2023.03.30 16:39 Jaded_Strain_1226 6 Technologies that will Impact the Future of Trucking

"…cars and trucks in which human drivers are never required to take control to safely operate the vehicle. Also known as autonomous or ‘driverless’ cars, they combine sensors and software to control, navigate, and drive the vehicle."
—Union of Concern Scientists, USA (USCUSA)
Is this what the future of trucking looks like?
For a few years, electric trucks were mainly being worked on by startup companies, while the large tech companies were mostly silent on the issue. This all changed around 2017. Tesla unveiled its all-electric autonomous truck in 2017 and the early customers of this product are Walmart, UPS and PepsiCo. Then, Daimler unveiled the electric siblings of their most popular trucks, Cascadia and M2 as eCascadia and eM2 in 2018. At the ACT Expo in 2018, Roger Nielson, the CEO of Daimler Trucks, said that the time has come to contemplate the post-internal combustion engine. The production of Daimler electric trucks will begin in 2021. In April 2019, the Nikola Motor Company, a tech startup unveiled its semi-truck powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Anheuser Busch, a beer making company has planned to buy 800 units of Nikola’s hydrogen fuel powered semi-truck.
Uber has also acquired a startup company, Otto which is working on autonomous trucks. In October, 2018 Otto completed the first shipment in the world from a self-driven truck. The cargo hauled by it contained 51,744 cans of Budweiser.
📷
Any technological advancement requires large investments. According to a report from CB Insights, $2 billion has been invested in startup trucking companies as of 21st May, 2019. The investments in tech startups jumped a huge leap from $114 million in 2014 to $3.6 billion in 2018. The growing interest in the future of trucking has increased the scale of investments. The costs of electric trucks are quite higher than that of a diesel truck. Nielson went on to say that the business scenario at present will not allow a sane fleet operator to buy an electric truck. The industry needs to find ways to carry on research and make batteries that are half the current size and price. Also, it must double the energy density. In the meantime, partnerships and grants can make production of electric trucks possible.
The 6 major technologies that may impact the future of trucking are:
Electric Trucks
Autonomous Vehicles
Platooning
Shipper Platforms
Blockchain Trucking
Artificial Intelligence

Electric Trucks - Future

The depletion of the conventional sources of energy have made researchers seek alternative sources to power vehicles. Additionally, vehicles need to be designed and structured in such a way that is compatible with alternative sources of energy. Thus, conservation of nature has been a driving concern behind a lof of the recent innovations.
Since trucks were first used in the late nineteenth century, they have come a long way. The future seems quite exciting as truck manufacturing companies are aiming to build electronic and autonomous trucks. Trucking had altered the way America did business and a lot is set to change in the coming years as well. With Tesla, Volvo, Daimler and other truck giants about to launch electric trucks in a few years, the future of trucking never seemed so promising and exciting.

A Brief History of Electric Trucks

The first crude yet viable electric motor which could power a tiny car was built by ÁnyosJedik, a Hungarian priest in 1827. 28% of vehicles running on American roads in 1900 was actually powered by electricity. Milburn electrics was the vehicle used by President Woodrow Wilson and his team of secret service agents to travel around Washington, DC. Once charged, the vehicle could travel a distance of approximately 60-70 miles. Though, initially electric vehicles did not have rechargeable batteries. The first electric carriage was invented somewhere around 1832-1839 in Scotland by Robert Anderson. It ran on primary cells which were non-rechargeable. The nickel-iron battery was one of the kinds of rechargeable batteries.
Of the many companies that produced and sold electrical vehicles, Baker Electric, Detroit Electric and Columbia Electric were quite notable.

Why did electric vehicles lose their prominence?

Cars powered by internal combustion became cheaper. Also large petroleum reserves were found in Oklahoma, California and Texas. Additionally, roads outside urban areas began to improve. Due to the availability of better roads, cars with internal combustion engines became a more popular choice.
In 1913, Henry Ford introduced a line of gasoline-powered vehicles. These vehicles were mass produced which lowered the price. Gasoline vehicles became more and more popular. The electrical vehicles began to lose ground, only to come back with a bang after nearly a century.

Why do Electric vehicles seem like a promising option in the present day?

📷
There are a number of reasons behind the growing popularity of electric vehicles:

Can use electricity generated by non-conventional sources

Electrical vehicles need electricity to recharge batteries. Apart from fossil fuels, this electricity can also be generated from renewable sources like solar, wind and tidal energy.

Leaking oil from conventional engines

The conventional engine may leak oil. If not detected in time, this can lead to damages. Electric vehicles do not have this fear as they run on rechargeable batteries.

Regenerative braking

Regenerative braking is one of the key advantages of plug-in or hybrid electric vehicles. In a hybrid vehicle a conventional way of propulsion is often merged with an electric one. This braking system helps an electric vehicle gain back the kinetic energy which is usually lost as heat during friction braking. This recovered kinetic energy can be stored in the vehicle’s battery as electricity and give a small recharge in that way.

A step towards autonomous driving

It is an easier integration for full self-driving capabilities to happen with an electric vehicle rather than a traditional engine.

Less noise while operating

Vehicles that run on electricity cause less noise in comparison to a combustion engine. Emitting less noise means that a truck can run in suburban areas at night without causing any disturbance.

Fewer service and maintenance needs

Electric vehicles have fewer service and maintenance needs. This is because there are 30% fewer movable parts as compared to a conventional vehicle with a combustible engine.

No tailpipe emissions

As electric vehicles do not run on conventional sources of energy like fossil fuels, there is no smoke emission. Hence, it can be driven in environmental zones as well.

Energy efficient

As electric trucks use rechargeable batteries to function, the energy consumption of the truck is maximized.

Types of Electric Vehicles available

Electric vehicles can recharge batteries from a number of energy sources:
Based on the type of energy used, electric trucks can be classified into four categories:

HEV or Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Instead of using only a traditional engine, a HEV or Hybrid Electric Vehicle, adds to the engine an electrical option. By using regenerative brakes, HEVs convert kinetic energy into electric energy as mentioned above. These vehicles use both electric energy and use gas or diesel to operate.

PHEV or Plug-in Electric Vehicle

A hybrid electric vehicle which has a battery that has the option of being recharged by plugging it into an external source of energy is called PHEV or Plug-in Electric Vehicle. These vehicles use electricity for short distances. When the battery is over, the driver can switch over to the conventional combustion engine. This type of vehicle allows the driver flexibility that ensures high fuel and energy utilization. The use of electric energy to run the vehicle saves fuel costs. The emissions from the tailpipe are also minimized.

BEV or Battery Electric Vehicle

This type of vehicle uses chemical energy stored in its rechargeable batteries. This is a pure electric vehicle. Being battery operated, BEV vehicles do not have a combustion engine. Instead, it uses electric motors along with motor controllers.

FHEV or Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle

This type of vehiclehas an electric motor, that is recharged by the chemical reaction of oxygen and hydrogen. It is true that some emissions are created while the hydrogen is produced for the fuel cells. However, water is the only waste product while an FHEV is driven.

Autonomous Vehicles

The advancement of electrical vehicles in recent years calls for another futuristic feature in trucking: autonomous driving. The concept of autonomous driving began with the notion of ‘driver assistance’ or ‘assisted driving’. It aims to have completely driverless vehicles or a vehicle where the people inside are passengers. Undoubtedly, the concept of autonomous driving demands an advanced technology with superior sensors. P C Mag has defined an autonomous car as, “A computer-controlled car that drives itself.” Autonomous trucks can save a lot of money too. Morgan Stanley estimates that if American trucks are made autonomous, $168 billion can be saved each year. Though, we are still many years away from full autonomous driving as of now. Autonomous driving has been set to five stages. The fifth stage is considered the most technically and mechanically advanced one:
📷

Stage 0 – No Automation

Vehicles controlled by human drivers and without any sort of support from computerized driver assistance system is considered stage 0 or ‘No Automation’.

Stage 1 – Driver Assistance

Vehicles in ‘Driver assistance’ level or stage 1 are jointly controlled by the driver and a computerized automated system. There are a number of ways in which this system can work. A driver usually always controls the steering, while the automated system may have certain control over the brakes and speed of the vehicle when required. At times the engine power is controlled by the automated system which ensures that the vehicle can maintain a specific speed. At times parking assistance is also available with this automated system. Here, the speed of the vehicle is controlled manually while the steering is done automatically. However, the driver has to be alert and ready to take up the control if any problem arises. This type of driving is also called ‘hands on’ driving.

Stage 2 – Partly Automated Driving

In stage 2 or the ‘Partly Automated Driving’ level, the driver monitors the driving process while it is conducted by the automated system. If in any situation or condition, the automated system cannot do its job or fails to respond, the driver has to take up manual controls immediately. This stage is at times called ‘hands off’. In this stage it is mandatory for the driver to keep hands on the steering wheel at all times. This mandate is for safety purposes. Having the driver constantly holding the steering wheel means that immediate manual control of the vehicle can be taken up during any situation.

Stage 3 – Highly Automated Driving

The ‘Highly Automated Driving’ level is commonly called ‘eyes off’ level. This means that the driver is not required to constantly monitor the driving or look at the road ahead. The automated system will be able to perform on its own and without any human interference. If any problem occurs, automatically the emergency brakes are applied. Though the driver can usually do personal work while the vehicle is on the road, during adverse or critical conditions human intervention may be required. These situations will be specified by the manufacturer before-hand.

Stage 4- Fully Automated Driving

In the ‘Fully Automated Driving’ the human driver is allowed to take their ‘mind off’ in most of the situations. The driver may sleep or do other work in other part of the vehicle as the vehicle is capable to look after its own safety. This type of vehicle is capable of completing the journey and park itself. However, during traffic jams (which falls under ‘special circumstances’ category) or tight-spaced areas, the vehicle has to be operated by a human driver.

Stage 5- Full Automation

In a vehicle having ‘Full Automation’, the steering wheel is optional. Hence, it does not require any human intervention for any aspect related to driving. Through this type of vehicle, full automation is achieved.

What is our present stage in Truck automation?

Volvo’s VNL and Pleton’s Platooning System are examples of trucks that are available in the trucking market today that have Stage 1 automation. Under the Stage 2 automated truck category, the new 2020 Cascadia will be the first truck in Northern America according to Freightliner. It will begin production from July, 2019. Embark and Starsky Robotics are the two other Stage 2 automated trucks that will be available in the future but at present are in pre-commercial stage. Freightliner Inspiration and Uber Otto are trucks that fulfill the criteria of the Stage 3 automation. However, at present they are only available in prototype retrofits. The Freightliner Inspiration was the first automated truck to be licensed to operate on the highways of the country back in 2015.
At the CES electronics show in Las Vegas on 7th January, 2019, Daimler trucks announced that it will invest more than half a billion dollars and create 200 new jobs in its global endeavor to launch Stage 4 or highly automated trucks in about 10 years. The switch from Stage 2 to Stage 4 is natural and hence the step of conditional automation is being skipped as according to Daimler, conditional automation will not provide any extra advantage to the truck drivers. In the 3rd stage of automated driving, drivers can go about doing other work but have to take immediate control if the system cannot tackle the situation. The mental and physical switch from leisure to prompt action may not be as quick as required thus, it is judicious to skip the Stage 3 altogether. Additionally, Stage 4 will ensure optimal utilization of the trucks. They will be able to travel at night and avoid traffic congestion by smart route management. Future of trucking is looking very promising with autonomous vehicles.

Platooning in Trucks

Another trucking innovation in the near future is platooning. Platooning is the coupling of two or more trucks to form a convoy through the use of automated driving support system and connectivity technology. The ways in which platooning works is:
Peloton Technology plans to commercially introduce a platooning system that is partially automated. This system at present allows two trucks to work in a close chain. Peloton technology’s PlatoonPro is already being used in fleet operation by six of its clients.
The features of Platooning system by Peloton Technology:

Usefulness of platooning

Platooning is said to have a number of benefits for the future of trucking:
📷

Improved safety

Truck platooning is said to improve the safety of the convoy as the brakes of all the trucks can be applied automatically and immediately. It has been seen that during truck platooning, automated brakes take one-fifth of the human time to analyze the road condition and apply the brakes.

Efficient performance

There can be optimal utilization of roads in the platooning system, increasing the range of the roads and avoiding traffic jams. As a consequence, goods can be delivered quickly and efficiently.

Cleaner environment

During truck platooning, the Carbon Dioxide emissions can be reduced along with fuel consumption. The air-drag friction is also considerately reduced as the trucks drive close to one another.
However, Platooning is not really as fuel-effective as it is being claimed by some. Daimler has said that during testing of the platooning system its fuel savings are less than estimated even in perfect conditions. These savings are further reduced if the platoon is disconnected and have to be accelerated again to get reconnected.

Shipper Platform: Uber Freight and Amazon Freight

📷
Freight brokerage connects shippers with the appropriate carriers. Recently, technology is playing a role in this aspect as well with Shipper Platforms.
The Trucking business was taken by storm with the introduction of shipper platforms like Uber Freight. Shipper platforms connect shippers with small fleets hauling freight via a load-matching feature. Uber Freight launched its load-booking app in May, 2017. The main intention behind the launch of Uber Freight was automating the manual processes of shipper selection and increasing market visibility. It was also intended to relieve shippers from time consuming legal proceedings and the anxiety of getting the best possible deal. This is one of the many ways on how owner operators can find loads.
The features of Shipper Platforms and how they may impact the future of trucking:
Uber also reported that the freight division has a network of more than 50,000 carriers and mentioned that some of the largest carriers in the country are users of the app. However, it has not been all great for Uber Freight since its launch. Uber Freight posted a loss of $64 million in the first quarter of 2020. According to CNBC, Uber Freight gives 99% of the revenue generated to the trucking companies, which leaves little room for profitability.
There may also be a few other reasons why Uber Freight has not been fully able to live up to its vision:

Rudimentary features

With the growth of GPS tracking and ELD devices, merely providing shippers the details of the truck’s location is not unique. Shippers also need to know the route the truck is taking and the HOS data.

Not so reliable in fleet and driver selection

In Uber Freight there is not a lot of barrier to sign up. All carriers do not have to provide basic requirements like an active DOT/ MC number, proper safety ratings or proof of insurance. A shipper may not feel comfortable about doing business with such carriers.

Shortage of drivers

Uber Freight provides drivers a number of perks. In spite of this, driver shortage is quite a problem. Drivers will want a steady job that ensures a good livelihood. Hence, many drivers will prefer to work with a trucking company with regular pay, rather than rely completely on Uber Freight.

Focus on shippers rather than carriers

While launching the load-booking app, the shippers’ perspective was given a lot of importance as the price transparency feature shows. However, the carriers are an integral part of the trucking business too. Apart from the loyalty program there has not been a push to ensure that carriers get steady and constant work through Uber Freight.
Uber Freight is not deterred from their path though, and mentioned recently in 2020 that their focus is still there to grow the Uber Freight business.
Amazon has also launched its own freight app, ‘Amazon Freight’. Amazon Freight was released quite quietly some time in 2016 or 2017. This app allows truck drivers to take up jobs of hauling Amazon packages in Prime-branded trailers across the country.
Fleets can sign up through the website and hauling assignments get allotted accordingly. There are a few requirements which drivers have to fulfill:
Amazon tried to use the truck drivers base and enhance its business via the Amazon Freight service. However, truckers do not see a good livelihood coming from only hauling Amazon trailers. Anecdotal evidence says that the payment is fairly low. It can be kept as an option, or can be opted as back-hauling. Doing business exclusively with Amazon Freight is said to not be fully profitable. In spite of the initial setbacks, Uber Freight and Amazon Freight are changing the future of the trucking business.
Amazon launched its freight app ‘Relay’ in 2018. It operates in 5 states—Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania. Its aim is to give truckers additional freight information. It has features like route tracking and expedited checking procedures at the warehouses. It has been designed to help truckers get faster entry and exit at the Amazon warehouses. It is Amazon’s first attempt at automating the truck delivery process.
How does the Relay work?
In these 3 steps:
📷
Amazon also intends to build an app like Uber Freight that will match cargo shippers with truck drivers.

Blockchain Trucking

The trucking industry in general has certain inefficiencies. Deals can take time to get finalized. The related paperwork is again, time-consuming and hectic. The trucking industry needs an open platform where shippers and carriers can view each others profile, get the selection process done in less time and get the load rolling. However, how will this be possible? The Blockchain is kindling hopes of achieving a seamless and frictionless trucking system. First, let's understand the basics of blockchain and how it can make the trucking space a community where work can get done more efficiently.

What is Blockchain?

Blockchain is an open digital ledger. It is a business network where transactions can be recorded along with tracking of assets. Blockchain technology is inherently based on cryptography, a complicated branch of mathematics. Blockchain is also decentralized. It depends on the consensus of a peer network spread across the world to function. This digital ledger is made up of a series of ‘blocks’. The blocks are the bundles of transactions which are connected together in an open ‘chain’. The data entered in the blockchain is considered to be true and valid. As being a decentralized forum, there is no single authority to verify the facts. Everyone is always on the same page. It is impossible to change or modify the data in a block as that will modify the entire chain and will need consensus from the entire network.
The whole community associated with the blockchain will be able to validate the data entered by an organization as blockchain technology is an open-to-all ledger. It leaves no room for speculation, assumption and data falsity. Hence, a holistic trucking ecosystem can be developed through a blockchain network. After all, organizations can be rest assured that the data they have been provided is authentic and validated.

How will blockchain be used in the future of trucking?

The trucking industry can definitely benefit from blockchain technology. One of the obstacles of the trucking industry is that it is largely fragmented. There’s no open knowledge about which shippers are currently looking for carriers or which carriers are open to haul shipments. Blockchains open ledger will open up the trucking industry. One of the problems it will most definitely solve is matching appropriate truckers with shippers. In the longer run blockchain technology can function as an open network for truckers.
The trucking industry largely depends on paperwork. Due to this, administration and processing costs have gone up to 20%. However, blockchain technology allows the sharing and easy distribution of documents on the open ledger. This sharing facility makes paperwork between shippers and carriers quite unimportant. Easing out the hassles of documentation will make payments possible in less time.
Some trucks, especially refrigerated ones, carry medical shipments. These are at times detained at customs for large periods of time. This mostly happens when trucks exceed the allowed range of temperature. A blockchain enabled refrigerated truck-trailer made by the Swiss Tech company, SkyCell, lowered the temperature-deviated rate to less than 0.1%. With the use of smart approvals, clearance at the customs checkpoints can be made smoother and more efficient. Moreover, a refrigerated trailer has to be closely recorded at every step. It has to pass through more than 30 organizations which require more than 200 different pieces of information. Any miscommunication can either delay the shipment or the shipper may lose track of it. A blockchain network will ensure that communication at every step is clearly noted. This ensures the shipment reaches the respective facility on time.
The e-commerce industry has developed in such a pace that same-day and 2-hour delivery options are provided to customers. For a parcel to be delivered in the same day or in 2 hours, the technology should not have any glitch. The traditional trucking technology largely relies on paperwork at every stop can not be suitable for such a fast-paced delivery. The blockchain technology with its immediate access to order tracking and authentication ensures that the delivery takes place in the required time.
At times, trucking companies order spare truck parts and also old trucks. The tracking of these spare parts or old trucks can be pretty exhausting as no proper forum is provided for constant tracking. However, the blockchain network will enable the efficient tracking of the supply chain as well.
These are the different ways that blockchain can impact the future of the trucking industry:
📷

Efficient Freight Tracking

As mentioned above consumer expectations are ever-increasing along with demands for same-day delivery and two-hour delivery. Blockchain will not only take care of the tracking of the shipments but also help in authentication.
In order to ensure consistent improvement in trucking operations, authentic data has to be provided to transportation companies. EDI or electronic data interchange and API or application program interface leaves room for data manipulation or misinterpretation. Blockchain has the backup of the entire network to contribute information and authenticate the data. Hence, there is no scope of data tampering. Blockchain also improves the efficiency of temperature controlled and refrigerated trucking which is reliant on on-time delivery by giving data backup at every step.

IoT (The Internet of Things) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) enhance monitoring efficiency

Carriers and shippers can detect the total space taken up by a shipment in a trailer with the help of IoT. This helps to determine the expense of the shipment and all the information can be transmitted to the blockchain. This aids in maintaining the transparency of the freight cost. SkyCell had created containers for air freight. These containers monitor humidity, temperature and location for transporting biopharmaceuticals that require refrigeration. Its cloud platform is also utilized by SkyCell for recording every document of the shipping process, from start to finish. As these cargos travel through various check-points, all the required documents available at hand make the transportation process easy and efficient. Thus, the blockchain technology ensures that valuable cargo is transported intact and has the backup of all supporting documents that might be needed along the journey by using IoT and AI.

Maintaining vehicle performance history

While it is very important to have fleet tracking records for future use, the tracking records of a vehicles performance is also beneficial for the future. A vehicles performance records include its maintenance history and past performance. When considering used trucks, buyers are usually interested in the past history of the truck. However, that leaves a grey area of speculation. With blockchain technology, a prospective buyer and seller will have all the information validated by the entire network easing any intermediary speculations.

Ease of new carrier onboarding

While taking on new carriers, it is quite difficult for freight brokers to find all the adequate information on that carrier. It is quite time consuming to get all the required details together and that also leaves room for speculation. However, with the blockchain system all the necessary details of the new carrier will be provided by the decentralized network. This network stores all the data of the carriers operating in the transportation and freight industry. No new carrier will be able to give false information in an open network.

Vehicle to vehicle communication via the Internet of Things (IoT)

Platooning technology uses vehicle to vehicle communication to enable vehicles to work together as a convoy. This communication via IoT can improve the vehicles efficiency and safety as the platooning system claims to do. All communication information can be stored in the blockchain and this information will be helpful for all the transportation companies using the blockchain network to operate their fleets better.

Improving reliability of load boards

In a blockchain network, all the loads can be verified by others and get time-stamped in the process. This will ensure that loads are not duplicated and the carriers get authentic information. The blockchain network will also be able to authenticate all the loads put up. Thus, the reliability of the load board is improved due to a blockchain network.

Smart Contracts

Smart Contract allows companies to program self-executing tasks in the blockchain network. The task gets automatically performed when certain criteria are fulfilled. For example, a carrier’s payment can be released when the cargo reaches the facility if the task has been set accordingly.
Those are a list of some potential benefits. The largest blockchain network at present is by the Blockchain in Trucking Alliance (BiTA). Its current members have exceeded 1000 in number. The members include mcCleod Software, UPS, DAT, Salesforce, Don Hummer trucking, Transfix. BiTA members are taking part in nearly 85% truck-related global transactions. Its blockchain standards have brought a uniformity and efficiency in the trucking community. Sweetbridge is another blockchain based technology that seeks to take care of the significant inefficiencies of the supply chain across the world. Some major problems it addresses are — supply chain operations, supply chain flexibility and supply chain liquidity.
The blockchain revolution has just begun. It must also be taken into account that to use a blockchain system, the trucking or shipper company must have the adequate resources like the required hardware and software, along with the technological know-how. In spite of all the speculated downsides, blockchain seems like a wonderful solution for many trucking problems. It must be nurtured with time and technical advancement. In the coming years, the trucking industry’s profitability and efficiency will reach new heights if blockchain trucking’s functionality continues along the same graph.

Artificial Intelligence and Trucking

According to the American Trucking Association, the US freight transport will increase to 20.73 billion tons by 2028. This huge growth by 36.6% from the freight weight of 15.18 billion tons in 2017 will need an advanced infrastructure. This will be able to ensure smooth operation of such a ‘healthy’ industry. Along with the existing challenges, fuel prices, increasing cost of operation, driver shortage and shortage of shipping capacity will be the crucial areas in coming years. Every American is virtually affected by trucking. Hence, smooth operation must be ensured so that the economy and the lives of the people maintain a steady pace. AI can be of real help to continue to roll the wheels of the trucking industry.
Some of the key ways in which AI can affect the trucking space are:
📷

Cost reduction

AI will be able to foster predictive maintenance systems. This will help vehicles perform better. With constant monitoring, any mishap can be predicted beforehand. It can monitor by keeping in check the maintenance logs, IoT sensors, and other external sources. This will have a dual impact of reducing the maintenance costs and increasing the fleet performance. In other words, it can predict when a maintenance will be needed in advance of an issue occuring. So rather than being reactive with maintenance issues, carriers can be proactive.

Lower the numbers of highway fatality

AI along with IoT enhances vehicle to vehicle communication (V2V). V2V along with ADAS, or advanced driver assistance systems, can prevent nearly 40% of road crashes according to a publication by the NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The prevention of highway fatality will save a lot of money and more importantly lives. Cisco IBSG estimates that the savings can be $280 per crash.

Natural image processing

Trucking involves a lot of paperwork. The documentation has to be stored in proper folders as any information may be required for any purpose in the future. This process can be exhausting and time consuming. AI with its feature of natural image processing can recognize and retrieve any scanned document. This easy retrieving of documents will aid the manual task of computer data entry.

Predictive analytics

AI processes past performance records. This will not only predict the health of a vehicle but will also predict about the drivers. AI will also be able to analyze what conditions are preferred by drivers and what are the chances of driver retention.

Match carrier with shippers

While human freight brokers find it extremely taxing to connect the appropriate carriers with the shippers, AI can easily do so by matching facts and data.
With all the new technological advancements and more to follow, the future of trucking indeed looks promising and exciting. Lost Gecko (Help)
About 8 months ago, my ex fiancé switched crested gecko enclosures and moved my geckos into there. We left for 2 hours and came back to check on them and they were gone. (We have no idea how they escaped as the lid was still fully closed when we came back) We found one of them under our couch. However, the other one we still haven’t found. We do regularly find lil gecko poops around the floor but never have seen the little guy. Does anyone have any advice on how to find the lil booger? (Photo is of the lil guy 2 days before he escaped)

2023.03.30 16:39 Odd-Success-2902 Anxiety has a chokehold on my life

I'm a 21 year old male from the UK and I've been struggling with anxiety for the past 4-5 years. I'm hoping to connect with and get some advice from others who have experienced similar symptoms and triggers to me. This might be a pretty long post so I've left a TL;DR at the bottom.
My anxiety manifests in physical symptoms like wretching and gagging, and I end up feeling (and sometimes am) physically sick. Certain situations tend to trigger my anxiety, things like airports, public transport (particularly if it's a bus full of people or something) and meeting up with people I haven't seen in a long time.
For example, a recent anxious event for me was at the gym when a girl I used to know from secondary school walked in, waved at me, and within seconds I was feeling sick and wretching. I had to speed walk to the bathroom because I thought I was about to throw up. This girl is someone I knew had joined the gym weeks prior, and each morning before getting to the gym I'd be on edge in anticipation of seeing her. She's a lovely person, easy to talk to, and I spoke to her in person as recent as last week and it was fine. The most annoying thing for me is that once I left the situation (I had to cut my workout short), I felt absolutely fine and just ended up being frustrated with myself that I became overwhelmed and left.
I get anxious about being anxious. It drives me insane. I'm usually an optimistic person, but I'm struggling to see a future where I'm free of anxiety and can enjoy the things that make me anxious today without wretching/gagging etc. I have a hard time understanding how everybody else just does these things without having any form of anxiousness. My anxiety is getting in the way of my dating life, traveling, and doing all the other things I want to do.
I'm wondering if anyone has overcome anything similar to this and has been able to live their life without anxiety. If so, what helped you the most? I'm open to any advice or strategies that have worked for others. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I appreciate any help you can offer.
TL;DR: 21yr old male, my anxiety manifests in physical symptoms like wretching/gagging, feeling/being sick. Situations like going to airports, using busy public ransport, meeting with people I haven't seen in a while, dating make me extremely anxious. I get anxious over being anxious, and I'm struggling to see a future where I'm free of anxiety. My anxiety is getting in the way of my dating life, traveling, and doing all the other things I want to do. 2023.03.30 16:39 StepwiseUndrape574 Rockstar Launches GTA+ Subscription Service With Member Exclusive Benefits But Is It Worth It?

Once upon a time, it was commonplace for online games to have subscription fees. The earliest popular graphical online games, including Ultima Online and EverQuest, all had recurring service fees, as did many games that came after, such as Final Fantasy XI and World of Warcraft.
That model has largely given way to the "freemium" model where the publishers give the game itself away for free, but much of the game's content is locked behind the choice of either extended play times "grinding" for materials, or the option of skipping that grind with a real-money payment.
However, some games have both, and that usually includes the longest-lived and most-successful ones. Sega's ten-year-on Phantasy Star Online 2 is free-to-play, but has extensive cash purchases and also has a "premium" subscription available. In Final Fantasy XIV and the venerable World of Warcraft, the subscription fee is still required despite the presence of a cash shop.
carmeet
Grand Theft Auto Online has a lot of similarities to what we usually think of as qualities of "MMO" games. While it isn't "massively multiplayer" on a local scale—sessions normally include a maximum of 32 players—there are tens of thousands of players online at any given moment. It has named player characters with persistent progress and all of the other things we think of from MMO games: equipment, appearance customization, player housing, difficult multiplayer "raid" events, and so on.
With that context in mind, it probably shouldn't be a surprise that Rockstar is launching a subscription service for GTA Online. It's called GTA+, and it costs $6 a month. Ponying up for the premium subscription earns you a cool $500,000 in the in-game GTA$ currency every month and extra GTA$ on "Shark Cards," as well as exclusive benefits. Here's the list of benefits for the first month: The Principe Deveste Eight — along with a complimentary Hao’s Special Works upgrade for it before it is made available to purchase by the general public — plus the HSW Orange Trip and HSW CMYK Glitch Liveries. The Auto Shop located in La Mesa, introduces an assortment of gameplay updates from Los Santos Tuners. Current Auto Shop owners can relocate to La Mesa at no additional cost. Waived LS Car Meet Membership fees. Current LS Car Meet members with GTA+ will be reimbursed GTA$50,000 during this event period. Yacht owners can upgrade to the Aquarius Super Yacht at no additional cost. The Gussét Frog Tee and Broker Prolaps Basketball Top and Shorts automatically added to your wardrobe. The Conveyor Livery for the Mammoth Avenger, HVY APC, and TM-02 Khanjali. A selection of free paints and emblems for the Auto Shop. 3X GTA$ and RP on Hao’s Special Works Race Series. 2X Car Meet Rep on the Street Race Series. It would be easy to criticize Rockstar for this move because the company has already taken $60 of your money for the game. That's to say nothing of the grind-heavy nature of GTA Online that practically forces players to purchase Shark Cards for in-game currency if they want to make progress at any kind of reasonable rate. There's also the fact that the company is charging money for what is honestly an extremely minor update on the current-generation consoles.
In the interest of fairness, though, we'll note that many players who bought GTA V (including GTA Online) purchased it nearly a decade ago. Just like other major online games, GTA Online has seen years of additional content and improvements through continual updates, and that stuff does cost money to create.
deveste eight The Principe Deveste Eight, one of the rewards for subscribing this month.
If you own GTA V, you don't actually have to pay Rockstar anything to play it for the rest of eternity, so giving players an option to spend a little every month to support continued development is fair. However, the list of benefits, at least for the first month, is pretty weak.
There's another caveat, too: this program is only available to players on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. We've asked Rockstar if GTA+ will be coming to the PC version, and will update this post if we get a response.

2023.03.30 16:39 shadow210294 Rebirth theory

So I've had this theory for feel like its been confirmed but who knows. I think Zack is not only in the current parties time line but is also only a few days maybe a week behind the party. Zack carried second Cloud in from the other side of plate seven as party left on their journey from reactor 6 the other side of where Zack and second cloud are coming from. I base this off when you see Areith at the end cutscene you can see its reactor 6 and before that when you see the shot of the party behind them on the left side windmills/ towers are there. Then when it goes to Zack carrying second cloud the windmills and towers are too his right. That's why Arieth says she missses the steel sky (imo) she can sense she is going to miss something important at home. Then for intergrades end credit scene with zack at the church some people think its because Arieth is dead in his timeline. But I think its just the refugees from plate seven collapse seeing shelter there. The minor differences of the church could be a red herring. Finally in the new trailer it shows zack and second cloud coming up to midgar with a collapsed and maybe starting to rebuild plate 7. I feel like the different stamp bag and minor church differences are red herrings because they are easily changed where background objects and the city's layout would be more deliberate since it would be easy to leave out. Also a bonus just my personal opinion but the explosion of light and the whispers was the merging of all the time lines even though it was obvious feel like it makes sense, since everyone seen the shower of light particles.

2023.03.30 16:38 Cmonmac A Review of Center Rusty Staats

Decided to get back into watching film and analysing guys now that my work travel schedule has calmed right down. I’ll get into looking at prospects again soon, with the plan to start to look at the 2024 class commits soon.
However, I wanted to start by checking out the guy who is taking the starting sport at C without ever playing a down for us. I really liked Dennis Wilburn at C, for most, if not all, of last season he was lights out our best olineman. He barely put a foot a wrong, consistently made the correct calls and was just all round solid. Obviously, I’m buzzing that he is still starting, pencilled in at LG to replace my weekly punching bag Weston Wright but it was a shame he was moved out of C not for doing a bad job.
I am always worried when players transfer from former coaches’ teams, there’s a part of me that is never sure if the evaluation is as unbiased as it maybe should be. And because I barely have enough time to watch Tech games, I certainly haven’t seen much WKU, so I decided to spend some time crawling through highlights to see what there is to see about our new center.
I watched 4 games highlight packages with Rusty and what I mainly saw was consistency. I saw 1 hold on him in those highlights (obviously there may have been more but highlights gunna highlight) and very few blown runs or sacks were because of him. He always does enough to get the job done, he isn’t going to scream out on tape or highlights, but you also don’t notice him because he makes crushing mistakes.
In the run game, Rusty is a precision player not a mauler. I never saw him run anyone over or blow them down field. However, what I did see was a player perfectly happy to keep his man on the LOS and turn him to give the correct cut lane for the back. Ultimately, in zone run games and with gap plays where you are on the back side, this is perfect. If running guys over isn’t your game, don’t try do it cos you’ll do it badly. Instead, Rusty has a real knack for getting guys shoulders turned and explosively working his hips around them to ensure he on the correct side of the play. However, if he doesn’t win that initial few steps, he can get caught in no mans land. If the run ends up being internal, that lake of heft can sometimes cause the defender to have the chance to scrape off and make the play.
In the pass game he is more of an absorber than a popper, he retreats, resets and takes impact well using his frame and often has schemed help where possible. He reacts well to stunts, picking up looping defenders with ease. I also didn’t see any snaps that went awry but again I stuck with highlight packages as I’m not blessed with time and wanted to a see large variety of schemes played against. He’s also sneaky athletic, getting out front on multiple screens also. One minor issue was picking up blitzing backers or safeties. As I said before he absorbs more than he hits and so players at full speed can knock him back and this is where I saw his holding penalty where he absorbed a blitzing MLB and had to hold to turn him.
Now where he did seem to struggle a bit more was with 0 tech nose tackles. Despite being 6ft5, there were times, particularly in the UAB game. In that game he was matched with a similarly weighted, 6ft nose who could seemingly get under him quite consistently. He gets into a very low position for a taller center but that wasn’t always enough, especially as he isn’t a mauler as previously mentioned. Being more of a pivot center, a guy more in the Kelce mould in technique but not stature, he’s going to lose those head up battles a little more often as is strength isn’t mauling dudes. Now this is ok for us, as I’ve noted before Kittley is a zone run guy so your center is used more to wall guys off and give clear cut lanes, but it can then be an issue in the red zone where gap scheme runs are more common.
To conclude, I like Rusty a lot and actually think having him a C will be a bit of an upgrade, we couldn’t play him at guard as he lacks the solo pushing power. Therefore, the move for Wilburn to guard makes a lot of sense and I’m now less mad!
Hope you enjoyed this, and I am looking forward to getting back into it.

2023.03.30 16:38 StepwiseUndrape574 One of the things that made Grand Theft Auto V

One of the things that made Grand Theft Auto V so successful was its online mode, GTA Online. Players could team up with friends and complete missions together, or compete in races and other activities. It's likely that Rockstar Games will continue to focus on online play in GTA 6, but whether it will be as successful remains to be seen. With the popularity of games like Fortnite and Apex Legends, there's a lot of competition in the online gaming space.

2023.03.30 16:38 WilliamWordlord Is Laptop Pricing going to get better in the near-er future?

Are the higher mid-range laptops we see now, like Zenbooks or laptops with similar specifications to those going to get cheaper as time goes on or are they just gonna disappear and get replaced by more expensive models? Should I wait for laptops to get cheaper, or are they actually not going to get cheaper and going to get more expensive instead? What do you think?
I want to buy the new Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED UP3404VA which has a 1360P processor that can go upto 5.0 GHz and 1TB 4.5 Gen 4 NVME SSD, 16GB DDR5, Intel® Iris Xe Graphics, with probably the best OLED display I've ever heard about which is supposed to be good for your eyes and emit less blue light and also have a 90Hz refresh rate instead of the usual 60Hz I've been seeing with mid-range Lenovo and Asus OLED displays plus a 1080p camera and 75Whr battery.
It is priced at $1,581 where I'm from(an authorized store in a 3rd world country btw). I believe that this laptop has everything I'm looking for and can ask for right now and is literally perfect in every aspect(at least for me), but I have seen cheaper alternatives with Dell and with 16gb i5 Zenbooks which cost around 350 dollars less.
I was just wondering if the prices were gonna go down with 13th gen laptops being more common and stuff or would that make matters worse price wise? I found a Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402ya with a Ryzen 7 5825U Processor, for $1,148 and have been considering that as well. Am looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this. Much love, thanks for reading.

2023.03.30 16:38 MAConstantine1 Help with Barrel Cactus

Help with Barrel Cactus
Hi! I’m reaching out for advice/help about my Barrel Cactus. I transplanted him into organic soil about a year and a half ago and he seems to gradually be getting worse. He’s developed black spines at the bottom and significant more corking as well. He also has some flaking that’s starting (e.g., third picture). He also had some white powder on him that I removed with a baking soda and water solution. I know the powder was not mealy bugs because when I squished it, it did not turn red in my hands. I also know the white powder was not caused by overwatering because I didn’t water him over the winter because a friend told me I shouldn’t and she has a lot of cacti. Has anyone seen this before or can anyone help? Could it be because of the organic soil? Should I put him out in direct sun during this summer season rather than under a UV light indoors? I’ve probed around and currently none of the corking and affected parts seem squishy. My plan currently is to keep spraying him with baking soda and water solution about twice per week so hopefully the white powder doesn’t come back, but also wanted to see what more experienced cactus growers have to say before making any other decisions.
Thank you in advance!
Matt

2023.03.30 16:38 spadefoot Unlike anyone else, I have a few thoughts about D4

Not a power-player, but been playing Diablo since D1. I still fire up D3 for a couple of weeks every season or two. None of these thoughts are necessarily original or never-seen-before, just my opinions.
  1. Zoom level -- Really need to be able to move out a click or two farther on the zoom. I don't mind it being more zoomed in in the cities, but out in the world, I need to be able to see more.
  2. Interactive locations in cities are needlessly spread out. This may be something that's a function of not everything being in the beta, but things like the stash and gem/potion folks seemed needlessly far from the portal location. At a minimum, the stash should be on the same screen as the portal landing spot.
  3. I'd like an option to make my mouse cursor a bit larger or more visible. Playing on a 32" 4k screen, I often lost track of where my mouse was on the screen in all the combat effects.
  4. I played Barb and Druid (I know, I know) in the betas and I'd tend to generally agree that they both felt a bit slow and underpowered. I enjoyed the Druid more than the Barb, personally. Rabies was fun, but seemed a little slow/underpowered. If they are going for a fewer MOB's that last longer thing, DOT's might make more sense, but it didn't feel like it was doing much to help.
  5. I liked the cellars with a little quick pop-in, slaughter, pop out mechanic. Would be nice if they had a chest, even if it's usually just a plain one or something, but it felt a little underwhelming to have (often) just nothing at the end of the fight besides the clear message. I'm assuming there will be more variety in the cellar storylines in release, but I'd still like that dopamine hit of a chest dropping.
  6. MMO/Shared world aspects: Honestly, don't care one way or another. I play with a few friends and that's it, so I wouldn't mind being able to have a private game option, but I don't think they will add it as it doesn't really fit with what their vision seems to be.
Overall, I had fun with it. Rubberbanding and login queues were annoying, but I think it's reasonable to assume(hope?) those are beta-teething issues and won't be a problem in release. Based on the beta experience, I'm not "on fire" for it, but I expect I'll have a decent enough time playing it as it inevitably evolves of the first year or so of release.

2023.03.30 16:38 ShisokuSeku We get it. Females look like Females, Males look like Males. Can we stop now?

Seriously, tekken is a stylized game even if theres some realism in it. But can we stop with hating on the game for females looking Feminine and Males looking Masculine?
The Female cast still is expressive. Jun gives of a Sad, Caring and "i need to cleanse the evil" type of vibe.
Nina looks serious and ready to assassinate.
Ling looks like a cheerful teenager.
Just cuz nina and Jun dont have skincreases doesnt make them less expressive. Can we stop the TMM parotting circlejerk already? 5 posts ive been notified with and they all say the same shit.
Males generally look more rugged.
Females generally look more soft.
Its as if you guys dont live in reality. (Wich, we are reddit users so theres that..)
FFS. Can we criticize magic 4's not being used as a defensive tool anymore or ragearts not being launch punish on block?
Fuck off already with your bullshit. We've barely seen anything in terms of cutscenes.

2023.03.30 16:38 Virtual_Caramel_8538 Your Opinion on the Fitness App (My PT Hub)

Hey everyone! My name is Malk, I am a fitness business owner of 10 years who has used all the digital apps out there, all the spreadsheets, and have tried many things to help my clients succeed in reaching their goals. As a I've seen the industry change over night as a result of CVD first-hand, I became extremely interested in what makes a "good" app for the users (clients).
Most recently, I have began to shift laterally in the career and focus more on user interfaces in the health and fitness realm studying UX Design. As a current student, I am putting together a case study that focuses on the fitness app My Pt Hub where I am looking for participants for an interview I will be conducting regarding My PT Hub and its features. I am looking to land 5 volunteers for the interview portion. Based some of these posts/replies, and it being a niche thread I believe you all would be great candidates for the interview. If anyone is interested, I can provide you with more details to move us forward through the interview process.
This invitation is also open to any and all trainers, coaches, users, or health and wellness folks. If you are one of those or think you may fall under the niche, please reply to this thread or send a private message! I would be ecstatic to lead you through the interview process and gather information needed to hopefully figure a way to create a better user experience via My PT Hub.
All the best,

2023.03.30 16:37 StepwiseUndrape574 Street Thugs Rejoice, Rockstar Confirms GTA 6 And Work Is Well Underway

It's been around eight and a half years since the last major installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, the longest gap ever in a franchise that spans seven main titles. So when is the next one coming? We can't say for sure, but Rockstar Games has not finally confirmed that there will in fact be a Grand Theft Auto 6, and that it is deep in development.
A new game in the franchise feels long overdue, though Grand Theft Auto V, which surpassed 150 million units sold last summer, and GTA Online have continued to scratch that itch for virtual wanton mayhem. It remains to be seen what the next entry brings, but we can assume (or at least hope) it will take full advantage of the latest hardware capabilities.
"With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series," Rockstar Games stated in a blog post. "With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered—and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway."
Grand Theft Auto V Characters Rockstar Games doesn't come right out and say "GTA 6" but whatever the title, this will be the sixth main installment. It follows GTA V (2013), GTA IV (2008), GTA: San Andreas (2004), GTA: Vice City (2002), GTA III (2001), GTA 2 (1999), and the original GTA release (1997). That's 25 years of GTA, folks.
It seems more than plausible that GTA 6 will tap into the hardware capabilities of the latest generation game consoles (Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5) and graphics cards (Ampere and RDNA 2), given that a remaster of GTA V is headed to systems on next month.
As to what GTA 6 will bring to the table, supposed leaks and rumors have been all over the map. There's been chatter of a return to Miami with Liberty City and Vice City making appearances, and players being able to assume the role of a drug lord. GTA 6 is also rumored to be the most expansive title in the franchise yet.
For now we'll have to keep guessing, as Rockstar Games says it will be "sharing more as soon as we are ready." Waiting is the hard part, but knowing GTA 6 is happening and is deep in development will have to suffice for the time being.

2023.03.30 16:37 gender_is_a_scam Hi, this might be dumb but, do language exemptions exist outside Ireland? Also I need advice pls!

This is dumb but I can only find people talk about irsh exemptions and spainish(but in Ireland). I'm irsh myself and have a Spanish one and is being recommended by school to get an irsh one too. I've looked on YouTube, Google and searched this sub all I can find as irsh sauces.
Also I just want more info on them because as I said I'm being recommended an irsh one, I do already have an exemption for spainish but I'm curious more about having two and if theirs anything I should know before agreeing.
I kept freaking out with I was in irsh class because it was overwhelming not understand 3 words of it, I had the same thing(but worse) in Spanish and I don't regret getting an exemption. With irsh I do want to learn it because I've always felt unconnected to Ireland(African/foreign parents), but the learning guidance concler(idk what to call her potion) siad I can still causally learn and attend the classes but I wouldn't have exams or participation expectations. The arrangement sounds good but it's still a huge change.
It's also weird how happy they are suddenly to give me an exemption, I've had a diagnosis for over seven years but I never had the option full stop. I literally cried and begged for the Spain one and eventually they agreed, but this time I never even asked. (Timeline wise they Spanish one was over a year ago)
Also if it's important their aware I'm trying to get assessed for adhd and asd. Their well aware of my sensory issues. Also my secondary school recently saw papers mentioning I'm dyspraxic, witch may of been the first time they'd seen, my mom probably didn't mention it.

2023.03.30 16:37 Capital-Ad7933 Bob Fosse's Dancin' is so good!

Bob Fosse's Dancin' is so good!
I literally can't say enough good things about this show! While yes, there is no plot, they never claimed to have a plot.
The show is such a celebration of dance, and ensemble members who so easily get forgotten in other big shows. Every cast member gets their moment to shine, and as someone who loves and appreciates the time and dedication it takes to be that good a dancer the show is magic. There are so many moments where I found myself completely blown away by the voices of each of the singers, and they genuinely seem to be having fun on stage.
It is everything you want in a almost completely plot-less musical. It's so good, I've seen it 3 times already and I cannot wait to see it again in April! 💙💙

2023.03.30 16:36 CabbageMessiah My Newphews / Niece Are Being Abused by N-Parents and I Haven't Reported It

I've recently seen someone asking about this from an adolescent perspective and it made me think about my recent encounter with this and my experience growing up and wondering the same thing about my aunts and uncles not doing anything or talking to me. I've also been thinking of writing about my overall experience, how it affected my life, and my present relationship to family, but I was considering making it into an audio or video post (without explicit personal details) because I've never felt enough touch of humanity from visiting through the years and reading or commenting, and I want to really explore the range of issues it ultimately became understood to affect through the years. Let me know what you think of that idea and why if you want to.
My nephews and niece are in very abusive environments, from what I hear from the abusive parents talking about themselves openly and about an ex-wife, and from what I've seen first-hand. One nephew, I never met. His antagonism by my sister and sense of betrayal by his father was so strong that he refused to visit by the time I happened to stay with my sister. I only got to interact with one newphew and niece. I went no contact with my sister for about a decade in my twenties and after she finally reached out to me, she began sharing questionable accounts of her life, her new husband's ex-wife, and odd comments prescribing ADHD or autism interchangeably and belligerently with a tone of dismissal and sometimes walking back that there was a legitimate diagnosis. That especially concerned me because I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, and it's difficult to get adequate care because people have agendas and motives surrounding it, but she was bizarrely conflating it with autism as though looking for excuses to contextually find fault with her step-children.
Her timing was very strange to show up in my life after a decade of not bothering, even after I allowed our abusive parents to communicate with me. The last time we talked, she was married to a different guy who was abusive and narcissistic, and when I sought help from her with a former girlfriend, I woke up in the middle of the night to my girlfriend sobbing saying her husband had bullied her to tears. I grabbed all our possessions and put them in our car and before leaving confronted my sister about what I was told. The look of duplicitous intent and effort to manage her account of what happened said everything, and she avoided stating anything, instead trying to validate her husband's behavior, and by extension, herself. I told her I never wanted to talk to her again, and made good on it.
Within the year, I began noticing strange behavior with my computer and kept suspecting my devices were hacked but dismissed my concerns as I couldn't find anything I understood to prove it. She began insisting that I visit my parents for the upcoming summer, and then my parents kept insisting. Then she kept insisting I should move to live with her for no reason. I'm in my thirties. I haven't spoke to her since she offended me, we didn't resolve why I stopped, and she knows nothing of my life. Why should I? But she kept insisting I should at least visit the family. It would be an opportunity to finally meet my nephew. I gave in.
When I returned from less than a week visiting, I found my entrance security camera disabled. Nothing wrong with my other camera. When I played back the continuous recording on the SD card, it stopped working within minutes of me stepping out of my apartment to catch my departing flight out of town. I got a feeling something was going on, but couldn't make sense what could be. The whole trip was strange. My father started suggesting I should move in with them, to work on my life. He knew nothing of my life and the last thing I'd ever do is move in with them. I ignore 99% of anything they send me, ignore their calls, and eventually respond after several months. It's pretty clear I don't enjoy them or prioritize them in my sense of meaning in life. They too never took responsibility for why I went no-contact, and they stalked me for years.
Several months later, my computer were obviously hacked. I had to ask them for financial help, laid off since lockdown. For months, I ate minimally and worked constantly trying to fix things but somehow everything kept infecting. Then, I found that neighbors around me were involved in the hacking. I would learn they were ex-convicts and associated with the apartment, and the family who owned the building I leased were connected to the Sheriff's Office and FBI. A whole team of people suddenly emerged very openly surrounding me, preventing me from interacting with pedestrians or contacting police with their knowledge. There are a lot of fucked up things that developed, but ultimately I was displaced to my parents and my sister, who then made it fairly clear they were involved in this somehow. They blocked every effort to get help, made no calls to report the crime, reported me as having a mental crisis when I began realizing this and questioned them, and then once with them, eavesdropped on my phone calls and followed in their car when I attempted to leave.
I was frightened and outraged of what was going on. I lost all my possessions, was being denied all my rights, and now my abusive family was demonstrating they were involved and denying it, while also spending surplus money. This is when I ended up staying with my sister and witnessing what was going on in her home.
I was careful, passive about everything. I'd been abused by narcissists, but I was also being virtually held hostage and unable to act freely. My nephew was treated like a clown. Told to shut up, that he wasn't funny, mocked, berated, ignored. My niece was pointed out as not being "real" family, criticized for being filthy, ignored, physically abused, treated like a prisoner where they'd photograph her underwear in the mornings, catalogue her for pre-emptive defenses since they'd already been taken to court by her mother for abuse, and she hardly ate and was kept subdued by meds. My sister worked to make life hard on her husband's ex-wife, and it became clear she tried to manipulate situations to make them seem like "troubled kids" to defame their credibility. The nephew I never met was now having violent outbursts at school and she celebrated this, knowing she did everything in her power to make his life miserable. This new brother-in-law was pathetic. A covert narcissist. Everything was everyone elses fault. He represents himself as a woke white male, but literally acts as a henchman in reality, ignoring his daughter, and got fired for talking down a woman about being black.
I showed my niece and newphew they were funny. I talked to them. Even though I was stressed and felt threatened in my situation, I made a point to play video games, to ask them about what they wanted to share. They lit up. They changed immediately. They became willing to make bargains with their parents unfortunately, because they wanted to hang out with the new nice uncle when they thought they were alone in their lot.
I talked about my experience with my parents, but they haven't come to terms with their abuse. They're young and in conflict with the limited premise of their lives their parents hold them hostage to, but sometimes, and often, they're trapped in being abused the next day, and I come around, and they try to share they were having a funny little thought that it wasn't really nice or fair. God I felt miserable not being able to give them much of my time at all and understanding how much they wanted it.
Finally, something was going on. I learned about informants making money by setting people up. It seemed possible my family in some way worked out some deal and profited off of setting me up somehow, or arranging to obstruct me from pursuing the family that destroyed my life for their own profit and probably fear of liability should any investigation take place and reveal call logs and any communications. Much less, the perverse violations of privacy it signified, and they were all intersecting with the government, military, and law enforcement. When I mentioned I learned of informants and that I was feeling ready to start reaching out, my sister and her husband began hiding away, being quiet, not letting their kids come around me. My sister was making excuses not to provide me with cheap items to help me secure private communications with law enforcement or journalists.
Anticipating something happening, I pulled my nephew aside and told him I saw what was happening in life and how he was being treated and not to fool himself that this is normal. It is in fact very strange and unfair, and it's not nice to be told to shut up or told they're not funny. That I thought he was thoughtful and funny and smart, and the world is filled with people who don't think anything happening here is normal, they're just being kept out. His facade of trying to be the son he was being demanded to be melted away. His eyes watered up and he began admitting he didn't understand why he was treated the way he was.
The next day, my sister arrived with police without warning and told them she felt threatened by me and had me evicted into the street. No idea where I was, no possessions, no phone, no money, knowing no phone numbers, except my abusive parents. Her neighbor allowed me to use her phone and she called the police on her neighbor claiming I was a threat. Now I'm with my stalking parents.
I haven't reported the abuse yet, even knowing she was trying to get custody of my niece in order to control her, to put her on meds and effectively lobotomize and imprison her. The reality is, narcissists are dangerou maladjusted people. I should have never allowed them into my life at all. I've paid dearly, and I can't help anyone around me because I'm a hostage for one year so far. I can't contact police without interference, I've been thwarted from taking timely action, and I try to hide everything and move slowly in my actions. As I've said, the world runs on procedures. Every injustice and abuse and contradiction you've ever heard of in our society, is made on procedure. Narcissists working together in the world can destroy you. You have to procedurally bash them into the ground or they'll hurt you and others.
For now, I'm walking on eggshells. I have no money, my bank accounts were shut down, my address isn't changed, my identification is expired, my credit cards are closed, no one knows where I am as far as I know, I have no car. I've had my adult life ripped out from me and transplanted back to my childhood with my parents watching everything I do, not allowing me to act independently, pretending they did nothing.
I will try when I can. For now, they have to suffer like I did.

2023.03.30 16:36 Winter-Replacement37 Has anyone tried Dolly from Databricks: A ChatGPT like Generative AI Model that is Easier and Faster to Train

"Databricks presents Dolly, a low-cost LLM that demonstrates surprisingly high levels of the instruction-following abilities seen in ChatGPT. This work indicates that anyone with access to high-quality training data and an out-of-date open-source large language model (LLM) can train it to perform like ChatGPT in under 30 minutes on a single machine. Dolly uses data from Alpaca to make minor adjustments to an existing, open-source 6 billion parameter model from EleutherAI to elicit instruction following capabilities such as brainstorming and text production."----By https://www.marktechpost.com/2023/03/28/databricks-open-sources-dolly-a-chatgpt-like-generative-ai-model-that-is-easier-and-faster-to-train/
