2023.03.23 09:24 hunterRozen This email was 3 years ago a week before my 24th birthday I’ve broken up with this boyfriend thought last year after 2 years the email was sent to me ex pastor his brother and their father
2023.03.23 09:23 ItsTooMuchRightNow Not sure what to do about my living situation.
Hello I'm here seeking advice about my situation. My mom died about 3 months ago and I've never had a job in my life. I did get my social security card and a new ID. I've went to a temp agency and it's been a little over a month and they still have nothing for me.
A pastor at a church near me has been helping me the last month and a half. The church is in walking distance from where I am.
A couple of days ago my roommates boyfriend hit her and I called the police, nothing happened to him and he's been taunting me since. He's a drug addict and has an unregistered gun. I don't feel safe where I'm at and I'm running out of options.
The pastor at church said that they might get me into teen challenge. Looking into though I really don't know if it's something I want to do. Also it's not a guarantee. I don't know if I should go into a homeless shelter but the one in my area is far away and I don't have a car or bike.
Family members that I called said they can't do anything for me. Maybe if I beg but I don't know.
I'm lost and I really don't know what to do.
What are my options? Teen challenge, homeless shelter or living ok the streets.
I feel so defeated. Any advice is welcome.
Thank you.

2023.03.23 09:22 borg-assimilated 40 [M4F] #Columbus, OH Getting back into the dating scene. I'm awkward and shy in-person. I'm both an introvert and an extrovert. I can be the life of a party around large crowds but I clam up when I’m sitting across from a girl I like. I enjoy going out but I rather stay home.
It's been a while since I did the whole online dating thing. My last relationship was 7 years ago and I'm ready to get back into it.
First off, I'm HORRIBLE with making profiles or describing myself. I thought I knew what I wanted but as life goes on I realize that those things change, but some things don't. I need somebody who is positive and uplifting, who absolutely loves to laugh and can just get lost in laughter. I would like to think I'm a funny guy but I'm pretty sure I think I'm way more funnier than I am. lol I want to be able to feel free to be my goofy self around somebody. I'm only interested in dating somebody local to me, within an hour's-ish drive.
Everybody has something that they look for in a person. Some people like physical features, such as beauty or a fit body, and some others look for personality features such as intelligence or humorless, and lots of people like the combination of both sets of features. As for me, I'm attracted to tiny, goofy women, who have character, intelligence and are funny. I love humor in a woman. I would love to find somebody who loves to travel and is a tradesman. I would like to have an age gap when dating, but it's not at all a deal breaker. I'm open to dating anybody any age but I have a preference, if possible, to not date somebody more than 5 years older than me, but that too is not a deal breaker.
Some information about me... I live in Central Ohio, I'm a weird, goofy, white male, 40 years of age, bearded, and a Christian, although I haven't been to church in a while (probably 3-5 years). I'm okay dating Christian and non-Christian people. I'm looking to date women or anybody who identifies as woman or fem. I'm not interested in dating men -at-all-. I'm looking to date that leads to a long term relationship, and possibly marriage. I love traveling, I love my dog, I love working on projects when I can, and I love "That's what she said" jokes. lol I live in a house with 2 other women to whom I am not related or dating. I've lived here for the last 13 years and I'll move out here at some point soon. I've been thinking about moving somewhere but I don't know where to move to yet.
Some things I enjoy are syfy movies and shows such as Stargate, Salvation, Star Trek, Marvel movies, and I also like some non-syfy stuff like I Love Lucy, Jack Ryan, and The Carbonaro Effect. Do you know what The Carbonaro Effect is? Well, it's the name of a hidden camera... magic... tv show, just like the one you're on right now. :) I'm also a gamer. I used to stream and had a decent following. I'm slowly getting back into it, although it's not really my passion anymore. Some friends are coming over on Saturday to clean out our basement and I am going to convert the non-finished area into a finished basement and make a sweet gaming space out of it. I have my own income, and I have my own car, which I absolutely love but wish it didn't break down so much. :( I'm going to be traveling here in April to a family reunion, something that our family has never had but something I wanted for a while now and everybody's schedule finally meshed. Yay!
I know that online dating can be scary so I'm open to chatting online for a while before eventually meeting in person. I am NOT looking for a solely online relationship, been there, done that, never again. I will want to meet somebody in person within the first month or so of meeting them online.
I don't know what else to say. lol I'm terrible at this kind of stuff but I'll update this (if I can) when I think of more stuffs to add. Feel free to message me if you like. I look forward to hearing from you. :)

2023.03.23 09:21 OpenACann Jesus's Attitude towards Psychedelic Drugs
This question is directed to people who have used a psychedelic drug. I have used LSD and mushrooms off and on over the years to delve into my spirit, where my conscious mind cannot experience. I have had several profound experiences on psychedelics, not necessarily getting high, but looking into my spirit and catching a glimpse of what's in there. I am a very spirutual person who struggles with faith in religion, and that's mostly because of all the near-death experiences I've researched that contradict God's judgement at time of death. It's obvious that recreational or street drugs are more harmful than not, and God would not want to see us abusing ourselves this way. Psychedelics are different in that they are not harmful to our bodies and help us touch spiritual existence, in a clear way we can't understand in our "sober conscious" for lack of a better word. Drugs weren't part of life in ancient Israel. But to those of you who feel you truly know Jesus Christ, and have used psychedelics, what do you think he would feel about it? I do know He was very much against alcohol abuse and gluttony, but that's all he touches on regarding drugs. We have learned over time that Jesus had so much knowledge he didn't share in his time here, so none of us can say for certain. Again, only answers from people who have used psychedelics are needed.

2023.03.23 09:11 Miserable_Marsupial4 This game destroys the witcher 3 and people who think otherwise are ignorant
The witcher 3 is a big open world with an amazing story but you know what will always be objectively better then any amazing story …. Making your own story and Jesus Christ I hate Gerald so god damn much I’ve tried getting into the witcher 3 3-5 times.
Skyrim is a smaller game with more to do weapons are way more satisfying to obtain and builds are the most fun part.
People with video games now days only look at stories at that point you should be watching a movie. Every build in the witcher is the same every weapon is a silver sword and there is zero and I mean zero satisfaction to the witcher 3. Boring basic fantasy bosses boring weapons and boring landscape. Witcher has no cool dungeons although for some reason witcher fans claim the same about skyrim which is extremely false. I hate where gaming is going cool weapons = cool builds= fun game. I’ve never understood how people like the witcher it’s always bothered me so much that I have purchased it 3 times to try and get into it on diffrent consoles. But it’s not skyrim. If games aren’t endlessly playable they suck.

2023.03.23 09:09 nzlotrfan My Problems with SCJ reflection written one night from the vault
I was just browsing through my old SCJ folder in my computer and I found my word document titled "problems I have" that I wrote back in Jan 2018.. Gosh, so long ago. It's a random collection of thoughts and questions that I wrote one night while I was a bit depressed in SCJ. Anyway, I just thought I'd post it in case it's helpful to anyone else, otherwise it will just stay dormant and unseen in the deep dark vaults of my laptop!
"Problems I have as at Jan, 2018
- We are told to ask questions and seek answers. I vividly remember asking a question in Rev class in our review group, I even remember what the question was. And as I was still working full time at that point, I was tired so albeit I may have missed it in the class. But after I asked my question about what something was, the review teacher said "{name}! It was so clear in the class. Can anyone else explain what it means to {name}?" I remember feeling so embarrassed. As asking questions in front of others is difficult enough as it is I find. But since then, I refrained asking genuine questions again. Then months later, there was a lot of talk about asking questions, and seeing as I had garnered a number of questions in my book, I though I need to get this sorted out. So I did. However, upon making meetings with my cell leader and department leader, I was advised that either my questions weren't important, or given an answer that didn't really answer my question so I was still confused/not confident of the answer. I tried on a few occasions to inform people that I was struggling with rocks. From other members through to my cell leader at one point even sharing with my cell leader my real testimony. But I was still unable to get my questions answered despite my emotional plea. What's also hard is that around that time we were told that we could only ask questions to cell leader. However, I saw on a few occasions some members asking like the GSN's questions, I felt conflicted about this. I finally decided to break structure and ask one of my questions to another member who actually answered my question well. But informed me that it wasn't right for us to do this.
- I was also told by both my department leader and cell leader on separate occasions that I could join the next centre opening without a fruit and that they would check and let me know. They did not. I waited patiently for weeks and didn't hear anything.
- On a few occasions I have been told one thing, but then people didn't follow through.
- I feel that questions are difficult to ask here, and that if something is wrong it's hard to bring it up. Ie I was told one thing about John 1:1-5 by one of my cell leaders, and then a few weeks later I heard in a class by the GSN a completely different explanation. But because they're your leader, it feels difficult to say "I think you've misunderstood this verse."
- Here if you're upset with someone you're supposed to suck it up – contain them. It just doesn't make sense to me, I think what made my relationships so rich and good with say my close family, is that we had a culture of being honest and open. If something was said that was offensive or hurtful (which didn't happen often), then you should mention it, so we can all learn, grow as a person, and grow closer to each other. Everytime I would do that with my sister / brother in law, it was great as we truly understood each other and how the other person operated so we could move forward in understanding.
- We were told to harvest recently in twos. However, sometimes we still go harvesting individually? What if you're out alone doing shopping, and you spot someone you think could be worth EVing – do you not EV them because you're by yourself? I should have asked about this one, admittedly. But I've gone EVing by myself and have had bad experiences that I want to talk to someone about, but I feel I can't because I will just get rebuked for going out on my own instead. I tend to just expect rebuke instead of good advice.
- I have to hide my true story. I hate how I've got this burden of bisexuality. I have this story. And I can't share it with anyone. It remains still properly untold. I did however share the bulk of it with one of my cell leaders, but. I don't know. I guess I was expecting a counselling session. I need to talk to someone about this and go in depth to understand this. I tried seeing a counsellor about this, twice, before SCJ but never actually spoke about it. And now in SCJ I just have to suck it up. I've tried that, and I cannot do it. I've got all of this stuff inside of me. Everytime I go out harvesting, it's there. It's there. No one knows. No one understands. Because everyone else is EV'ing generally the same gender. How am I to deal with this? I need to talk to a counsellor. I need to know why I am like this. Why do I long to be in the arms of an attractive man? Why do I desire it? Why did God bring me in here if he knew I was going to do this? My whole ex Babylon church knew I struggled with this in the past. Admittedly they also didn’t handle it well. But I just wish I could get some peace and understanding with this rather than just hide it, don’t talk about it, deal with it on your own. I know gsn is there but I feel like a burden to him enough as it is. And I don’t think he really wants to hear my whole story anyhow. And fair enough it is unusual. But I need to share it and talk about it in a deeper sense. To get some closure.
- I wish this place truly truly welcomed questions where you could ask freely. There is so much I am confused about. I don't understand so much. I don't know what applies to today, what doesn't. I have doubts sometimes that verses are being used correctly sometimes, from what I remember from Babylon days. Sometimes the Babylon answer seems more correct in my head. But I know I'm bad for thinking this way. Hence I am confused.
- And since recently during special forces, it has been really good. However, I struggle to pick people to EV who I don't find attractive. I have gotten a lot better now though, at picking people to talk to I don't find attractive. However, sometimes I don't do this. It's especially hard when I EV on my own. Before SCJ days when I was younger, I used to roam the streets with my phone app looking for guys to hook up with. Maybe that's why I find it difficult to EV now on my own. Because it is reminiscent of this. As a result I get frustrated because my mind starts thinking like this. And I feel like I can't do anything at the time, leaving me feeling down at the end of EV.
- Then as of more recently, it's gotten to me more and more, perhaps because I've been EVing for long periods of time.
- I don't read the word as often recently, because I fear of getting too confused as I read along. Back in Babylon I used to google straight away, but obviously we shouldn't here. But then if questions don't get answered... well. Confusing.
- QUESTION: we were told on a few occasions that passing the 75Q test was the difference between heaven and hell? But I thought that if we were here in SCJ we had come to the mountain, the place of salvation. I would have thought it was the difference between GM and 144000. But not hell? I don't understand that.
- QUESTION: Jesus would drive out demons / evil spirits. But didn't they everyone back then have evil spirits? So when Jesus would drive out evil spirits of one person because they were acting strangely, the other people just didn't realise that they also had evil (but perhaps less noticable) spirits inside of them too. Correct?
- QUESTION: tithing was originally not money. (Lev 27:30). Why do we tithe money now? Is it compulsory to tithe 10%? If not, why not, shouldn't it be? Are we supposed to tithe both Wednesday and Sunday?
- While I appreciate that I now have nullified any chance of it now, I had always wondered why, up until this time, I have not been asked to sing in praise team or anything. Or even help in media when I am good with media.
- I don't like it how I was given a duty in choir to lead warm ups, but then sometimes my duty was just ignored. Jarrod would just do my duty for me. I would always feel so conflicted and sad as a result. Is it because I'm not doing a good job? If so, tell me. Is it because you want some specific type of warm up? If so, tell me. When you just do it yourself, I feel less than. Makes me wonder why you asked me in the first place.
- I hate it how parenting techniques of the world seem to be better than that of parenting techniques in SCJ. The parenting and attitudes towards children here sometimes, are that of old fashioned/uninformed methods of parenting. With the plethora of psychological studies out there in the world, it is difficult to see that better techniques aren't used in SCJ. However, it was actually briefly brough up in EV education about 'Emotional based parenting' and that was great. I personally have witnessed this with my sister and her children. And it is amazing. I am sad that it isn't used by others here.
- QUESTION: What actually is sin? Anything that is not God's will? So we sin when we watch TV, chill out etc. What is sin? Different levels of sin? Personal sin that we commit everyday. Inherited sin (from Adam). Transgression of the law 3:4 (this is Mosaic law?) - but we don't adhere to this right. We do not sin by adhering to Jesus' commands to love one another, and love God which is the summation of say the 10 commandments and all of the additional laws. Correct?
- QUESTION: Actual definition of John 3:16
- I don’t think people truly care here. When I lost Seth I was so sad, I think I was expecting deep support. But it basically felt like everyone was just saying to move on quickly. If only it were that easy when one’s heart is involved!
- Should I feel guilty for sin? What should I feel? I’ve watched Christian motivational videos before and they’re like stop feeling guilty. Jesus paid for your sins etc. Should I dwell on my sin. What should I feel? Coz I feel really crap. And I don’t want to confess it.
- I don’t know to what degree I should be honest with cell leader. For all I know everything that’s important gets passed along the chain. Yet you’re who I am supposed to be most honest and most vulnerable with? It’s difficult to do that. But then you don’t want to be a burden on other members etc..
- I also feel that we’re encouraged to not share too deeply our struggles with one another. Like this big long message which I’m sure I’ll never share."

I made my own plaster Jesus
with 8 fingers and 20 ribs
on bad days
I make his wounds deeper, bloodier
red paint comes in handy
dripping slowly on the floor
there’s holiness
in the absence of thumbs and ribs
and psalmic melodies of drip drip drip
my father used to say
everyone has to pay for their sins
even gods made of plaster
my Jesus dying slowly
on the wall of my bedroom

2023.03.23 08:53 Churchthowaway Does God kill people off when he gets tired of them messing up?
Okay so I already posted this the Christianity sub but only a couple responses gave me insight and I am still stuck.
Growing up a pastor preached on how God just kills us off if we mess up too much and he gets tired of us. And how if we get into a bad accident or have health issues it is a warning that God is getting tired of us and if we don't clean up our lives he will kill us off.
My question is can someone please explain this and give verses and all that stuff to back it up.
I know he wiped the earth with Noah and there are a bunch of other old testament stories of him doing this. But I am confused because we aren't in the old testament anymore. And also if this was true wouldn't we all be dead? We are all sinners and we all mess up. I don't understand how we supposedly know that God gives people terminal cancer or kills them in a car accident because he was tired of them. Cant someone get cancer for other reasons, and cant someone live a horrible sinful life for longer than what would be considered too much? And while he is a just God doesn't he also have grace and mercy and sent Jesus to cover our sins? How do we know God's plan?
It was a fundamentalist baptist pastor who preached this, but they followed a lot of Calvinist theology so I thought someone here might have an explanation for this belief. Thank you!

2023.03.23 08:52 UnDead_Ted Standing Strong Through The Storm
OPEN AND CLOSED DOORS
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 The Bible has much to say about open doors but many times – even as Christians – we seem to face obstacles on our path and in our ministry. Blocked doors can be VERY frustrating. Yet God often uses closed doors to advance His cause.
Bible teachers like Max Lucado remind us that God closed the womb of a young Sarah so he could display His power to the elderly one. He shut the palace door on Moses the prince so he could open shackles through Moses the liberator. He marched Daniel out of Jerusalem so he could use Daniel in Babylon.
And even Jesus knew the challenge of a blocked door. When he requested a path that bypassed the cross, God said no. He said no to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane so He could say yes to us at the gates of heaven.
It’s not that our plans are bad but that God’s plans are better. A prayer is circulating on the Internet that expresses it this way:
He asked for strength that he might achieve,
he was made weak that he might endure;
He asked for health to do larger things,
he was given infirmity that he might do better things;
He asked for power that he might impress men,
he was given weakness that he might seek God;
He asked for wealth that he might be free from care,
he was given poverty that he might be wiser than carefree.
He asked for all things that he might enjoy life,
he was given life that he might enjoy all things;
He received nothing he asked for.
He received more than he ever hoped for.
His prayer was answered!
Blessed man!
The shortest distance between a closed and open door is the distance between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels to the Lord can stand up to anything.
RESPONSE: Today I will accept that my blocked door doesn’t mean God doesn’t love me. Quite the opposite. I’ll see it as proof that He does. PRAYER: Thank You Lord that You know best and have even better plans for me and my service for You. Help me wait patiently for You to open the right door at the right time! submitted by

2023.03.23 08:50 Basic_Observer “Individualism and the Event Horizon of Life. “
A simple phrase can say so much. To truly understand and live by that phrase can take a life time. Embracing the meaning can set you on a path few may truly fully explore. Offered here are shared insights to help you on your own journey of self-discovery. For we all must explore this phrase to truly understand just who we are.
An expanded discussion of Initial Statement 1 & 2: The simplest answer is the best coupled with questioning, observation and understanding
We will discuss both of these at the same time. The “simplest answer is the best” is a popular concept and practice in science. In the exploration of new areas of study many questions are asked, observations made and in time understanding come.
In some instances, absolute truth cannot be revealed. Here the most reasonable answer is generally accepted as the most likely truth. What may complicate this search for truth is the ability to separate out personal biases. Human ego often interferes in our search.
Humans are inquisitive beings. Our mental capabilities exceed what is needed for basic survival. We ponder the world around us seeking to understand our place in the world we see. We will return to this topic later as it concerns how man strives to fill in the blanks, those gaps between the observed and the questioned. A warning though this is one of those dangerous topics that will be very unsettling for some. For now, let’s just say that many of man’s religious constructs are hardly the simplest of answers to that which cannot be directly observed.
For now, let’s settle on this basic simple premise. All that we see in the world is the result of some force of nature. Gravity, electro-magnetic, Strong and weak forces (at the level of the atom) these are those basic forces in the universe. All that we see is a construct in some fashion of these basic forces.
An expanded discussion of Initial Statement 3: The event horizon of life, this is a fundamental concept that we can first explore as it is very much the beginning of all other paths that we will take.
We should think of life as a force, just like any other force science now names. How do we know it exists? Simply observe and look for the probable simplest answer. Science acknowledges that gravity is a force as we can see its action. While we cannot see the actual force of gravity we can see its effect. The same is true for the force that is life. Why should organic molecules assemble together to form individual cells? Why do those cells assemble into actual multi-celled organisms? Just as gravity pulls objects towards one another is it not reasonable to assume that some force is acting at a molecular level to cause the cellular structures that we observe in our world? The force of life seems to have expression in creating the complex organic structures, cellular structures giving rise to the many varied forms of individual beings and forms of life we see all around. The expression of this force is one that directionally builds up complex individual beings whereas all other physical forces tend to slow down and lose energy over time.
The energy that is Life moves in the opposite direction of the other physical forces. This universal force builds higher complex structures as opposed to the entropic tendencies of all other forces.
It is enough for now to leave this concept at this point for now. We will pick this line of thought up again later for deeper review.
We want to turn our attention now to what this fundamental concept implies. It is a foundational concept.
The following series of observations and discourse will be based on this basic idea – Life is a force, another force that is a part of the universe , we humans, just as all of life that we see, are an expression of that force.
Some basic thoughts that stem from this concept
· Our endeavors as humans should seek to nurture our individuality as well as nurturing all of life in its many forms
· We must embrace our natural being and all that follows while striving to nurture our spiritual potential and deepening our state of joy.
· We as individual physical beings will die. The subsequent existence of that essence of life that we hold within and as a part of this physical being is, as we can currently observe, is unknown. This premise does not matter. We humans can only focus on the expression of our spirit in the here and now regardless of tomorrow.
· All humans and to an extent all of life is the same. That same universal force that causes humans to be humans causes all other forms of life to be what they are. Consider this; that sense of joy and self- awareness that you possess is same in the person standing next to you. Just as you have hopes and fears so do they. There is no difference in the underlying being. Other life in nature also possess a measure of self-awareness, it is simply a matter of degree.
· Human insight is not under the sole ownership of anyone person or culture. Insight is passed on by all, deepened and rephrased though out time.
· Technology while beneficial is not the apex of the cosmos.
· Life probably is found elsewhere in the cosmos in those older regions of the vast expanse of the universe. Life may well be found in forms beyond our comprehension let alone our ability to observe.
· Humans probably are not the apex of life. Consciousness and self-awareness may well be that apex or at least the beginning of the path towards the ultimate expression of the force of life.
So, what is of importance?
Simply stated the here and now is of importance. The expression of that event horizon of life is all that truly exists. This is who we are. This is the unfolding of the universe. Nurture that expression. Let the force grow and mature in depth.
An expanded discussion of Initial Statement 4: Humans, as all forms of life, are creatures of nature. - Humans and their capacity for thought and self-awareness.
Humans are the product of eons of evolution. While we do not completely understand this process of evolution we can think of it as the force of life seeking to be expressed in the physical world. As a result, there are many forms of life that fill every possible niche in the environment. We can observe many forms of life in nature all with varying degrees of neurological development. It is within the neurological capacity that we see self-awareness and what we can assume to be one of the possible apexes of the force of life – self-awareness.
Humans and some higher mammals show the highest forms of self-awareness. Lesser mammals show awareness to a lesser degree. Behaviors can be observed that are reflective of the degree of self-awareness.
Much time and energy are devoted in nature to one’s survival. Most life forms have little of what would be considered “free-time”. When the needs for basic existence are readily available the behavior of a given life form will vary. Higher life forms have the capability to have awareness beyond mere physical survival. Many writings on the science of psychology are available to provide background on the many nuances of the human mind; suffice it to say that humans are capable of a wide range of behaviors, both healthy and unhealthy.
Humans show a large capacity of self-awareness. Other mammals do as well but that is beyond our immediate discussion. The opportunity to develop this human capacity is unfortunately often missed and many humans live a life lesser than it could be. Many are in search for understanding as they have self-awareness that is driving them to seek that understanding. Unfortunately, guidance to develop and nurture our self-awareness may be lacking.
Human emotional states are very much shaped by a variety of influences. Over a lifetime family and social circles and society as a whole, influences the emotional growth of its members.
Religious beliefs and churches serve as a primary source for the guidance of man’s sense of self and spiritual growth.
It is not the purpose of this writing to challenge the notion of most religions in that the ultimate objective of one’s earthly life is to be closer to God and to get to heaven. If this belief system provides you comfort, guidance and joy so be it. Unfortunately for many, current belief systems expressed by religions fall short. Some have ventured the thought that a fervent belief or that need to believe in the afterlife is driven by an internal crisis felt by an individual striving to cope with an overwhelming unrequited or un-mastered sense of self-awareness.
We will not challenge the beliefs of others by enumerating any perceived differences. We will focus on an alternative possible belief foundation.
Hence, another purpose for this writing, to provide guidance for the growth and maturing self-awareness that we all have. Once again, if the current religious beliefs you hold provide guidance for you, this writing is not meant to challenge your beliefs. It is intended for those that are seeking alternative or supplemental guidance.
This writing seeks to review a possible path to understanding.
An expanded discussion of Initial Statement Initial Statement 5: Growth can be difficult, all of us come from varied backgrounds and experiences, for some the journey may be difficult, yet it may be the most necessary and rewarding effort we can engage in.
To explore this statement various paths of reflection are offered.
Path of reflection to explore: “Embracing the Crucible and finding the natural rhythm of the world”
A crucible is a tool and a means to burn away impurities. In a fashion I find my own crucible to purge those negative influences that are roadblocks to the expression of spirit. You may need to find your own.
There is a natural rhythm of the world and of our spirit. Roadblocks are those influences that prevent the realization of that rhythm. The constructs of humans can either help or hinder.
Humans as natural creatures are basically the same as other creatures. We seek companionship. We seek to build not only relationships but skills to live in an ever-changing world. We seek to not only survive but hopefully to thrive and grow into a state of great Joy.
Many will start out on a journey of growth yet seem to tarry along the way and divert to an ending destination that is circular in nature and leads in truth nowhere. Questioning and observing stop and easy answers and out right falsehoods are accepted as fact. So many want easy answers to those core human questions. The important paths towards our understanding may be difficult, yet these paths review the deepest of truths.
We will not go into all the detailed nuances of human dynamics. We will though speak of the general nature of those dynamics.
From birth humans start on their journey. The journey is one that can take many paths. If fortunate the path has healthy role models and influences that are supportive and nurturing. Hopefully life unfolds in an honest truthful fashion.
An expanded discussion of Initial Statement 6: Being an Individual is a natural state of being
All living beings are individuals. Separate from one another, unique and distinct. Yes, we are all the same in form and function. We all have a measure of that same spirit, that same event horizon of life of spirit within us. But we are still separate from one another. We are individually driven to live our life, to express that force that makes us who we are.
As individuals what does that mean as to our existence? Do we only seek to survive, propagate the species, do we, as some religions profess seek to go to heaven after our life on earth is complete?
Consider these series of related statements:
· We are beings that arise from the expression of that force of life
· Nurturing that spirit will lead to a deepening sense of wellbeing – a state of joy if you will
· Becoming a strong individual with an awareness of who we are and allowing that spirit to be expressed is the natural course of things
· Our depth of understanding and the expression of the spirit seems to be unlimited
· From these basic ideas all else can be framed and defined
As you are out and about yourself observe the life around you. Humans that do not nurture the spirit lead a lesser existence. Unhealthiness surrounds them, toxic to themselves and others around them. It can be hard to ward off this influence but do so you must.
An expanded discussion of Initial Statement 7: We cannot see the far distance future of the cosmos just as we can only speculate as to its true beginning. This does not matter. We can only observe what we can now under the current conditions of the world we find ourselves in.
No more is there to be said on this statement. As you reflect on other paths and your own observations the meaning of this concept will become more apparent. A word of warning, this may well be one of the hardest insights to accept. All that really matters is the here and now. This very moment is all that truly exists.
A path of reflection to explore: are humans all that different than other forms of life?
The topic discussed here will be controversial for many. It will call into question the reader’s fundamental sense of self-identity. Please keep an open mind and take the time to reflect on the basic premise discussed. Humankind is simply only another form of life. Yes, we live more complicated lives and we carry much potential but we are fundamentally the same as any other plant or animal that we find in nature.
The universe does not revolve around us. Your individual existence and passing is of no real consequence. Yes, we can have an impact on others, but our actions will not alter the course of the universe.
Human behavior is the same as the behavior of all other life forms. It is beyond the purpose of this writing to explore this in greater detail as there are other bodies of academics that explore this further.
Before we address the next statement a word of caution to be mindful of along your journey some paths are potentially dangerous
If you truly engage in a journey of self-discovery prepare yourself for the changes you may go through.
· Growth to the point of leaving behind those you know
· A feeling of loss and being detached
· Reorienting your focus and sense of being
· Changing sense of values
Take time to reflect and consider the paths offered. Allow yourself time to allow the spirit of life to be expressed in you. Understanding will come as you explore new paths.
An expanded discussion of Initial Statement 8: We as natural living individuals will not survive forever. We cannot even be absolutely sure as to our retention of a sense of individuality after our earthly life passes.
This can be one of the more difficult concepts to make real, it perhaps is one of the most important.
What we have been leading to is this concept. There is only the here and now, this present moment is real. There is no future as such, nor a past, that our mind should be absorbed with. Yes, there is a passage of events and future events to come, but they are just a continuation of the present moment. Strive to gain an awareness of the present and all those things currently in motion around you. Learn to cope with the flow of the present.
This is a subtle and important concept. Towards this I will only provide these supporting thoughts to consider:
Avoid the pitfall of the complacent notion that a reward waits for you in the future or after your earthly passing. This is probably the single most serious obstacle to enriched self- growth.
Think of the “mental safety-nets” in your life. Risks are minimized or out-right removed. Avoidance of self-reliance allows one to essentially meander through life. Life is lived without the intensity or zeal that it deserves.
We will speak no more of this. It is controversial. Upon this point, for some, the path of your self-discovery will diverge. This is fine and is in fact the point of the entire journey. Your path needs to be one of your own making. Paths taken will not be the same for all.
Closing
To close this endeavor, I would like to summarize some of the items presented. These are simple statements, which I believe can be used to make the many separate pieces that we see in our lives fit together. These simple statements can serve as the basis for one’s own belief system. They may help answer your own questions, those like “Who am I?” and “Why am I here?”
· Life is a force. It has been present from the beginning of time. It manifests itself when physical conditions are favorable.
· It is as real as any other physical force identified by science.
· Life manifests itself by driving organic structures towards greater complexity.
· Existence of the Individual is a result of life’s seeking expression.
· The drive of survival is strong. It makes life what it is today. This drive has caused all the diversity that currently exists in Biology. It makes man what he is today.
· There is a drive to consciousness and self-awareness.
· Consciousness would seem to arise from that same motivational force that drove the primordial components to form the first cellular life eons ago.
· Consciousness provides free will.
· Free will gives us the ability to make choices.
· The highest expression of free will is the achievement of a state of Joy, state of Grace or complete self-awareness.
· The lowest expression of free will would be the individual’s striving to immerse themselves in the many diversions and worldly distractions that are available. These things prevent the development of a sense of self-identity or true individuality.
· The most important thing in man’s life would be the spiritual condition of the human heart. Anyone whose heart truly exists in a state of Joy is more fully alive.
· Any endeavor we engage in should be measured in terms of its effect on the nurturing of the human heart, either our own or others.
· Once we as individuals achieve a state of Joy we are in actuality expressing that essence of life that has been present through all of time.
· Life is as much a part of the Universe as any other phenomena. As any other component it will survive.
· While we cannot see the final destination of its direction we are driven along its path.
I hope that these words provide some insight. I have found the process of articulating my thoughts, my observations, my understanding of great personal benefit.

2023.03.23 08:45 bapehoodies12 Fear of God Essentials Hoodie of 2023
A designer named Jerry Lorenzo was introduced to Barney’s buyers when the retailer became bankrupt. He was in Paris at the time. In 2012, Lorenzo was just starting up a clothing line he called Fear of God, but he didn’t yet fully understand how fashion houses and aspiring fashion houses would operate: They would release each collection only at certain agreed-upon intervals. Known mostly for throwing parties in Los Angeles at the time, he was mainly known. His clothing, characterized by a distorted vertical proportion, was mistakenly called streetwear, a term that, at the time, was applied to a fashion movement that is now widely accepted for men’s clothing like hoodies, and T-Shirts. 2023.03.23 08:43 Chamborger Why is there no Subdeacons in the Greek Church?
I noticed there are very few perminant or long term subdeacons in the GOA, Constantinople or in Church of Greece. They exist in Antiochian Church and the other Balkan Churches (Bulgarian, Serbian ect..) but specifically a lack in Greece. I was wondering if anyone knew why

2023.03.23 08:38 Blisstering-Misery What's the refutation to this?
As salam ow alaykum ow rahmatu Allah ow barakatu السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
So you never stray again brothesister
Being Muslim is not about blind faith but reasoning too.
If you've seen this before be sure to still read it because I'm always fine tuning it:
latest update May 18, 2022 Quran 51:47 added
The very basics are best covered by Renee Descartes argument summarized as "I think therefore I am" so how do I know I exist? Because I'm able to think therefore I must exist.
He pursues truth in a very interesting manner. Everything that can be a lie even 1% is discarded so all the physical senses. So fundamental truth is "I think therefore I am".
2nd truth is I didn't create myself so I must have a creator. Beyond that his book isn't that worth reading.
This is very profound because even if we live in a computer simulation or the Matrix it still has to be true. You're thinking therefore you MUST exist. If you exist something must have created you. To avoid an infinite regression there must be an uncreated creator.
That uncreated creator must be eternal due to being outside space and time. Must not have a body since a body is limited. Must be all powerful as he (Royal Plural Allah has no gender) created the universe. Must be singular.
What did we just do? We logically deduced Allah and using only logic got Surat Al Ikhlas 112
So what is the most compelling argument for God? The Christian argument is weak since they say 1=3. The Muslim argument is better since 1=1. No disrespect to our Christian friends but stating facts inshallah you join us someday on the true path of Prophet Jesus PBUH.
So why else Islam?
For me it was the scientific miracles of the Quran and there are plenty as well as all the prophecies of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH came true with 0 errors. It's statistically impossible so close to 0% chance.
Kuffar will tell you that's not true. Lots of people can make predictions like that. There's been over 107 billion people in human history. If the chance of Prophet Muhammad PBUH predictions being right is 0.01% there should be about 10.7 million people who had similar predictions with the same 100% accuracy. We Muslims are not greedy we ask them to produce 1 other person if they're sincere. They can't. Prophecies that came true (there are more but the post would be too long) :
The barefoot Arab Bedouins would compete in the construction of the world's tallest buildings. These were people living in tents as Romans, Persians, etc... Were building marvels. Seems nonsensical at the time. Sahih Muslim 8e, Sunnan an Nasa'i 4990, Ibn Majah 63, and more.
That Arabia would return to being lush with meadows and rivers. It has recently been discovered Arabia was lush over 5,000 years ago. Google "Saudi Arabia farming" & "Saudi Arabia Meadows". Was practically impossible for him to know. Sahih Muslim 157c
That the body of Ramesses II was not only preserved but would reappear as a message for mankind. The chief French surgeon who operated to study the body when they found it Maurice Bucaille converted to Islam on the spot after finding that his surgical findings were known in the Quran over 1300 years prior to his scientific findings. Quran 10:92
The victory of Romans over the Persians the word used is بضع which means 3 to 9 years (happened in about 7 years) after a humiliating defeat when everyone thought the Romans were wiped out.Quran 30:1-6
Women will wear clothes but appear naked. Salihin 1633
That Abu Lahab & his wife would go to hell Quran 111. They were early enemies of Islam. The verse came out about decade before they died. All they had to disprove Islam was convert. Omar Bin Khattab RA by comparison was a fierce enemy of Islam who became the 2nd Caliph after Muhammad and arguably its greatest leader. His conversion happened after Prophet Muhammad PBUH prayed one of 2 Omars would convert. He converted on route to kill the Prophet PBUH.
The prediction of his death and that of his family in order following him. First was his daughter Fatima RA (Sahih Bukhari 6285 6286) & then from among his wives Zaynab RA (Masabih 1875 & an-Nasa'i 2541).
The assassinations of 2 of the 3 Caliphs (Omar & Uthman RA) following his death. Sahih Al Bukhari 3675
The prediction of Muslim conquest of Egypt, Persia, Sham, Yemen, Istanbul/Constantinople.
The unavoidability of interest in the future. For their time it was a very bold prediction that proved very accurate. an-Nasa'i 4455
The prediction of the weakness of Muslims as other nations invite each other to devour them despite Muslims plentiful numbers. The Ottoman Empire was vast but 8 European countries conspired to invade it Russia, UK, France, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, & Montenegro. So they invited each other to feast. Also there were internal traitors like Atatürk (joined Vatan Ve Hürriyet 1905), the Young Turk Revolution (1908), the 3 Pashas (1913) & Armenians so weak despite its vast numbers.
Contrary to popular belief the Arabs (1916) & Kurds (1914-1917, & 1920 on) betrayed the traitors not the Ottoman Sultan.
Abi Dawud 4297
The invasion of the Mongols
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The Hour will not be established till you fight with the Khudh and the Kirman from among the non-Arabs. They will be of red faces, flat noses and small eyes; their faces will look like flat shields, and their shoes will be of hair." Sahih Al Bukhari 3590
Dr. Keith Moore head of embryology at the UofT never converted to Islam due to his Christian upbringing (stated he would have if his father weren't a minister) but stated prophet Muhammad PBUH had to be a messenger of God for the details he knew of embryology. He mentioned several of his colleagues converted.
Also Egyptology. Haman is mentioned in the Quran 6 times 28:6, 8, 38; 29:39; 40:24&36. In Quran he is Ramsey II Head Builder (Senior Court official ordered to build tower) and this has been confirmed after the discovery of the Rosetta stone as Haman was the Head of Quarries. This contradicts the Bible and actually disproved the Book of Esther.
Interestingly enough this also preceded the discovery that Ancient Egyptians used baked clay in construction as this was thought to be brought over by the Romans.
Do the disbelievers not realize that the heavens and earth were ˹once˺ one mass then We split them apart?1 And We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
Quran 21:30
We built the universe with ˹great˺ might, and We are certainly expanding ˹it˺.
Quran 51:47
This was the proof that one of the Muslims used when arguing for God, and perhaps these are the most common reasons they give, what's the refutation to these?

2023.03.23 08:38 Basic_Observer “Individualism and the Event Horizon of Life.
Some basic thoughts that stem from this concept • Our endeavors as humans should seek to nurture our individuality as well as nurturing all of life in its many forms • We must embrace our natural being and all that follows while striving to nurture our spiritual potential and deepening our state of joy. • We as individual physical beings will die. The subsequent existence of that essence of life that we hold within and as a part of this physical being is, as we can currently observe, is unknown. This premise does not matter. We humans can only focus on the expression of our spirit in the here and now regardless of tomorrow. • All humans and to an extent all of life is the same. • Human insight is not under the sole ownership of anyone person or culture. Insight is passed on by all, deepened and rephrased though out time. • Technology while beneficial is not the apex of the cosmos. • Life probably is found elsewhere in the cosmos in those older regions of the vast expanse of the universe. Life may well be found in forms beyond our comprehension let alone our ability to observe. • Humans probably are not the apex of life.
Path of reflection to explore: “Embracing the Crucible and finding the natural rhythm of the world” A crucible is a tool and a means to burn away impurities.
Consider these series of related statements: • We are beings that arise from the expression of that force of life • Nurturing that spirit will lead to a deepening sense of wellbeing – a state of joy if you will • Becoming a strong individual with an awareness of who we are and allowing that spirit to be expressed is the natural course of things • Our depth of understanding and the expression of the spirit seems to be unlimited • From these basic ideas all else can be framed and defined
Before we address the next statement a word of caution to be mindful of along your journey some paths are potentially dangerous If you truly engage in a journey of self-discovery prepare yourself for the changes you may go through. • Growth to the point of leaving behind those you know • A feeling of loss and being detached • Reorienting your focus and sense of being • Changing sense of values Take time to reflect and consider the paths offered.
Towards this I will only provide these supporting thoughts to consider: Avoid the pitfall of the complacent notion that a reward waits for you in the future or after your earthly passing.
Closing To close this endeavor, I would like to summarize some of the items presented. These are simple statements, which I believe can be used to make the many separate pieces that we see in our lives fit together. These simple statements can serve as the basis for one’s own belief system. They may help answer your own questions, those like “Who am I?” and “Why am I here?” • Life is a force. It has been present from the beginning of time. It manifests itself when physical conditions are favorable. • It is as real as any other physical force identified by science. • Life manifests itself by driving organic structures towards greater complexity. • Existence of the Individual is a result of life’s seeking expression. • The drive of survival is strong. It makes life what it is today. This drive has caused all the diversity that currently exists in Biology. It makes man what he is today. • There is a drive to consciousness and self-awareness. • Consciousness would seem to arise from that same motivational force that drove the primordial components to form the first cellular life eons ago. • Consciousness provides free will. • Free will gives us the ability to make choices. • The highest expression of free will is the achievement of a state of Joy, state of Grace or complete self-awareness. • The lowest expression of free will would be the individual’s striving to immerse themselves in the many diversions and worldly distractions that are available. These things prevent the development of a sense of self-identity or true individuality. • The most important thing in man’s life would be the spiritual condition of the human heart. Anyone whose heart truly exists in a state of Joy is more fully alive. • Any endeavor we engage in should be measured in terms of its effect on the nurturing of the human heart, either our own or others. • Once we as individuals achieve a state of Joy we are in actuality expressing that essence of life that has been present through all of time. • Life is as much a part of the Universe as any other phenomena. As any other component it will survive. • While we cannot see the final destination of its direction we are driven along its path.
I hope that these words provide some insight. I have found the process of articulating my thoughts, my observations, my understanding of great personal benefit.

2023.03.23 08:36 Blisstering-Misery What's the refutation to this?
Quran 51:47
This is what someone said when they asked for the proof of Islam, or the reason to follow it. So why'd these be wrong?
