I'm (F 27) currently working part-time (10 hours per week) for a mutual connection that needed help establishing a sister business under their K9 drug dog company. I have experience with graphic design, content creation, social media management, and some PPC (but I'm not a digital marketing expert). I've been working in the marketing field for over 5 years now for small businesses. I was hired on to start a dog training business within the K9 business to help make money to pay back their investors (lol this K9 business is funded by investors *don't ask*).
I was tasked with designing the sister businesses' logo, building a website, managing their social media, and basically getting this side dog training business off the ground and running as fast as possible for them to make money. I work remotely and live over an hour away from the brick and motor location, so the trainers will send me content to post on social media etc.
I'm hitting a major roadblock helping their sister dog training business get clients. At first opening, it was decently consistent, but now since February, it's been pretty dead for them. I've been recently getting the short end of the stick it's my problem that I need to resolve. There are a lot of factors that the president and owner are not understanding that is making this a very difficult challenge for me.
  1. The service area is in a more rural town location where the average income is $25,000-$35,000 (not joking). The majority of the population are not college grads. So finding the prospect that will convert for them is already difficult to find in the area.
  2. The owners want to charge premium pricing for their services (3k for a 4-week board and train) and only offer board and train or extended stay boarding. This pricing would be relevant if they were closer to the city, but when I compare this pricing with local competitors, they are more expensive and do not offer other services like group classes etc.
  3. There are 4+ competitors within 20 miles of this facility. This includes a Petsmart that offers training and 2 other local dog training businesses that have been in the area for over 20 years. There is also a couple of known boarding facilities as well that offer cheaper pricing than what the owner wants to charge. And it doesn't help the competitor's facilities appear to be designed with pet dogs in mind, while this facility that I'm marketing was originally designed for K9 working dogs. So competitors look like an inviting place, while this one is more bare bones.
  4. Communication is extremely poor between myself, President, and the owner. Being an hour away and with how busy the owner is dealing with their main K9 business and also this sister business, most of my emails and texts are ignored daily. The owner contacts me consistently last minute and doesn't keep me in the loop on how business is going (like today they contacted me to run a Facebook PPC ad because they haven't had any new clients in weeks). The owner constantly argues and questions me about every little thing. Sometimes I will go weeks of no contact from them then suddenly get a call to light my ass up because no clients are calling them.
  5. All of my advice has been ignored. I have tried to have discussions on value proposition and working on local strategy. I got them in contact with a reporter for the local paper, which they never followed up with. I told the owner to establish connections with local vets in the area and join the local chamber of commerce (which was ignored). I told the owner to follow up with clients and get reviews on the google my business page, which they inconsistently don't do.
  6. The content the trainers send me has no value. I've expressed to the owner what content will perform best for the social media channels and have even sent emails with ideas on what I need. The owner will argue with me and say that the trainer's videos and pics that they send me are "just fine" and tell me I need to drive out there to get the content if it needs to be so specific. The quality of the videos I get sent is dark and always horizontal, which is not ideal for reels or TikTok. Content is always sent to me inconsistently and when I reach out to ask I get pushed back on and told to "leave his trainers alone bc they are busy". So there are periods of time where no content is being rolled out.
So far, I've done a decent job with what I've been given. The sister business opened in October (hasn't even been a year in business) and has done nothing but grow in impressions overall on social media channels and website. Currently, I have them ranked #3 on Google for local board and train facility. I grew their Facebook page organically to 1k followers already. I have Google biz setup, yelp, and social media accounts. I try to make use of the content the trainers give me the best I can and most posts get 10-30 likes and 3-10 shares on Facebook, so I think I'm doing the best that I can with what I'm working with.
I've decided on putting in my two-week notice to terminate this contract because I'm tired of the pressure to get them clients and being yelled at unprofessionally by the owner when it's not in my wheelhouse or my responsibility from my contract. I'm a marketer that needs some structure and communication. Plus I'm only working 10 hrs a week and they are asking me for a miracle. I only get paid $300 a week from the owner to not even communicate with me or listen to any strategy that I suggest. (Yes I agreed to this price I know). The owner doesn't even want to invest in Google ads due to the cost, which I don't even think will help unless they build trust in this small community and invest more in establishing value.
My question for the marketers that read this...am I crazy for stepping away from this? I want to help this mutual connection but I feel like there's no helping them unless they get someone to do marketing in-house and/or understand the fundamentals of marketing. What would you do in my shoes? How would you help a just-established dog training business that is struggling to maintain a steady flow of clients?
Is this a common occurrence in the small business world, dealing with difficult clients and stepping away from them? Are business owners expecting young marketers to pull a rabbit out of a hat and take charge of all marketing efforts? Just blows my mind. Lmk your thoughts, I'm having a lot of self-doubts recently in my career, esp after all of this. *I know there's a lot I'm not including here, but I'll try my best to answer any questions in the comments.

Hi everyone,
I’m sure this has been asked before, but I was curious what with the well-established, current CC ecosystems we have today (Chase, Amex, Capital One): Aside from churning the sign up bonuses, for every day spending is it better to stick to just one eco system and try to earn the maximum rewards possible there and actually rake in points towards something feasible as opposed to spreading out across multiple eco-systems?
Many popular credit card reviewers on YouTube recommend cards to maximize the % or X points redemption. But, is the addition of an extra %/X or two really worth it in terms of everyday spend? For example, if I have a dual Capital One setup with the Venture X for 2x on everything and the SavorOne for 3x on dining, is this not a better way to accrue points then say to use the Amex Gold for 4x on dining or even the Citi custom cash for 5% CB?
Of course, this is aimed at those who want to maximize their earnings towards greater redemptions by accumulating points and using transfer points. I also will agree that certain cards like the Bilt have their own niche for mandatory payments like rent. But is it truly worth branching out into different systems for that every day spend point build up independent of churning sign up bonuses. Thanks!

I (18) female soon Turing 19 graduated high school in 2021. I enrolled into uni for the following year start of 2022 because of pressures from my parents and high school. I ended up dropping uni a couple weeks later not telling my parents and also incurring uni debts. I knew uni wasn’t for me and that I never wanted to go back again. I really wanted to travel as I was debt free and could easily save enough to go backpacking. I ended up telling my parents and they were highly disappointed even trying to get the university to take me back. I told them to give me a year and I promised them I would do well work purchase a house even but they said if I didn’t I’d have to go back to uni the following year .I did end up saving a deposit after becoming a slave to work but I did save enough for a house deposit but never went through with purchasing the house as being 18 and paying off a mortgage felt like even more of a trap than uni. So instead I used the money and spend it on family and failed businesses as well as putting some of it towards my family mortgage as they were behind in payments. I ended up thinking about starting a business incurred debt after debt trying to start a jestski rental business and now I’m in 17K debt and back in uni 2023.
I’ve got a decision to make either finish 7 years worth of uni unhappy to become a doctor as I failed the first time at trying to do it right and be independent OR drop out of uni get kicked out of my family home and pay rent, bills, food and my debt by myself and once paid off go travelling but my have any financial or family support.
(I know I can easily pay off the debt if I weren’t in uni as I’ve saved high amounts before within a couple months and have a savings plan to pay it off if I were working full time.)
I’m stuck in the middle and don’t know whether to choose being miserable or being unhappy for a period of time and then happy once I get to travel.
Backpacking has always been my dream I planned my travel itinerary in year 10 for SE ASIA but have always been scared of disappointing my parents and being disowned and thrown out.
AITAH for following what I want to do in life and putting myself first instead of a family financial aid for there bills and issues.
I have until April 1st 2023 to drop all my classes defer my degree drop uni all that so I don’t incur fees and debt.

Hi there, Just got my 08 Hatch STI a few months ago and have been doing some at home maintenance e.g. new cold air intake filter(old one was trashed and never cleaned by previous owner)/cleaning the intake tubing, cleaning the Mass Airflow sensor, oil changes ect... I have been looking for the Idle Air Control Valve due to my idle RPMs fluctuating between 300-550 rpms when they should be a little higher(using an access port to monitor).
I think that I found the IACv under the intake tubing? I am not completely sure and am hoping that someone can help me out here with either pictures or otherwise. Engine is an EJ25

I think I might have more luck describing the kind of relationship and person I'm looking for, and using that to also show what I'm like.
I'm looking for the kind of person that gets lost in their own head a lot. The whole maladaptive daydreaming shenanigans, forgetting your bus stop because you were staring out the window, absent-minded professor stereotype, literally forgot my glasses on my head, probably adhd? That's my jam, baby. ( That we left out on the counter for two days and had to toss )
But at the same time that imagination engine in your brain is on amazing overdrive. You write, your create, you envision. Even if it's only within the confines of your own hard drive, never to see the harsh light of someone else's eyebulbs, you create. Books are gateways. You especially love movies, tv shows, books and comics featuring a main character transported somewhere else, whether an alien or monster to regular Earth or a regular person to somewhere fantastic or horrific or both.
You've thought about doing a Youtube channel and or podcast so many times...
You usually like people but they are difficult to understand, you think perhaps you struggle with that more than most. You usually empathize more with the alien than the Earthlings. You found it easier to make friends when you were little. Or perhaps you have a natural knack for the charming gab and can easily socialize with most anybody, but actual friends? That's a different, much more difficult thing.
You're not an athlete. You're probably not at a good weight, whether too much or not enough, and your health is not in good shape either, whether theoretically fixable, permanently damaged or sinking like the Titanic.

Not looking to pursue anything legally here. I'm really just interested from a liability perspective...
My friend's company manufactures a specific material for apartment complexes/buildings all over Ohio. On Wednesday, he asked if I could help him unload a shipment of said materials to a local job site for a few bucks. I said sure. The semi truck he'd contracted arrived on the job site and we began unloading his materials into the job site's storage containers. During the job, however, I fell from the truck and hit the ground at an odd angle, and severely injured my ankle.
As I'm also (bonus!) temporarily without health insurance, the cost of X-rays, etc. at an urgent care/ER are insane. The whole point of me helping was to get some extra cash. In short, did I basically volunteer to hurt myself and potentially spend $500+ to see what's wrong? I just feel like I'm missing something here. I'm aware it's probably just dumb luck and I fell off the truck into some legal loophole where no one's to blame but me.
Details:
- My friend needed help unloading for the company he works for. Paid under the table for a proposed hour of work. I said "No problem."
- The truck that showed up is owned by a third party. It is regularly enlisted by my friend's company to transport materials from the origin state to here.
- This happened on a live job site just outside the city, with the knowledge of the site's project manager who was also unloading these materials (and also saw the accident happen since it happened five feet from him).
- I'm not bonded or insured or anything. I'm just a guy who was told tennis shoes would be fine LOL

I just moved out and all of a sudden my landlord is hitting me with multiple fees.
1) cleaning appliances $200
The oven, kitchen cabinets and refrigerator were all empty. They say the oven was dirty, but after living there for a year and cooking all the time should normal wear and tear warrant a fee? I didn’t think I had to make everything look brand new for them before I move out.
2) application fee
After a year of living in my apartment and moving out after my lease expired. They are now telling me I never paid the $75 application fee. Which I believe I never did pay, but wasn’t ever told to do so when I paid security deposit + first month of rent. Do I have to pay this?
Lastly blinds
There saying I damaged all 3 blinds and owe $200 to replace them. When I moved in a year ago the blinds were new. But they seemed like very cheap blinds like $20 dollar Walmart blinds MAX. Hence why they damaged easily from normal wear and tear use over a year. It feels like there just trying to rip me off for $200. What is your stance on this?
This company has a very shady reputation and is threatening small claims court.
