Newly sober but almost 30 days in, feeling so much better and have had a ton of positive changes in my perspective and mood . I have one long time friend who has expressed for more than a year how she wants to get sober but has yet to make it more than a week or two without relapsing. even though we live states away we’ve always supported each other with our addiction issues just by relating and venting to one another. Recently though I’ve noticed she keeps comparing our journeys, suggesting pretty blatantly that my addiction issues aren’t as bad as hers or that it’s easier for me since I have less access to alcohol (I live alone + no car). The first time I called her out immediately and gave a firm response on how even if that were true it shouldn’t matter- we shouldn’t compare ourselves because at the end of the day we’re dealing with the same problem, it’s led us both to much pain and destruction and we should instead look for ways to relate about our issues and uplift each other. She seemed totally receptive to that then but tonight she said something again that was less obvious but the same kinda sentiment. I didn’t rebuttal because I wanted to take some time alone to think deeper about why it’s bothering me. I think maybe she actually thinks that it was easy for me to stop drinking since she has tried and failed so many times, and I’ve been less outward about each time I tried to stop and couldn’t (as in I never announced it in a serious manner until this time) which I totally sympathize with but at the same time as a friend it makes me feel like she’s devaluing something I’ve been working hard on. It’s not super hurtful but I suppose I just wish she could see how saying things like that is diminishing to me. I will add that she is the one who brought up sobriety/alcohol as a subject tonight , I’m so new to this I never preached anything or really shared much detail besides that AA meetings have been super helpful and the usual stuff we talk about surrounding the subject. I’m an over thinker so when I take a few steps back I honestly just chalk it up to her not really seeing outside of herself but who knows. I was just surprised to see her keep making comments after I had confronted her about it very bluntly. She has seemingly been proud and supportive other than this but these negative comments sort of negate all that for me . Not sure if I should say something again or just wait and see if she makes another comment. Like I said previously it’s not a huge deal….but I have learned over the years it better to nip any sort of animosity/tension in the bud to maintain a healthy relationship. I guess I just wanted to discuss this topic of unhelpful comparisons,or see if anyone’s had a similar conversation before and how they dealt with it. Please share anything you like 🙏:)

I understand that it has to do with the production budget and technology they had at hand but still, i couldn't help but feel like the seasons got progressively better, peaking at late s3-early s4. I need some advice on quitting my job. I have been wanting to quit for awhile now but I keep putting it off. I currently don't have another job lined up right now but I just absolutely cannot bear my job anymore. I work 20 hrs a week at a grocery store and it feels so unimportant. I'm in college taking a light course load now and I am planning on taking more classes next semester. However, I still live with my parents and they are adamant that I do not quit my job without finding another first. I understand where there are coming from and I am not trying to be lazy but I want to quit without another job lined up. I have good work ethic and I am a great worker. Its just that I'm quite anxious and the place I work at now does not help that at all with how toxic it is. Its my first "official" job and I've been there for almost 3 years now. I was considering maybe driving for doordash in the meantime of trying to find a part time job that suits me. However I feel like I just need a couple months to focus and myself and figure somethings out. Am I just just lazy and being a loser?

Hello! I’m (18M) a high school dude nervous before prom. It is in less than 30 days and I don’t have anyone to go with. I’m not lonely, I have tons of friends that are guys. Problem is throughout high school I have never made meaningful connections with any girls. Sounds kind of sad but it is what it is, I’m a nervous guy. This was really brought to my attention when I was getting roasted by my family for most likely not having a date. I immediately got to work and brainstormed people I like and might be able to ask out with some success. Specifically one girl I have 2 classes with but rarely spoken to. Our communications are basically limited to locking eyes awkwardly here and there. Below are my questions for anyone who cares to answer, thank you in advance.

I think I got myself in some sticky situation.
I am myself from a kind of upper middle class family (actually it is my divorced mother that have a succesful bussiness) so for me as a guy it was always a troubling idea to get a golddigger GF.
Nevertheless, I was always discreet about my family's wealth, so when I got into Uni, I lived in the dormitory, although I could have rent a flat easily (have my divorced bussiness-mom rent it or buy it).
So I met my Gf at the Uni, she is not from a wealthy family, could never rent/buy a flat. As I met her while living in the dorm and we clicked instantly, I thought it is the real deal and I was kinda safe from that golddigger Gf, because she clicked/fell in love with me whilst now knowing of my and my family's wealth (meanwhile she lived with her parents).
So years passed by (about 2 years) and my mom bought me a really luxurious flat at the capital city center, as I finished my law studies and the dormitory life has been ending.
Because of my insecurities aforementioned above, I kind of resisted to live with her instanteniously from moving to that apartment, so we ended up living together after about a 1-1,5years from the moment that i moved into my flat.
There comes the dilemma.
So we lived and live till this day in, as i could strongly say, kind of a perfect relationship - we fight rarely (but we still fight, so its not these relationship where if theres no fight then somethings wrong) and she is perfect to me: she lets me to go out with my friends, she lets me to go gaming, we go to the gym together, we both pursue our carriers together (lawyering), etc. She even found a job that pays more than my job (so even more no insecurities about wealth). I was even her first sexually. Seems really nice isn't it?
Then out of the clear sky, we went to Austria, Vienna for christmas holiday this (2022) year. I was a little moody and we got into a fight, I won't defend myself and I understand that maybe I hurt her in someway. BUT. As I went to sleep frustrated, I left her with my mom (50yo), my sister (30yo) and my nephew (13yo) and all of the women got some drinks and got drunk. And then! She got drunk and started talking really badly about me to my family (stupid huh in the first place? But anyways), she talked how i was awful, how i didnt get her flowers, how i dont want to have children with her, how i still havent asked her to marry me, told them about our strong fights that we had looong time ago. I could say that my mom and sister were drunk too and could interpret the vent of my Gf wrong, but all these talks of my Gf were backed up by my sober nephew (13yo), who was there.
Then after a bit time, when we were alone with my family, sister and mom told me about this incident. We had a talk, she apologised and everything went to perfect again.
So now I hear, that during our summer visit to my divorced father in summer 2022, she kinda told the same story about me being an awful Bf to my father, so to my family again...?
Now we have always agreed that we dont want any children at least till 30yo, we dont want to rush marriage too, so she talks to me completely opposite that she actually thinks.
So now I am in a situation where she doesnt tell me those problems that she have with me to me and everything is fine, but I KNOW that she thinks otherwise.
Now I am left with the opinion, that we may have clicked in our relationship at the start, but now she is living with me and dealing with our incompatibilities (as i am a terrible Bf by her talks) only because she is living in a high end luxury apartment at the city center and if we broke up she would end up living with her parents again. More, we dont use condoms during sex as she is on birth control pills (so now she is in control of her fertility), so if we have children by accident (or her "mistake"), she is bound to this apartment if we break up and I will have to move out of my moms flat till the child is 18yo by the law of my country.
So tell me dear redditors: what should i do? For me personally, I am in a perfect relationship, but now i know that for her its actually a terrible relationship, but she still lives with me and doesnt say a word regarding marriage, children etc.
Should I break up with her, or should I live further..? Now i feel like living with a clockwork bomb and i dont know if she will explode before children or after... I know that im bad Bf in these aspects, but she never told me and as long as she talks to me - i am a good bf, really sketchy.

I recently rewatched the first season of GoT and had a revelation. Although it certainly is great, the first season (at least) feels quite off. I understand that it has to do with the production budget and technology they had at hand but still, i couldn't help but feel like the seasons got progressively better, peaking at late s3-early s4. Also, season 1 particularly leans on a lot of gratuitous sex, nudity and gore for mere shock value rather than character driven competent story telling. The brothel scene in ep7 with LF is just the fucking worst. Also, i feel like a lot of the actors like Kit, Aiden, Sophie, Richard, Emilia and Maisie are not yet in their full form. Despite all this, a strong plot backbone; some really heavyweight performance like Ned, Robert, Tyrion, Cat, Varys and even Bran; world building and good pacing land this season its legendary position in TV history (deservingly so)
But, imho, HotD s1 has fewer problems, the most egregious being its pacing, and still explores its characters in much depth than the former. It has a better world building too but it is not fair to compare it with the former because of the budget disparity. Still, i think, as standalones, HotD s1 is categorically better than GoT s1.

so to preface. i cant smoke weed. i get too anxious, paranoid and sleepy. it gives me the shakes, i can communicate and i get cold and its hard to sleep it off as it gets to hard to sleep.
im someone who likes a beer or a few. ipas to be exact.
my parent and partner claim its not good for me to have a couple or few beers a night as they say i can get violent. they classify every time i have a beer as a reason for me to act out but its not true. its built up emotions and thoughts that ive kept inside for so long.
my boyfriend will smoke from the time he wakes up from the end of the day until he goes to sleep. including bowls to edibles to dabs.
but it’s not a problem to him nor a problem to my mom even tho it may classify as an addiction. but bc its weed and not alcohol it’s not a problem. even those alcohol is legal (and im not over using each day despite him doing so).
what is this difference. i don’t understand.
if i were to take kratom throughout the day everyday would it not be a problem then?
i have 3 beers and they think its okay to tell me ive had enough when i know my limit. i tell the person smoking they’ve had enough and i’m stupid.
i hate this bias. everyone has different ways to cope. everyone has different tolerances. everyone’s body is different

Hello,
I am currently 10 months into my first nursing job in a busy birthing center hospital. I work in the postpartum unit & sometimes float to L&D. We take on 6 or more couplets even though we recently had a new union contract signed that every nurse get 3 couplets. That’s been 2-3 months now and we are still getting up to 6 or more couplets (after discharge). We literally sign a protest everyday and it doesn’t even matter. Certain days are good, but I’m so over it. I’m getting burnt out. We have stable mothers and babies on certain days, and a lot of antepartum, readmits for preeclampsia (on magnesium) or infections, PPH, and sometimes unstable newborns that ends up being transferred to NICU. There are too many tasks to do and prioritization is a must. Majority of the time I’m spending my break charting or doing newborn’s car seat challenge or whatever that needs to be done so I can leave on time. I can feel myself being WAYYYYY anxious before work. I would go on indeed on my days off to apply for jobs and then I become indecisive & not answer phones calls or show up to interviews. It literally comforts me when I tell myself I will quit and get a new job. I find myself applying for jobs before work, and then after I finish my shift, I’m not as overwhelmed anymore. However, I feel overwhelmed before my shift begins or if I’m having a terrible day/shift & that’s when I want to quit.
I have been looking into school nursing, administrative nursing positions, and even remotes. I would love to find an administrative job related to nursing. It just seems like there’s nothing out there. I FEEL SO STUCK.. I even started applying for non-nursing jobs. The only thing that is stopping me right now is my paycheck, benefits/insurance, competition with my friends & cousin because they are all nurses (my family will talk a lot if I quit), and regrets of finding a job worst than my current job. Postpartum nursing isn’t as bad as it seems, but as a new nurse with limited skills, I’m scared every freaking second. A lot of my coworkers like PCTs and nurse practitioners who are technically the pediatricians at night can be rude as hell. I always get judgmental looks when I enter the nursery. They all look miserable and mean. And always act like they are all that or know better than me because they worked there for 10+ years. I do, however, have very nice and helpful colleagues. It’s just there are some who can make my shift miserable. Especially since we all collaborate as a team. I get looked down upon because I’m new, introverted, and quiet to certain ppl. Literally sometimes I cannot get certain tasks done without them lecturing or yelling at me. My managers have meetings with them because a lot of nurses complains about them, but nothing changes their personality.
And mind you, my schedule sucks! It’s like there’s no point of us plotting our schedule. We get all the opposite days! I knew I have to run when they have me 3 nights on, 1 day off, and 3 nights on in a row again. HELP.
I don’t know what to do. I’m so indecisive and it’s a major decision for me. I have a lot of student loans to pay so leaving my job which currently pays $108k is a hard decision. Also, I’m scared that my lack of experience will make it hard for me to find a better job in the future or become less marketable. I REALLY want to get out of bedside but still do something related to nursing & receive a similar salary. A little bit of a pay cut is fine as long as I am able to afford paying my monthly loans and rent. I’m tired of having this terrible anxiety before my shift and wasting all my days off being depressed and unmotivated. Sometimes I come off as rude and neglectful to people around me because of how anxious, burnt out, and depressed I feel. I literally don’t want to do anything but lay on my couch or bed & just apply for jobs that will hire me. I feel so suicidal and miserable. But I’m new. I’m not marketable anywhere. And I don’t want any regrets. I have bad luck when it comes to finding a job without connects. 😣

I don’t know what to do. I’m so indecisive and it’s a major decision for me. I have a lot of student loans to pay so leaving my job which currently pays $108k is a hard decision. Also, I’m scared that my lack of experience will make it hard for me to find a better job in the future or become less marketable. I REALLY want to get out of bedside but still do something related to nursing & receive a similar salary. A little bit of a pay cut is fine as long as I am able to afford paying my monthly loans and rent. I’m tired of having this terrible anxiety before my shift and wasting all my days off being depressed and unmotivated. Sometimes I come off as rude and neglectful to people around me because of how anxious, burnt out, and depressed I feel. I literally don’t want to do anything but lay on my couch or bed & just apply for jobs that will hire me. I feel so suicidal and miserable. But I’m new. I’m not marketable anywhere. And I don’t want any regrets. I have bad luck when it comes to finding a job without connects. 😣

In the quest for searching out the violet rose for Olgierd Von Everec. I just entered the Painted world of Iris. I've always saved Olgierd in all the previous play thrus. I decided this time, that I want to see what the faster than wind saddle looks like/does. That means letting Master Mirror have Olgierd. Since I started the quest. I have been trying to justify letting Olgierd go to hell or wherever it is that Mirror takes him. He's not a good guy. But; He's not really a bad guy either, and the game shows him with a lot of redeeming qualities, worthy of saving him from some theological place of eternal punishment. So; I keep trying to rationalize that I'm not going to save him this time.

so to preface. i cant smoke weed. i get too anxious, paranoid and sleepy. it gives me the shakes, i can communicate and i get cold and its hard to sleep it off as it gets to hard to sleep.
im someone who likes a beer or a few. ipas to be exact.
my parent and partner claim its not good for me to have a couple or few beers a night as they say i can get violent. they classify every time i have a beer as a reason for me to act out but its not true. its built up emotions and thoughts that ive kept inside for so long.
my boyfriend will smoke from the time he wakes up from the end of the day until he goes to sleep. including bowls to edibles to dabs.
but it’s not a problem to him nor a problem to my mom even tho it may classify as an addiction. but bc its weed and not alcohol it’s not a problem. even those alcohol is legal (and im not over using each day despite him doing so).
what is this difference. i don’t understand.
if i were to take kratom throughout the day everyday would it not be a problem then?
i have 3 beers and they think its okay to tell me ive had enough when i know my limit. i tell the person smoking they’ve had enough and i’m stupid.
i hate this bias. everyone has different ways to cope. everyone has different tolerances. everyone’s body is different
i need some input. am i just crazy?
