I’ve been sitting here for the past two hours thinking about how badly it would hurt if I cut my wrists and how long it would take for me to bleed out I so badly want to die I have for awhile but everyone else wants me to live. All this works is for me is pain and anxiety And I’ve tried to do everything I can to make it better. I started with smoking but that only helped for about a month then it just made me even more depressed. I tried going to therapy for the past couple of years but every time I leave therapy I leave feeling the same way I did coming in. They’ve put me on medication and even upped the dosage. It’s doing nothing. I’m tired of living it’s to much I just want to not exist and finally feel free from this vessel I’m in. I don’t know who I am outside of this world I don’t even know if there’s an afterlife. I might just not exist at all after this life but I can live with out existing at all and not having a consciousness if it means my pain is gone Im at my wits end and want it to be over I wish there was a way where I know I would actually die and it wouldn’t just be a failed attempt with no pain. I have two pico W. I want one to send data to the other one when a physical button connected to the first one is pressed. This is my first time trying to setup connections over wifi, so I am trying to learn!
They are both setup with circuitpython 8.0.4.
I can get both to connect to the wifi network and both have static IP addresses set by the router successfully.
I am trying to use the socketpool library to (i believe) send a TCP packet when the button is pressed. Therefore my understanding is that the receiving pico W is the "server", and the pico W with the physical button is the "client".

The world must step back from the brink of climate disaster to save the people of the Pacific from obliteration, the prime minister of Samoa has urged.

- - My wife's family is a bit more on the proud side. Albeit our entire culture tends to let our pride drive certain aspects of our lives. For example throughout the first few months after my daughter was born my entire wife's family (40+) who live in another state pressured my wife to come visit them so that they could see the baby. They also, for more context, are the "post pictures to announce their granddaughter on their hometown village group (1000+ members) facebook page" within a week of her birth.
- - When it came to the birth of our daughter my MIL who I love and appreciate, came out to be with my wife throughout the process. My wife's birth plan had it to where It was just me in the room. When my MIL found out, while my wife was in labor, that she wasn't wanted in the room and was making the entire experience more stressful (bless her heart, she just wanted to be there for her daughter) she left crying and guilt tripped my wife for the next few months until she finally got over it with the help of her siblings. She eventually admitted that she wasn't expecting a husband to be there for the entire experience and that it's surprising for a husband to not want to just be home waiting for his wife to come home with their new baby. Another culture/generation gap thing I guess. I give her the benefit of the doubt. Her mom was there for her babies, she figured she'd be able to be there for her daughters.
- - I co-own and operate several restaurant businesses alongside my brother and father. You can imagine the stress, pressure and chaotic workload that comes with being in the restaurant business or any business for that matter, especially a family-business. Early on, before my daughter was born I set boundaries for how long I'd work, especially due to being a new father and wanting to be there for my wife as much as possible, not just "to help", but to truly be a father and not just a provider who "takes the load off" for a few hours a day. It's anxiety inducing not wanting to fall into the stereotype of your own culture, because it comes with judgement from both sides of our families. Anyone who owns a business understands the demand on an owner to be constantly either on the phone, at the business, or thinking about the business, which is why I ensure that my presence at home is maximized, even if it hinders the business, because family first no matter what.
- My sister-in-law is getting married overseas in our homeland. To put it simply, the city of our homeland is in an occupied region of the country. My family resides in the unoccupied part, her family resides in the occupied part an hour and several checkpoints away. I can visit and stay on her side, but she can't visit mine. Not only that, I can enter through the airport on a direct flight, she has to cross through another countries border. Which means that we'd both, along with our daughter have to travel to a different country and take the much more stressful and troublesome route just to arrive in our homeland. Once there we'd have to stay on her side and the only way to see my family would be to go with my daughter without her mother, which would suck since I'd want my family to meet her and viceversa. It's not solve-able, the passport/her coming to my families side issue, in case you were wondering. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. Just to reiterate:
- You think we'd go for a week, see the wedding, see her uncles and aunts, my uncles and aunts (who we haven't seen for years and barely are in contact with) and be on our merry way back here right? Nope, it'd be a month-long trip minimum. Not only due to how expensive it is ($5,000+ tickets just for us 3), but due to how hard it is to get over there in general and how rare it is to go over there.
- It's important to note that if her sister wasn't getting married over there, we wouldn't be going there anytime soon. Not just because of our daughter's age and the risk, timing, inconvenience, full stop at work, complete scramble of our daughters routine and adjustment to the world, etc. It's not "going to Italy to visit our extended family / vacation". It's going on an entire expedition.
- It's nice to talk about, the thought of going at some point. But that's all it's been since we've meet, just talk. We've never seriously considered going, because of how busy we both are with our new routine of being new parents and just the general lack of urgent interest. To add to that, it's our extended families that live there, no immediate family. Uncles, aunts, grandparents. Who we of course love and miss, but never speak to unless it's a quick facebook message or call to congratulate us on our daughter.
- Remember how i mentioned the tip of the ice berg, well let's call all of the above points the tip of the iceberg. The actual iceberg of this entire dilemma is that I love my wife and have no idea how to tell her that I have no intention of going and can't imagine uprooting our lives (that's how dramatic it's gonna be I swear, remember it's not a trip to Spain, seriously, think checkpoints every mile, 6 hour long extra security questions at borders, extra paperwork for everything due to the different passports, an entire unavoidable and unfixable hurdle.)
- The reason the entire iceberg is that I don't want to go, is because I truly in my heart don't want to, and that's the first reason. The second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth reasons are the above, and I only go into so much detail about them because it's absolutely absurd if I have the audacity to not want to go, and her family is going to most likely have a ball if they knew that I simply "don't feel like it's a good time for us to go overseas right now sorry". Are you shitting me? 'll be crucified. It was a two-week long back and forth just to go over to her families state to visit when my daughter was 4 months old, I'mTheAsshole for not wanting our daughter passed around a room of ( I swear to god ) 40 people, who don't care about anything except for judgey-gossiping about us and the moment they turn around, or kindly enough to our faces because draaaama is the name of the game.
- We live here. This is where we live. This is our place of residence. Here. I absolutely understand my wife's yearning to see her family, her immediate family a few states away. However, in the two years that we've been married her family have only visited a couple of times, and only a few of her siblings (all under the age of 21 and unmarried) have come to visit. I'mTheAsshole for feeling like it made more sense for her family to come visit us since our daughter, my job, and our lives were here. I don't just say this sarcastically, I mean it's a cultural must to get up and go to where the party is, otherwise you're criticized.
- I prefaced some of the points with my workload because I know that It influences what I want and don't want. If I lacked the passion in my job and there was less demand of me being here, boots on the ground, then yeah maybe I'd be - SIKE NOPE - I still even if I had a casual 9-5 wouldn't dream of going overseas for even a week. I'm good here.
- Last thing. I already know what her family is going to say. They are going to recommend the perfect alternative. Wait did I say alternative? I meant TRAP. No but seriously, hear me out, they're gonna insist that I can just stay here and she can travel with our daughter to their state, and then from there they can all travel together and she can be with them over there for a month. I can't imagine. Is that crazy to say? Like AmIAGiantControllingAsshole for finding that hilarious and inconceivable that I'd be away from my wife and daughter who I can't imagine life without? This is all assuming I even mention to them that "work" is part of the reason why I don't want to go. When in reality I just think it's super great and all that her sister decided to marry someone overseas, but it doesn't mean everyone has to go on a pilgrimage just to attend the wedding.
- LAST LAST thing. The wedding is a 400+ person event in June. And her sister is having a 300+ person bridal shower here in the states a month before. I'd LOVE to go to that, because shit, in my mind that's something we of course would want and could go to. To be honest, I don’t have many problems with the field or the job in itself. I enjoy the work and the field, it’s not too time demanding, and it makes my experience look good for LinkedIn. Yet, I want to quit.
I’ve always been a bit socially demanding - as in, I like to talk and interact with people often. I believe this is one of my strong points and why I’ve gotten as far as I have. My main issue with the job is that I don’t get along with many of my co-workers. Formerly, I did have a “close” work friend that made working there tolerable; however, after this work season, they are thinking of leaving the company due to better offers in better locations.
The thing is, I’ve also gotten offers from other companies. They aren’t much better from my current workplace, nor do they have significant pay increase, but I am considering taking up the offers simply for a new start. I also have a few colleagues there I know from prior experiences. These colleagues are people I would love to work with and even consider as my friends.
I brought up how I wanted to transfer to my boss - whom I quite enjoy the company of, in contrast - and he basically told me not to leave. He offered me a promotion and overall better position that will help me in the long run.
I don’t know what to do. Should I stay at my current company? Which is better, my career overall or my social happiness?

Toward the end of last month, my back started hurting. I'm not sure if I did anything to hurt it, and people keep asking me what I did to hurt it but I don't know. For context, I'm 17. It started hurting when I got home from work on a Wednesday. That same weekend we had a trip planned out, so throughout the whole trip I just took Advil a few times everyday to deal with it. When I got home that Sunday, I was literally just cleaning and my back stiffened up and it hurt so bad. I consider myself to have a pretty high pain tolerance. I never felt pain like that in my life, I actually cried. My father put a heating pack on my back and I went to urgent care the next day. The doctor said "Wow it's unusual for a kid your age to have back pain like this!", as if I didn't feel the same way. She helped me stand up and pressed on my back. She asked if it hurt and I told her it did and she pressed harder until I started to cry. That was really embarrassing honestly. I'm not gonna lie, my pride was really hurt. She told me to go see my doctor if it still hurts within a week. And she prescribed me muscle relaxers and told me to take 2 ibuprofen, 4 times a day. I was so pissed because I had school, extracurriculars, and work and I could hardly walk. The next week I went to my regular doctor and she said she would refer me to a physical therapist. My parents called to schedule an appointment and they told us that I would only be able to come in once at the end of April. I missed three weeks of school because of this. Now I can deal with the pain, I can ignore it but I can't lie, I can tell it's affecting my attitude. I went to school this week and I was so focused on catching up with everything, but now we are on spring break. My back hurts constantly but it hurts the most when it randomly stiffens up and it takes days to get used to. Yesterday, my back stiffened up again during my after school class and it hurts like a bitch. It's been hurting all day, I literally just took ibuprofen. I'm just so frustrated because I'm not sure what I can do if I can even do anything about it. I'm just so angry all the time because I'm constantly in pain and I'm tired of taking pills because honestly they don't even do anything. I feel so bad for the people that I've been mean to for the past few days. I just laid in bed all day today crying because I'm just so frustrated. I can only do so much when the people who are supposed to help me won't even do that. I'm not blaming the doctors but I would appreciate if someone put in the effort to help me. My parents are trying but it's out of their control too I guess. When my mom was on the phone trying to schedule me for physical therapy she asked if I was just supposed to wait in pain for a month and a half and all the lady said was "I'm sorry ma'am it's out of my control". And I get that, I really do. I'm just so frustrated because although I can handle the pain, I just feel miserable everyday. I just want to get better. I do several sports and I'm also a dancer. I have a concert coming up in May so how am I supposed to practice if it takes two minutes for me to fully sit down. I feel like I'm just letting everyone around me down and I can't even do anything. Literally no one can do anything about it, it's just so frustrating. No matter how many times my parents asked the doctor what's wrong with my back, they just say they don't know. The urgent care doctor and my regular doctor. I get that they don't know everything, but they both acknowledged that this kind of physical pain is not normal for my age and they're just like oh well here's some muscle relaxers! Sorry if I haven't said it enough, I'm so frustrated. I'm really trying to be understanding but my emotions get to me too much I guess. It's not like I expect everyone to do everything for me, as I can't really do much myself. I don't know I'm just so frustrated..

I don’t know how to begin but here goes. Please excuse any grammar mistakes, I am typing this on a phone. Please bear with me, this might be long. Do let me know if this isn’t the right sub for this.
Where I am from we don’t move out of our family homes unless we get married. We live together. It is a very big deal to move out of the family home. So her leaving has hit us hard. I don’t think I am looking for advice. I just wanted to vent I guess.
I don’t know when it started but at some point my sister started distancing herself from me, my younger brother and mom. We lost our dad about 5 years ago. Being the eldest I have since tried my best to not only be a good sister to her but also to be a parental figure. I made sure she had everything she ever wanted. I paid for her education. Made sure she is comfortable. Been there as her pillar of support whenever she needed one and yet she said what have you all done for me until now. But still somehow our love wasn’t enough for her to stay.
After we lost my dad things weren’t good between us, I tried to be the parent she needed. She rebelled in ways that we couldn’t handle. But after a point I just let her be. I stopped putting myself in situations with her. I apologised for anything wrong I might’ve done to her and just stood with her in case she needed me because I got tired mentally trying to make sure she stays on the right path and that she doesn’t stray. But none of that matters now because in the end she just went down the wrong path. I tried everything I could.
She would be happy when she would get her way, the moment she wouldn’t she would fight and it would hurt not only me but also my mom so much. She has said and done things that has shook me to my core but I still forgave her, mom forgave her. She even accused my little brother for being closed off from her, when he told her the reason why she blew up and instead started blaming us for everything that has gone wrong in her life.
Last night was the last straw and I ended up having a panic attack for the first time in my life. My brother (18) had panic attack for what went down.
She made us into her enemies just because of a guy she met a year ago. She just up and left us to go live with him. Seeing those empty cupboards created a hole in my already broken heart. She didn’t even care what it will do to my mom and she has a lot of health issues. I still can’t believe how easily she has abandoned us. It hurts a lot. My tears have since dried. At this point I am just numb. I feel like I lost her forever.

Ever since I installed essentials chat I can stop my username from showing the hexcode improperly in chat, I scrubbed through chat in the config and this is what I have it set to currently, but no matter what the Owner tag never shows up right format: '[{SHORTWORLDNAME}] [{PREFIX}] {NICKNAME}: {MESSAGE}' , Also the [owner] tag in the front showed up AFTER changing the config to the new format I preferred. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I never had a lot of girl friends but this year I became close to a girl who has a lot in common with me. We planned to go prom shopping today and it’s about a 30 minute ride from where we live (we live 10 minutes away from each other), and she needed a ride so my family offered her one. However when we get to her apartment, she doesn’t answer my texts (I spammed her), which led to us waiting 15 minutes for her. When she got in the car, I asked what she was doing and she said she was on her phone the whole time.
When we got the car running, the car battery died on us, and we were stuck outside her apartment for 30 minutes before we finally got another car to reboot the battery.
My parents had work, plus two hours of us prom shopping, which now was cut to only an hour, so I felt like it was inconsiderate of my friend to have her phone on silent/dnd and leave us waiting. I feel like if you are offered a ride, you should be ready and prepared. It was really embarrassing for me and I felt like it left a bad taste on my parents.
I’m not blaming her for the car battery, that was completely random, but the chain of events that lead us to parking was because we had to wait for her.
How do I tell go about this situation? Or should I let it go?
