of My Time with Midnight Suns
Hey folks. Love the game warts and all, but holy shit this might be the most bug-infested game I've played in a long time. (I'm playing on PC.)
Bugs were consistent (broken textures, funky movements, occasional graphical hiccups and framerate loss), but many were non-disruptive to gameplay and the ones that were weren't so constant the game was unplayable.
But now, it's like I got far enough in the game to where it's become completely unstable. It's right after I fought the Demon-Hulk, and doing pretty much anything causes a crash. Running around the Abbey? Crash. Opening a COIL? Crash. Upgrading cards in the Yard? Crash. Starting a mission? Crash. Changing outfits? Crash. Opening the game and clicking Continue? Crash.
And I feel like an EMT doing useless CPR, because hoo boy I've tried everything. Everything in the pinned bug post, everything in articles I've found online. Removing the 2K Launcher, changing Direct X version, verifying file integrity in Steam, turning all graphics settings down to medium and even minimum, and 2 dozen other tricks.
So despite wanting to see how it all ends, I must bid my time with Midnight Suns adieu. Extremely frustrating and I expected better of Firaxis/2K, but oh well. At least I got it on sale, and I hope the rest of you continue to have fun for me! Kinda reminded me of the old fun times I had with Metal Gear Acid.

2023.03.31 17:55 VirtuallySober 30 Lbs Down - A New Fathers Journey
Stats: M/32/SW: 230/CW: 199/GW: 180(?)
At my wife's baby shower we took a few photos to celebrate.
I smiled and said "oh cute" but I fucking hated every single one. I looked more pregnant than my wife. In the back of my mind I was contending with the reality that I was also about to be a
father. How the hell was I supposed to lose weight with a newborn? Everything I've read and heard says that I wouldn't have time to lose weight or exercise or even sit down for a meal. I'd already tried to lose weight countless times in the past 5 years and failed every single time.
Part of me secretly hoped for the mythical "parent mode" where I'd be so inspired by my Childs birth I'd lose weight and get in shape. At that point it's all I could do was hope for a miracle.
Well, that miracle never came. My daughter was born and our lives were thrown into chaos for that first month or so. I still wanted to be healthier for my daughter but it wasn't spurning any serious life changes until one day when we were discussing what she would be eating when she started eating solids. I realized we needed to start eating healthier foods in the house at a consistent rate. Our usual week schedule would be healthy breakfasts and lunches, a few home cooked meals during the week and eating out the rest of the time. I knew it wasn't great, but I just figured it probably wasn't
that bad compared to most people. From my countless other weight-loss attempts, I knew I was decent and keeping my calories under 2,000 during the week but figured I just barely bumped that on the weekends (which I conveniently never tracked because it was too embarrassing).
Knowing she had to eat healthier was the seed that started it all. I started with small goals, just eating better. I made it a point to eat home cooked meals every day of the week and only go out to eat 1 or 2 times on the weekend. Then I started counting calories, like I had so many times in the past. I was sure I would fail this time but I tried anyways. My biggest goal was to actually count what I was eating and not allow myself to skip weekends just because I knew it was embarrassing.
For calorie counting the biggest change I made from times past was forgiveness. It's absolutely a personal thing which will be different for every person but for me I couldn't stand when I failed. One bad weekend would reset the entire process, I'd completely fall off and it'd be months before I tried again (and the cycle continued). I realized I needed to actually brush off bad meals or days. Like, not let them devour my mindset for days. When we were dealing with the first months of my daughters sleep schedule, I would frequently get upset at myself because I got upset at her, an infant, for not sleeping well. I knew it was stupid to feel any type of way towards a baby like that so it became a self-hate cycle where I'd rage at myself for feeling like that and I'd spiral for a few days. Then finally I actually just forgave myself, truly, for feeling upset during one episode and just asked my wife for help and then did something else. It wasn't the end of my anger but I did realize that true forgiveness was healing. I applied the same thing to my eating and started to find it much easier to bounce back.
Another change I had, which I wish I had a nice anecdote for how I implemented it, was controlling my cravings. I'm an absolute treat monster. I love any and every type of treat. I would
never buy them because it would be catastrophic in the house when one evening I was bored and would just demolish whatever we had. Once I had my CICO in play, I decided "fuck these treats" and started actively looking for situations to challenge myself to not eat them. Girl Scout season is usually a mess but I was able to actually have boxes of cookies in my house and not eat them, or eat a single cookie within my budget and then stop. I started to relish the power dynamic shifting to where I knew I was in control and not the treat.
Last piece was working out. I know CICO is the most important aspect, but exercise can't be left completely out of the equation if only because of the mental boosts it gives. I started extremely small. 10 min workouts with a kettlebell, 3x a week. I did that until it was routine to be outside for those 10 min. Then I started adding onto it with the C25K running plan. I'd do the days run and then a little weights after. Maybe 30-40 min total. The actual calories being lost was negligible but the mental energy boost I got from having completed even the smallest workout was enough to help me see through the day. I also started to love being able to eat an extra 100 or 200 calories in the form of some snack - cheetos or whatever current craving I was having.
After a couple months I graduated from the C25K program and started running 3 5Ks a week. At this point I switched to a more running focused workout as I started to get more enjoyment from that. In the last month I've started doing a half marathon training program which has me exercising 5x a week. it's perfect.
Today was the day I finally was under 200 lbs. It look longer than I expected because in the first few months I dropped weight like crazy but recently it's slowed to only being about 1lb a week. I'm taking solace in the fact that the weight loss is consistent and the lifestyle I live is sustainable long term.

2023.03.31 17:55 StepwiseUndrape574 Grand Theft Auto is no stranger to add-on content,
Grand Theft Auto is no stranger to add-on content, but the latest in a long line of leaks suggests Rockstar might be taking a bit of a different approach for the long-awaited sequel — splitting up parts of the game to repackage as DLC.
The rumor comes from established Rockstar leaker Tez2, who says Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently targeting a release in holiday 2024 “which has been pushed back multiple times.” Tez2 adds the game may be pushed back again, into to 2025.
Furthermore, Tez2 claims Rockstar is considering breaking up the game’s content into post-launch DLC, to ensure the game can meet a release date. If GTA 6 launches in 2024, it will be a whopping 11 years since the last release in the franchise.
This wouldn’t be an unprecedented move from Rockstar, considering the approach the studio has taken with GTA Online, incrementally releasing massive updates and new story content. Notably, however, GTA 5 didn’t feature any additional story content, just updates to the Online portion of the game.
GTA Online GTA Online has managed to stay relevant for a decade with consistent updates, and it makes sense Rockstar would pivot to that same approach to single-player content.ROCKSTAR Taking this approach would let Rockstar more easily hit whatever internal timeline is established for GTA 6, and provide a road map of content to make post-launch more appealing to players. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time this kind of rumor has been brought up by Tez2, as last August the leaker reported GTA 6 would “expand over time,” adding on new cities after launch.
The easiest approach would be to create content that ties into both the single-player and multiplayer aspects of GTA 6, and creating new cities in-game could do just that. New locations could be fully playable in the online portion, while also adding on hand-crafted stories and missions. This would allow Rockstar to continue the overwhelming success of GTA Online, while story content could help attract new players or those that might not care to engage with multiplayer.
This tactic of splitting up elements of the game as DLC is something Nintendo has been using for years, to great success. Mario Strikers: Battle League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Nintendo Switch Sports, have all seen scheduled add-ons for new content, even years after their initial release. At this point, it’s not clear how much of a live-service element there will be for GTA 6, but this Nintendo-like approach would allow Rockstar to retain players who are primarily interested in single-player experiences.
GTA 5 Although GTA 5 never received single-player DLC, Rockstar’s director of design said in a 2017 interview the studio would “love to do more single-player add-ons for games in the future.”ROCKSTAR Nintendo stands apart from other developers, though, in that typically these updates are free or bundled with a Switch Online subscription. It’s a smart move, as games like Mario Strikers, which would typically have a very short shelf life, suddenly provide players with more of a reason to stick with it for the long haul. It also allows Nintendo to continue to sell its older, first-party titles with minimal discounts.
There’s no video game property in existence bigger than Grand Theft Auto, and a report in 2020 estimated GTA Online made a staggering $600 million in 2019. Even in 2023, it continues to hold an enviable place in the sales charts month after month. The popularity of GTA Online has only continued to increase over the years, and that mainstream success is exactly what’s poised to make GTA 6 such a massive success.
Breaking up content into DLC lets Rockstar bring GTA 6 back into the conversation every six months, year, or whatever release timeline suits the studio and the community best. Seeing a big GTA 6 update in a State of Play or other presentation will likely bring thousands of players flocking back to the game, and considering GTA 5 and GTA Online are still alive and kicking a decade later, it’s easy to say Rockstar is hoping for lightning to strike twice with GTA 6.

2023.03.31 17:53 IndigoTechCLT Scam/Scum Alert: Southern National Roofing
I wanted to take a moment to talk about my experience with Southern National Roofing and what I consider their extremely shady sales practices.
I did not get a roof installed so I can't comment on the quality of their installed products, this is only concerning their sales tactics and how they conduct themselves.
Tuesday March 28th, 2023 a guy knocks on my door and asks me to come outside so he can show me some problems with my roof. It's old and needs to be replaced so I go out and he runs through some problem areas.
He tells me that if I'm interested they can send a project manager out to do an inspection and give me a quote for a new roof that will be good for 12 months. Sounds great, I thought. We're not financially ready to spend an insane amount of money right now but it's on the to do list and having a price in hand will be helpful for planning.
I agree, give some info, and talk to a guy named Gary about scheduling a PM for 7 that night.
The first problem, Gary calls me back later from a number that's flagged as potential spam and tells me there's no PM available and can we do tomorrow. I agree, he asks will my wife be around and I say yes.
That's it, btw. He doesn't specify that she'll need to be available for the whole presentation just asks 'will she be there?' and I say yes. Again, one hour start to finish, estimate good for 12 months.
Scheduling issues happen, people get sick, not a big deal so far.
Wednesday, March 29th. A lovely guy named Chris shows up to inspect the roof. We talk about the history of the house, the age etc and he checks everything outside and inside the attic. As expected, lots of problems because the roof is old and needs to be replaced.
The appointment started at 6pm. My wife gets home from work around 630 as we're ready to talk materials and numbers. She's hungry and wants to eat dinner but is ten feet away from where we're sitting.
Chris' demeanor totally changes and he asks me "I thought you said this was a good time?"
I say it's fine, she can hear us talking and I'm the one who will be making the final decision. That's apparently no good and Chris calls Gary and puts him on speaker.
I should have ended the whole process there and then because Gary was incredibly rude and disrespectful to me and my wife. And it's totally his fault for not explaining that "will she be there?" means "will she be there at rapt attention for the whole sales presentation despite not warning us about that?"
She agrees to delay dinner and sits down while Chris tells about the company certifications and how they operate. We review materials and installation options and ask for two prices, the more basic option and the premium one.
Chris goes outside to get measurements and work up the estimate. While he's outside I read all the google reviews listed, roughly 30 of them. Most are either 5 star or 1 star. People seem happy with the installs or very unhappy that the sales guys walked right past no soliciting signs to knock on their doors. So I think to myself at least the work is apparently pretty good, no one is complaining about leaks or anything.
Chris comes back inside and we're well past 730pm at this point. The appt was supposed to be an hour and we're getting crankier that it's dragging on.
The estimates come back at around 25k for the premium install. 18k for the basic install (16ish if i pay cash.) This is for 19 squares of shingles, 218 feet leak barrier, 65 feet ridge cap and 190 feet drip edge.
Now some extra shadiness, despite saying the estimate is good for 12 months the prices quoted involved a discount on the shingles we picked out because they had surplus so we'd pay more if we didn't purchase it immediately.
We told Chris thank you, but the price is higher than we expected and that price point is out of our range. Chris gets serious again and asks if he could knock the price down a bit would that be good. We said maybe, what can you do?
This is when I realized how shady this business is and why I am writing this review. We were offered a "pilot house" discount to basically let them put a yard sign up and for us to write positive reviews. The promotion ended a few days ago but since Gary was rude maybe he'll be amenable to offering the deal to us.
The prices drops to 12k. Just like that, magically we get a 25% discount on the cash price. It's still higher than we can pay cash right now so we discuss for a moment and then tell Chris we can't do it and thank him for his time.
After he leaves I start replaying the encounter in my head and I start to think about how icky I feel about it.
I'm 99% sure they have Gary playing bad cop on purpose so that the project manager seems more sympathetic. And now I am positive that you CANNOT trust the 5 star reviews because some of them were certainly gained by offering the discounts. I don't know if that' illegal to trade discounts for a positive review but it's incredibly shady.
I hated the entire experience, which ran nearly double the time they told us. I feel like they are ripping people off if they accept the initial estimate. If you can knock 4k in profit off of an install without blinking then you are overcharging like crazy.
Again, I can't speak to the quality of the actual work but this kind of high pressure sales tactics are disgusting and predatory. I hope everyone who reads this feels like they can make a more informed decision on their roofing company.
TLDR: Southern national roofing is a shady biz who is overcharging and buying positive reviews with discounts.

2023.03.31 17:53 17thPoet Police Benefits, California/In General, Becoming A Detective
Hello
AskLe, before the questions, here's something about myself. I'm 25yrs old and soon to be college graduate, and I'm at a stage where I'm at a crossroad. If I go one way, either military or LE, I can't go back since I'd be getting older. So for me, it's going all in.
What's the benefits like in police, does it vary state to state or is it the same? I'm finishing up college soon (2 more quarters) so I don't need the GI Bill, what is the comparison between police and military, especially in housing?
Also, what is it like to be a detective? I know that the pay is good (Cali wise, google search gave me 60k-90k). But I hear about the hours and other cons as well, so I'd like to hear from you gentlemen as well.
Your answers and insights are greatly appreciated, as well as your service to the community. Thank you for your time.

im so anxious of something bad going wrong, like someone breaking into my house, or there being a bug in the house that i cant fend off (which i have a phobia of a select few), or something happening to the cat. or something else happening which i need transport for, which i wont have as i cant drive. or something bad happening to my partner and not being close enough to do anything about it
I also just know that i am going to miss my partner so much, and its just gonna be so hard to be by myself without them.
another thing is that in january we received threats from someone, so thats brought my anxiety to a all time high.

2023.03.31 17:53 amzn-anderson Any prompt discovery sites you've been enjoying?
I recently saw an "idea generator" prompt which had multiple steps requiring GPT to gain context by asking questions before moving on...
Seems like this can be applied to a ton of things, for example a GPT tool that acts like a personal chef might start by asking what you feel like eating, and what ingredients you have, and if you're willing to get more ingredients or stick strictly to what you've got in your house. After learning enough it would create a recipe.
Obviously you can already say "create me a recipe for XYZ, i have ABC ingredients", but it gets exhausting to put all the context upfront.

I am a lonely bachelorette living somewhere in Soho, NY. Been here all my life, working and all. I'm very preoccupied with living alone and casually going out and meeting other people. A typical Party goer as one may call it. To cut the shit short, I have been friends with this couple next door. I intend to be closer because I recently discovered I'm in love with someone's husband. I guess it's the stability of a man that got me here, growing up I had no father figure around. It's mostly my mom who did everything for me. To cut the shit short I may have some Daddy issues. and for 3 years he's been helping me with my shitty apartment fixing everything around the house. He's an average joe but the way he gets things done made me fall for him even more. His wife just doesn't sit right with me and him in the picture. I know he feels something for me, I can feel it radiate whenever we're together.

2023.03.31 17:53 sseoshiii (Spoilers Extended) Sorry but People who think Young Griff identity doesn’t matter are delusional
I really don’t get why people insist that his identity won’t be revealed and will most likely never be confirmed. Their reasoning? Because Varys said so. But Varys was right when he said "power resides where men believe it resides." That’s why Tyrells didn’t give a fuck about Joffrey and Tommen parentage when they tried to wed their daughter to them because As Varys says, power resides where men believe it resides but There is a distinction between saying it doesn't matter for opportunistic people or smallfolk and that it will or won't be revealed.
His true identity already matters.
both Tyrion and Doran/Arianne are trying to fogure out if he is legit or not. Arianne's whole trip to the Stormlands to meet Aegon was planned, in part, to get a measure of whether he's real or not. We have characters like Tyrion or Randyll Tarly thinking that he is a fake.
Young Grift matters in relation to the different POV characters
JonCon JonCon has projected his grief and anger over Rhaegar's death into his "son":
He had failed Prince Rhaegar once. He would not fail his son, not whilst life remained in his body.
"burned that town and every living creature in it" and "sent his men in to find the bones of Robert Baratheon", because that is what Tywin would've done, which we can probably guess is true.
JonCon will ends up committing acts of brutality on behalf of putting "Rhaegar's son" onto the iron throne
The tragedy consequence for JonCon's butchery will be that all the horrible things he'll do in TWOW will be for a kid who isn't even the son of his silver haired crush. How devastating will it be for JonCon to learn the truth that he did it all for a kid who wasn't even Rhaegar's?
Do you think GRRM is planning for JonCon to commit horrible war crimes and butchery like killing Tommen and Myrcella etc. but in his last breaths thinking "well at least I did all of this to protect Rhaegar's son at least I tried so it was all worth it?" really? JonCon will and should know the truth. That's his tragic ending.
Doran and House Martell We don’t talk about House Martell unintentionally supporting a blackfyre enough. Do you think is it a coincidence that the only major house that is going to support fAegon is House Martell? And guess what? The anti-Dornish sentiment was one of the most rallying points for the Blackfyre Rebellion and they were pretty racist against Baelor for being Half-Martell
Now we all know Doran wants vengeance. Doran has been nursing this grudge for seventeen years. But there is a second key trait of Doran’s that conflicts with this desire for bloody vengeance he is intensely concerned about the innocent lives that could be lost due to his desire for vengeance.
He’s also feel guilty for outliving his younger siblings
“I was the oldest,” the prince said, “and yet I am the last. I was a man grown when they were playing in these pools. Yet here I sit, and they are gone.
Doran is in a difficult place. Shows how difficult it is to be a good ruler and a good family man to revenge his family
Until the mountain crushed my brother’s skull, no Dornishmen had died in this War of the Five Kings," the prince murmured softly, as Hotah pulled a blanket over him. “Tell me, Captain, is that my shame or my glory?
But when Doran finds out about Aegon then it is no longer about the vengeance but as Elia's brother he sees it as a duty to support her "son" Now we all know how bad it will end for Dorne when they join YG. I mean if he loses most of his family, his kingdom gets ravaged that's tragic enough for a man who loves his children and cares about the innocent children and smallfolk but if Aegon is not even Elia's real child, but a fucking blackfyre who used the tragedy and memory of Elia's son to get their armies that would be devastating for him.
Dany Despite what fandom thinks of Dany being a bloodthirsty mad woman who only cares about the throne so that’s why she’ll kill Aegon and her first thought is going to be to rip out her nephew's throat because he's a rival to her throne. but Dany always saw the throne as her duty besides her family is more important than the throne to her. that's why she wants to learn about Rhaegar and her parents from Barristan that’s why why she thinks of Aegon himself and ponders the fact she might have married him. If she hears about him she'd first feel happy that she's not the last of her house. But if she finds out that he's a fake - the lie she's been prophesied to defeat - and the Blackfyres are using the murder of Rhaegar's son to try and steal the throne again she’ll be very angry

2023.03.31 17:53 soofjamfever Nmom never invites me and my brother to dinner at the same time. Anyone have any insight? Details below.
So my SIL and I were discussing this last night and how strange it is. We've noticed over the last few years that my Nmom never invites us all over together as a family at the same time.
My SIL was the one that pointed it out to me and my brother, because she comes from a healthy family so it stuck out to her.
My Nmom will invite my brotheSIL to my parents' house for dinner pretty frequently, but she won't mention it to me. She also invites me and my boyfriend over for dinner on occasion, but again, it's always just us, she doesn't invite my brotheSIL at the same time. We VERY RARELY are all there together at the same time. She only seems to invite one couple at a time.
The most recent time, my Nmom invited my brotheSIL, and...a random young couple from her church that my brotheSIL don't even know. But didn't invite me and my boyfriend. This especially stood out to my brotheSIL as they thought it was very strange and the evening was pretty awkward.
Pretty much the only time we're all there together is holidays or special occasions. The last time we were all together, (my bf wasn't even there this time) my aunt was in town visiting. My aunt is a very outgoing lovely person and we were all having a great time chatting and catching up with each other.
However, my SIL and I noticed that my Nmom was acting really strange the whole evening. Quiet and moody. I just ignored it because I knew she probably just wanted attention and we were all having fun spending time with my aunt and I wasn't gonna let her behavior put a damper on the night. But it was really strange, because why would you be upset about your family spending time together? She's always wanting us to have more family time anyway.
I knew something was really wrong when the whole family came outside to say our goodbyes and she stayed inside the house by herself 🙄 Anyway, does anyone have any insight on this? Have you experienced anything strange like this with your Nparent? Why do they do such strange things?!

2023.03.31 17:52 WealthyJoker75 job offer anxiety has me unable to concentrate about anything else
I received a written job offer and I'm due to start on the 11th April. This will allow me to move out of my parents house and finally start my career in sales. But I'm constantly anxious about it. What if it's rescinded? Etc. Any advice?

2023.03.31 17:52 Sensitive_Injury_666 Which receiver is right for me? Options and requirements below. Sorry for the excessive details.
Morning all. I am shopping for a receiver. I am looking at the following options. It will be used primarily for music, so quality integrated DAC and 2.1 switching is important to me to get as close as possible to the quality of a good 2chan amp. No plans to go any further than 5.1 for movies but want good room correction if possible and assorted other features like ability to manually adjust center channel, possibly phono input but not essential. Good selection of input and output options. Streaming not essential as I already own a Wiim mini using digital output. However the possibility for wireless surrounds might be nice but not essential. What else do you look for personally in a receiver ? Budget ideally under 1k but if a good argument is made may go higher.
Denon S760H- this is a top contender because Costco has it available for 499$ with a 2 year(or more) warranty. Seems like a good price with a lot of features, and might be “good enough” compared to more expensive options ie diminishing returns beyond this.
Denon X-1700H 699$ on crutchfield
Onkyo TX-NR6100 699$ today only (100 off) on crutchfield. Seems like a good price and have heard Onkyo leans more music. Also some sites list this as the “best receiver under 1k”
Denon X-2700H 799$ on crutchfield (300 off special) so seems like a more expensive receiver that I can get in budget due to discount
Yamaha RX-V6A 849$ on crutchfield. The one they recommended to me for music focused receiver. Seems like it might have a solid DAC but higher priced, and have not had great luck with Yamaha in the past. To be fair it has been quite a few years tho
Should I be considering a marantz as well?
TIA!

2023.03.31 17:52 imthetrashman12 Why can’t people just mind their business
Hey guys, just ranting here. I work as an HVAC service tech. I don’t have my own van yet bc the company is a really small family business, which means I have to ride around with my supervisor even if I’m doing all the work alone and he hangs out in the van. I did a service call recently and this older woman was the homeowner. I did the usual “good morning I’m XYZ from XYZ here to fix XYZ.” She was all nice and showed me around until I grabbed my ladder to go up into the attic which is when she asked who was going to be fixing her system, I said me, she said oh but do you know what you’re doing? I said yes ma’am I sure do. She didn’t say much cause I went up but she hovered a little which was fine. When I came back down I saw my supervisor had also walked in and was talking to her when I heard him explain again that yes I’m the tech and he’s there just in case I need help but that’s all. The lady then turns to me and says “it must be so hard raising a family when you work long hours” and it caught me off guard for a second and I said oh I actually don’t have kids.
The rest of the convo went a long the lines of “well how old are you? You look young” “I’m 26 but most of my family members waited till their 30s to have kids” “Well are you going to have kids?” “I’m only 26 so I’m sure my husband and I will cross that bridge when we get there” “But children are such a blessing you husband must want a full house! If he works you shouldn’t have to do a job like this” “Thankfully I enjoy my job and I don’t plan on quitting just yet” “But what about children? You can’t work if you have kids” That finally culminated in me saying “I don’t have kids, I’m actually infertile.” To which she looked upset and uncomfortable and I was finally able to walk away to grab a part from the van. She didn’t speak to me the rest of the time there which was more than fine by me but then back in the van my supervisor said I should’ve left the infertile part of and said I didn’t want kids (which is true, I don’t) but I know that wouldn’t have stopped her anyways and she wouldn’t shut up so push came to shove and I just said the truth anyways. My supervisor said I probably won’t be going back to her house which is fine, she doesn’t have a contract with us anyways, and I may have been too forward but also it was none of her business. There was no need for her to bring up that convo in the first place and no matter how many times I tried to step past her she just wouldn’t move out of the way so I was more or less stuck.

2023.03.31 17:52 pimsim Skilhunt H04 Headband
| I purchased this headlamp - my first enthusiast light - about a month ago and it's been great so far. Intended use is indoor work but it's been great outside at night in a pinch too - it lights my backyard with a smooth flood. After using a hardware store headlamp for years, it's amazing to use a light without artifacts in the spot - no more turning my head to look around a blind spot while working up close on something small. My one criticism - and this is partly a result of expectation - is the headband. I read more than once how the H04 series comes with one of the best headbands on the market. Maybe the headband I received is different than the ones those comments were based on. My headband is inferior to any of the headbands that came with $20 headlamps from Home Depot. While comfortable, it's too stretchy. The H04 is an extremely lightweight headlamp and yet I can feel it "bob" on my forehead when I walk. And the tightening mechanism is contantly loosening so I'm always tightening it back up - like every few minutes. And finally, while the the double loop holder is great for rotating the headlamp while on your head, it's a poor design if you want to remove the headlamp to use it without the headand - it's not a quick release and the friction from the loops makes it slow to remove. https://preview.redd.it/7goedqkfj3ra1.jpg?width=1134&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1facaa2c310c3a8f61a41cc21eb133f7dd1615c4 If it wasn't for the heaband I would wholeheartedly recommend this light for work around the house, inside or out. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket headband? submitted by pimsim to flashlight [link] [comments] |

2023.03.31 17:51 starbucksdrinker97 New to biking, looking between two new bikes or a used bike.
Hi friends!
I have felt for about a month thar biking should be my next fitness personality to add (currently it’s only indoor spin classes and hiking). As such, I am needing a bike. Pretty obvious first step. I tried two bikes yesterday, and liked them both. The new bikes I tried were: - cannondale quick womens 3 ($740) - cannondale quick 5 ($519)
I didn’t experience much of a difference ride-wise between the two. They’re both on sale, and because the quick 5 feels (so far) good, Im inclined to lean toward that.
There’s also a specialized sirrus that I found, used, for $150. The person says the bike wasn’t used much, but couldn’t name the bike year, and will only take cash. Clearly, that’s a steal, but I also recognize as a new biker I can EASILY be ripped off and saddled with a bike that might need extensive tune-ups and I would be none the wiser.
In conclusion, I don’t really know which direction to lean toward. I want to be smart with this purchase, but not sink crazy money into a bike when it’s my first, and I’ll learn if there are features I am missing.
Am I thinking in a good school of thought. Are Canondales even a good choice? There’s so many considerations, my brain is spinning.

2023.03.31 17:51 MFC111686 Upholstery steamers
Does anyone have a Mytee s-300 or the like? It seems like something only a professional would have but I'd rather buy once the heaviest duty thing I can find and use it for everything than have something like a bissell or hoover and need to bring in a pro every so often.
Relevant to say I buy and upgrade a lot of upholstered items from FBMP + Estate sales + Auctions, never buy new.
