Make: MG
Model: GT Sport TST
Engine: 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve Inline-4 Turbo Intercooler
Max Power: 161 PS @ 5600 rpm
Max Torque: 250 Nm @ 1750 - 4000 rpm
Transmission: 7-speed dual-clutch transmission
Price as Tested: ₱PHP 1,193,888

For a brand known mainly for its sports cars from the 60s to the 90s, it was unusual to see MG launch one crossover SUV after another in the local market. They teased us a little bit with the MG6 liftback (launched in 2019), but thankfully, they are upping the marque’s sportiness with the introduction of the second-generation MG GT sports sedan.

Its nose has a proper scowl, which makes it look like it is impatiently waiting for the light to turn green and dash away. It was thoughtful of MG to put holes for the vehicle plate screws below the 3D digital flaming grille (so onlookers can see its full form), and the extra black molding that extends into these large air vents is a nice touch that gives it a one-of-a-kind front fascia.

The side showcases its very nice 17-inch two-tone Tomahawk alloy wheels, a couple of sharp character lines that highlight the shapely fenders, and a chrome trim that traces the daylight opening and emphasizes the slope that gives it a fastback form.

LED bulbs are standard on the intelligent headlights and 3D racetrack taillights. It also has a couple of elements that reduce drag and increase aerodynamic efficiency, a front (carbon fiber-style) and rear (ducktail) spoiler.

It looks every bit the part of a sports sedan from the front, but I have a few suggestions. A lower stance would be better, which means reduced ground clearance. On top of that, a sleeker roof would make it look sexier and give it better stability, and a larger rear glass should elicit an illusion of a wider body (when viewed from the rear). Lastly, drop the faux twin exhaust because it looks pretty obvious.

MG brags that it has a fighter jet-inspired cockpit. I have never been in a fighter jet as the closest I have been was while watching ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ so I’ll take their word for it.

The dashboard is sleek, with switches that are just the right size to match the cockpit design. The plastic surface could be better, but the diamond-design accent that runs along the middle gives it a certain level of sophistication. The matching slim infotainment system is laid out horizontally and sits on top of a silver ledge with toggles to switch between the different menus of the 10-inch floating monitor. Designers gave the layout some thought to ensure every detail matches the image they have of the GT.

I single out the instrument cluster because of its different look and feel. I get a Chevy (think Spark) or a moto vibe from it, even if it sports a 12.3-inch virtual display with a digital speedometer and tachometer. The unique thing about it is the red linear gauges on either side that goes up and down depending on the speed and RPM.

Each front seat has bolsters for a snug fit, which is why it appears small at first. It cradles the torso very well, which helps keep the body in place during aggressive driving, but I wish the seat bottoms were just a bit longer for more thigh support. It has leather upholstery, red stitching, and quilting on the backrest.

There are two USB ports in front, one for charging and the other for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It also has Bluetooth audio streaming. The third USB port is at the back, beside the rear air vents.

The flat-bottom multi-function leather steering wheel feels great. It is just the right size and enhances the vehicle’s sporty personality. It has tilt adjustment but does not have telescopic features. Behind it are the paddle shifters and three stalks that include cruise controls.

I like its current interior equipment and the power sunroof is not a regular sight in the segment; that gives it a leg up over the competition. More premium cabin materials would be better, and throw in more padded surfaces too. The six-speaker system sounds good, but maybe too good in some parts because I can feel the vibration of the panels from the door speaker when I turn up the volume.

What is impressive about this vehicle is its small displacement 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine that makes 161 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Drive goes to the wheels via a seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox. Throttle response is drive mode dependent. Normal is the default mode, and it feels pretty mild-mannered. The vehicle’s weight is more palpable as it rises steadily to the desired speed.

Switching modes was a little tricky as there was a button on the center stack. The paddle shifter also did not have an effect. Only when I toggled the gear shifter back did it shift to Sport, and vice versa. Acceleration is slightly more abrupt, but I love the sound it makes. Instead of the typical rumble, which you will not get anyway because it only has four cylinders, there is a thrilling throttling-up sound that rises in the cabin the faster I went.

Handling is not too light, but despite its good power-to-weight ratio, it is not as agile. That is partly due to soft suspension and high ground clearance. Its height raises the center of gravity which -together with the ride height- is why there is a significant amount of body roll when cornering.

If you want to sort that out, get a new set of coilover suspensions or a lowering kit (if there are any available). But there is a benefit to keeping it suspension setup stock. This soft type has more comfort versus rigid setups that offer sporty handling. It keeps road harshness levels down, and unless you plan to drive it aggressively, there is no need to modify it.

It has a forward collision warning and lane departure warning, but my favorite is the 360-degree vehicle view camera. It shows the vehicle's position relative to external obstacles, while the forward camera lets me park face-front as close to the wall as possible.

If you plan to take it for a weekend trip, the trunk space is 40 inches long and 53 inches wide. It looks big enough to store a couple of check-in luggage and several overnight bags.

At PHP 1,193,888, the 2023 MG GT Sport TST certainly has qualities befitting a compact sports sedan. It may not corner like the Civic RS but its higher torque lets it take off with a bit more bravado. This second-generation model is already on the right track with its powertrain. A few more updates in the MG GT and it can give the segment a run for its money.

2023.06.10 21:50 Ok-Season-7010 Honda unicorn post

Some of the issues i faced and it might be certain to this bike or all of them: 2nd gear drive in bumper traffic isn't good and first gear is required. Heating issue, Slight tick noise when sudden movement of handlebar(i raised this issue there as well but my family ignored it).. Gear gets stuck when quick donwshifting(not happens everytime) and mileage is just around 40 and nothing above it but it's a new bike so i can just wait. **But the most embarassing issue is the rear suspension making so much noise like an old maruti van. It's really horrible. What should i do the bike doesn't even have it's number plate and just 130kms done and a week old. Honda is now the worst brand in the Indian market they are too proud of themselves and need to touch some grass.

2023.06.10 19:41 YungJDubz420 Dealer tells me issues on new car isn't covered

I purchased a 2022 Honda Civic from a dealership in Southern California last March. I live in Northern California so I have been getting the car serviced at another dealership nearby my place. Couple months ago, a warning for adaptive cruise control failure popped up on my dashboard and has been there since then. Since I never use the cruise control, I figured I'd just wait till I get my car serviced again to get it checked out.
My car recently hit 15000 miles so last week I took my car in for service (oil change) and was told that the express service guys can't help me look at the problem with the cruise control so the adviser scheduled a regular service for me this Saturday. After the express service last week, I was told that my rear shock absorbers are leaking also and they will look at it when I bring it in today.
I brought my car to the dealer to get it checked out today, and was told that the rear shock absorbers that's leaking don't fall under the warranty. I asked the adviser that since the part isn't supposed to fail within a year and half and 15000 miles why is it not covered? I was essentially told that since the part isn't supposed to fail that quickly I must have done something to break it so it isn't covered. By that logic what is the point of having warranty? If any part fails they can just cliam "oh it isn't supposed to fail so you must have done something and borke it:"
For issue with the adaptive cruise control, they told me that they need to do a diagnostics to figure out which part is causing the issue. If the part that's causing the issue falls under warrnty and they'll fix it for free. If not, they are going to charge me for just the diagnostics alone.
I was also told that the extended warranty I had purchased from the from the SoCal dealership is through a third party and that third party isn't a partner with the NorCal Honda so it's basically useless.
I left my car at the dealership to do the diagnostics and I am waitinfg for them to call me back. I am just so frustrated with this whole situation and I need some advice on how I should proceed. If they call me back and tells me the part that is causing the adaptive cruise control to fail doesn't fall under warranty what should I do? Also what can I do about the whole third party extended warranty situation?
I apologize for the long post and any help is appreciated!

2023.06.10 03:24 CloudyMcRowdy '23 WRX or mk7 Golf R?

The R has 60k on it, DSG, they want 26.5k usd. WRX is a base model, brand new, 6-speed, 32k.
We are getting rid of the '22, civic sport hatch 6m, can't stand its lack of power, and mine must be a lemon or some bs because it's the worst standard trans ice ever driven, and some of the roughest suspension I've ever felt...
Looking for a sporty, fun-to-drive car, that's fairly reliable. I know the golf R is typically more reliable than the wrx, but I feel like if they were both babies then it'd be a pretty fair match-up. My wife wants an automatic, but wants the wrx more than the R, due to the awd in it. No cvt options at the dealer for 6+ months, and honda finally quit trying to screw me on my lease and they're going to buy it outright. So we have to act now, a golf R won't last more than a few days around here. Neither will a base model WRX.
Personally, I'm completely split. I dont care which one we get. Theyre both quick enough for me.
Wrx has a lot more room in the trunk, especially with passengers, and will be a bit better in the snow, which we get quite a bit of... But, the Golf R is auto. She can drive it. I've had a gti, and they're tame until you don't want it to be. The wrx seemed to be the same... golf r has a lot more options and a slightly lower price, but isn't available on a lease, and may cost more / month because of that. The 60k miles isn't a big deal, we max out at 10k per year, and the car is really only for the next few years, but we will likely keep the golf r til it dies if we buy it. WRX we would likely get rid of after the lease is up, if not sooner, to get an automatic.
I would love to hear what yall have to say. The subaru seems to be a little more practical, but has a lot less options, like built-in navigation, heated seats, back-seat vents, etc. And my 06 gti never had any electrical issues, and I beat tf out of it... so the extra comfort/luxury in the golf r evens them out in my eyes.
Pls help lmao

2023.06.10 02:31 Full_Ad_7412 Window tint

I’m not sure where to ask this but this seems like a good spot to. I drive a Honda civic and the person who owned it before put tints on all the windows. I took all the tints off except the rear back window because i don’t want to ruin the defrosters. So my questions is do police officers really look at rear back windows or just the all the other windows? I live in MN so i’m not sure what the laws are for this.

Rubbery thing went MIA?
Hi there, I recently noticed that my right side is suddenly missing some rubber part, showing some white stuff (holding my Windshield in place I presume). Any idea what it is called, and if I can DIY it? Honda civic 2007. My car mechanics expertise is as far as changing out my air filters. Thank you!

2023.06.09 18:50 KJdigzgutz What car shops can rewire taillights

The tire popped on my 07 Honda civic, and eve since then all my rear lights and my digital speedometer have been out, I can see broken wires near my right tire.
I went to pep boys and there were no help, they told me to find a shop that can wire a car.
But no shop lists “car rewiring” as one of their services, only electrical. Pep boys listed electrical as a service too and they don’t do wiring, so I have no way of finding a shop that can help rewire my car. I called 5 auto shops that list “electrical repair” as a service, and none of them could do wiring

(2007 honda civic) the noise is on the passenger side when I accelerate from a stop around when I release the clutch, hard braking, and sometimes over hard bumps. I thought the passenger side torque strut was bad but it’s not and I can’t figure it out. Please help, can post send video if needed.

2023.06.09 04:27 TheBrain511 10th Gen Civic 1.5T vs 2.0

Looking around for a new car to replace my old 2007 chevy aveo. Currently looking at getting a honda civic ex or the sport models . The models would be used one ex model looking at is from 2017 while the sport is from 2019. both are under 80k miles and no accident according to car fax. Only a mechanic will actually be able to tell itf it legit but thought i would throw it out there.
I've done a bit of research honestly feel like the 2.0 just seems more reliable long term.
Background around me im an auditor for my state so I do travel alot for work I would say 20 to 34 miles give or take which some of the longer trips being an hour away.
Although i will be getting work at home privileges in October so my travel to the office which is 20 minutes away from my house would be reduced although it would depend on if i get the information i need electronically or not
Outside of that Im ahomebodyy honestly I pickup groceries, orthodontist, go out to bars with my friends on the weekends not alot though.
Been thinking of getting back into doordash as a side hustle but getting realtors license would be a better use of my time than waring my car down doing that
I live in Indiana so it can get extremely hot and extremely cold Im not in the hilly part of my state its pretty flat
With my current car do get my maintenance done regularly given the car isn't exactly economically friendly at all honestly just sucking me like a leech and with my job requiring travel a new car is necessary figured go with one of the most reliable brands out there
I plan on owning the car for the next 10 years hopefully or well until the wheels fall off. Dont plan on doing any mods no tunes only thing i would change out honestly would be the radio and installing a joying radio.
I've read that 1.5 have issues of oil dilution although it seems to have gotten better with 2019 and beyond and the AC system kinda ironic the ac system would be bad on a modern car but those are two basic issues ive seen where it caused people to sell their civics or pay thousands in repairs
I havent read to many issues with the transmission seems good on that front but if anyone has dealt with issues with transmission i would like to hear about it.

1975 AMC Pacer Tested: A Fresh-Faced Novelty
From the Archive: A small car for people who don't think they like small cars.

From the June 1975 issue of Car and Driver.

There is an excitement-generating quality about American Motors' new Pacer that calls to mind the days when we spent most of the fall frothing at Detroit's new cars as they appeared one by one in our hometown showrooms. The Pacer is lovable, and you feel an instinctive urge to take it home—like a rubber ducky, to put in your bathtub to play with. Detroit has finally issued a car to which people are reacting.

The Pacer was supposedly designed from the inside out, the theory being that claustrophobic Americans who have thus far resisted small cars with small interiors will go along with a car that is essentially an intermediate with the ends lopped off. If early indications are to be relied upon, the theory is sound. The car seems destined to sell well, if for no other reason than that the buying public seems ready for a new approach to motoring. This the Pacer is. Regarded as a beginning step in the proper direction, the Pacer is as encouraging an offering as Detroit has produced in some time.

For once, an automobile advertising campaign is telling the unvarnished truth: A large man is completely comfortable in the driver's seat or as a front-seat passenger. There is ample legroom, and were it not for the fact that your left knee comes to rest against the window crank, matters would leave little to be desired. The steering wheel is well placed and provides the driver with the proper amount of elbow crook; every control is not only within reach but also visible and readable.

The same big man can survive in a condition approaching comfort in the rear seat, too. Average-size people will find the rear seat at least as comfortable and roomy as those to be found in the new "precision-size" cars. Compared to the rear compartment of such cars as the Chevy Monza and Ford Mustang II, the Pacer appears to have the proportions of a ballroom. Headroom is the only dimension lacking, but in light of its other benefits, the rear area is still a minor triumph.

Interior finish in the Pacer is attractive, if rather utilitarian, and consists largely of molded plastic panels. The dashboard sits well away from the seats, lending reinforcement to the already considerable atmosphere of spaciousness. The front seats are large, well-proportioned, and sturdy; the rear seats, like all rear seats, are certainly not as comfortable but are more than serviceable—certainly an improvement over the average small-car rear seat. With a body area that's almost one-third glass, visibility is one of the car's strongest suits.

Looking at the innovative Pacer silhouette, it's easy to conjure up visions of scooting through traffic like a family-size Honda Civic. Sadly, this is not the case. There are two engines available in the Pacer, both inline-sixes (232 and 258 cubic inches). If you demand head-snapping acceleration, neither is equal to the task.

If, however, you are content to motor along in a sane and economical fashion, all is not lost. The Pacer will handle this kind of service easily, if unspectacularly. But it is slow enough to make it all too obvious that the fun, the outright enjoyment, its peppy appearance promises simply is not there. Certainly not with the larger engine and the Chrysler-built three-speed automatic. With this powertrain, the Pacer took 20.4 seconds to negotiate the quarter-mile, attaining a speed of only 65.8 mph.

The Pacer's steering, handling, and ride are traditionally American. Rack-and-pinion steering has been made a part of the Pacer's standard equipment, but it has been damped to the point of numbness. The car's front cross-member is damped and insulated also, both from the body and from the engine, to help lower the noise level. If ride quality concerns you, you will find the Pacer excellent. While there is admitted insulation from the road, the sensation is not at all like a wallowing full-size car with mushy suspension—it is like a good, well-ordered intermediate car.

The Pacer's handling suffers a bit from its weight (3432 pounds) and its high center of gravity, which contribute to the car's pronounced understeer in low-speed cornering. The short wheelbase and wide track do, however, aid high-speed maneuvering.

The Pacer's braking could stand improvement, again because of the car's high gravity center and heaviness. There is an alarming amount of dive under hard braking, giving you the impression that the front bumper is about to tuck under and roll up. The Pacer required 205 feet to stop from 70 mph. By comparison, a Mazda stops in 192 feet while the Mustang II, another middleweight, takes 213 feet of pavement. The car appears set up for optimum braking with a full load, which ought to be reconsidered in light of prevailing motoring habits. With too much rear brake bias, the rear wheels tend to lock. More bias on the front discs would probably help.

Here's what to consider if the Pacer personality appeals to you: You'll get a car made largely from proven components; a car that you can enter or exit without braining yourself; a car that you can sit in and see out of with ease and enjoyment; a car that is pleasing to operate and offers reasonable economy. Granted, you will not get eye-popping acceleration and sports-car handling, but you will get a car that is a new design representing a new approach to American motoring. The small car for the person who doesn't like small cars may at last be in our midst.

2023.06.09 03:41 Even_Month_7377 30,M, 80k Salary, 80k in savings, No retirement, 1 child

Hello,
Location is bay area California.
I make about 80k a year (pre-tax), have about 80k in savings, 10k value in ESPP stock, potential 50k in unexercised stock, no retirement account, no debt.
I live with my partner and 4 year child in my parents home. We aren't married. she makes about 50k.
My 2007 Honda civic (130k miles) is currently experiencing transmission problems which will cost around 5k to fix.
What should I be doing to secure my financial future? I suppose opening up a Roth IRA is the first step?
Also, if it is advisable to fix the civic or buy an new car outright
Thank you

2023.06.09 01:54 hrisnuxnwuao123 Window goes down but not up

Trying to fix a window issue (rear driver's side) on a 1998 Honda civic. Tried replacing the regulator assembly and master switch but that didn't work. I know the switch there works because I tried moving it to the other side and then it functioned. What could be the issue? Is it wiring?

2023.06.08 21:25 Even_Month_7377 Spend 4k to Fix 2007 Honda civic LX or Buy GR86

My 2007 Honda Civic (Manual transmission) is experiencing synchro wear (metal shavings found in clutch fluid) and having trouble getting it into gear. I was quoted ~4.5K for the entire transmission replacement ( assembly, bushings, flywheel, plate, etc).
It's at 130k miles and doesn't has any other major issues besides the transmission.
My question is if it is worth the 4.5k to fix this car?

IF it isn't worth the cost to fix my civic, what are some good cars to look into?
I make ~80k salary with good credit.
~35k is my max budget and the car needs to be a 2+2/4 seater and manual transmission.
I'm looking into new GR86 but not opposed to looking into cheaper cars.

2023.06.08 17:49 yethany 2000-2005 rear honda civic seats removal

So I've been online searching for a video or even some instruction on how to remove the whole rear seats in my 2004 civic. I can't seem to find a video or any help. There are a bunch of videos on how to remove the bottom part of the seat but I can't find anything for the top. I'm asking for some help if anybody has an idea on how to do that. The thing is an ex of mine helped me remove the seats but now I have no clue on how to put them in. I'm missing a few parts so I need to know how to remove the seats at the junkyard and not only that I'm not sure if I need to use the key to the car to remove the seat. It has been a struggle. So please let me know, thank you :')

also - its an lx coupe if that's important

2023.06.08 17:48 conkynator Hit and run - Block Line and Homer Watson

Hey everyone, I was rear ended by a black pick up truck today (June 8) at 11:20am at the round about. The guy exited his car and then fled the scene. If anyone has any info about the car or has any footage please let me know. I was driving a Grey Honda civic. Thank you in advance
EDIT: he exited his car, saw the damage, then went back into the car and fled the scene.
