2022.11.28 20:50 jordanloggia Mechanics in tulsa area?

So i got this car on 11/22/22, i noticed that the car would shake or jerk while i was driving but i figured at first it was just bc its a old used car (2010 Chevy Equinox) and has to get used to driving daily again. On 11/27/22 i was running errands and the car started shaking again but this time very badly, enough to where i knew this couldnt just be the car settling. So i pulled over to QT and after a few minutes i decided to just try to make it home since i live less than a mile down the street. Well at a red light i notice smoke coming from my left from tire. I checked to make sure it wasnt coming from the hood and it wasnt, only my tire. Today, 11/28 i took it to Hibdon Tire Shop and was quoted $2200 for brake rotors, a hose, new tires, and a plethora of other things. My cars warranty conveniently doesnt cover any of the work i need done so its all gonna have to come from me. If anyone can provide some tips or reliable and reasonably prices mechanics around the area it would literally save my life!

2020.01.15 19:03 denito2 Dropping Subframe from Honda Element

I suspect the front subframe on my Honda Element is either broken or not securely attached. My plan this weekend is to put the vehicle on large jack stands and drop the subframe to inspect it.
Earlier this year I replaced every suspension component except the subframe, so I know how to take it apart to that point and don't anticipate that part giving me too much trouble.
My question is will it be feasible to leave the engine and transmission in the car and drop the subframe by itself? Or would you just drop the subframe with engine and transmission still attached?
If the former, I have an engine support bar I can use for additional safety holding up the engine + transmission.
If the latter, I have a wheeled cart I built for another project that's strong enough to support the front of the car and then lift the car up off the subframe. Probably can't get enough height to actually wheel the cart out, but I don't actually need to remove the engine + transmission. I just need to be able to inspect the holes / spots the subframe bolts into, and the subframe itself.
As for why I think the subframe is broken or shifting (laterally):
Eventually a light bulb went off in my head: the steering rack isn't shifting, everything else is shifting with respect to it.
P.S. The vehicle's never been in an accident, but I've had it ten years and wasn't always exactly kind to it. At different times I've asked it to perform at the limit of its carry weight, towing, climbing, or ground clearance (though never all at the same time). So maybe it's related to that. I probably need a truck, just saving up for a Honda Ridgeline. I have also let my wife drive it and she's ran into a rock and a curb, but the clunk noise started long before she ever drove it.
P.P.S. It's also possible the noise is a bad transmission mount. If so, this procedure will allow me to inspect or replace that too. I'll still have the mystery about the shifting alignment though, if that's all I find.
Edit: It's a 2006 Honda Element EX-P so it has the AWD. I'm guessing I might need to disconnect the driveshaft too?

2018.01.08 02:50 sadnomoney Took car to hibdons for battery replacement. They broke a lot of things. What am I supposed to do now?

HALF UPDATE:
I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. I truly am having a very difficult time trying to deal with this.
I have an appointment scheduled tomorrow at 1pm. I also called Hibdon's customer service and filed a complaint. They gave me a case number and told me that will contact me within the next 2 days.
So I might have an idea as to why so many seemingly unrelated things are broken after a battery replacement. I need your opinions and thoughts on this.
After a couple nights of intense googling and shuffling through many forum posts about car issues that are vaguely similar to mine, I believe that the A29 fuse has blown out. This is why I think that. (source) Many (if not all) of the issues have their components listed under A29. My theory is that the jump attempt blew the fuse. A concern is that the jump might have damaged other things as well. I'm going to ask the dealership technicians to see if this is a possibility and if they can confirm that Hibdon's are responsible for the damages.
My main concern is what the manager told me this morning. I tried to telling him that I believe that the damages were incurred when their technicians tried to jump my car. However, he immediately interrupted me and said that the jump tool was dead which was why they had to push start it. The technician on Saturday definitely did not mention that. He told me that they tried jumping it but couldn't get it to work for some reason which was why they had to push start it. I think it is suspicious for the manager to mention that detail after the fact. I am afraid they are still going to try to deny the damages possibly caused by the jump.
Just to confirm again... can a bad jump cause a fuse to blow out?
Would confirming damages caused by a jump be enough to prove that they messed up my car?
Also, I would like to thank everyone for the advice, suggestions, and tips. I refuse to be screwed over.

UPDATE:
I went to store and spoke to the manager. I told them that I suspected that their attempt to jump start my car battery with their jump tool was the cause of my issues. (The manager denies this by claiming that the battery jump tool was dead that day.) I will be taking my car to the dealership to handle the diagnosis and repairs. It has definitely gotten to the point where I need to pursue legal action. Manager outright denies any wrong doing and tells me to "take it up with corporate". I am a young college student with no experience on such matters. How do I proceed with seeking legal counsel and action? I don't even know where to start! Do I need to contact my insurance?

Hello,
(Background... skip if you don't want to read.)
Yesterday, I took my Honda Civic LX 2012 MT to Hibdon Tire Plus to get the battery tested and replaced. I had to jump start to car to get it to the shop. After I dropped it off, they called me and confirmed that the battery was dead and that I needed a new battery. They also mentioned that the radio wasn't working and the odometer wasn't reading. This surprised me because I was listening to the radio on the way to the shop. I told them that was not possible because they were working when I dropped it off. I also gave them the go ahead on the battery replacement but went to the shop immediately to find out what was going on with the car. When I inquired about it, they told me the same details and made it seem like these problems occurred because of the battery. They also mentioned that they identified these issues "prior to service". I went outside after I paid and tried to use the key remote to unlock the car. It doesn't work. Red Flag. I get into my car and noticed that the tachometer needle is sitting at 2k RPM. 2nd Red Flag. Curious as to what the tech was talking about, I turned on my car... and the i-MID display doesn't turn on. Final Red Flag. I definitely did not drop the car off like this. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed something like my i-MID display not working (I look at this screen every time I drive). Sprinted back inside and tried to explain the situation to the service person who checked me out. They tried telling me that they identified these issues before they started working on the car. I contested everything because my car definitely was not like this before I dropped it off. I, not taking any of their crap, managed to frustrate the service person. They blew up, started yelling at me, and claimed that I was trying to fuck them over with free car repairs. Their manager then came over and assured me that they would "get it figured out". (It is closing time at this point). 3 hours pass by then the manager explains to me that they cannot determine the situation because the OBD2 port isn't working and they do not have the correct tools on hand to further diagnose the issue. He then asks me to bring it in on Monday (It was Saturday), so they can continue trying to resolve the issue... oh man.
So here are the issues I've identified so far:
*works when car is on and running
I'm pretty sure the list will continue the grow...
Some details and thoughts I didn't mention earlier:
The specialist told me that they tried to start the car to get it into the shop but couldn't get it to start (I told them they needed to jump it). He told me that they tried to use some jump start tool but couldn't get it to work, so they push started it to get it into the garage. I'm assuming that is when they realized those "issues". So currently, I am under the impression that these series of events caused these issues.
What do I do? I'm pretty sure the people at Hibdon's still think that I brought my car in with the problems already existing. That is definitely 100% not the case and I am not about to pay for mistakes I didn't make (Maybe my mistake was taking it to a tire shop in the first place). From my interactions with the service people and the manager, no one has admitted that this was their mistake.
Thanks for your time.
(this post is also cross posted in mechanicadvise for car advise)
TL;DR - Brought car into Hibdon's to get battery replaced. Got the car back but a lot of things are broken / not working properly. Please help?

2017.09.06 15:55 TROLOLOL6969 Anyone else's TPMS light come on this morning?

As soon as I started my car I noticed the tire pressure light came on but couldn't visually see a flat tire. So I head to Hibdon as they fix flats for free, and of course there's 37 elderly people waiting in line 7 mins before they open and then I realized there was such a temperature drop that it could be fuckin with the sensor. Anyone else have that issue?

2017.05.03 15:24 _snack_attack_ Switching Cards While In Good Standing

Hi, I couldn't quite find a previous post that described my current situation, so please point me in the right direction if you know of one.
I'm 26 years old and I'm still learning about how different things affect my credit. I currently have a credit card with Chase, as well as a couple of promotional cards with Best Buy, Hibdon Tires, etc for when I need to make large purchases but don't want to pay all the money at once. I pay the balance in full every month on the Chase card, I have no balances on any other cards, I have a good credit score (755), and I've never had any cards or loans go past a due date.
I'm considering switching credit cards because I just don't earn a lot of cash back with my current card, and there are cards with no annual fee that either offer better cash back options or travel rewards. Because I've only had my Chase card for about a year, I'm afraid that closing it this soon might negatively affect my credit score.
Would it be better for me (as far as my credit is concerned) to keep the Chase card open for now and open the other card on the side, or just close the Chase card entirely and open the new card?

2016.11.14 06:33 garrtt 2006 dodge chargers brakes still squeaking after $560 dollar brake tune up.

So I'm an 18 year old boy who's dad left him when he was 12. I want nothing more than to know more about cars and how to fix them myself because I could save money and whatnot but I simply have not had anyone knowledgeable of the subject in my life. So with that out of the way, I recently went into Hibdon Tires and paid $560 dollars to replace brake pads and rotors. I know this is probably laughable because I could do it myself for less than $200 but I don't know how. I nearly emptied my savings account in that place. I drove my car for about a week and was very happy with it. The braking was smooth, responsive and no damn squealing! But then one after noon whilst coming to a stop at a red light there was a sudden jolt that I could feel through the pedal, it was like something seemed to fall off almost. There was an immediate difference in the quality of the brakes and they once again started squeaking. I don't know what do do? All the parts they put on my car had a lifetime warranty so should I take my car back in? Will they reservice it for free? Is this their fault and am I being taken advantage of?

2016.07.08 22:03 cardinalsfanokc TPMS Issues after new tires - Should I call back?

Took my wife's 2015 Corolla in for new tires last week. Went to Hibdon, my first time there but they had the tires I wanted at a price I was happy with. 2 days after the tires are on the TPMS light comes on. I drive over there for them to check it and I'm told the rear driver one is dead.
I asked why it was dead - I was told they have tiny batteries and usually last less than a year. Not sure if I buy that as the ones in my 2009 Tacoma work fine and it's been at least 3 years since I've had tires and they might have been replaced.
My main issue is that no one told me they last 1 year and no one suggested replacing them or rebuilding them when I had the tires put on. Not even a mention.
I want to call back and have all of them replaced but I don't feel like I should have to pay to have the tires taken off and remounted. I would have optioned to do it the first time if they had told me.
Good idea or am I wasting my time?

2011.03.01 05:40 Keevtara Car troubles and job troubles. I need advice.

Ok, I am currently underemployed. I work twenty hours a week in a warehouse, and I earn only ten dollars an hour. I've asked for full-time, or more hours, with no luck. I only have a high school degree, and a bit of college. I have experience in retail, fast food, and this warehouse job. How do I go about getting a decent job, preferably an entry level desk job?
Also, I took my van into Hibdon's Tires, to get an oil change. They noticed that I need new parts for my brakes. In total, they quoted me at over $2k. I'm saving, but I don't have near enough money. Advice?
Edit: I'm looking at the list. There are a lot of small things, like fluid flushes, air filters, and windshield wiper blades. These cost between $15 and $30 dollars each. I'm sure my friends and I can get these done with little problem.
The big items are both lower front bushings, calipers, drums and rotors, which come to $1.7k.
(I drive a 1996 Mercury Villager.)
