2022.08.28 19:05 OutlandishnessNo9182 It seems like Rayquaza, Donphan, Aerodactyl and Bastiodon all get evolutions in the form of Kaido, Jack, King and Queen respectfully
It seems that the Professors at Smogun university are back with more crossover evolutions in order to have their Stink post mons make it to the higher tiers and what they came up with are one piece characters Kaido, Jack, King and Queen with their Zoan forms as new Pokemon evolutions of Rayquaza, Donphan, Aerodactyl and Bastiodon and I have first report of these detailed stats, abilities and overall ridiculousness along the way.

Jack
The wooly mammoth pokemon
Ground/Dark

2022.02.03 22:40 CheshireTiger1 Random thoughts through generations...
Kinda hope there will one day be an enemy faction that mainly uses Fairy types...
Oranguru could be good in 1v1 if it knew Baton pass, right? It seems designed for 2v2, but i cant find a moveset on smogun. Could i make one on there?
I may be too broke for console + Sw/Sh But im stil designing a team cuz a man can dream
I only look up smogun movesets on my fave mons, but almost never implement them.
Typically train mine to have * 1 attack per each type it has * Other attack(s) for type coverage * Signature move, if i find it intersting * 1 stat boosting/status move

2020.02.15 10:42 Daerog [Monotype] Super beginner to any competitive play, hoping for some guidance!
I've been lurking this subreddit and the smogun forums, trying to consolidate information and absorb tactics from people much, much more experienced than I, and thought to finally reach out and personally ask for some help. I'm looking to get into monotype competitive, and I went with Ghost for my type because it fits in a lot of my favorites, and it seemed to be doing well overall according to the folks over at the Smogon forums. While I realize I'll most likely have to sacrifice some 'mons, I'd really, really love to keep in a few (specifically: Decidueye, Aegislash, and Mimikyu).
However, I'm feeling a bit iffy on the team as a whole, and my understanding is not to the point where I feel I can make educated assertions. I know broad concepts and, conceptually, how to build a team, but I'm definitely struggling putting all the puzzle pieces together. I'm working on just getting out there and learning through experience, but please go easy on me for some of the more ridiculous errors (like trying to apply 2 different status effects to the same opponent 'mon, that happened... twice). I hope I provide enough information with this post to make it past the requirements, but apologies if I don't.
The Team:
Aegislash @ Leftovers Ability: Stance Change Shiny: Yes EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD Careful Nature - Toxic - King's Shield - Substitute - Shadow Sneak Decidueye @ Focus Sash Ability: Long Reach Shiny: Yes EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD Adamant Nature - Spirit Shackle - Leaf Blade - Roost - Swords Dance Corsola-Galar @ Eviolite Ability: Cursed Body EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD Calm Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Will-O-Wisp - Night Shade - Strength Sap - Stealth Rock Sableye @ Leftovers Ability: Prankster EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Encore - Will-O-Wisp - Foul Play - Recover Polteageist @ White Herb Ability: Weak Armor EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Giga Drain - Stored Power - Shell Smash - Shadow Ball Mimikyu @ Life Orb Ability: Disguise EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Swords Dance - Shadow Claw - Shadow Sneak - Play Rough
Most, if not all, of the movesets, items, and EV spreads came from various Smogon threads, and while I tried to figure out how best to make all these work together, I feel like I probably have several instances where smarter choices could be made.
Movesets:
- Aegislash, I chose to use Toxic because of its reintroduction to Sw/Sh, and because of how much of a nuisance I've heard it can be with Substitute. Plus, I do love Toxic's ramp up, and I wasn't sure when building the team if I needed it to be a more defensive staller, or if I should shift it offensively. While I admit it was somewhat effective in my matches on Showdown the other day, I'm not sure I fully understand how it specifically plays with the rest of the team at all times.
- Decidueye, on the other hand, felt like it was just barely working out. It never seemed to shine, and the few KOs it produced felt more like luck than anything else, but after watching my replays, there were some fights where it came in clutch for me. That being said, I am damned set on using it, because I didn't get to play Pokemon during its generation, and I absolutely love this birb. Would LOVE to hear how I can make it more effective, or how to use it more effectively. I couldn't find as much recent theorycrafting on it due to its very recent inclusion to Gen 8, so I put the moveset together from mostly old information. Roost seemed like the most flexible slot to swap something in (U-Turn, maybe?) but then again it did save me a few times, so maybe it stays. I don't think I ever felt comfortable using SD for fear of getting swept, so maybe that should go for another option.
- Corsola-G was quite possibly the MVP of the team. I'd read so many posts and threads talking about how imposing of a wall it was, and I had a blast using it. Moveset was just a clone of the most popular ones I found while researching, though I did see mention of using it with Hex instead, and am curious how it works out.
- Sableye made it onto the team entirely because of one post I'd come across, and it seemed like a fun setup. I was really bad at predictions with Encore, but since it was my first time using Sableye and Encore in general, I give myself a slight pass. It was up there with Corsola in terms of supporting my team, and I rather enjoyed using it, but I'm not attached to it. Sableye's spot was originally for Dhelmise, but once Decidueye became available, it felt like a bad idea to double up on Grass/Ghost. No clue if I'm right or wrong. Would be cool to be wrong - this whole team started because I wanted to use Dhelmise competitively.
- Polteageist was never even once on my radar, until a couple posts I'd read referenced it with Shell Smash + White Herb, and it sounded like it could be fun. It also ended up being one of my least used/least skillfully used, and the one or two KOs it secured felt lucky as hell, and were frankly freebies.
- Mimikyu is Mimikyu. I love the little guy, he did a solid job sweeping, and having used him once or twice in fights on Sw/Sh, I already mostly understood how to go about securing his sweep. Still, definitely need a lot more practice with him, as many of the KOs I got were a surprise, but a welcome one to be sure.
Composition:
I can't say with certainty that I feel like there's an issue in the composition of the team, but I am suspicious of it. It could be that I couldn't produce solid/repeatable results with Decidueye, who often felt like a freebie KO for my opponents, or that I really had no clue what I was doing with my matchups and setup for Polteageist. As I mentioned above, Dhelmise was an original when I was coming up with the team, but if I was going to be adamant about Decidueye's spot, it felt like I had to give up on the ol' anchor.
Questions:
- Taking into account my choice of type (Ghost) and my determined spots (Decidueye, specifically, as I feel like Aegislash and Mimikyu are fine choices for many teams, monotype or not), what should this team look like? Is my defensive core too large? Is my defensive core (Corsola-G + Sableye) even a core? Is Aegislash stepping on their toes? In my bones it feels like this composition is off, and that's my biggest question. The defensive core felt somewhat solid, but my offensive core felt poorly cobbled together, despite having a decent win-rate.
- Is there any hope for Decidueye? Should I be altering some spots/movesets around to better enable it? Will it require shaping the rest of the team to support it?
- After the first match I had, it seemed like the safest lead was always Corsola-G. Is that the case? Regardless of my type matchups, it made sense for Corsola-G to lead so that it could set rocks and status right out the gate, which felt like the right thing to be doing, but I feel the need to ask regardless.
Replays:
Pokemon Showdown! Replay 1 Pokemon Showdown! Replay 2 Pokemon Showdown! Replay 3 Closing Thoughts:
After watching through all 6 of the replays I have available (Showdown! IGN: Korinthian), some wins were pure luck, while others it felt like I sort of knew what was going on, and some were people just rage quitting (turn 5, Corsola-G vs. Hydreigon, I disabled its Dark Pulse and they forfeit). I swear I'd recorded some of my losses, because I know there were plenty, but if nothing else I had 6 wins under my belt that night of play, and that feels kinda good. I'm really looking forward to any help anyone can provide, as I'd really like to make this team on cart for Sw/Sh, but not until it has its kinks ironed out. Hope I've fleshed this out enough to pass the rules, eager to hear what anyone has to say.
EDIT: Fixed Replay links.

2012.07.01 19:52 howtofall oh how times have changed
does anyone remember the best days the days not when 1st gen was the only gen not when ash could still logically be 10 but when pokemon was truly a game. maybe its just me but i miss the days when i didn't know about ev's or iv's or strategies. when i could see a pokemon and say you look bad ass without looking at bulbapedia, serebii, or smogun. you just knew that t-tar was a boss because of the Celebi movie i miss playing without a clue what the next gym is its an experience that only happens once in a generation and maybe i'm the only one who doesn't face a gym leader w/out knowing their pokemon's moves and stacking my team accordingly but it's hard to lose and i miss the days when it was a challenge to win, not because new games are easy but because of my own lack of self control
